    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a technical achievement. There's not a hint of a bug, and it achieves what it set out to do magnificently. The problem is that what it set out to achieve is not particularly a game.

    The game has many great ideas - controlling Aiden is a good idea, and often a lot of fun. However way too often you're forced to search around for the one thing you're able to do. And also way to often the one thing you can do is blatantly obvious and completely uninteresting. The quicktime events are particularly dull, as it's not clear you can influence the story no matter what you do. So really the gameplay is just a particularly laborious way to watch a movie.

    I particularly objected to the combat. After snoozing for half ann hour helping Jodie through fascinating activities such as falling asleep, suddenly you've got to flick the joystick in some direction that's not really obvious, or else YOU FAIL and nothing much happens. Exactly what is the point? The stealth is similarly futile. The only sense of achievement I felt after these episodes was that I had endured them.

    The highlights of the game are when Aiden runs rampant. Many of the characters in the game are dislikeable, and terrifying them with Aiden is the only relief from them. However I was never allowed to dispose of Ryan like I wanted to. From the moment he met Jodie was an arrogant ass, and for the rest of her life he acted like he owned her. In the end, Jodie chose to go beyond to escape his suffocating grasp.

    Before I finish, I also want to **** about the camera. If you have a 3D world, give me a camera that can see it. Let me look where I need to look. Don't restrict my point of view. Way too many times I was dragging Jodie off on a kind of random trajectory because the camera wouldn't go to where I needed. This is either incompetent or vindictive game design, and is unforgivable. Uncharted was the last game which should have had that problem.

    In summary, "Beyond: Two Souls" has some pretty classy story telling, but is badly let down by insufferable characters, appalling camera control, and a misunderstanding about the nature of a game as distinct from a movie. I did play through it rather quickly, but as nothing much I did mattered that wasn't so difficult.

    I got "Beyond: Two Souls" as a free monthly download on PSPlus. When there is a new release from the same studio, I shall be wary of paying much for than that if they are going to deliver the same sort of content.    … Expand

    Otro juego de Quantic dream, con todas las consecuencias que esto conlleva. Personalmente, me gustó más que Heavy Rain, pero en cualquier caso, desde Fahrenheit, sigo cayendo una y otra vez en la trampa de David Cage... lógicamente, compraré "Detroit Become Human".

    Fantastic game, great story, good visuals.
    Excellent voice acting and wonderful dialogues
    This game amazed and fell in love with me from the first second.
    The game, although it has some drawbacks, in the form of a wretched (for me) stealth in some missions, but still this game, so far, remains for me the best in the genre of interactive cinema

    This is like watching a 10 hour actiln film but you are interacting with it. I don't normally like the action genre but this thing was fun. Sometimes I lost track of the objective though and wandered off the wrong way. You get options to get revenge, to help and to cause havoc and it is incredibly well made. It was great to see the making of videos after I played it too, the production effort really shows. Don't spoil it by watching things on it, just play it. Get PS Now for a month, you will get 3 nights out of this and then you have 200 games left to get your claws in to as well.

    I originally started the score for this game at an 8, as it's some of the best voice acting(if not the best) I've seen in a video game with graphics before it's time and still wholes up to today. The story starts off strong and holds firm through almost half the game. It keeps you motivated for the next step which is crazy considering its 75% story and 25% gameplay. Once you reach the ending it doesn't matter tho because the multiple endings you discover bring it back to an 8. This is done even tho by the end of it you start to feel retreated ground.… Expand

    Possibly one of the best games I have ever played. Just an amazing interactive drama that keeps you engaged and can easily be compared to a highly rated movie. Enjoyed every second of it.

    I cant belive that this game scored 72 at metacritic. You can make a differend choise for the ending.In my opinion this is the masterpiece. But the game time was quite a little bit short.

    I loved this almost as much as Heavy Rain. I loved following this character on her journey through struggles of dealing with supernatural entities especially since I'm a sucker for paranormal stories. While there weren't as many lovable characters in this game for me as Heavy Rain had, the ones I did love really stood out to me and left a lasting impression.     Picked this game up with the Box set, had Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, and Detroit: Become Human. This was the first one I decided to play and I am so blown away by the story telling, the acting, the graphics. It is a true master piece for sure. Can not wait to get into Heavy Rain and Detroit as well. I hope they are on the same level as this game.

    This game is absolutely worth the money and the time for me.I played it through so many times because the story is versatile so you will see a lots of diffrent places, the plot keeps you entertained and the game is long enough.The acting is great plus this game looks amazing.They built a nice fictional world as a base.

