Here is the issue with people, They will give it negative scores without even trying it. How does a game deserve a 1? How? There has been a lot of effort done by the developers. And by the way, I'l get hate. I'm fine with that. But this was needed to be said. I have played the game, Not the BETA, The actual GAME. And most people would judge this game off of 3 matches they played and less than an hour of single-player. If you disagree with my review, Then leave a "I didn't find this helpful" comment. Sadly, after playing for hours it has become very clear, this is just a DLC of BF4. I've got that sick to my stomach feeling, that realization that I've just wasted my hard earned money. I'm more disappointed in myself then with the developers. Fool me twice, shame on me.

EA killed the BF franchise. Now it's clear. The solo is better than in the previous game but it's still a boring scripted joke.

And the worst part is the crappy netcode. Let's be clear about that no hit-

For the price they're asking for it, you'd be insane to purchase it. Critics giving this game decent marks have surely been paid off... there is no other explanation. Been playing for 15+ hours and I am completely bored. It really kicked as for the first 10 hours though, but holy **** the mp maps have no depth and are simply ugly and have no heart behind them. Battlefield: Hardline fails to bring anything "new" to the table like Battlefield 4 or Bad Company did. That being said, Visceral Games did a great job with the online modes. Also, the story mode or "episodes" play like a modern crime T.V. show (ex. Justified, CSI) and even have the "next time on Hardline" and "previously on Hardline" dialogues.
I'll start with multiplayer because, let's face it, that's why most of us are buying it. You won't be flying jets or driving tanks in this entry... But you'll be able to race to the scene in a variety of police or criminal vehicles like: vans, patrol cars, and even heavily armored trucks with .50cals on top (or even have your team-mates shoot out the windows of your vehicle. Conquest (large or small) returns in Hardline but many new modes make the online feel fresh like:
-Hotwire where the criminals are trying to steal a bunch of cars while the police try and re-possess them.
-Heist is exactly what it sounds like, each team is trying to infiltrate and steal the cash for their team.
-Rescue is where police must infiltrate and save a hostage from the criminals but, there are no respawns, the action is intense in this mode.
-Blood Money A huge pile of loot has been intercepted in transit. The criminals are battling for the money to steal and bank it, while the police are there to secure it for evidence. You can also raid the enemy teams base and steal money.
-Crosshair a former criminal turned state’s witness is on the run from his former crew. The criminals are trying to erase the VIP’s face from the world, while the cops are trying to get him out safely.

I feel like BF does enough here to make it fresh and exciting. I like that you get money now when you get kills, assists and for completing objectives to spend on whatever you like. The multiplayer works on launch which obviously, did not happen with Battlefield 4. Team-work is also a great idea in some of these modes especially rescue!

Single player: I feel like single player is one of the best BF has produced since Bad Company. The characters are all very well written and, like I said before, plays like a T.V. series making you wonder what will happen next. I also like how you can play however you like, stealth or guns blazing. Although, guns blazing isn't the best idea because you die much faster in this iteration. Something I didn't like is unlocks don't cater to both ways of playing the game (stealth or guns blazing), you are rewarded more for being silent and making arrests. It's also very cool how you can seek out evidence into cases and complete them, unlocking new weaponry and XP leading to leveling up and eventually get battlepacks.
Overall though, the game isn't worth buying just for the SP. I still very much enjoyed it though.
If you're a fan of Battlefield, pick this up. It's a great game to sink hours into and have a good time in single-player as well. It still feels like a lot like BF4 though and that's a bit of a drawback for me (having played 350 hours in BF4). I know I'll get dislikes for giving this a positive review but, it's just my opinion.

    Pros:
    + Fresh new multiplayer modes
    + Enjoyable single player
    + Stable servers

    Cons:
    - Graphics have not changed
    - Feels lots like BF4
    - Flashing your badge freezes enemies in their tracks for laughable arrests

    Overall: 7.5/10

The multiplayer is not your typical battlefield game, this is both good and bad. I have always like the huge scale of the battlefield maps along with all the different military vehicles you could use. it really felt like a battlefield and you could approach them how you wanted, either by running head in to where the fighting was or stealthily approach from a distance. in conquest you could move from point to point with skirmishes against the other team along the way.

In this games all the maps are so small compared to previous battlefield games that you really don't have time to breath. For instance in death match there are sooooo many people in such a small map that half the time you are literally spawning right next to players of the opposing team and getting shot from 12 directions at once, death matches really are not fun at all in this game. Conquest maps are better but still far too small in my opinion. Secondly the vehicles are no where near as good in this version as previous battlefields. They really made this version a lot more like call of duty but failed in doing so in a lot of ways.

There are some fun new MP modes though. I enjoyed both Heists and blood money modes, although again I feel the maps could be a bit bigger and at least in blood money, more than one pile of cash to go for in order to spread players out just a bit more.

