Well....first off let me start by I am a big COD fan although I became quickly board with AW. This installment of Battlefield is great if you ask me, lets be real its only so many storylines worth folks time to put out here on the market for FPS game. And all the other good story lines are currently held with an title associated to them, Hardline is the most complete of the series if I must say. The feel of the game is authentic physics are better than previous titles and maps are more relatable due presenting a time current environment. To me its a waste of time to talk graphics, if any aspect of having these next gen consoles would be to expect great visuals unless you have a X1. I purchased Hardline instead of new Mortal Combat and this is after I purchased the DLC for CODAW that was just released. Basically if your looking to send $60 on a game just be sure it will keep you entertained, as for the other FPS titles currently out Hardline out performs them and I would consider the COD series top of the tier of FPS and Hardline blows it out the water easily on all levels I highly recommend this purchase. Oh I know your like he didn't talk about online play, that's because unless your from the stone age or still using a 2 way pager to text you would know battlefield has one oh the best Multiplayer platforms period and leads in the FPS not opinion just fact. Do what I do review games here see screenshots and video and then I go over to Twitch and watch live gameplay from gamers just like me hope to see you on the Battlefield hit me up on PS4 ! Expand

If you like to wait along time before you spawn, an inability to swap teams to play with your friend, spawning in locations surrounded by enemies, waiting along time between respawning and very dull game modes. Then this is the game for you. Compared to BF4 (which also has a few issues but much improved since launch) this game is it's retarded cousin. The cops and robbers theme doesn't really work in my opinion and this game would be best left as a military theme. It's a shame as Battlefield titles seem to have got progressively worse over the last few years. BF3 had great gameplay. BF4 a little less. Hardline...well it should be shot and left in the desert like Atari's E.T.
If this game is ridiculously cheap or free, sure...try it but I'm sure you'll just end up playing BF4 again after 10mins of this crap.

Bought this game, played an hour and sold it on - IT'S JUST A BF4 DLC/RE-SKIN

Well done EA, once again you manage to prove yourselves as soulless money grabbing shysters that churn out old sh*t in a new box for the same price.

I hope you are voted worst company again, because this and battlefront are just a joke.

Again, eat sh*t EA, you greedy scum.

Battlefield Hardline not worth to wait. This game is just looking like BF4 in other setting. And as BF4, Hardline has boring campaign and solid multiplayer cutted to more pieces of future DLCs. DLC, DLC,DLC...

Vehicle wise, there are a couple of choppers and basically the jeep with the machine gun from Battlefield 4.. no tanks, jets, etc. All the maps are pretty tiny, and everything is really closed off so almost all combat is close quarters hectic spray and pray.. But don't worry, if you die, just respawn in 3 seconds right back in the "action" to shoot some helpless player in the back. Expand

-Bad scoring (your +xp% applies to your score during the game, aka top spot will always be someone with a +200% bonus, these points were applied after the match in BF4, which, you know, makes sense.)
-Poor attempts at making the game last longer by making you purchase every item twice (once for each team).

The only thing I enjoyed about this game was the single player. Oh and another -1 rating because there was only roughly 5 hours of single player.

Overall I regret buying this game and wish i bought it physically so I could return it.

I loved ghost recon, splinter cell, even uncharted. The reason I mention these titles is because hardline is trying very hard to be like these games. While call of duty - AW was a major let down, keeping to tradition it's still ahead of hardline.

One more thing, while the developers are constantly saying they build this game with our feedback to develop this game, they actually cannot take a bit of polite criticism at launch (I really wonder how they took user feedback in spirit). When I pointed out some bugs on day 01 on a forum, they deleted my comments. If they have a good game, why are they afraid to acknowledge basic gameplay issues that their customer is facing. Very poor show.

What a waste of time, money, and gaming entertainment. I am off battlefield franchise permanently.

Great game, very polished. The new game modes are fun, addictive and chaotic but retain the teamwork ever present in battlefield. Dont miss out on this because of battlefield 4s launch, it has less bugs than bf4 even when bf4s had over a year to fix them.

