Well....first off let me start by I am a big COD fan although I became quickly board with AW. This installment of Battlefield is great if you ask me, lets be real its only so many storylines worth folks time to put out here on the market for FPS game. And all the other good story lines are currently held with an title associated to them, Hardline is the most complete of the series if I must say. The feel of the game is authentic physics are better than previous titles and maps are more relatable due presenting a time current environment. To me its a waste of time to talk graphics, if any aspect of having these next gen consoles would be to expect great visuals unless you have a X1. I purchased Hardline instead of new Mortal Combat and this is after I purchased the DLC for CODAW that was just released. Basically if your looking to send $60 on a game just be sure it will keep you entertained, as for the other FPS titles currently out Hardline out performs them and I would consider the COD series top of the tier of FPS and Hardline blows it out the water easily on all levels I highly recommend this purchase. Oh I know your like he didn't talk about online play, that's because unless your from the stone age or still using a 2 way pager to text you would know battlefield has one oh the best Multiplayer platforms period and leads in the FPS not opinion just fact. Do what I do review games here see screenshots and video and then I go over to Twitch and watch live gameplay from gamers just like me hope to see you on the Battlefield hit me up on PS4 ! Expand

If you like to wait along time before you spawn, an inability to swap teams to play with your friend, spawning in locations surrounded by enemies, waiting along time between respawning and very dull game modes. Then this is the game for you. Compared to BF4 (which also has a few issues but much improved since launch) this game is it's retarded cousin. The cops and robbers theme doesn't really work in my opinion and this game would be best left as a military theme. It's a shame as Battlefield titles seem to have got progressively worse over the last few years. BF3 had great gameplay. BF4 a little less. Hardline...well it should be shot and left in the desert like Atari's E.T.
If this game is ridiculously cheap or free, sure...try it but I'm sure you'll just end up playing BF4 again after 10mins of this crap.

Bought this game, played an hour and sold it on - IT'S JUST A BF4 DLC/RE-SKIN

Well done EA, once again you manage to prove yourselves as soulless money grabbing shysters that churn out old sh*t in a new box for the same price.

I hope you are voted worst company again, because this and battlefront are just a joke.

Again, eat sh*t EA, you greedy scum.

Battlefield Hardline not worth to wait. This game is just looking like BF4 in other setting. And as BF4, Hardline has boring campaign and solid multiplayer cutted to more pieces of future DLCs. DLC, DLC,DLC...

Vehicle wise, there are a couple of choppers and basically the jeep with the machine gun from Battlefield 4.. no tanks, jets, etc. All the maps are pretty tiny, and everything is really closed off so almost all combat is close quarters hectic spray and pray.. But don't worry, if you die, just respawn in 3 seconds right back in the "action" to shoot some helpless player in the back. Expand

-Bad scoring (your +xp% applies to your score during the game, aka top spot will always be someone with a +200% bonus, these points were applied after the match in BF4, which, you know, makes sense.)
-Poor attempts at making the game last longer by making you purchase every item twice (once for each team).

The only thing I enjoyed about this game was the single player. Oh and another -1 rating because there was only roughly 5 hours of single player.

Overall I regret buying this game and wish i bought it physically so I could return it.

I loved ghost recon, splinter cell, even uncharted. The reason I mention these titles is because hardline is trying very hard to be like these games. While call of duty - AW was a major let down, keeping to tradition it's still ahead of hardline.

One more thing, while the developers are constantly saying they build this game with our feedback to develop this game, they actually cannot take a bit of polite criticism at launch (I really wonder how they took user feedback in spirit). When I pointed out some bugs on day 01 on a forum, they deleted my comments. If they have a good game, why are they afraid to acknowledge basic gameplay issues that their customer is facing. Very poor show.

What a waste of time, money, and gaming entertainment. I am off battlefield franchise permanently.

Great game, very polished. The new game modes are fun, addictive and chaotic but retain the teamwork ever present in battlefield. Dont miss out on this because of battlefield 4s launch, it has less bugs than bf4 even when bf4s had over a year to fix them.

In addition, they tried to put Cops and Robbers into Battlefield, which could've been okay, but it's too mixed of a setting. The campaign can sometimes be SO confusing. Especially when they're putting in the Battlefield setting. The multiplayer is also lacking... quality. The re-spawn takes SO LONG, you clearly die too quickly, it's actually a little confusing, and customization isn't that good. I got Advanced Warfare earlier, which was MUCH better. Overall, not worth $70, for sure, but maybe $40. Quite the disappointment, especially since my receipt flew away on a windy day. :( Expand

U never buy a game and give it a 0. Dont be like cod fanboys who want same sh*t every year. And yes,45% of the ppl who gave it a 0 are cod fanboys. OK u like tanks & jets, but atleast try playing it. AND if u dont want to play it, then dont come around here destroying hardlines image. And its because of u haters, the best of the games also get reduced to 6-6.5 on user score. So here's my opinion on the game:
    PROS
    1. Multiplayer is faster and is more simple.
    2. Maps are less but are wide ranged from short to long.
    3. Hotwire and heist are the best bf modes ever.
    4. Stealth mechanic in single layer is a bit comical and weird, but it allows players to have a different approach to every level.
    5. Progression system in cash is a good way to get good guns early.
    6. Guns feel stable and their recoil is well adjusted

    CONS
    1. Story is same from all crime dramas.
    2. Hotwire's money system is unbalanced as players can get cash easily by just sitting in a car.
    3. No. of guns are less.
    4. Xp boost system is complicated.

