    So much of this game is just a rehash of the other black ops games. Half of the specialists are just the BO3 specialists except now their designs are uglier. Half of the multiplayer maps are remakes. One of the zombies maps is even a remake for god's sake. The only new thing they actually did is blackout and that's mediocre at best. If you've ever played a battle royale you've playedSo much of this game is just a rehash of the other black ops games.     The removal of a single-player campaign is indicative of a company that follows the money (and the trends). The Battle Royale mode does not offer the same level of risk/reward that PUBG does. In fact, the devs of PUBG took lengths to create a balanced game by removing "luck-based" items from normal gameplay. More often than not in BLOPS4, the winner of a Royale game comes down to "is theirThe removal of a single-player campaign is indicative of a company that follows the money (and the trends). More often than not in BLOPS4, the winner of a Royale game comes down to "is their armor better than yours" I even recorded a gameclip of someone coming up a ladder in level 3 armor, me draining every round from my LMG into them, still shooting them as they got up to my level, and then they turn around and kill me in a few hits (apparently no lag detected). The lack of tactical options (ie not being able to switch firing modes, no leaning, etc) also makes this a subpar Royale offering. The attachments were also underwhelming except for what level of zoom you were using for a scope. The entire experience obviously feels more like COD than a Royale game. However, it does offer a much more enjoyable Royale experience for someone who wants to play a few games by themselves.

    On an Xbox One X with a new 55" 4K TV and HDR, the graphics were underwhelming and not much has changed. Even with the caveat that the graphics need to support 80 players in Royale, I just wasn't impressed. COD4 blew my mind, BLOPS4 just blows.

    Ultimately, the price does not justify the content and the flashy new Royale doesn't have the staying power or the draw to keep me coming back time after time.    … Expand

Since there is no campaign, the muiltiplayer, blackout battle royale, and the fantasy zombies modes is what messed up the franchise without any realism approach being put into it whatsoever. Thanks to the so-called battle royale, Black Ops 4 is made.     Man where to start I guess the main issue is the missing content that I feel that should be in the flipping game again back in the day they had a mode called Ground War and I feel as though they **** up not having it in the game and I know the game can handle it being Blackout has 88 players in it.     The Twitch streamer Avoidthingpuddle says it the best on the whole camping subject so find that clip on YT.

    You kill 2-3 players then heal up and run into a building for cover and low and behold some dip stick in the corner with a shotty that blows you away cause you have no more armor and they have been sitting there for 5+ mins to kill someone walking into the door or window. I've played many Battle Royal games and CoD seems to have it the worse for the camping DISGUSTING. Little chubby cheek kids camping cause they can't handle conflict.

    Another thing I hated about Blackout is the normal spawn of a rocket launchers gotta love dropping out of the chopper to just get rocketed from a building across the way while your fighting another player or two for the goodies. Like make rockets in supply drops only as it causes major imbalance at the start of the game. Thats why certain games have a lock out to certain weapons appearing only in Supply Drops.

    Next I wanna talk about the multiplayer as a whole the combat is really **** I feel there matchmaking algorithm is to place players that are starting out with people that are pros or have 40+ hours in the game already that just man handle you every turn of the way. They have a **** Copy paste system from black ops 3 the whole operator idea is TRASH. Rainbow Six Siege just does that whole idea better.

    The only real mode I found fun on this game was Heist. They really killed this game and its potential to being a game that kills PubG.

    The only thing this game has on top of pubg is the performance and hardly any lag.

    This is not a 10 out of 10 game so please if you are reading the 10 out of 10 reviews ignore them. This game is easily a 4-6 outta 10 if that.    … Expand

    I'm a long time CoD player but I'm very disappointed with BO4

    Everything about the game is so mundane, it has no personality. I'm almost through my first prestige but I couldn't name a single new map cause they're all so forgettable. The same is true for the rest of the game.

Cod games have been going down hill as you now have to pay for remastered maps and pretend its all good. The lack originality for maps and the likely hood of more remastered maps showing up as part of paid DLC is disappointing.