In addition, they tried to put Cops and Robbers into Battlefield, which could've been okay, but it's too mixed of a setting. The campaign can sometimes be SO confusing. Especially when they're putting in the Battlefield setting. The multiplayer is also lacking... quality. The re-spawn takes SO LONG, you clearly die too quickly, it's actually a little confusing, and customization isn't that good. I got Advanced Warfare earlier, which was MUCH better. Overall, not worth $70, for sure, but maybe $40. Quite the disappointment, especially since my receipt flew away on a windy day. :( Expand

U never buy a game and give it a 0. Dont be like cod fanboys who want same sh*t every year. And yes,45% of the ppl who gave it a 0 are cod fanboys. OK u like tanks & jets, but atleast try playing it. AND if u dont want to play it, then dont come around here destroying hardlines image. And its because of u haters, the best of the games also get reduced to 6-6.5 on user score. So here's my opinion on the game:
    PROS
    1. Multiplayer is faster and is more simple.
    2. Maps are less but are wide ranged from short to long.
    3. Hotwire and heist are the best bf modes ever.
    4. Stealth mechanic in single layer is a bit comical and weird, but it allows players to have a different approach to every level.
    5. Progression system in cash is a good way to get good guns early.
    6. Guns feel stable and their recoil is well adjusted

    CONS
    1. Story is same from all crime dramas.
    2. Hotwire's money system is unbalanced as players can get cash easily by just sitting in a car.
    3. No. of guns are less.
    4. Xp boost system is complicated.

To the critics as well, u gave bf hardline 6 or 7 because u disliked its campaign, so bf4 deserves 5-6.5 score on the basis of the campaign, bcoz bfh campaign in MUCH MUCH MUCH better than bf4's then how does it get 8 or 9's? Multiplayer of the two is a debatable topic, but for me, hardline is faster and better. Yes, the cops and robbers theme sux, but it serves to lay a foundation for new modes and exept rescue, all modes are good.
P.S.: Critics and haters should see gamespot's lobby discussion on this game where the guy said that bf hardline's multiplayer is "more fun than bf4 ". Then i again ask gamespot, why bfh a 7 and bf4 a 8?

I brought it home at midnight on release, downloaded the surprisingly small (128 mb) update, and played some single player while I waited for the rest of the game to install. In BF3 and BF4, i just stopped playing the campaigns after about an hour. This one is the best written one since the Bad Company games. The set pieces also work well, and the stealth gameplay is solid.

But as for the multiplayer? Its much faster paced and will win over the more mature COD players. Don't expect to die at the hand of an autistic five year old (little **** in COD). But if one side controls a certain point in the large 64 player conquest mode, the other bases will turn over much more quickly for that team. Not like COD Advanced Warfare. Which was retarded. That multiplayer was unplayable in domination. But you'll strategize to defend one point more instead of going on the offense if that key point is being attacked.

The upgrade system for soldiers is much more simple. Gone are the days of unlocking a scope for a rifle you will never ever use or even unlock itself. You purchase each weapon and then unlock sight, accessory, and muzzle attachment categories after 30, 60, and 90 kills respectively. Love a gun? Hit 90 kills and you can easily buy anything for it. Be prepared to have a cop set up and a robber set up though.

Also, most reviewers miss this. You can set different load outs up based on the type of multiplayer you're playing. Those modes are varied enough this aspect makes a huge difference.

And yes. No tanks. Heavy trucks with machine guns on them though. Still take a few hits with grenades and rockets, but they're best used in conjunction with infantry as an added boost instead of the main assault.

In essence nothing that would clue you into the fact that this is a battlefield game. If you did not know the title of the game you would assume it was a poor CoD imitation with vehicles thrown in.

Leveling system feels very unrewarding and bugs are already appearing.

The campaign while intriguing is far too short to make up for the glaring oversights of the Multi-player.

In the end Hardline is nothing but a glorified DLC for Battlefield 4 but doesn't have any of the things that make Battlefield 4 great. A blatant money grab by EA hoping that uninformed gamers will buy it on name alone rather than do their research first.

With much better games like Bloodborne on the way and much better value for the same price like The Handsome Collection I would strongly recommend that everyone hold off and if you must have it I would wait until you can buy it used or on sale.

It kills the atmosphere and just doesn't look like a modern game.