    I played PC version of the game, but it wasn't optimized. Well, I may say I played PS4 one.

    Good:
    - story;
    - Helen Page and other actors;
    - storyline narrative;
    - dynamics;
    - emotions.

    Minus:
    - sometimes face animation is shown wrong (strange face expressions);
    - background textures.

    Anyways I think it's a great game and I will definitely replay it.

La trama non è delle più geniali, ma il modo in cui viene narrata (in pieno stile David Cage), rende il tutto appassionante e coinvolgente. È da dire che non è un gioco come un altro e che quindi NON deve essere acquistato se non si va molto d’accordo con questo genere: Beyond è infatti riservato solo a coloro che hanno familiarità con i giochi narrativi e che vi sono appassionati, oltre che alle persone che in un videogioco vedono più di un semplice modo per divertirsi. Tutte le opere della Quantic Dream mirano a più di questo, come anche David Cage stesso ha dichiarato, perciò devono essere prese in considerazione in un certo modo senza paragonarle troppo ad altri prodotti della stessa categoria. In ogni caso, l’intero gioco sembra essere ben gestito dal punto di vista narrativo, e l’interpretazione dei personaggi da parte degli attori è di alto livello e proporzionata al loro grado di esperienza e fama. Parliamoci chiaro: nessuno acquisterebbe mai un gioco solo per la presenza di attori famosi (almeno si spera), e inoltre, mentre Beyond rappresenta l’apice negativo della software house, Detroit: Become Human rappresenta quello positivo, sebbene in quest’ultimo non fossero presenti attori di un certo spessore (ad eccezione di Jesse Williams e Clancy Brown che in ogni caso non sono paragonabili a Willem Dafoe o a Ellen Page). Questo per dire che, al contrario di come molti pensano, la presenza di personaggi famosi all’interno di giochi, film o serie TV non è garanzia di qualità. Per quanto riguarda invece il gameplay, i giocatori si sono lamentati di due cose in particolare: la sua generale povertà e la difficoltà del controllo del personaggio. Nel primo caso si tratta di una critica priva di senso, in quanto ciò che la gente intende comunemente per gameplay non può in alcun modo essere qui presente nella stessa maniera in cui lo è negli altri tipi di videogiochi. Inoltre, quando si parla di gameplay nei giochi di narrativa (non solo della Quantic Dream), le persone dimenticano o, nella maggior parte dei casi, fanno finta di dimenticare il fatto che in questi ultimi è possibile plasmare la storia a proprio piacimento attraverso un sistema di scelte (spesso anche molto complesso) in decine, se non (in certi casi) centinaia di modi diversi. QUELLO è il gameplay di questi giochi, spesso ignorato di proposito dalle persone in maniera tale da trovare un pretesto per criticare e a volte insultare un gioco che semplicemente non gli va a genio. Nel secondo caso, invece, (la difficoltà di controllo del personaggio) è semplicemente un’affermazione falsa. Probabilmente coloro che dicono una cosa del genere sono giocatori alle prime armi che stanno ancora prendendo confidenza con il controller, oppure semplicemente persone non tagliate per il suo utilizzo (persone che guardano il joystick per cercare un tasto prima di premerlo, per capirci). Un videogiocatore medio non dovrebbe avere problemi a pilotare un personaggio in Heavy Rain, Beyond o Detroit, e tutti i miei conoscenti con cui ho discusso del gioco non sono incappati in simili complicanze, indi per cui una critica tale risulta piuttosto bizzarra e ingiustificata. Un’altra critica che viene mossa è quella del costante maltempo nel corso degli eventi della trama. Questo sì, è vero, tuttavia apprezzo pienamente la scelta e non capisco come tutti coloro che vi hanno giocato possano non fare lo stesso. Quello che intendo è che, essendo l’intero gioco (anche nei momenti meno drammatici) “ricoperto” da un’atmosfera di costante malinconia e tristezza, non poteva certo essere inserito un clima solare, felice e spensierato. Il meteo è fondamentale per la caratterizzazione di momenti, ambienti e stile narrativo, e un cielo sereno e luminoso non avrebbe certo accompagnato in maniera corretta la storia, perlopiù caratterizzata da toni gravi e cupi. Anche questa, quindi, è una critica che si sarebbe potuta evitare. In ogni caso si parla di un gran gioco e il consiglio che vi do è quello di non ascoltare tutte le critiche che vengono mosse nei suoi confronti (nella maggior parte dei casi derivanti da un’odio incondizionato e ingiustificato nei confronti di David Cage). Semplicemente, tenete conto di ciò che il gioco è, e se sembra interessarvi provatelo. Assegno un’8 perché, sebbene è un gioco che ho gradito molto, non mi ha spinto a completarlo per più di 2 volte.… Expand

    I had very low expectations for this game, but I was surprised in a very positive way. I finished it in less than 72 hours, it was an interesting experience, the story is cool.