    Being Part of the 30% that actually likes Story mode in Cod Games this game is just a true disappointment for the franchise for me.
    On a up note the game runs far better than Cod WW2 but will crash multiple times a day. This is due to the outdated and unstable game engine that only gets patches instead of being upgraded. If this franchise is to continue they will need a new game engine as their competitors have already made innovations in this regard.    … Expand

    The last Call of Duty games I really got in to were WaW and MW3. I thought this title would be a good one to get back into the swing of things with. Wow, Call of Duty has really fallen.     The graphics on PC might have been good six years ago. Even with everything maxed out and still running at 60+ FPS, it looks pretty bad.

    Regular multiplayer plays like a generic FPS, nothing really exciting about it.

    Blackout is really disappointing, it feels like a poorly executed PUBG clone. I got second place my first match, and for the final one-vs-one we were both in the open strafing and shooting at each other. Again, nothing really exciting about it.

    I can't say much about Zombies mode, my play time was limited in it. What happened to the original Nazi Zombies from WaW? This feels convoluted. I do see other people really enjoying it, so it's probably just me on this one.

    I would comment on the campaign but there isn't one.

    If this title was $29.99 I would feel slightly disappointed. I feel really sorry for anyone who bought the $99.99 and above editions. I probably won't buy any Call of Duty title again.    … Expand

    This game surprisingly had some decent qualities but fails hard on them. Starting with zombies it is enjoyable playing the zombies mode but it is just same old zombies some different modes have been added but there is only some much one can do with just zombies. Lastly the multiplayer where call of duty usually shines but falls way short, multiplayer has added a few game modes completely inspired by other games and maps are just ripped straight out of older games in the black ops franchise there is very little amount of originality here. The weapons you start out with are some what terrible and it will take you a while to level up and some weapons like the ICR are very overpowered and overused to a huge extent I have experimented to see what was the most used gun by players and the ICR took the throne i found the two to three players in an entire lobby used a different weapon. Campaign was a no show in this call of duty making this call of duty odd in a way but the stories behind the specialists did seem interesting and i wanted to know more about them certainly they could have my a campaign on the specialists there back story's were just amazing, but do not replace campaign in any way. This game could have been so much more but falls short and feels like a black ops three re skin with a few extra modes added.… Expand

The gameplay is 100% arcade style, while the multiplayer maps are pure arenas instead of "combat areals", not to speak about the realism (bullet drop etc.). The awful color palette hurts the gameplay as well, not only regarding the avatars, but also the environment. Everything looks like in Ken & Barbie land, even the power ups and rewards.

    To me, there is very limited bonding with classics like BO1-2, BO4 is more like a chimera from Blizzard's Overwatch and the original Black Ops.    … Expand

    Alright I paid for classic version and I'm not happy with this game.

    PROS - Fun to kill zombies with friends - Nice visuals - Fun voice lines - Incredible Level design (especially titanic) CONS - Constantly crashes (it's beyond ridiculous for such a big company) - HUD is clumsy as **** (you get tiny arrows to see your friends in the map...they are really tiny and you see them    Alright I paid for classic version and I'm not happy with this game.

    PROS
    - Fun to kill zombies with friends
    - Nice visuals
    - Fun voice lines

    CONS
    - Constantly crashes (it's beyond ridiculous for such a big company)
    - HUD is clumsy as **** (you get tiny arrows to see your friends in the map...they are really tiny and you see them ONLY if they are not in your camera's direction.
    - Fans knows there is no minimap, but why indicate poorly players positions ? Just go full "hardcore" or casual, but not a weird clumsy mix between both. (Tiny arrows when you look sideways...)

    - Interface clumsy as well ( Mode selection actually mixes between modes, maps, AND difficulty, all of them presented the same way with banners). Do you even game design ?

    - Secrets are fun...but when EVERYTHING is secret it just becomes retarded. Do you expect your players to dive into the code or something ? We want to play, not to get into Matrix. We need both classic objectives and secrets. Again. Game Design.

    - Not enough content for the price. (not mentioning bugs...)

    - Badly optimised.

    - Last but not least : Limited lifespan. When you get to wave 34, waves are so long you just want to turn off your PC and go play outside. It has no point, no endgame objectives. You'll get all possible upgrades by wave 35. Do it once and get bored.

    Teammates are uncooperative for the most part, many times even a threat.
    Microtransactions everywhere, anything from a map in zombie mode, to a red dot sight for your rifle.
    This multiplayer PVP game has aim assist.
    Hitboxes are garbage.
    Occasionally shots don't register.

