    I got this game for free as part of PS+ membership. I have never played games like this before but I've got to say i am intrigued to say at least. This is more like a highly interactive movie than a game but it is very cool nonetheless. Visuals are strong, acting is good and the story is interesting so far.     One of the most pleasant gaming experiences I have enjoyed in a very long time. I can understand how some folks might not enjoy the lack of challenge or competition, but I found the game sufficiently stimulating to make me feel like an active participant in a wonderful story set in a vibrant world and fully-stocked with absolutely fantastic acting that was a huge step up from the usualOne of the most pleasant gaming experiences I have enjoyed in a very long time.     this game is awesome.. Ellen page is great character in this game. voice acting is great.. story is pretty good. graphic is stunning. this game must be buy for newcomers to play and enjoy it. Gameplay is good..

    This game is really a masterpiece. The performance of Ellen Page, music, story, art management, director is extraordinary. Many times during the game my eyes filled with tears. These kinds of productions definitely need to proliferate. If possible, the continuation of this game should come.

    I can't call this masterpiece a game this is EXPERIENCE! Experience that is guilty to avoid one of the greatest artwork of gaming art. I'm 41 years old man and I was crying like a baby few times during this amazing story. Beyond: Two Souls is the must have piece of art for people with brains and sense.

    I think this remastered version is much better than the original in the aspects of timeline, game functons, graphics, etc. If you have PS4, you should play it whether you buy it or borrow it.

    Excellent game.

    This is my first review in Metacritic. I feel obliged to give this game some credit, i can understand is not a game for everyone but through it all is a fantastic experience. Like being submerged in a movie, knowing every action you take is actually going to be of consequence. Sometimes regretting not having the chance to comeback, or acknowledging you could have done    Excellent game.

The visuals are great, the acting superb (if you have Ellen and Dafoe what can you expect!).

    I don't wanna to give any spoilers, just want to recommend it to the ppl out there. Is been a long time since was out, so is very cheap and i think is a very good investment quality-price wise.

    Perfection. An absolutely captivating story, great development for the characters, and fun/interesting gameplay. Not to mention that it's easily one of the best looking games this generation, despite being "just a remaster." An absolute must play.

    From what I've read its either "I hate it" or "I love it" and for me I can definitely say: I love it! Its one of the best games I ever played. I still can't decide if "The Last of Us" has the best story or "Beyond: Two Souls". I think due to this story its even better than "Heavy Rain".     This game is a masterpiece. I wasn't expecting too much, but the incredible story, JODIE, the visuals, the intuitive gameplay are so amazing, you wouldn't want to miss this! :)

    Both Heavy Rain and this game are absolutely awesome. I preferred HR slightly more, but boy do the people at Quantic Dreams know how to make a game! All the finer details that gamers complain about of games today cannot be said of these two. Instant classics of mine that should really have rated higher by critics.

    I played Beyond Two Souls PS4 in May 2017 and I didn't know earlier that it is sooo awesome game!!! I love it so much that it is one of the best games I have ever played! (and I play games since 1987!) Amazing graphics, incredible genius story!!! Just simply go and buy and play this game!!! The story is so great like MGS2, MGS3 great!!!     i dont get the Negative ratings for this game...

    it is an important game with an important Story, the theories of the game are thinkable & acceptable, all the spent emotion for this game are noticeable, ellen page was right, it was not appreciated...

    at least im happy cuz my score made the rating from 7.9 to 8 : )

    An experience like no other. There may be some things to dislike about this game but it's sure to leave a lasting impression and memories of at least half the game's scenes and story. Quantic Dream games are on another level. A truly incredible experience.

    + Characters: Great characters background, great division of villians and protagonists.

