Game is honestly very surprising to me. Didn't really expect it to be this good. It's got 3 modes that are all fun and replayable, no campaign so they can focus more on the other modes, and its very fun to play with friends. If you've got the console (or a PC that can run it), if you've got the money, I think it's all worth it.

Black Ops 4 feels like a game where playing and having fun with friends is the main focus and that's what makes it a great game. Blackout is the best mode there is in this game. Fortnite and PUBG have failed to give me that Battle Royal rush, but when I played Blackout, I began to have hours and hours played in solo and duo matches. It's one of the best battle royal games there is to play, although it cost $59.99 or more, it's still a fun game to play every day.

It's a great game in my opinion what i do not understand is how people give it bad ratings for it always being the same, then people giving it bad ratings because they're making changes since COD MW2
Also: It is $60 even though it doesn't have a lot of features, but treyarch are always working to add on to it, there are some games with barely five hours of story with no online and get praised

Black ops 4 is the best call of duty since MW2, and that's a fact. The fact people are bitter over campaign being cut is dumb. The last couple campaigns has not been good, and after BO3's campaign i didn't want another BO campaign, so im happy it got cut for blackout, which is one of the best things cod has ever done. Multiplayer also has been revamp, while still holdning on to its roots enough, that it feels so fresh and good. The specialists are amazing and the new health system really gives a new tactical play to the game. Even thought it's small maps, it makes up with the slightly slower gun play, that evens the game out very nicely. The weapons are fun and the new spray patterns are really nice. The modes are very fun, especially the new ones like Heist and control, but DOM feels a bit campy and spawn trappy.
Blackout is the most polished BR mode out there. The fun play is good, the vihecls are fun and the mode is very competitive.
Zombies really hits it home for me. The maps are beautiful and they play very well. The mode has gotten a fresh take while still being treyarch zombies. it's a nice new perk system and the new elixirs are a polished and better gobbelgum system. The new Zombies is both Noob friendly and a challenge for the Hardcore players, because of the new difficulty system. The easter eggs are back and are okay but not the best they have been. The graphics are great and you become really immersed into the game. weapons are also really fun and good in zombies.

This COD really deserves more praise, and not all the hate from the salty people because they took out a **** gamemode. If you really are so upset about it then why do you still buy the game. its dumb you're complaining but still riding activision as always.
To end this off, this Cod is really fun and if you are in search of a good multiplayer game, then definitely buy this game.
if you want a story game then go play Red dead or something

Treyarch is back at it again with their fourth addition to their Black Ops series which started in late 2010. Treyarch has turned the tables in hopes for a bright future, being the first ever Call of Duty to not feature a campaign mode. This is essentially the “story mode” that players often play alone for a single player experience. Treyarch has decided to completely ditch this and offer three different multiplayer options. This includes Multiplayer, Zombies and the newest installment, Blackout. The large leap of faith in order to save what is left of the dying franchise was extremely successful. They have pleasantly surprised long-time fans while also bringing in millions of new supporters. Black Ops 4 has made history with outselling every other previous Call of Duty regarding digital copies on release date. The amount of features this game includes is too hard to ignore. It is never too late to become a fan of this series because of the adaptive and responsive design company that is Treyarch. The future is bright for Call of Duty. Expand

One of the most replayable cod's ever. It has a lot of content that will always keep you busy. It might not have a campaign but it will carry you through the weekend no problem.

I have every COD and Battlefield ever made as well dozens of games ranging from CS:GO, ARMA, Titanfall , etc. I am more of a purist and prefer Modern Warfare Remastered than these newer COD's, but it is easy to see why they have gone the fast, high action, "specialist" route. It's fun and accessible. Blackout is a whole new leap forward in Battle Royale games and is just excellent. It's smooth, fast, loaded with hidden items, and looks to be open ended for special events. There's nothing quite like picking up a Paladin sniping rifle in a map that size. Every game has issues. COD devs seemingly still need to put in a max lag compensation threshold, for example. A lot of the multiplayer maps are remakes. Still, it's an all around great experience. The Firing Range map is as good as classic Nuketown. In a world where people pay 25 bucks for a single pizza delivery or 15 for 1 person at a movie, I see no problem with a $100-ish game package. I wish I could have gotten the mystery - super box edition. I feel like the netcode runs better on PS4, as I also have it on XBox. Expand

For MP we get some nice modes like Heist and Control... Heist is like Payday but better. It's nice because noob or not, everyone starts with the same thing.