Gameplay wise this is just OK. Not incredible or innovative. It feels more like CS or CoD than Battlefield, big time. That Battlefield feel is barely there. I understand this is a spin-off, but it doesn't have that epic all-out war feel. It just feels like very quick skirmishes between police and robbers. There is a ton of camping, too.... a ton. People just wait by a road with an RPG in Hotwire and they get instakills way too easily. Netcode problems are still rampant: I had 4 trades in my first hour of play and I died behind cover twice, as well. Vehicle physics improved by about 3%--yeah, hardly anything, really. Vehicle movement and physics are still unrealistic and poor.

Campaign isn't too bad. The story is very cliche, but it's occasionally funny. Visuals still suffer in campaign.

Hardline brings some new things to the table (modes, etc), but overall it lacks a Battlefield-feel and a comprehensive sense of quality and care. I'm not sure this is Visceral's cup of tea.

When you think of "Battlefield," most people think of large scale maps with infantry and vehicular combat over Frostbite destructible maps. Well, take what you know about previous Battlefields and throw this out the window.

    Campaign -
I have not completed that much of campaign, but enough to get a feel for it. I do like how it is made into a TV News Broadcast/Series. When you leave the campaign, you are departed with a "COMING UP ON HARDLINE" snippet. When you join the campaign back, its "PREVIOUSLY ON HARDLINE," just to get you caught up.

What rubs me the wrong way about the campaign is, the gun selection is pretty bland. You get a few pistols and a few rifles. The pistols are your primary weapon. If two cops are conducting a drug bust, first off do you think it would only be two cops they send in? How about arming them with pistols as primary weapons.

Second, you have the opportunity to go "covert" with the missions. You can throw shell casings or rocks to distract your enemy and get them to look the other way, to great them with a POLICE. DROP YOUR WEAPONS. They drop the weapons and you can handcuff them. This has a downside to it though.

When subjects are complying, your gun freezes and you are not allowed shooting them. So.. with that being said, you come up behind three people and display your badge to them. One complies, the other two are about to shoot you - you can't shoot them because one subject is surrendering. Mediocre at best. The campaign is predictable, but its what you make of it in my opinion.

    Now, the best part. MULTIPLAYER.

For a general multiplayer overview, you have to purchase all your weapons with in game cash that you get from getting kills, revives, objectives, all the fun stuff. With the cash, you can buy equipment, camos, guns, and battlepacks. Each "class" has 4 different load out options that you can create. The bummer, each class has maybe 5 guns max that you can use. The robbers and the cops have different classes of guns, in which you have to purchase on both sides. The game has been glitchy since I have gotten it and when I start multiplayer, all my guns are locked, INCLUDING the one that you start out with. I've had to join a game multiple times with just a baseball bat. The guns then unlock after you get the first kill.

Lets break down the games accordingly.

Team Deathmatch - Now runs on 64? 66? 60-something players... RIDICULOUS. The map sizes are smaller than prior battlefield team deathmatch maps so there is constantly enemies spawning next to you and behind you. Its rare that you survive more than 20 seconds.
It takes a full clip to kill somebody and half the shots don't register.

Hardcore mode is no longer hard core. The bullet damage is not increased, only health regeneration is remove, friendly fire is on, and the HUD is removed (including the list of people that are in your squad.) It still takes a clip to kill an enemy.

Heist - This game mode is typical cops and robbers. The robbers break into a safe and steal money and have to escort 2 brief cases to an extraction zone while cops attempt to prevent this. This game mode was in the beta and ran almost flawlessly. Not in the real game. On half the maps, the briefcases are in the same building, if not, the same room. Team mates are always spawning on each other and the whole map becomes a cluster. Its not long before your team gives up trying to play the objective and just run around and try to get kills.

That games that do get going and you're kind of having a decent time (which is a rare occasion), you're greeted with a black screen followed by a message "you have lost connection to the server."
Blame it on my internet would be the typical response I'd expect, only it happens to everybody I play with. Read the facebook comments on their page if you don't believe me.

The maps look like garbage and remind me of something Call of Duty would make.