    (Good things)
    Zombie mode is okay alone, or with friends.
    Battle Royale can have its' moments, when the team actually works together.

    I'd recommend you drink heavily if you intend to play this game, though that may just make you angry.

First of all they got the tier list which was the more exp you gained the more you could unlock. And you had the premium version and the normal version. On to the second aspect was the battle royal, of course there had already been games with a battle royal, but not as intense as Fortnite. With 100 players and a boundary closing in on players which makes the game a little more intense. Even though PUBG did this before people still ignored that. A new battle royal and a tier list influenced game creators. So games started having these tier lists and battle royals included. And you may be wondering, what does this have to do with COD. Well the people who played the game is obvious. When I heard that Black Ops had a battle royal like Fortnite's, I was exited. I bought the game then when I opened it up, it was somewhat good. It was decent for a few days until I found out that there was no story mode. And i was mortified dammit! A COD game with no story mode............ God did what! And apparently there was a story mode, but it was a tutorial merged with the story. And that made it even worse. The cutsences were short, and when I mean short, it was like 10 seconds long. Maybe even shorter. The gameplay wasn't even part of the story. Actually should i even try to call it some sort of story. If they just put it as a tutorial and not show any resemblance of a story, and just showed all the characters backstories, I would give this game a 5. For my standards anything a 5 or over is good game and rating. The tutorial made the game bad, not horrible but just bad.… Expand

    Pay to win dlc weapons are to broken and it is way too boring playing the non dlc content besides the only way to get most of the dlc weapons is in supply drops

    Black Ops 4 is an uninspired generic first-person shooter. The multiplayer is mediocre at best with small 3 lane maps and recycled maps from older Black Ops games. The battle royale mode Blackout is okay but nothing special. This game isn't bad, just bland, generic and uninspired.

    Multiplayer is mixed for me. Specialists are more broken than how they were in BO3. Prophet, Firebreak, Ajax and Torque are meant for people who aren't good at the game, as their weapon mechanics are to benefit newbie players by stunning them, giving them a shield or allowing them to camp. And they're perhaps the most used specialists in the game

    I also really don't like the 150 health system, as it feels like i have to empty a whole clip into someone. It's the reason i use rapid fire on all my weapons, but whoops! Its like with every gun, they just picked the attachments out of a hat and called it a day. People argue its to benefit how the weapon performs, but how fair is it that an AR like the KN57 has Rapid Fire, but not the ICR-7? Or why can't i dual wield the Strife but i can dual wield the Saug 9mm? Or why can't i have a bayonet on the Rampart 17 but it's on the VAPR? It's all unorthodox.

    Also, the battle pass system...let's keep it, please? Oh, but they still need to make up for the crappy BR mode so we'll add supply drops for the 6th time in a row along with COD Points!

    Zombies is where most of my complaints lie.

    I. Did not. Like. The new perk system. That, along with the create-a-class is just to help out new players, when the previous 4 Treyarch titles had none of that, and it all worked perfectly fine. Half of the new perks are really just filler since they can't sit down and actually come up with something unique, or they couldn't be bothered to bring back older perks that never got a chance (cough Vulture Aid cough Tombstone cough). This was done because "It removes crutch perks". On a technicality, all the perks are crutch because someone depends on Timeslip or Blaze Phase or Stamin-Up. Removing the original perks was a bad move, especially since the Double Tap effect is at it's best when you Pack-A-Punch a weapon 5, count 'em, 5 TIMES....to have it at it's fullest potential.

    Also, the fact you have to pay for a shield, while price rises with each purchase is utterly absurd. A free shield? Nah fam, pay for the damn thing.

    Half the maps are remasters, specifically remasters of Mob of the Dead, Nuketown, Five and Call of the Dead. I understand, some of these maps have a significance in the Aether storyline, but i would still prefer new locations. Chaos is nothing more than a attempt to avoid properly wrapping up the Aether story. I didn't find it interesting at all, despite the maps IX and Ancient Evil being pretty damn good, too good. Voyage of Despair and Dead of the Night didn't have that same consistency when it came to quality, and are hot messes of over complicated features and janky map design.