Ведь Джоди сначала показывают маленькую, и потом опять взрослая, из-за этого не понимаешь как? Где?     The story was gripping from the very start. I was interested to find that the original cut was a non-linear route, but as the story developed it made more sense. The player does have the option to play it linear but honestly I would recommend the original route. Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe are    Beyond Two Souls is a masterpiece in storytelling and visuals, keeping me hooked throughout.

The player does have the option to play it linear but honestly I would recommend the original route. Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe are the star characters playing their roles amazingly. I'm going to put it out there and say this is Page's best role, she is honestly amazing in this. The non-linear route doesn't really have that standard story structure, however it's a great way for us to learn about the characters and build up emotional relationships with them. Story choices are a key feature in this and you decisions will impact different aspects of the story. At the end I realised that I had built up relationships with the characters wanting to spend more time with them.

    Don't expect nothing revolutionary with the gameplay as it's your standard quick time event. However, this doesn't really remove anything from the experience as this was the type of gameplay I was expecting. However, sometimes it did get frustrating. The slow motion quick time events in combat got annoying. You have to move the analog stick in the direction of the motion to block or attack. However, it would be hard to pick the direction where there was more than one motion. This often resulted in me getting injured but had an interesting impact on the story. One aspect of the gameplay I really loved was the stealth, I didn't expect gameplay like this. The action sequences did give you that adrenaline rush though, even though it was just quick time events. You know in the back of your mind that one bad move could alter the story and characters.

    The visuals looked great on the PS4, I'm unsure what they looked like on the 3 but obviously not as good. Each location you visit looks really good and highly detailed, adding to the immersion and realism. There were a few lighting glitches but you'd really need to have a sharp eye to catch them.

    I believe Hans Zimmer did the soundtrack and it was as beautiful as the visuals. The music perfectly captured the emotion, even making me tear up at a point in the story. When there was action there is music to match the scene, heightening the immersion even more.

    This is a must play game, and with it receiving a PC port you have no excuse not to. If you're looking for something fast-paced every second then this probably isn't for you. However if you're looking for a game with an amazing story, characters, visuals and music, this IS for you.    … Expand

    I found this game looking in the catalog of games that can be downloaded through my PS membership. For the most part I did not have any issues with it but it was not a perfect game.

The game play I find horrible, controls worse than the first Resident Evil games at times, quick time sequences drawn out for a little too long each time. The acting is superb in comparison to heavy rain with Ellen paige giving a believable performance as jody the sole protagonist this time around allowing greater focus than any of heavy rains characters got. Willem dafoe and assistant stand out as supporting members and the rest are enjoyableBeyond 2 souls is better and worse than its predecessor even tho its massively overshadowed by it. The acting is superb in comparison to heavy rain with Ellen paige giving a believable performance as jody the sole protagonist this time around allowing greater focus than any of heavy rains characters got. The story is told in a time line jumping fashion which keeps u guessing but also impacts how little impact your choices have until near the end as choices affect that chapter and not many others. The gameplay is also better with the only failing being the quicktime events without prompts being hard to judge. Aiden adds a lot to the gameplay and the puzzles involving him are the best gameplay sequences over the 2 games imo. There's one really long section about 3/4s through that feels overly long and out of place, even with the fact it leads to an important event after the fact. The story is interesting and enjoyable but the supernatural tale pales in comparison to the murder mystery in heavy rain but that's down to personal preference of genre. Overall I prefer heavy rain slightly but it's worth a playthrough… Expand

Many players complained that they paid a lot of money to get such a story, but now There is no person who can say that he was wasting money. Thank you Sony for letting me touch this game. The game itself is good, the game of actors, the story is weak, but remembered, but bad grades could be avoided by removing some stupid things, like the last price in the spirit of "terminator."     I think this video game is interesting, especially for the beautiful and emotional story. In term of gameplay, it suffers like Heavy Rain. I would call this game more an immersive movie than a video game. I still had a good time with this game and the story is memorable.