To the critics as well, u gave bf hardline 6 or 7 because u disliked its campaign, so bf4 deserves 5-6.5 score on the basis of the campaign, bcoz bfh campaign in MUCH MUCH MUCH better than bf4's then how does it get 8 or 9's? Multiplayer of the two is a debatable topic, but for me, hardline is faster and better. Yes, the cops and robbers theme sux, but it serves to lay a foundation for new modes and exept rescue, all modes are good.
P.S.: Critics and haters should see gamespot's lobby discussion on this game where the guy said that bf hardline's multiplayer is "more fun than bf4 ". Then i again ask gamespot, why bfh a 7 and bf4 a 8?

I brought it home at midnight on release, downloaded the surprisingly small (128 mb) update, and played some single player while I waited for the rest of the game to install. In BF3 and BF4, i just stopped playing the campaigns after about an hour. This one is the best written one since the Bad Company games. The set pieces also work well, and the stealth gameplay is solid.

But as for the multiplayer? Its much faster paced and will win over the more mature COD players. Don't expect to die at the hand of an autistic five year old (little **** in COD). But if one side controls a certain point in the large 64 player conquest mode, the other bases will turn over much more quickly for that team. Not like COD Advanced Warfare. Which was retarded. That multiplayer was unplayable in domination. But you'll strategize to defend one point more instead of going on the offense if that key point is being attacked.

The upgrade system for soldiers is much more simple. Gone are the days of unlocking a scope for a rifle you will never ever use or even unlock itself. You purchase each weapon and then unlock sight, accessory, and muzzle attachment categories after 30, 60, and 90 kills respectively. Love a gun? Hit 90 kills and you can easily buy anything for it. Be prepared to have a cop set up and a robber set up though.

Also, most reviewers miss this. You can set different load outs up based on the type of multiplayer you're playing. Those modes are varied enough this aspect makes a huge difference.

And yes. No tanks. Heavy trucks with machine guns on them though. Still take a few hits with grenades and rockets, but they're best used in conjunction with infantry as an added boost instead of the main assault.

In essence nothing that would clue you into the fact that this is a battlefield game. If you did not know the title of the game you would assume it was a poor CoD imitation with vehicles thrown in.

Leveling system feels very unrewarding and bugs are already appearing.

The campaign while intriguing is far too short to make up for the glaring oversights of the Multi-player.

In the end Hardline is nothing but a glorified DLC for Battlefield 4 but doesn't have any of the things that make Battlefield 4 great. A blatant money grab by EA hoping that uninformed gamers will buy it on name alone rather than do their research first.

With much better games like Bloodborne on the way and much better value for the same price like The Handsome Collection I would strongly recommend that everyone hold off and if you must have it I would wait until you can buy it used or on sale.

It kills the atmosphere and just doesn't look like a modern game.

Gameplay wise this is just OK. Not incredible or innovative. It feels more like CS or CoD than Battlefield, big time. That Battlefield feel is barely there. I understand this is a spin-off, but it doesn't have that epic all-out war feel. It just feels like very quick skirmishes between police and robbers. There is a ton of camping, too.... a ton. People just wait by a road with an RPG in Hotwire and they get instakills way too easily. Netcode problems are still rampant: I had 4 trades in my first hour of play and I died behind cover twice, as well. Vehicle physics improved by about 3%--yeah, hardly anything, really. Vehicle movement and physics are still unrealistic and poor.

Campaign isn't too bad. The story is very cliche, but it's occasionally funny. Visuals still suffer in campaign.

Hardline brings some new things to the table (modes, etc), but overall it lacks a Battlefield-feel and a comprehensive sense of quality and care. I'm not sure this is Visceral's cup of tea.

When you think of "Battlefield," most people think of large scale maps with infantry and vehicular combat over Frostbite destructible maps. Well, take what you know about previous Battlefields and throw this out the window.

    Campaign -
I have not completed that much of campaign, but enough to get a feel for it. I do like how it is made into a TV News Broadcast/Series. When you leave the campaign, you are departed with a "COMING UP ON HARDLINE" snippet. When you join the campaign back, its "PREVIOUSLY ON HARDLINE," just to get you caught up.

What rubs me the wrong way about the campaign is, the gun selection is pretty bland. You get a few pistols and a few rifles. The pistols are your primary weapon. If two cops are conducting a drug bust, first off do you think it would only be two cops they send in? How about arming them with pistols as primary weapons.

Second, you have the opportunity to go "covert" with the missions. You can throw shell casings or rocks to distract your enemy and get them to look the other way, to great them with a POLICE. DROP YOUR WEAPONS. They drop the weapons and you can handcuff them. This has a downside to it though.