    Very long time I tried to find some negatives, but I could not. Probably only negative is that B:TS was originally released on PS3 and David Cage did not before released on PS3 Detroit: Become Human. I am following David Cage work since Fahrenheit and I think B:TS is his opus magnum and no other game story he will create will be able to overcome B:TS. I think in this sense, B:TS is his curse, as it is seen on case of Detroit: Become Human which I gave only 7/10 score.
    I fully recommend this game to everyone!
    PS: Maybe I found one negative, movements of player character is a bit annoying.    … Expand

    This is like watching a 10 hour actiln film but you are interacting with it. I don't normally like the action genre but this thing was fun. Sometimes I lost track of the objective though and wandered off the wrong way. You get options to get revenge, to help and to cause havoc and it is incredibly well made. It was great to see the making of videos after I played it too, the production effort really shows. Don't spoil it by watching things on it, just play it. Get PS Now for a month, you will get 3 nights out of this and then you have 200 games left to get your claws in to as well.

    Possibly one of the best games I have ever played. Just an amazing interactive drama that keeps you engaged and can easily be compared to a highly rated movie. Enjoyed every second of it.

    I cant belive that this game scored 72 at metacritic. You can make a differend choise for the ending.In my opinion this is the masterpiece. But the game time was quite a little bit short.

    It's been 7 years and I have finally touched that masterpiece. After playing RDR2 or Witcher III , I didn't think anything could make me so touched with the story. Yes , there are some problems with repetitive gameplay and poor game design, however the story just takes in on the BEYOND level!

    Picked this game up with the Box set, had Beyond: Two Souls, Heavy Rain, and Detroit: Become Human. This was the first one I decided to play and I am so blown away by the story telling, the acting, the graphics. It is a true master piece for sure. Can not wait to get into Heavy Rain and Detroit as well. I hope they are on the same level as this game.

    This game is absolutely worth the money and the time for me.I played it through so many times because the story is versatile so you will see a lots of diffrent places, the plot keeps you entertained and the game is long enough.The acting is great plus this game looks amazing.They built a nice fictional world as a base.

    I played PC version of the game, but it wasn't optimized. Well, I may say I played PS4 one.

    Good:
    - story;
    - Helen Page and other actors;
    - storyline narrative;
    - dynamics;
    - emotions.

    Minus:
    - sometimes face animation is shown wrong (strange face expressions);
    - background textures.

    Anyways I think it's a great game and I will definitely replay it.

I'd like to see the sequel (in apocalypse decorations for example) but not sure if creators have this in their minds. Shame that so many people found Heavy rain a cool thing but dislike Beyond. I love the actors, their voices, their emotions. the story and our brotherI'm happy to live at time when you can enjoy such a masterpiece like Beyond: Two Souls. Consider it the best game for me.     The only major drawback of the game is the low impact of the choices on the story, but on the other hand, it has so many good features that it can be ignored.

Got the game free from Ps+ subscription and wasnt expecting a lot from only a average of 72 score, but that is so misleading. Although the game has one point where it lacks - the camera, its some times fustrating to control. But the good in thisAbsolute disgrace having this game rated so low. The story is just amazing!     Beyond is an emotional journey. I remember playing the game on PS3 almost 10 years ago, was really young could not connect to the game concepts, I even remember using Aiden to mess around with people, got them real scared just for the fun of it. 

    Since I recently experienced Detroit become human on PS5, felt like replaying another quantic dream classic, so I got the PS4 version of    Beyond is an emotional journey. I remember playing the game on PS3 almost 10 years ago, was really young could not connect to the game concepts, I even remember using Aiden to mess around with people, got them real scared just for the fun of it. 

    Since I recently experienced Detroit become human on PS5, felt like replaying another quantic dream classic, so I got the PS4 version of Beyond. Not a remastered version, but it has son graphics upgrades that help avoid make the game feel too old. Too bad they could not get it to run at 1080p 60FPS on PS4.

    The experience was great! A solid 10 for me. There are a few things that felt off: in Detroit every combat interaction prompt that you don't get right will lead the scene into a different direction, but in Beyond it's just for the fun of pressing buttons while you watch the cutscenes. There are no consequences for not getting it right, the scene will flow in the same direction regardless of what you do. Also, the game makes you feel as if every choice you make has an impact, showing you a chart with the decisions you made.  But It's for nothing, the story is linear and there is no way for you to change the course of events, so it's all show for nothing. The only thing you can do is choose between life or death at the end. 