A night map with street lights and your team is on the hill makes your character cast a shadow on to the street. You don't see the hill you are standing on, just a floating shadow back and forth.

The same night map has a burning fire in the distance. The fire does not move, but the smoke has a ripple effect to make it seem like flames.

In the maps where a dust storm hits or a hurricane, the trees and bushes don't "blow," they trees bend and the leaves on the bushes and trees flap back and worth, like you're playing with a picture in paint.

In the campaign, there's a laptop that you are "skyping" a main character in, the laptop is missing the number 6. Laziness? Or just ignorance.

Overall, I do not recommend this game to anyone. Ever since E3 and during the Betas, I promoted the heck out of this and now I feel like I've been lied to. I bought the premium when I bought the game and I wish I could take it back. This is not Battlefield.

The multiplayer game is what holds the game to the Battlefield line, and continuing the trend from BC2 BF3 and BF4: Hardline is successfully the worst. For no reason at all, the same experience unlocking progression and class system are back. The secondary weapons are now locked by class rather than available throughout all classes.
The worse thing yet is the new weapon progression. Money is given like points, which is then used to purchase weapons and upgrades after they have been unlocked by experience. Although the money is pooled, the unlocks are completely separate. The progression per side is separate as well, creating an imbalance of power as one side gets access to specific weapons before the other. Knowing that on the 'police' side a player can get their favorite SMG, but the 'criminals' side has the best assault rifle, then being forced to choose between the two because the player doesn't have the money for both, just seems ludicrous.
It seems like EA didn't learn anything from the maps its players didn't enjoy on BF4. Returning elevators, more predictable spawning, and even smaller choke-points make the fast and camping players even more annoying than ever. Vehicles are also more annoying, as the helicopters have taken a step backward in stability, while some anti-vehicle weapons must now be found on map (which can then be camped).
Overall, this is another in a line of downhill replications that force longer grinding out of less content, all put in with a pretty picture. This game may end up being the last Battlefield title I ever buy.

I understand it is not a traditional Battlefield game in that the environment is not entirely destructible (more focus on the small set pieces) and the focus on vehicle combat has been greatly reduced. The game also moves at a much faster pace, with more punishing bullet damage and a stronger emphasis on quick, calculated combat. This is Visceral's love letter to CS and Payday, and they write it beautifully. All mechanics feel smooth and load times are FAST by comparison to other Battlefield entries (from end game to new spawn maybe 30 seconds). I personally had no server issues at all in my 5 hour play test span, which is a damn miracle in itself. The gun variety is there but not overwhelming, and you need money to purchase everything (or hope you get lucky when opening a Battle Pack), so making that next purchase has a weight to it similar to that found in Payday. All modes actually feel different rather than the typical Battlefield MO of using the same mechanic is a slightly larger (or smaller) setting. The 32-32 Team Deathmatch was a blast, as well as the signature Heist mode and the Counter Strike clone mode "Rescue". Vehicles are a little too cut and dry, and it almost feels like they are used almost exclusively for travel purposes. The driving mechanics are solid and very reminiscent of traditional Battlefield controls and responsiveness. Gun-play is solid, not much in terms of evolution on the new engine, which is probably my biggest gripe. The game is incredibly detailed and the level design is gorgeous, but there is a TON of empty space in many levels. With the focus moving to more of a fast paced, CQC style play and vehicles being put on the back-burner, it seems strange to force these mechanics to be useful with the addition of vast, empty landscapes. However, it detracts very little from the overall experience, and having Ted Nugent belting out the lyrics to Stranglehold while I siege a mansion from the front seat of a cop car is a priceless memory I will cherish for some time. 9/10, Visceral proves they can run with a good concept, and re-imagines the world of Battlefield with great success. Battlefield Hardline proves that replacing the franchise landmarks (large maps, wide array of vehicles and weapons) for a narrow, twitch-gameplay, cops and robbers experience is as dumb as it sounds. Luckily the wait for Star Wars Battlefront shouldn't be long now and this miscarriage of the EA-Money Machine can hopefully soon be forgotten.

The gameplay is slick and fast-paced, I havent encountered any glitches or other problems with the gameplay. The only issue I do have is the rather annoying habit enemies have of spawning behind a position you are trying to hold down without having a squad member to spawn on or any reason to spawn there.