    The remastered maps stay true to what the original maps had, with some locations on said maps being removed, changed or new ones being added. That didn't justify that it's literally all just re-used assets on a newer engine with no improvement in the quality. At some points, the maps they're re-imagining look better than the re-imagined version.

    The ending for the Aether story did give me a sense of completion, the story is wrapped up. How they executed the ending, i wasn't happy. Playing as the Victis/Tranzit crew on the 4th map remaster with no true final battle just saddens me. Treyarch hyped the ending up to be this final showdown with Dr. Monty and possibly the Shadowman again, except we just got, as i told many before: just another Zombies map.

    BO4 is not the worst COD, but it's definitely the worst Black Ops title. It's an interesting experience to say the least, but i still find myself playing older Black Ops games, specifically BO3 as it's considered the fan favorite.

    If you feel its not worth the money, don't buy it. I just hope Treyarch can see that they need to do better if they want to have another successful title.    … Expand

    (Spoiler impossible mode histoire inexistant) Je suis déçu de voir encore un gameplay futuriste avec trop de truc à gérer je doit être faible mais j'ai pas retrouver le plaisir de call of duty alors que j'en est eu dans black ops 3 ! Je trouve que ce n'est pas un bon call of ce n'est pas le pire loin de la mais je préférer passez mon chemin !

    Wow this is truly a crappy game that I recommend to no one. No single player for some reason. I’m one that loves the single player first & MP second or third (Spec ops probably second & zombies after that). The battle Royal isnt worth the effort it just seems pointless. Save your cash & buy anything else

    Black Ops 4 is no doubt the worst Call of Duty game I ever have played. How the hell can they remove campaign!? It's some of the reasons I buy a COD game. So far the zombies sucks and multiplayer is even worse. The Blackout mode is in other words a waste of time since players today are so tryhards. After buying this game, I highly recomend to stay away from it.

Then when it was finally fixed you realize that the game has no campaign and tries to sell you some cheap PUBG wannabe battle royale.     Zombies, great as usual. Really enjoy the variety of maps and new characters who are actually engaging to the player. 3 maps on launch is a treat and the new mechanics make the mode feel fresh and fun. Sadly one diamond in a pile of dirt does not make the dirt valuable as well.

    Activision and Treyarch's revenue strategies are appalling and need to be reviewed by gaming regulators. Loot boxes (gambling) in Multiplayer, an expensive season pass with less content, liquid divnium, Blackout content and ridiculous base price for half of a Call of Duty game.

    Treyarch could have been the saviour of Call of Duty but they are the cash grabbers who will exploit every person's wallet if they get the chance. If they cared they would have left Activision, they're in it for the money as well. I feel sorry for people like Jason Blundell who work so hard to make a fun game and it's ruined by the top corporates who seek to leak you of every dollar.

Buy whatever you want, but if you want to see change to what you buy and be charged fairly for what you play, you need to stop buying these unfinished products. $200 for all map content + additional money for Micro DLC and a 55gb day one patch for servers to play up. Lastly, the removal of single-player was absolutely stupid. Some people, including myself, love campaigns in Call of Duty. Why did Blackout, which is my least favorite mode in the entirety of the game, get the okay to just shove a great concept out the window? The microtransactions is horrible. They sold a regular red dot for $1 and a $30 melee weapon.

    Zombies i can't speak too much on because i haven't played it but what i've played of it it just feels way too complexed but there are one fun map called IX but overall a mediocre experience.

    Blackout is probably the best part of the game but still not worth paying $60 for. The blackout map is good and has a lot of fun desinations but it's not too fun to play alone. Killing people in blackout is satisfying aswell and it makes good sound when you kill someone with a headshot. Blackout overall can be fun but not worth buying for $60.

We got one new location in the entirety of a year, i hate to compare it to fortnite but at least they consistently kept it fresh to keep the player base playing the game. Zombies where a nice addition though and quest items to get characters was a great addition I really liked and sadly we never got anymore after launch apart from Multiplayer outfits. Some of the new modes where interesting with the best being the small Alcatraz map mode, none though really surprised me so I just stuck to playing the core modes.