    Regardless, the experience was unique for me, so it's still a solid 10.  Quantic dream raised the bar capturing emotions with Mocap and making you feel the characters emotions. Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe have raised the bar regarding what an actor can do to perform the characters in a way that feel human and authentic in a video game.     … Expand

Simplemente magnífico, en lo personal jugué el juego por allá del 2017 y lo volví a jugar en PS4, es toda una experiencia, sin embargo los controles son un poco extraños teniendo en cuenta que jodie se limita a no correr cuando se vuelve aburrido solo caminar y caminar, además de que el manejo de la cámara con el joestick derecho es un tanto incómodo aveces, pero esto seria el único problema que le encontre.
    El juego es magnífico tiene una historia deprimente, desesperanzadora en ocasiones, y llena de acción, la historia es no lineal, es decir se completa con diferentes fragmentos de la vida de jodie que ayudan a entender porque está vinculada con una entidad y como fue su niñez etc, de todos modos el juego da la opción de jugarlo cronológicamente.
    Las decisiones pueden influir poco o realmente mucho a lo largo de la trama y para más explícito en el final.    … Expand

    This is an absolutely stunning game visually with fantastic acting and story. Even 8 years later this game looks great. I have played this game multiple times. Would HIGHLY recommend if you’re into heavily story driven games (or works of art in the case of this game). Would recommend playing on PC with controller.

    Le jeu est incroyable. L'histoire est géniale, les personnages sont bien écrits (pour la plupart...), le tout pour donner un jeu qui fait vivre de réelles émotions au joueur en lui faisant vivre une aventure unique. Pour moi, ce jeu est une œuvre d'art.

    I liked the gameplay too. You play partly as Jodie and partly as an "entity" (ghost) that is attached to here by a ~10m long tether. Playing as the ghost was fun. You get to do all the standard poltergeist stuff, knock objects around, flicker lights, and then there's full-on possession! I felt like my choices had real impact on the flow of events across the game. One of the chapters I enjoyed most was just trying to make dinner as an inexperienced cook on a tight timetable. It was great characterization. It was something I could sympathize with.

    I enjoyed the way the concept was played out in the world. What would nations do if they had citizens with these abilities? Parents? Scientists? I think, as all good science fiction does, it asked, 'What if?' It answered the question creatively and effectively. If you like games with a heavy focus on player-choice and quick-time events, (Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit, TellTale, Life is Strange, etc.) try this out!    … Expand

    Absolute story masterpiece. Made me cry! "Homeless" chapter is the most human videogame story i've ever played. And i actually came across a homeless pregnant lady during my Christmas break in Nevada. Extra personal for me. Absolute heart wrenching.

The gameplay is quite easy, it is especially based on quick time events. The highlights in this games are the acting, the graphics, also the settings are good and above all the story which is based on the questions which anyone asks himself in his lifetime, like: What happens when you die? Is there another world? Do our deceased loved ones watch us and help us?
    In conclusion, it's really an original idea and well developed. I give a 9/10 because the story is not too long, but it is intense.    … Expand

    Another masterpiece for PlayStation. Great story, great actors, music and probably best graphics i ever seen (considering this game is from 2013).
    Once again, a remastered game worth (like with The Last of Us or Uncharted)

    I don't give a 10 just because there is not much interactivity along the game, but actually, we knew it.

    This game is absolutely amazing. I didn't had the chane to play it on a PS3 and i'm very happy that it was released on PS4. I don't understand the low scores. How can you give a 3 or a 4 to this masterpiece??? The graphics are almost amazing and the story will make you cry, and you will cry a lot. I created a Metacritic account just to review this game. Please try it and you'll never regret.

    This is my second playthrough after a year and my rate still the same. Very good game although not for everyone. This game is more focus on the plot and has much less action than most of games but it's still a good experience. I don't know. Just read some other reviews and decide if this game is meant for you or not.