Im a big fan of the player and weapon level progression with both assignment completion and individual weapon leveling needed to unlock more advanced weapons and gadgets, this offers the player a reason to expand their play to include a wider range of weapons and classes in order to unlock specific weapons they may want to use.

The single player so far has kept my interests up, offering a typical action motivated cop vs crook story line, the introduction of the cop abilities really makes for more interesting gamplay, offering the player the ability to arrest and taze enemies. This gives the chance to play the game in a stealth style which is a great option to have.

Overall Id say Batllefield Hardline offers and fresh innovative look at a genre that has lost somewhat of its edge as of late, its definitely a more well rounded campaign experience than has been on offer from its rivals in recent years and has multiplayer that will remain exciting for a long time.

Snipers aren't as dominant as in Battlefield 4 but are still really over powered. Assault class got really nerfed. Support is really lack luster and under powered however Engineers did get a massive boost in playability. Having to buy weapons on both factions is a tedious endeavor as a good weapon unlocked on one side but not on the other can put a player at a real disadvantage. Bullets hit only half the time. Melee can NOT be turned off still! Neither can crouching, accidentally pressing down on R3 in mid fight will get you killed. There are times I've keep trying to shoot someone but accidentally used melee. The melee only switches back to weapons if you're reloading. Having to decide what perk you want also consumes time and gets you killed very easily and quickly.

Over all, this game is only for the sadists and 7 year olds who don't know what a good game is. This game is broken and horrible and NOT worth your $50-$60. Only really sick (mentally) people would continue playing this game. The single player cannot save it as it's a game based on multiplayer.

This is not Call Of Duty, it should not feel like I'm playing it. None of these scenarios should even be in this game considering you are a cop.

Now onto the multiplayer; it has a variety of maps and locations, but that's where the positives start and end. No more levelution (besides a sandstorm and a crane) no destruction of buildings, 4 guns per class, per faction (cops or criminals) and a stupid way of using a cop gun as a criminal or vice versa. In order to do this you have to get 2,500 kills with the weapon. It has bad character models with cookie cutter criminal voice acting and models. From a technical standpoint the game is mostly perfect. Glitches are rare and only minor when they do pop up. The voice acting is phenomenal, the soundtrack makes great use of licensed music, and it just all around sounds great. The area where it mostly stumbles is in the graphics. Character models look fantastic. Facial expressions and other animations are near-flawless. There's a great attention to detail in regards to things like clothing that really make these characters feel lifelike. The same can't be said for the environments. Everything has sort of a plastic look to it. The majority of the game's levels make use of generic and bland scenery. While the characters look incredible, the environments are far from current gen.

The new focus on police action actually breathes some new life in the campaign. The story is pretty entertaining and has some good characters. The way it's set up, with levels bring called "episodes," show that the game is trying to capture the feel of those police dramas we see on TV. However it quickly devolves into action-movie junk food that kind of throws logic to the wind. It's still hard to complain as it's still entertaining thanks to some solid writing and likable characters. The humor is also appreciated.

The campaign's gameplay also fares well. The change in focus from soldiers to cops also plays a role here as well. For one thing you don't have to go through it all guns blazing. There's a pretty satisfying stealth element to it. Catching enemies unaware let's you flash the badge and use the nonlethal option of arresting them. It's a pretty cool new way to play that makes the campaign feel different than the average affair modern shooters pop out. There are still plenty of action packed moments for the more explosion hungry gamers out there.

For all of the campaign's solid elements it doesn't change the fact that it has the same problem as every other modern, multiplayer focused FPS: it's really only good for a playthrough or two. Some extra collectibles are scattered throughout to entice you to come back at least once more, but it just won't last you long. However I still enjoyed the campaign. I would have preferred some actual teammate AI (they literally just stand around and don't help you at all), but overall I wouldn't mind seeing a continuation of the story in a Hardline 2.

As always with these types of games the emphasis is definitely on the multiplayer. Some new modes make their way to the series that tie into the police vs. criminals theme of the game. "Heist" and "Hotwire" are the standouts. These new modes focus on objectives that keep the action moving. The result is matches that keep players directly involved in the action and almost constantly moving. This type of gameplay is at odds with what longtime Battlefield fans have come to expect from the series. The more fast-paced, close quarters feel of these modes have already been accused of being more Call of Duty than Battlefield.