    Multiplayer was bad as well. Most of the weapons which came with the new operation where way too overpowered and didn't get the necessary nerf. How can i forget to talk about the god awful specialist and how overpowered some where to others eg. torque was useless while nomad was op. This really ruined the experience and most of the new maps where completely forgettable. Finally the modes in this were fine like the st patricks day mode was fun and so was heist but sadly we didn't get enough new and unique modes but ones we already had in previous games (just like the specialist)

    Zombies.... this breaks my heart how this went from the massive hype of bo3 to this absolute trainwreck. We are introduced to a new crew named the chaos crew which where forgettable with the only real characterization going to scarlett and the other characters, well, you will have to read comics for. Four launch maps was unbelievable, but sadly only one of the maps was the high quality which we expected, this map was IX. Voyage of despair was tedious to play and the two Aether maps where remakes which destroyed their classic maps. Then came the DLC season..... damn this was horrible. Dead of the Night was garbage, too many zombie types and new characters was an insulting punch to the player base. No content for a long time after that, I believe it was for four months. Blackout and Multiplayer getting consistent updates while the zombie playerbase was given nothing but gauntlets which where boring. Finally we get ancient evil its great but its on the Bo4 engine so eh it will be forgotten sadly. Alpha Omega and Tag Der Toten where bad, no CGI intros or outros for the end of 10 years, this was bad, what happened, well probably funding cuts. How are the maps? just like all the other bo4 maps, forgettable. The ending to zombies pissed a lot of people of, it pisses me off but not as much, its the closure we needed, still we wanted a satisfying ending not a shocking ending. Also factions.... we don't talk about that.

    Specialist HQ is one of the most insulting things added, trying to add a campaign story to get you excited for probably the next black ops. Don't get me wrong I like the idea it has but really did we need cutscenes? no we just want to try out the specialist to see what they do. So yeah this was trash.

    All the broken promises, laziness and greedy tactics is what destroyed what could of been a return to form but sadly this continues the spiral down for the call of duty franchise. Maybe we get a call of duty every two years to polish the games and never get a disaster like bo4 again.    … Expand

    The reason I gave this game a 3 is just because of the Blackout and Multiplayer! The zombies was phenomenal! Multiplayer broken and p2w. This game was rejected. I’d say just get rid of this game. I would actually love 2018 CoD if it was just zombies. This game is terrible.

    While Blackout is good, I am in love with the MP. It is so buttery smooth, and we finally have some deviation from the 3 lane map formula that started to drive me insane in the later CODs. Heist and Control are two excellent new game types which keep it fresh as well. Its not perfect, but it's finally done something to make itself different from previous titles. A lot of the reviews mention the lack of campaign, I will get far more value out of Blackout than I would have from a campaign, so I see it as a fair trade.    … Expand

Too bad ranked play was also 5 months late killing off any chance this game had of actually being competitive. A big trend you'll notice is that all content is coming out way too late.

    Except for the battlepass cause that brings money into activision's pockets . So a full price AAA game + the very expensive season pass doesn't even get you everything? Theres still cosmetics that go for 20ish dollars?     The DLC/Microtransactions have been the worst I have ever seen, literally emulating the fortnite system.

    There are no ways to attain weapons you have missed from previous seasons (SWAT RFT)
    and they milk every penny from you - I don't know why because they cut the meat from the game - CAMPAIGN mode.

    This does not deserve the black ops title either. Nothing here is black ops. It is siege/fortnite/overwatch.

    If you buy this unfinished alpha, you say to activision that you give them permission to remove story mode from all games.

    The developers clearly want to innovate where innovation isn't needed, and add features that appear lackluster and like quick cash-grabs.

    First of all, let's bring up the elephant in the room: the replacement of a campaign with a battle royale mode. This is certainly a hot topic, and one that not many are in favor of. This came as a disappointment to me, because while I love myself a good multiplayer shooter from time to time (Overwatch, Titanfall 2), my heart will always belong to single player experiences. Some may be fans of Battle Royale games, but here's the kicker:

    Battle royale takes almost no time to develop. After Epic Games realized that Fortnite: Save The World was a sinking ship, they threw together a battle royale mode in 2 months. 2 MONTHS. This combined with the fact that Blackout already incorporates assets from previous games in the franchise makes me wonder: Why did this take up SO MUCH development time that the campaign was scrapped?

    Of course, this would have been excusable had Blackout been refreshing to play. After 5 or so matches, you have done everything that the game has to offer. This is what plagues battle royale games, the repetitiveness and lack of replayability.