Overall the campaign is a short fun experience layed out like a cop drama but still work to do to get a truely gripping drama.
As for multiplayer its hard to go from battlefield 4's large open maps with tanks and jets to suv's and bank vaults. The new game modes are nothing to get too ecited about, a quick look at the server list reveals the most popular modes to be the returning modes conquest and team deathmatch! The way you buy weapons with cash earned in game is interesting but their are hardly any guns to buy. Experimenting with other classes is also fustrating due to the fact that the operator (assault/medic) is pretty much the best and most important guy with the combination of health packs and assault rifles. Overall the multiplayer is nothing special and i honsetly cant see it having any legs in the long run, my reccomendation is battlefield 4s multiplayer with the dlc.
In conclusion Its an intersting prospect but lack of attention to detail on what cops and robbers actually would act like lets this game down. However its still battlefield and newcomers and veterans could appreciate the change in asthetic and theme.

There are positives though. I fully expect Hotwire to be a staple game mode in the series from now on because its a ton of fun, the heists are great too . Lastly the campaign is usually considered an afterthought in BF games but FWIW Hardlines is one of the better ones in the series.

For the most part Visceral does a great job, they breath new life into the single player campaign by giving you the choice of stealth or guns a blazin'. Also Special targets to arrest in missions and the freedom to export the environment with grappling hooks and zip-lines witch can completely change your approach to battle. The ability to take it slow and arrest every target as you sneak around is very fun but on the later levels I found I still enjoyed the heavy weapons and their customization. But as enjoyable/Corny as the story was it's not why most people play Battlefield, It's for the multiplayer.
Multiplayer is even more fast paced compared to BF4, Slightly smaller maps and guns suited for more city combat make it a bit quicker to die but puts you closer to the action. In the new game modes "Hotwire" and "Blood Money" I find the most excitement with Hotwire's car chases and vehicle mayhem and Blood Money's constant back and forth struggle trying to steal the other teams money.
If you liked BF4/3 for it's vehicle based combat you maybe disappointed with Hardline. The "Cops Vs Robbers" Setup makes it hard to justify tanks and jets for battle. But in the classic "Conquest Large" and other game modes you can still find helicopters and armored trucks to cause destruction.
All in all if your a fan of the combat in the Battlefield series and BF4 is getting a bit old for you, Hardline maybe a good alternative. Grated it's not perfect but still enjoyable.

Most instances, you have to sneak around the same way you did in Hitman except you can spray and pray at any moment. You will die quickly if you don't use cover. But take down all the bad guys with a shotgun and tazer the guy you need to arrest. Not bad. Also, you look around the rooms for clues to unlock more loadout options.

NOTE: They should've skipped the driving portion, it doesn't feel like it belongs in the game. I'm happy Battlefieldi didn't go with another skin of its previous games.

This isn't a bad game. BUT. there just isn't enough to justify the 60$ price. The campaign is just painfully average. There are fewer game modes, and guns, which is the biggest problem with this game, there isn't enough. Overall, if this game was a dlc for under $25 I would say pick it up, but since its not, don't buy it, but when the price drops to under 30 to 25 dollars, I'd say pick it up.

    - MP modes like conquest large and team deathmatch are finally over after a longer playtime!
    - No more spawn kill, except on team deathmatch
    - Modes like Crosshair and Rescue (comparable to Search and Destroy)
    - When driving vehicles in MP you can turn on your radio! With some great music. Example; Whoop whoop sound of tha police + the enemy can hear your music!
    - Claymores/snipers are improved!
    - On MP the class Enforcer got a shield now! Good in blocking incoming fire!
    - I really like the fact this game is more based on shooting skills instead of people driving with tanks/choppers all days!
    - Its possible to destroy vehicles/choppers etc. with guns! Need alot of bullets though! Depending if you buy and equip some special bullets on your guns. Which deals more damage to vehicles!
    - Grapline hook & Zip line are fun and handy!
    - Some vehicles got a weapon in the trunk! RPG's!!!! handy against tanks or other vehicles!
    - Cop/Criminal feeling
    - Hacker mode->Commander mode
    - Respawn Vehicles
    - After you used a taser on your enemy its possible to interrogate with that person (revealing enemies on your map)

    Cons:

    - Graphics
    - SP is easy
    - MP Modes like Rescue and Crosshair need more people in it (I would say 8vs8 or 10vs10). Max is 10 (5vs5) which makes it to easy with a proper squad/team. Takes 10min or less should be at least 20/30min each game.
    - Not much of a choice in guns on MP! I really hate this! Example: Sniper secondary pistols are all automatic guns! I love the single shot pistols:( all classes have around 6 weapons:S
    - No more squad death match:( I hope they bring this back!
    - Class Enforcer has crap guns!
    - MP mode Heist is to easy
    - MP team deathmatch is basically spawn kill. (maps are to small or 64 people is just to much)

As you can see most of the cons can be improved by a single update! What will happen in the future as they did that on the previous versions!
This is your battlefield if you like a more shooting based game(guns vs guns)!