    Beyond Two Souls is at the same time, amazing and boring. The graphics look better than most of the games in this gen (PlayStation 4, Xbox One), the story is one of the best i've ever saw in a game but the gameplay is annoying and the options you make doesn't change the story like they did in Heavy Rain.

    - You don't care for stories over gameplay. There IS gameplay and I liked it, but you're basically just an entity fiddling around with stuff and doing whatever you want around Jodie. You also help her out when she asks or even get in her way when you (Aiden) get jealous. Consider yourself a guardian angel more than the actual player. You'll also control Jodie, but predominantly you are Aiden.
    - You like to have a lot of choices. There are choices, obviously, and you can even choose from about four different endings, but they're short and nothing special. The choices throughout the game won't leave a significant impact. The story continues regardless, but they're fun to make. Think of them as opportunities to shape Aiden's personality a little (vengeful or forgiving, caged animal or tame entity).

    This game isn't for everyone, but I will say definitively that it isn't bad. Those who rate it poorly just because it isn't their kind of game are wasting everyone's time. Ignore them and go for the facts, instead.    … Expand

    Fantastic game, great story, good visuals.
    Excellent voice acting and wonderful dialogues
    This game amazed and fell in love with me from the first second.
    The game, although it has some drawbacks, in the form of a wretched (for me) stealth in some missions, but still this game, so far, remains for me the best in the genre of interactive cinema

    This game is more exciting and deep than Detroit. Wish there is a sequel. The actors gave their 200%. The only downside is the clumsy control - i would replay it if its fixed

    Almost a 10 to me. Spectacular acting from everyone involved especially Ellen Page. Great looking game with a great story too. I’d recommend this game to everyone with a gaming station. Beyond Two Souls is a “hell of a ride.”

    yeah, i decided, i'm sad and grumpy so let's throw the tomatoes first: wtf this **** camera, come on. what really pisses me off is this games being released again but the mofos don't even fix the little things from the other video-game. it's the essence of 7 slots this **** but ok, that and the kind of confusing controls, cant take away the shine of the game. especially because it's main core power making that is the story is beautiful. of course it has flaws bla bla bla, but just feel it it's cool.

I just have a few problems with the camera which sometimes don't want to look at things that i want to look at and I just hope they added a few game mechanics in the game rather that just pushing certain qte buttons to progress but overall the story wasI registered just to say that this game is awesome lol.     Ellen Page is superb as Jodie Holms and even the child actress that plays the young Jodie is impressive. Willem Defoe plays Nathan Dawkins a sort of surrogate father to Jodie and although he does a good job a few of his line deliveries are a little phoned in.

    The visuals have been given the 1080p beef up and overall its been cleaned up for a nicer smoother look. You get the DLC included with the game called 'Advanced Experiments' it is short but adds a little bit of value to the price. If you like Telltales games then this is easy to recommend however, if you hate interactive stories and like blasting things in the face with a shotgun for no reason other than "It's fun" then I would say stay away. Yes Heavy Rain is better but Beyond utilises better character models with superior performance capture, better looking environments and a more stable and believable cast.

It was scary, sad, happy and moving all at the same time. Willem Dafoe and Ellen Page put in great performances which really helped push the story.     David Cage's next game after the success of Heavy Rain has had mixed response with good reason. I really enjoyed his games and I like this one as well. I've always been a fan of cinematic gameplay and this one has it. Ellen Page, and Willem Dafoe were great characters in this one as well.

    For me the most important feature of this remaster is the inclusion of the optional chronological mode. It makes the story a bit less flashy but way easier to comprehend. [01/2016, p.65]

    Beyond: Two Souls would've fared a lot better if it had even more visual detail, other control options and extra content to make it more like a director's cut. As it stands, though, it's a great conversion of a pretty good Quantic Dream development, mind its storytelling issues and quick-time event gameplay. Plus, it won't kill your wallet being priced for only $30. That's something even invisible deities can appreciate.