    Onto the multiplayer, which, in my opinion, is some of the worst the series has to offer.

    Map design is a flop this time around, with the same boring, three-lane maps that we have seen since modern warfare. Not only do all of these maps play the same, too many of them are blatantly copy-pasted from other games. A majority of them feel as if they were designed for advanced movement, but sometime in the development cycle, the developers realized their mistake, removed the jetpacks, and the maps were left to suffer.

    The overwhelming majority of the guns are all samey as well, both from an audio and visual standpoint. Now, I understand that the series must have similar weapons that are consistent between entries, but there could have been more effort to inject some creativity into the designs of the weapons. Like them or not, advanced warfare and infinite warfare had some of the most creative weapons in the series, because the futuristic setting gave them more creative freedom.

    The hero-shooter esque class system is also a miss, because it forces COD in the direction of a hero-shooter, but doesn't do so fully, and we are left with a half-baked experience that feels generally unpolished and unbalanced. Why do ability cooldowns not reset to zero when changing rounds? Why are there almost no supportive roles? Why is teamwork not a large enough factor in fights? Why are there no ability interactions/combinations? Why do all of the characters look the same, not allowing you judge how to approach each fight? Why is the Time to kill too high for a hero-shooter, but too low for a Call of Duty game? These were just some of the questions that I had to ask myself as I played, and i'm sure you will ask these questions as well.

    The zombies, as expected, is a great addition. It meets, if not exceeds the footprint that BO3 left behind. There are just the right amount of easter eggs, lore, and character interactions that add up to a pleasant experience that will be dug into and expanded upon as the next year progresses. And, 3 maps at launch is just the icing on the cake, it's the cherry on top.

    Next up: the monetization. The Black ops Pass is inexcusable, especially since we are in an era when consumers are as educated as we will ever be about the impact that companies such as EA and Activision are putting on the gaming industry.

    Having convenient spending options for your consumers will never be a bad thing, and Activision has overwhelmingly demonstrated this with the Black ops Pass. DLC has always been a feature in COD, and it has been passable up until this point. With the black ops pass, it's all or nothing, either you're in, or you're out. You can either shell out 50 dollars, or you get virtually no content on the side. This begs a couple of questions:

    Why couldn't we have had smaller, yet individual DLCs, priced at 3.99 to 9.99, for each map pack/zombies map/weapon bundle?
    Why does Activision constantly screw over their consumer base?

    A few other, minor complaints:
    -UI is bland, and the cursor on PS4 is unnecessary
    -Same overall artstyle/engine as BO3
    -Lack of classes/characters compared to other hero-shooters

    Overall, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is another entry in the COD franchise, though its designers want it to be everything but, including Fortnite, CS:GO, Overwatch, and Rainbow 6: Seige. It ends up being a jack of all trades, and master of none, if you will.

This is the first CoD title I have purchased in at least five years and likely the last unless major improvements are made as there are a few elements in each mode which make them very frustrating to play. I primarily purchased this due to the Blackout mode so I will start there.

    In blackout you have only one life and a single fight can negate 20+ minutes worth of work and game play, this is the essence of any battle royale mode. The major issue with this mode is that they have not made the necessary adjustments to the equipment as it play extremely different than the normal multiplayer mode. The main culprit in this is the 9 bang grenade. If you are hit with one of these you are completely blind for multiple seconds. This works great in a game mode where you die and just respawn seconds later but a single item with a large area of effect that can essentially ensure your death has absolutely no place in a battle royale genre.

    Next we have multiplayer which, if you like regular CoD multiplayer, it may be okay for many players. The issue I have here is that sniper rifle, which are easier to hit with than in many other shooters, are an instant kill regardless of where you hit someone. In a game where the maps were all oddly designed to have many large hallways it leaves little room for other play styles and creates a frustrating gaming experience. Additionally, there is rampant hacking on the PC. It is not fun for anyone, except maybe the hacker, when an enemy is continuously jumping through the doorway, doing an instant 180 to an enemy player and landing 4 quick head shots before the player with the positional advantage can even react.