Anyone who says that Visceral did not put effort in this game is a whiny little Fanboy/Troll that would rather complain than learn what it takes to make a game like this...which is a lot more then one would think. Also, there are the people who say that this is essentially a DLC of BF4....I must say that they are ignorant yet entitled to their opinion. You play BF4 for the Vehicular Warfare and Hardline is for the more CQ and urban warfare. That's it! You are meant to play both. BF4 is great but I have grown immensely bored with it. This game is just fine and the Net-code works great for me. If not for you then tweak you internet and router settings.....again, I have not had any issues with Net-code on this game. The feel of Hardline is faster, unlike the other BF titles. To be Honest, more players is what this game really needs at the moment. When BF4 came out everyone complained about how BF3 is superior in every way. Now they are doing the same thing again. If you are tired of being overwhelmed by tanks and other vehicles that you cannot damage unless you play as the only two classes you see around in BF4 then, this is for you. Quite simply, this is a game that will get better with age. JUST LIKE BF4. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You know, I think this game is getting a lot of flak because it wasn't mindless shooting like Call of Duty and it actually made an effort to be good. Battlefield: Hardline was the first modern warfare shooter that I have ever played through to the end. The story was a huge improvement on Battlefield 4 since it actually made sense to me. The shift to cop drama from war shooter was a huge risk, but I think it paid off. The story of Nick Mendoza was compelling and kept me engaged until the end. Difficulty didn't change much other than enemy bullet damage and resistance, but there was a new stealth element to the game. It does the Far Cry thing where you can throw something across the room to distract the guards to tactically take them out, but taking the barge in the front door and shoot everything on two legs wasn't that much harder, so I wasn't that compelled to take the stealthier route. The only reason that I didn't give this game a ten because there were a couple of plot holes one of which was that when you are disbanded from the police, why can you still arrest people? In an even bigger question, why can you arrest private police officers? Those points were not clear to me, but overall, the game was very well made and I look forward to buying more Battlefield games if they are going to be made like this. Expand

Simply put, the multiplayer mechanics were developed by Dice, just like BF4, so its mechanics are similar. However, instead of tanks and warplanes, you are given patrol cars and heavily armoured trucks with mini-guns mounted on top!

    Campaign:
In the campaign, you are Nicholas Mendosa, a good police. Later, a lot happens which makes Mendosa's personality change, which can make for an unexpected ending which some may dislike, as it does not explain what happens to this protagonist. Unlike BF4, the campaign does not prompt you to fight, but rather lets you sneak past the opponents without them seeing you. However, you are able to see them on a mini-map. Funnily enough, you are actually given points for arresting them by sneaking up to them, and are NOT given for shooting them with your gun.

    Conclusion:
The Battlefield series was always considered a modern Warfare FPS. With Hardline, the series takes a turn from that, and rather than being an FPS, gives shooting less importance. The player is encouraged to arrest, take down or simply sneak past an opponent instead. The multiplayer mechanics are similar to those of BF4, but vehicles and some weapons are changed. Overall, this is quite a dramatic change from old Battlefield games, but one which is good enough to keep the relevance of the series.

Okay, give it a low score when it comes to being relevant to the game title, but putting the title aside, I liked the gameplay. It offline campaign is a little short too.

I gave the same score but I like Hardline a bit better then BF4, because is more simplistic in multiplayer.
Anyway it is a same boring game. I rather play Titanfall

This games works decent on the PS4. It has plenty of game modes to choose from and you can generally find lots of people playing the game. The game is extremely different to any other battlefield game and it is a nice change to the battlefield series.

However with the atrocious weapon balance and the poor net code sometimes multiplayer can be extremely frustrating. I've experienced plenty of kill trades which are amplified by the fact that the guns hits you very hard. TDM is a mess with the poor spawn system and it's extremely luck based, depending on whether you see your opponent first or vice versa.
To conclude, you might want to get this game on sale if you have some spare cash but you should still stay in battlefield 4 if you have it. Remember this is visceral's first game in the battlefield franchise and give them another chance.

despite the fact that cops and robbers having RPG's is just way over the top the game itself is a lot of fun and has great graphics. Its also way fun to play in a blow everything up kind of way. The only downside I have with this game is the ratio of map size to team size in team deathmatch. its hard to play with strategy when there are 64 players on a tiny map.

Superficially it might look like a reskin, but Battlefield Hardline is no cop out. [May 2015, p71]

There's genuine long-term fun to be had in multiplayer modes, but it's not consistent. [June 2015, p.66]

Its new modes offer a lot, but certain elements feel marginalised. [May 2015, p.89]