    The game tries to be a Nolan movie by telling the events out of chronological order which if done correctly would be fantastic. However what this ends up doing is interupting the fun part of the game in which you play as adult Jodie with a bunch of boring young Jodie levels as she learns of the mysterious world around her. This format works in movies, but it fails in video games. It is one thing for a story based game to deliver “boring gameplay” but still be engaging with the writing. This game (when playing as adult Jodie) actually has pretty fun gameplay. The combat is confusing at first glance, but one can get the hang of it pretty quickly and it feels like you are playing the game more than just mashing the button on the screen. Stealth is super satisfying but is heavily underutilized. The stealth sections in this game are by far the most fun and interesting missions, but there simply aren’t enough of them.

    Now I played the game in English, not QA’s native French, but the writing felt awkward many times and the dialogue also felt a bit unnatural. The writing could be better in French, but the English writing leaves much to be desired.

    The plot itself is full of holes, which is not good for a plot based game, and it only gets worse on a subsequent play through. The foreshadowing is obvious and various missions feel like they belong in another game. Furthermore your choices in the game have very little impact on the ending of the game. You have far more influence than a Telltale game or Life is Strange, but far less than Heavy Rain and the true differences in endings are disappointing.

    Overall, BTS is too ambitious of a project and needed more polish before its release. The game suffers from choppy writing full of holes and boring young Jodie sequences whilst it accels based on its superb voice acting and entertaining adult Jodie sequences.

    Nevertheless, there are several good things about this game. First and foremost is the voice acting. Ellen Page and Willem Defoe do a fantastic job in this film. Beyond: Two Souls was released two years after Uncharted 3 and Witcher 2, both third-person perspectives with good movement and camera control; how did this pass playtesting?

Além, por mais que as performances de Ellen Page e Willem Dafoe sejam memoráveis, a história tenta demais ser levada a sério, mas não consegue.

    Porém, os gráficos são completamente espetaculares.

    Willem Dafoe is also excellent, in fact I'd suggest the performances in general were a step up from Heavy Rain. I would say on balance I still preferred the detective / kidnap story and characters of Heavy Rain a bit more, but I admire how completely different David Cage went with this game with its themes of loss, death, and spirituality compared to what came before, and would come after in Detroit Become Human, another very different story set in the future but some shared themes.

    The game gets a 7 on balance, as I found some of the pacing in this one debatable. The demand for 100% necessitates repeating some chapters that become more and more onerous to the detriment of the game, which I would rate a 5 for if I took those trophies into account which includes an entire re-run of the game in its 'duo' game mode (arghh) but ultimately would recommend to most people to give this game a try.    … Expand

    Atrocious, ambiguous & repetitive quicktime controls aside, the story was pretty engaging; Page & Dafoe's performances were very good. It definitely might be worth multiple playthroughs. Maybe the score will go up if I try a few more times.

    Besides the funky gameplay everything else the game has to offer is great! If you decide to play Beyond: Two Souls, which I hope you do, you'll get your enjoyment from the narrative aspect of the game.    … Expand

La historia carece de interés y no llegar aDespués de jugar a Heavy Rain, que me pareció brillante, le tenía ganas Beyond: Two Souls. Me gustan los juegos de Quantic Dream. En esta ocasión, la decepción ha sido muy grande. En su lanzamiento, la historia se jugaba desordenada sin ningún tipo de sentido Cuando sacaron una versión del año se podía jugar en orden, Bueno, no sé que es peor. La historia carece de interés y no llegar a empatizar con los personajes. Los escenarios son lineales con alguna zona más abierta pero nada del otro mundo. Es un juego cinematográfico que consiste en avanzar y tomar decisiones en las conversaciones que afectan a la historia y a su final. Poco más que decir, en mi caso, juego a estas aventuras por su historia y personajes, pero esta vez, ha resultado ser un desastre. Me parece el peor juego que ha hecho Quantic Dream.     Как по мне самая недооцененная игра . Эта игра на голову выше , чем HEAVY RAIN и DETROIT . Очень сильно запомнилась главная героиня игры ее история . По геймплею игра держит напрежение и тебе не бывает скучно .

    Beyond is an emotional journey. I remember playing the game on PS3 almost 10 years ago, was really young could not connect to the game concepts, I even remember using Aiden to mess around with people, got them real scared just for the fun of it. 

    Since I recently experienced Detroit become human on PS5, felt like replaying another quantic dream classic, so I got the PS4 version of    Beyond is an emotional journey. I remember playing the game on PS3 almost 10 years ago, was really young could not connect to the game concepts, I even remember using Aiden to mess around with people, got them real scared just for the fun of it. 

    Since I recently experienced Detroit become human on PS5, felt like replaying another quantic dream classic, so I got the PS4 version of Beyond. Not a remastered version, but it has son graphics upgrades that help avoid make the game feel too old. Too bad they could not get it to run at 1080p 60FPS on PS4.