    The saving grace of this game for me is the Zombies mode but it does not come without its own issues. I love the idea that there are objectives available for each map to advance the story within each round and that getting through the entire story would take a mix of practice, memorization, and good gun play. The part that kind of ruins it, at least on the map I have had the time to delve into fairly deeply, is the addition of RNG and cheap mechanics to try and artificially increase the difficulty. I am referencing the finding the skull objective on IX. Why would you make an objective where, even if you know where the item you need can spawn and you are looking directly at it, the item is so difficult to see that you can still possibly miss it? This portion does not feel rewarding and just feels like a cheap way to "increase the difficulty" without actually putting any work into it. Everything else outside of that which I have experienced on that map feels difficult but doable but that is too much luck put into a task when you need to be nearly perfect to get through all the objectives, at least in two players.

    All in all there is a lot of room for improvement in all aspects of this game and I completely regret purchasing this game in its current state. Here is to hoping the developers listen to community feedback and improve this game so it is at least and enjoyable gaming experience for the majority.    … Expand

It is awful. Like genuinely awful. I played about 2 hours of it and had to switch it off and put AC: Odyssey back    Absolute crap! I traded it in for a partial refund, 3 weeks after purchase.

    I played about 2 hours of it and had to switch it off and put AC: Odyssey back on, BO4 was that bad. I then didn't play it again for about 2 weeks, and when I did finally play it again, I couldn't bare more than a couple of hours. I just get sick of it, and hate practically every aspect of what it has evolved into. It's like all the previous bad COD's rolled into one, except they've tried to copy fortnight into it.

    The graphics, the combat, the playing styles and gameplay, the glitches, the lack of a campaign etc. They have even ruined Zombies, which used to be COD's only saving grace, up until the past couple, which have been getting progressively worse. Zombies is now ridiculous, with too many far fetched spells and complex procedures that make it too overcomplicated to be worthwhile. It just feels like a big mess.

    2. Yes the Sniper rifle is over powered and quickscoping is still a problem. Its the same Noob cannon that it has always been

    3. Yes the game punishes you if your team isn't filled with pros with kill streaks that will make you want to throw your controller against the wall.

    4. Idiotic specialist ability unbalance the game to the extreme. A dog that can take multiple headshots, but bites you in the ankle and you are dead! An invulnerable shield that you can only run from... oh and don't forget the trusty noob tube.

    5. The worst spawning in the entire series. If you love to get spawn camped by snipers before you can move, this game is for you!

    6. Terrible maps. Even the best maps are barely tolerable and most are painfully bad.

    7. Lag, bad servers and a very poorly optimized engine cause huge problems.

    8. A much faster based 'twitch' shooter that only caters to the top players.

    See all the great reviews by the professional reviewers? Perhaps it is because they are being funded by activision. Now look at the user reviews. 4.4? Thats pretty generous.

    Should you buy it? no

Cold-Blooded perk has been nerfed to an extreme to the point where scorestreaks will still see and shoot you it'll just take longer for them to. At least make a specialist that is like an anti-technology person who can get past that stuff. Because the tech is unstoppable in this game, from the specialist equipment to there weapons all the way to the scorestreaks. Objective game modes can just be dominated due to the tech. The counter to everything in this game is to just shoot it like the barricade when can't there be like a self-destruct button on the back or something to destroy it faster. It makes zero sense it's like either waste time shooting the tech and lose the game or keep dying by them and lose the game. Why was there an EMP in BO2 and BO3 but not BO4 when it takes place in between both of them it's like the universe just got dumb. Why isn't spectre in the game there is no silent specialist. Brings back old maps because they are lazy and the new specialist doesn't fit well with the old maps. PS4 gets the free content that should have been in the game before Xbox, it's just unfair and dumb. For a game that took 3 years to make it shouldn't be unfinished. Multiplayer is horrible. Zombies and Blackout are ok. Anticipated for no reason. Brought the 100 dollar edition and it took almost a month to get my cod points. The game just breaks every day, stuff comes and goes on a regular. It is by far the most uncomplete Call of Duty of all time, but the game is fun at times because it's Call of Duty.… Expand

    Game is okay. Play it at my brother's house, but kept getting jump shot around corners. look it up and seems to be a glitch that allowed people to see you first. Kind of annoying. Games seems a bit laggy too. Blackout is a bit fun, but didn't like it. I guess it comes down to preferences and I just didn't like it.