If that's not your cup of tea then don't worry. Hardline's new modes only comprise about half of the multiplayer experience. The other half is Battlefield 4. That's kind of an issue with this game. If it weren't for the campaign it's not hard to see that this very well could have just been a Battlefield 4 expansion on the multiplayer side. They just kind of stretched it out to make another full game. A questionable and controversial move. Whether or not you'll like the new parts of the Battlefield multiplayer experience just depends on if you've ever wanted your Battlefield matches to be more close quarters with constant movement that results in more immediate action. There's a noticeable difference between Hardline's new modes and the one's from Battlefield 4.

Overall Hardline does some new things, particularly with it's single-player content. We get a solid campaign and some fun new multiplayer modes. However, given that half of the multiplayer modes are just repackaged from Battlefield 4 is kind of a big issue. While not enough to kill this new spin-off, it is enough to make you wonder if it's really worth picking up just for a few new modes when you already purchased Battlefield 4. While I can't say if it will be worth it to you, I can say it's a solid and enjoyable game on it's own rights. Perhaps not a true new step for the multiplayer, but it's fun nonetheless and the new modes do a good job of changing up the standard Battlefield action. The fun campaign is also a nice treat.

    I give the game a 7.5/10.

Just dont, I know youre thinking maybe you can get some fun out of this but you really cant. Theres not much to unlock and what you can unlock will be about 1-2 guns per class.

You basically just get rewarded with cash for doing stuff, which would be fine but there isn't a lot to buy with the money so after a very short amount of time you will end up just sitting on hundreds of thousands of dollars with nothing to buy which is irritating and seems poorly thought out by the developers. The second problem is kind of the cause of the leveling system being bad and that is the lack of gun variety. Each class has three guns to choose from, which very very limiting in a regular multiplayer game but going from BF4's huge and interesting gun library to having three guns to choose from almost breaks the experience. Having close to(I don't have time to actually count so I'm making an educated geuss) 40 guns to choose from in any given class was a core pillar of what made BF4 special. Though despite this, the game remains good because of the battlefield franchises signature gunplay and a bunch of fun game modes. Expand

To start with, the single player campaign is ridiculous. The story makes no sense and the writing is on par with cop shows that last half a season. Terrible writing. The action is a bit better and compels the game onward, although it's just a reskinned BF4. It's a military shooter with a cop theme, it doesnt really work all the time. Flashing your badge after you've been kicked off the force? Doesn't really make sense...

The multiplayer however makes this a decent ride. New modes like hotwire and hostage rescue absolutely kick ass. It's addictive fun. I can't help but feel that this is a much more scaled down version of battlefields past, though. Each class has between 3-5 weapons to choose from compared to dozens from games past. The action has been much sped up and things move at a COD style pace. Deaths come quick in this one.

Overall, I come to BF for a more methodical, slowed down shooter. Not the frantic mayhem of COD. I feel let down by this entry and hope that they return to form on their next entry.

The biggest disappointment of this cops and robbers game is that it has very little cops and robbers. You never knock down doors and toss flash bangs. You never ambush crooks. You can forget about questioning anyone. There is very little actual police work in this game. Instead, you take out enemies stealthily like Metal Gear Solid or gun them down like any other Battlefield game. At one point, the game goes completely off the rails and you drive around a tank taking out helicopter gunships.

Some effort was put into this game. You have gorgeous character models that probably put competing games to shame in early 2015. Back then, most games released for Xbox 360 and PS3 looked very much last gen on the current gen consoles. Not this one. Cut scenes in Hardline are also well done and show an overconfidence in the actual gameplay. Weapons are straight up Battlefield weapons except cops get Tasers. The maps and areas are nicely done, with a few set pieces that are worthy of a Call of Duty. Ugh, imagine Call of Duty: Cops. That's really what this game is, complete with moments where the player character is knocked unconscious by explosions.