Then there's the battle royale mode called Blackout, which i'll admit it's very challenging but intense as hell. There's added things in this mode like bullet drop off rates, item pickups and backpacks, vehicles, etc. Blackout takes time to understand, but once you do, it's hard to stop playing. I've even met some pretty cool people that actually use the headsets effectively because you really need to coordinate in Blackout.

Then there's Zombies, which offers a lot of little modes within it to suit most players, casual or hardcore. I'll admit I've spent the least amount of time in Zombies, but I hope to get back into it eventually. The only thing I don't like is that most of the trophies for this game are unlocked via Zombies and I would have liked to see more trophies in the other modes.

You might also say a negative is there's no longer a campaign really anymore. Personally, I don't call this a negative because thinking back to all the campaigns in older CoDs, they honestly weren't even that good. Nor will they ever be as good as CoD4:MW campaign. The missions themselves just got stale as the series has grown, so seeing it ditched altogether was no surprise. What might be considered campaign now is quick little stories from the different classes. They pit you against AI and overall it's quite boring, especially if you already played the MP. It's there just to get you familiar with each class, which makes no difference at all if you play Heist or Blackout all day.

The game is a good return to what makes CoD a fun, fast-paced, rootin' tootin' gun shootin' game.

Specialists are fun, some fit certain play styles better than others but I don't think any are overpowered. Haven't played a ton of Blackout and zombies, as I'm not super into BR type games and zombies has become a bit much for me, but what I have played of each they are very well done and fun to play. The thing that knocks it down for me is the Black Market track, I wish they had some sort of skill based challenges similar to contracts and orders in WW2 (that don't cost CP) to keep some sense of progression or challenge going. I haven't gotten the pass yet and undecided if I will, 50$ seems like a lot to pay for what is essentially access to 12 maps (since I don't play zombies). I get that it's a way to prevent the player base split that inevitably happens with DLC but it's just a little steep for me. My mood could change quickly if they end up adding in more content or there's a sale. All in all his is the most fun I've had with a FPS since BO2 and don't let all of the negative user reviews about the lack of campaign cause you to hesitate if you're a fan of the series. Expand

They brought solid maps, solid gun play, relatively balanced characters and guns. That made up a pretty good experience. I will break down my review into each multiplayer mode.

    Battle Royal/Blackout:

I think the BR in BO4 is some of the best we've seen so far, things can still be improved though. Progression is probably the worst thing in Blackout, but this can be improved with a simple patch. Takes a long time to unlock stuff as-is. Gun play is tight and feels responsive. I never felt like I was unfairly killed. Overall 8/10 (Minor bug fixes and better progression would make it a 10)

    Multiplayer:

I spent the most of my time playing various modes in the multiplayer. in my 30ish hours I never noticed any weapon being overpowered, everything had its place. Progression is rewarding, unlocking things like skins or new weapons is very natural (once every couple games) and you always have something to look forward to. The customization of weapons is probably my favorite part, ALL guns feel different. Overall (10/10)

    Zombies:

Probably the worst part of the game. Coming out with one map (and another blocked behind a paywall), though fun made the game feel pretty repetitive. Difficulty is there and playing with friends is a blast. Once they add more maps, it will be a lot better. Overall (7/10)

Conclusion... I can't comment on micro transactions as the game has none yet. It's something to keep an eye on. The $60 you spend on the game, as of this moment is worth it. Overall (8/10)

Keep in mind, this is my opinion and mine alone!

With no story mode included, Black Ops 4 can be broken down into its three game modes. These being the regular multiplayer and zombies modes found in most Call of Duty's, but also includes an all-new Blackout mode. The multiplayer is the best it has been for many years. It is ACTUALLY fun to play and very fast pace. The amount of small and medium size maps in the game allow for this to happen. It brings together past favorite maps such as "Nuke Town" or "Firing Range" which adds nostalgia to fans who have been there for years. The weapons feel pretty balanced and have undergone many changes since its initial release. Assault rifles seem to be the most dominant weapons as they can pretty much do everything you could ever want in the game. Snipers have little to no real reason to be used on the smaller maps meaning they feel unusable. The pick ten system they have for creating a loadout is more innovative then it has been in the past. Each weapon is allowed to have their own set of attachments that not every gun would have. There are new specialist attachments that allow for new impactful changes in your weapons however, it takes a couple spots up from your pick ten. Each spot for the pick ten feels way more important then it did before. The equipment almost feels as if it should not be used as well since the different specialist has abilities that are usually better. All the perks could disappear and I do not believe much of the game would change. Only a handful of them actually feels like they are making a difference. Scorestreaks seem to be overpowered at times as they completely change the pace of a game. Choppers and most air units instantly get kills with little time for someone to defend themselves. Zombies have been newly renovated in a couple ways. In the create a class selection you now have the option to pick your own perks and in what order you would like to receive them based off maps. The new map IX is one of my favorites in the franchise. It is linear enough for me to pack-a-punch weapons without the help of a guide. The map simply looks amazing with the many mythologies shown around. Classified brought out old favorites through the maps "Five" and "Moon." Zombies overall are as fun as it has always been in the past. Not too many changes had happened to make it stand out considerably. Blackout is your usual massive battle arena game. It brings out the best that its competitors had to offer and replicates them very well. Using original map design from past games as well shows a lot of care into what they have created. Overall, it is an enjoyable experience that could not be found in games such as PUBG. An issue with the game is that it contains a system of buying tiers in their Black Market section. It works exactly the same as it does for Fortnite. However, the tiers can unlock through simply playing the game. Everything found within their is purely cosmetic as well. Overall Black Ops 4 is an amazing new installment to a failing franchise. Hopefully, Treyarch will be able to keep its fan base happy as they normally do in the past. Expand