    I was a huge fan of Call of Duty thanks to their single player campaign. "Now it is their land... Their people... Their blood." Remember?
    BlackOps4 doesn't have a single player campaign. This is disappointing.

    Zombies are ok. You have new monsters, elixirs, perks etc. You can kill some time with it, but zombies with each iteration of the franchise lose the appeal to me. Maps are so big and puzzles so difficult, that they stop being fun at all. Just treacherous and tedious shooting and running around the giant map. I wish they would go back to relatively small and really perfected maps like in Black Ops 2, were killing the hordes of zombies was really fun.
    Blackout Mode:
    You will be better served by other games at fraction of the price.    … Expand

    How does Activision expect to entice new players into their IP when the MAJOR SELLING POINT, the multiplayer, is so unbalanced for new players the experience isn't even fun? In my first 5-10 matches online, I was the ONLY player not prestiged and under level 30 (to be precise, I was LEVEL ONE.) That means I have no create-a-class, no experience with any weapons, no experience with any of the maps, and no experience with game mechanics other than how to point and shoot my **** gun (WITH NO USEFUL ATTACHMENTS).

    Spawns are still broken, a remnant of distress from my MW2 days, where you undoubtedly will be killed not because of your skill level, but because the game spawned you with an enemy within 10ft.

    I'm not sure if this is a valid complaint, but from my memory I seem to recall there being a larger assortment of weapons to choose from in previous entries, from what I can tell each type of weapon has about four unlocks and only around 4-5 types of gun per primary and secondary.

    As a side note, Activision needs to start taking into account the wide base of players they have. In their demographic exists a wide variety of player types, and many of them play every CoD game they release. When you pair these incredibly skilled players with the less experienced players that don't play as often, you just end up alienating a large portion of potential customers. I don't buy CoD games frequently because every time I do, my playing experience seems to be secondary to the Activision "Whales" and it's clear that Activision puts no protections in place to ensure that new players will have fun.

    If you're playinh a competitive game, you want to play with competitors at your skill level. High Schoolers don't play NFL teams. My first Black Ops 4 match shouldn't be against CoD Veterans.    … Expand

I normally do really well in multiplayer even sometimes winning up to several games at a time but since purchasing this game i have yet to come in first place on free for all. Jumping also causes the person shooting to hit them in the leg area which reduces the damage taken by the person even if you were shooting them first. I really enjoyed ww2 and every other call of duty with the exception of advanced and infinite warfare due to the exo suts. I cannot even enjoy playing multiplayer on this game. Also whats up with the 4 health bars? Ive hit people 4 times and they still dont die. I dont mind the old maps from black ops 1 i actually enjoy them but the time it takes to get a kill is unreal.… Expand

I was wrong, black ops 4 should have not be a block ops game because it has does not have the smallest bit of similarities, but i still was hopeful.     really bad the battle royal part of this game that everyone was excited for was TERRIBLE and the zombies part of the game you have to buy after you buy the game if you don't get the full version but it's terrible no call of duty zombies can be as good as bo3 zombies very big disappointment for this game.

    Zombie mode is not bad, but also very boring after a couple of games.

    This game is decent online. But the shady microtransactions added post reviews is pathetic and greedy. Pay for skins, then be forced to grind or pay more $ to receive the skins you already paid for? Nah. i'll pass. I've hated on fortnite but for a game with transactions they seem to be doing it right.

    After refusing to play or buy due to no campaign I ended up playing in a friends house for a few hours but it did not change my mind. The game feels like BO3.5. Offline modes are terrible and stories are very short. Online does not have enough modes and content to justify no campaign and too many rehashed maps.     It’s not that I can’t respect it — it seems to offer decent value in that it’s essentially three different types of shooter in one package, but aside from the new Blackout mode, I’ve had significantly better experiences from many of its competitors. And honestly, Blackout’s main competition is a free-to-play game. It may be better than Fortnite in my opinion, but sixty dollars better? I’m not entirely convinced about that, and without a decent singleplayer campaign attached, it’s a pretty hard sell for anyone who isn’t already a fan.

    Despite its generic title Black Ops IV feels like a fresh start for Call of Duty. The multiplayer and the zombie mode is very much the same as always, but with Blackout, Treyarch takes everything that is good with Player Unknown's Battleground and makes it better.