    The experience was great! A solid 10 for me. There are a few things that felt off: in Detroit every combat interaction prompt that you don't get right will lead the scene into a different direction, but in Beyond it's just for the fun of pressing buttons while you watch the cutscenes. There are no consequences for not getting it right, the scene will flow in the same direction regardless of what you do. Also, the game makes you feel as if every choice you make has an impact, showing you a chart with the decisions you made.  But It's for nothing, the story is linear and there is no way for you to change the course of events, so it's all show for nothing. The only thing you can do is choose between life or death at the end. 

    Regardless, the experience was unique for me, so it's still a solid 10.  Quantic dream raised the bar capturing emotions with Mocap and making you feel the characters emotions. Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe have raised the bar regarding what an actor can do to perform the characters in a way that feel human and authentic in a video game.     … Expand

Simplemente magnífico, en lo personal jugué el juego por allá del 2017 y lo volví a jugar en PS4, es toda una experiencia, sin embargo los controles son un poco extraños teniendo en cuenta que jodie se limita a no correr cuando se vuelve aburrido solo caminar y caminar, además de que el manejo de la cámara con el joestick derecho es un tanto incómodo aveces, pero esto seria el único problema que le encontre.
    El juego es magnífico tiene una historia deprimente, desesperanzadora en ocasiones, y llena de acción, la historia es no lineal, es decir se completa con diferentes fragmentos de la vida de jodie que ayudan a entender porque está vinculada con una entidad y como fue su niñez etc, de todos modos el juego da la opción de jugarlo cronológicamente.
    Las decisiones pueden influir poco o realmente mucho a lo largo de la trama y para más explícito en el final.    … Expand

    Graphics are not a soap, but they are not a breakthrough for 2015 either.
    the gameplay is funny if you play with each other at each other yelling what to do and how to proceed.

    A non linear bunch of nonsense. David Cage at his worst. Telling it non linear renders most of the choices irrelevant. Making it just on big pile of set pieces, that don't fit together.

    Absolutely fantastic acting for Ellen Page! Plot is intriguing, like always, and exploring is amazing, like always, for Quantic Dream.

    To me, this game was more like a nice movie with an engaging story rather than a game that counts on you interacting with it.
    On the positive side, the graphics and visuals are just beautiful, Ellen Page's acting is really great and the story is certainly good enough.     Un juego muy bueno sin duda pero es verdad que a comparacion de otros de parte de Quantic Dream deja mucho que desear en el aspecto narrativo e incluso jugable ya que en este genero el cual es el de aventura graficca debe existir un balance entre jugabilidad y cinematica en este caso esta algo desbalanseado, y tocando el ambito narrativo el titulo cuenta con una historia bastante buenaUn juego muy bueno sin duda pero es verdad que a comparacion de otros de parte de Quantic Dream deja mucho que desear en el aspecto narrativo e incluso jugable ya que en este genero el cual es el de aventura graficca debe existir un balance entre jugabilidad y cinematica en este caso esta algo desbalanseado, y tocando el ambito narrativo el titulo cuenta con una historia bastante buena pero sin ser gran ya que en ocaciones es realmente predecible, forzosa y sosa pero esto no le quita el interes a la trama, en el apartado tecnico hay una gran mejoria respecto a su version original de ps3 la cual le costaba el correr este titulo cosa que con la ps4 no sucede y ademas de esto hay una mejoria grafica notable. otra cuestion que nos ayuda a sumergir a los distintos titulos que hemos podido disfrutar es sin duda su sonido, en este juego realmente no destaca para nada su banda sonora es bastante simple y sus efectos de sonidos nada del otro mundo pero sin duda lo volveria a jugar una y otra vez para ber los distintos finales y con esto se hace entender que cuenta con una gran rejugablilidad.… Expand

    Improved graphics I appriciate that I do not think I would play it if it was not for this version.
    I love the ability of taking your own choices that lead into different endings.
    There was some complex things in the story but generally I liked it.
    Something to keep in mind the camera angles were not the best.
    Over all this game was a good experience.

    For me the most important feature of this remaster is the inclusion of the optional chronological mode. It makes the story a bit less flashy but way easier to comprehend. [01/2016, p.65]

    Beyond: Two Souls would've fared a lot better if it had even more visual detail, other control options and extra content to make it more like a director's cut. As it stands, though, it's a great conversion of a pretty good Quantic Dream development, mind its storytelling issues and quick-time event gameplay. Plus, it won't kill your wallet being priced for only $30. That's something even invisible deities can appreciate.