Call of Duty has had a lot of ups and downs but this one is a good time! No single player but the multiplater modes are a lot more full.

Black Ops 4... Treyarch's most divisive installment to date. Hated it when it came out, and over time it grew on me. There's a lot I love, and a lot I absolutely despise about this game.

Specialist HQ is just horrible. I don't know why Treyarch wasted dev time adding this garbage tutorial to the game. They didn't even go back and add specialist tutorials for the new specialists they'd add

Specialist HQ is just horrible. I don't know why Treyarch wasted dev time adding this garbage tutorial to the game. They didn't even go back and add specialist tutorials for the new specialists they'd add post-launch, so it's overall a pointless mode.

MP is extremely smooth and fluid. The gunplay and movement is some of the best in the franchise, and the player visibility is amazing. The TTK, the maps, the guns and progression are all stellar. However, the Multiplayer feels less like Call of Duty and more like Overwatch. The hero shooter elements return from Black Ops 3, and they somehow made it worse. The Specialist abilities actually break the balance of the game, and they take absolutely no skill to use. On top of that, the SMGs, the Maddox, the ICR, and the Titan are significantly more overpowered than the other guns in the roster.

Zombies is mediocre. This iteration of the mode is for the hardcore of the hardcore. If you hate the new style that BO3 Zombies had, you'll hate this game even more because they doubled down on it. But, how is that a bad thing? BO3 Zombies is universally loved. Well, they made this game so unbelievably complicated you'd need to look up a guide to play 6 out of the 8 available maps. On top of that, the perk system is a complete downgrade from what once was. Spawning in with your specialist and four hit points made the game too easy. The Easter Eggs for the most part were all gameplay disasters. BotD and Voyage are the best examples of terrible Easter Eggs in this game.

Blackout was good, but it failed due to it not being free. If it were free, it would've stood a chance in the BR market.

Overall, Black Ops 4 is a good game. The gameplay is extremely solid, and the art style is visually appealing. If you're a hardcore, this game was made with you in mind. Casuals, be aware that this game will be a nightmare for you.

This is the most underrated call of duty game ever. The gunplay is really tight smooth and fun, all of the weapons are fun to use and diffrent, and I love the speacialists. One con about this game is that the maps in multiplayer are not that good but the dlc maps in multiplayer are fire but most of the time they don’t come on in multiplayer. The battle royale (blackout) is super fun especially when I’m playing with my friends. Really fun battle royale. And the zombies is super fun. Trying to survive and killing zombies is super fun and intense and the maps are the best especially the dlc zombies maps. My favorite map is alpha omega, my second favoraite map is IX, and my third favorite map is blood of the dead. I really recommend this game it’s super fun Expand

It’s not that I can’t respect it — it seems to offer decent value in that it’s essentially three different types of shooter in one package, but aside from the new Blackout mode, I’ve had significantly better experiences from many of its competitors. And honestly, Blackout’s main competition is a free-to-play game. It may be better than Fortnite in my opinion, but sixty dollars better? I’m not entirely convinced about that, and without a decent singleplayer campaign attached, it’s a pretty hard sell for anyone who isn’t already a fan.

Despite its generic title Black Ops IV feels like a fresh start for Call of Duty. The multiplayer and the zombie mode is very much the same as always, but with Blackout, Treyarch takes everything that is good with Player Unknown's Battleground and makes it better.

With no campaign to test your trigger finger, the trio of a safe (albeit polished) battle royale, waning multiplayer, and rotting Zombies make BLOPS4 feel like a relic next to a post-Forsaken Destiny 2. [Issue#156, p.94]
