Playably Blair Witch is a game that doesn't stand out, but still any lover of the horror genre will be delighted by the atmosphere the game achieves. Especially for those who have enjoyed the Blair Witch movies and want to live a new experience with the franchise, this title is a work that they will love.

Blair Witch returns with its conversion on PlayStation 4, and it also has additional content for Bullet the dog.

Blair Witch is a good homage to the film but stands on its own as a spooky, lost-in-the-woods, romp that doesn't go far enough with some of its story beats.

Blair Witch is easily the best videogame take on the licence to date and an effective, frequently petrifying horror effort. Unfortunately, a much too long final chapter and pointless stealth sections late in the game sadly detract from a genre effort that is overflowing with dread and atmosphere.

It would be a worthy and truly scary successor to the original Blair Witch Project, if not for its lacklustre technical execution and uninspired confrontations. As it stands, Blair Witch is a mixed bag: at times truly great, but more often than not just not good enough.

Good ideas are undermined by overuse and a lack of tension, but Blair Witch does leave you thinking ‘What if?’ and demands to be replayed . [Issue#171, p.97]

Ultimately, Blair Witch is an intriguing story plagued by unsatisfactory gameplay, with a few neat ideas sprinkled throughout. Your canine companion presents some interesting mechanics, along with altering time through the camcorders, but in the end, even these features aren’t enough to save Blair Witch from being a chore to play. There’s still some to appreciate like the characters and story, which make Blair Witch almost enjoyable.

For fans of the Blair Witch franchise, this game is an interesting vignette which fleshes out the universe a little more. But for those looking for a horror game filled with good scares, this is probably one to pass on.

Blair Witch's strongest aspect -- its eerie woodland setting -- is perfect for a focused, streamlined, horror experience. Unfortunately, that's not what this game is, and the superfluous, gimmicky gameplay mechanics that are thrown at you with reckless abandon only serve to make the game less effective as a whole. A disappointing story, frustrating level design, and precious few genuine scares leaves us hoping that this is one franchise that gets lost in the woods.

"Blair Witch" plays like a cross between "Silent Hill" and "Amnesia". Bloober Team (Layers of Fear) does a good job paying tribute to the movies. The game is only about 6 hours long, but there are four different endings. This is a slow-burn survival horror game filled with item management, exploration and puzzles. The dog that can help you is a nice touch. Overall, not great, but enjoyable. If you want a spooky game to play during the Halloween season, this is a decent one. I would rate it with a 7 out of 10 Full Review »

Occasionally creepy and it may make you jump. More thought needed to be put into the endings though.