I cannot stress enough how much this game is a missed opportunity. Or maybe cops really do crouch walk around gang hideouts methodically taking out enemies with stealth attacks and disabling alarms. Perhaps my whole notion of police work is a lie.

In regards to multi-player, I can report that it exists and people are still playing it. I matched into a game within a minute and spawned into the gun turret of an armored vehicle for a few cheap kills. Then I spawned in the middle of a firefight and was killed by an unseen enemy wielding an assault rifle. Welcome to the Battlefield soldier. I honestly cannot understand why anyone would play Hardline when they could play Battlefield 4. Both were sold for $5 during the same PSN sale (which is how I picked up Hardline) and yet only one is a real Battlefield game.

One final note. The menu music is Godawful terrible and you have to hear it while matchmaking. Why EA, why?!?

Unlike Battlefield 4, Hardline focuses more on the smaller set pieces rather than giant skyscrapers collapsing, and these set pieces are really cool to watch happen. I wish there were many, many more weapons, but the weapons they give you are very good and easy to pick up and use. My one big gripe is that in both single and multiplayer, driving is extremely sluggish and needs to be improved. It feels like you're trying to drive a block of ice. I also don't like how other than the few new game modes, which are still very good, Hardline doesn't really sell the whole "Cops and Robbers" concept. With some updates and some expansions, this game can become much more than what it is now, but for what we got, at a full $60, is something that you may want to wait on unless you just can't wait to play, because this is still quite a good game, it's just not a very big one.

By altering the series' focus from 'soldiers at war' to 'cops and robbers' lends a fresh perspective on modern conflict. Another reason why I enjoyed Battlefield Hardline is because it liberally borrows stealth gameplay elements from the Far Cry games - a franchise which I admittedly admire. However, in hindsight Battlefield Hardline didn't fully meet my expectations, in particular it's story.

From the outset (and the fact that Visceral were developing the game) I expected Hardline's narrative to be mature and sophisticated. Most importantly, I wanted the story to be 'different'. Unfortunately, Hardline's story is yet another typical run-of-the-mill cop story that features a predictable betrayal element to justify fighting on both sides of the law. Even despite the premises' lack of originality, I still think it could've been handled better. The only saving grace is that there is one side character who feels fresh and provides most of the humour through how witty he is (you know who I'm talking about).

Another point of criticism is the game's reliance (or more accurately, over-reliance) on stealth. Now, I know I said I liked how Hardline liberally borrowed the stealth gameplay elements from the Far Cry games and I really dig that, but when I finished the game and recalled how much of the game's missions and scenarios focused on sneaking around and taking enemies down silently, I was genuinely surprised when I realised how much of the game's total length I had spent doing just that. Approximately 85% of Battlefield Hardline's campaign gameplay revolves around stealth. The real problem with Hardline's over-reliance on stealth is the simple fact that the stealth gameplay never really changes or ever truly evolve beyond the stealth gameplay formula established by the Far Cry franchise. This leads to A LOT of repetition and subsequent fatigue and boredom. Especially given the fact that I basically played the game for 8 hours straight.

Battlefield Hardline isn't great, but at the same time it isn't awful. While I liked how it borrows from Ubisoft's FPS juggernaut, Hardline's cop premise hangs by a thread to the point where it feels like window dressing until laughably even that gets ditched in the final mission where the game literally goes full Far Cry 3. And when something fully becomes the thing that it's imitating and abandons it's identity, nothing more needs to be said.

Very bad modes, and even worse maps that weren't even designed for these modes. This multiplayer is just a dumbed down with a diamond sledgehammer version of BF4. Oh yeah, and there is barely even any levolution. The fact that DICE claims to have developed the multiplayer makes me sick to my stomach, because DICE was extremely lazy or just dropped the ball completely with this. However, the sound design in this game is still exemplary, showing every FPS developer how to create authentic sound design. I'm not great at shooters, but when I get killed, i would like to see what I did wrong. In this game, there is no such thing. You get killed, but half the time, u don't know why. The killcam in this game is one of the worst i've experienced in years. I don't care what a player does after he killed me, I want to know how he killed me. The multiplayer maps are nothing special, they are not bad, but not great either. In some cases, half of the map is never used, as players stick to the same area, making some parts of the maps useless. Luckily there are vehicles to quickly skip the empty parts and the spawing in a teammates location helps. I seem to have a hard time spotting other players from a distance. In my opinion there are not a lot of game modes and some of these game modes, just look the same. The graphics are good, but I would have expected a bit more from this title. Ive played some terrible generic shooters. Like BF 4, this one wasnt worth finishing. Borrowed this from my library, id never pay for this garbage. Kept it for two days cant wait to return it.

The story is fine, it has some great elements and it's not bad, with several different weapons, and upgrades that you can buy. The multiplayer wasn't anything to write home about, and there is a crucial bug in one of the story mission which makes you restart the level, which kinda ruins the experience.

Im going to agree with pretty much everyone who rated this game a 5 or below. Its sad honestly. So much promise from Dice yet poorly delivered. Multiplayer, no lets not even give it that. The place you go to watch camera glitches and people spazzing out all over the maps while giving you enough time to run to the store and back between respawns. There much better. Dont buy it, rent it ifIm going to agree with pretty much everyone who rated this game a 5 or below. Its sad honestly. So much promise from Dice yet poorly delivered. The best things about the campaign are the character models and the house designs. All the characters are designed perfectly to the role they play in the game, and the houses you enter are dream houses. Pools with amazing views of the city, nightclubs, tennis courts and more are all part of living the dream as a crook. Seriously, one house had a fireplace basically in every room (obviously not a tree hugger). This part of the development really impressed me, as did the voice acting, even if the lines were cheesier than a Pizza Hut stuffed crust.

It’s unfortunate that my excitement for Hardline was crushed.
I was really expecting something, well… good. Visceral’s take on Cops and Robbers is brilliant in multiplayer (check out our MP review here), but this is a review on the campaign, and the campaign stinks. But who buys Battlefield for the campaign you fanboys ask? Me, because I really wanted a decent Cops and Robbers themed game. Instead I was let down, just like when Peter Griffin took the mystery box. He’s right, it could have been anything, but Visceral failed to create much of anything.

Sadly a game that , at its core, a gimmick, which sadly doesn't work. Weapons that change with whichever side you are on, poor weapons, utterly twink snipers who can still snap shot kill at any range and still the bunny hoppers still persist in dodging bullets. When will game designers get rid of all this **** that makes games so utterly crap.

A fan of the battlefield games except for 4

I am giving this game a 5 as it is better than Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare but not as great as it should be. You do have quite a bit of lag and some guns will kill with a shot this life and take 5 shots to kill in the next life. All in all this game is "OK".

I wanted to like this game, logged well over 40 hours. Found it boring and lacking. Wasnt a fan of the graphics and the cops and robbers theme was cheesy in my opinion. It felt recycled.

Boring and bland in every way. A few fun moments in the multiplayer and great visuals don't make up for everything else

The story mode is boring, there are too many cutscenes and everything is pre-sripted. But who cares, the online mode is what it's all about right?

Well the maps are too small, you respawn often next to an enemy to be killed again before you can do anything, there is no clarity in where you are supposed to go. Everyone is just running around like chickens without heads, and ofcourse

Well the maps are too small, you respawn often next to an enemy to be killed again before you can do anything, there is no clarity in where you are supposed to go. Everyone is just running around like chickens without heads, and ofcourse there's the spawnkilling snipers who cowardly hide at strategic positions.

Newbies haven't got a chance against high rank players coz they have weapons that suck and die much faster. The maps are very confusing, most of the times you can't see who is friendly or enemy, and you don't even know who killed you and where they are.

The idea of cops and robbers is very interesting but I didn't really feel like a cop in this game, it's just a COD style FPS without any brains and no own personality.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nice new twist to the Battlefield games. Wish i would have seen more police missions as after a while it starts to look like GTA5 or similar. Also from mission 8 it looks like the developers ran out of solid plans and writing as it turns into a boring stale games without any realism. Suddenly you can drive a tank? Wish i would have seen some prison time missions as well. 3 years of the life cut out. Overall good story but 8,9 let it down. 10 also bit over the top, he knows you are coming but clearly his crew is not aware you are on the island? Bit dumb Expand