When subjects are complying, your gun freezes and you are not allowed shooting them. So.. with that being said, you come up behind three people and display your badge to them. One complies, the other two are about to shoot you - you can't shoot them because one subject is surrendering. Mediocre at best. The campaign is predictable, but its what you make of it in my opinion.

    Now, the best part. MULTIPLAYER.

For a general multiplayer overview, you have to purchase all your weapons with in game cash that you get from getting kills, revives, objectives, all the fun stuff. With the cash, you can buy equipment, camos, guns, and battlepacks. Each "class" has 4 different load out options that you can create. The bummer, each class has maybe 5 guns max that you can use. The robbers and the cops have different classes of guns, in which you have to purchase on both sides. The game has been glitchy since I have gotten it and when I start multiplayer, all my guns are locked, INCLUDING the one that you start out with. I've had to join a game multiple times with just a baseball bat. The guns then unlock after you get the first kill.

Lets break down the games accordingly.

Team Deathmatch - Now runs on 64? 66? 60-something players... RIDICULOUS. The map sizes are smaller than prior battlefield team deathmatch maps so there is constantly enemies spawning next to you and behind you. Its rare that you survive more than 20 seconds.
It takes a full clip to kill somebody and half the shots don't register.

Hardcore mode is no longer hard core. The bullet damage is not increased, only health regeneration is remove, friendly fire is on, and the HUD is removed (including the list of people that are in your squad.) It still takes a clip to kill an enemy.

Heist - This game mode is typical cops and robbers. The robbers break into a safe and steal money and have to escort 2 brief cases to an extraction zone while cops attempt to prevent this. This game mode was in the beta and ran almost flawlessly. Not in the real game. On half the maps, the briefcases are in the same building, if not, the same room. Team mates are always spawning on each other and the whole map becomes a cluster. Its not long before your team gives up trying to play the objective and just run around and try to get kills.

That games that do get going and you're kind of having a decent time (which is a rare occasion), you're greeted with a black screen followed by a message "you have lost connection to the server."
Blame it on my internet would be the typical response I'd expect, only it happens to everybody I play with. Read the facebook comments on their page if you don't believe me.

The maps look like garbage and remind me of something Call of Duty would make.

A night map with street lights and your team is on the hill makes your character cast a shadow on to the street. You don't see the hill you are standing on, just a floating shadow back and forth.

The same night map has a burning fire in the distance. The fire does not move, but the smoke has a ripple effect to make it seem like flames.

In the maps where a dust storm hits or a hurricane, the trees and bushes don't "blow," they trees bend and the leaves on the bushes and trees flap back and worth, like you're playing with a picture in paint.

In the campaign, there's a laptop that you are "skyping" a main character in, the laptop is missing the number 6. Laziness? Or just ignorance.

Overall, I do not recommend this game to anyone. Ever since E3 and during the Betas, I promoted the heck out of this and now I feel like I've been lied to. I bought the premium when I bought the game and I wish I could take it back. This is not Battlefield.

The multiplayer game is what holds the game to the Battlefield line, and continuing the trend from BC2 BF3 and BF4: Hardline is successfully the worst. For no reason at all, the same experience unlocking progression and class system are back. The secondary weapons are now locked by class rather than available throughout all classes.
The worse thing yet is the new weapon progression. Money is given like points, which is then used to purchase weapons and upgrades after they have been unlocked by experience. Although the money is pooled, the unlocks are completely separate. The progression per side is separate as well, creating an imbalance of power as one side gets access to specific weapons before the other. Knowing that on the 'police' side a player can get their favorite SMG, but the 'criminals' side has the best assault rifle, then being forced to choose between the two because the player doesn't have the money for both, just seems ludicrous.
It seems like EA didn't learn anything from the maps its players didn't enjoy on BF4. Returning elevators, more predictable spawning, and even smaller choke-points make the fast and camping players even more annoying than ever. Vehicles are also more annoying, as the helicopters have taken a step backward in stability, while some anti-vehicle weapons must now be found on map (which can then be camped).
Overall, this is another in a line of downhill replications that force longer grinding out of less content, all put in with a pretty picture. This game may end up being the last Battlefield title I ever buy.

I can't say why anybody who knew the direction of the game at the time of purchase would say this is a bad game, point blank. I understand it is not a traditional Battlefield game in that the environment is not entirely destructible (more focus on the small set pieces) and the focus on vehicle combat has been greatly reduced. The game also moves at a much faster pace, with more punishing bullet damage and a stronger emphasis on quick, calculated combat. This is Visceral's love letter to CS and Payday, and they write it beautifully. All mechanics feel smooth and load times are FAST by comparison to other Battlefield entries (from end game to new spawn maybe 30 seconds). I personally had no server issues at all in my 5 hour play test span, which is a damn miracle in itself. The gun variety is there but not overwhelming, and you need money to purchase everything (or hope you get lucky when opening a Battle Pack), so making that next purchase has a weight to it similar to that found in Payday. All modes actually feel different rather than the typical Battlefield MO of using the same mechanic is a slightly larger (or smaller) setting. The 32-32 Team Deathmatch was a blast, as well as the signature Heist mode and the Counter Strike clone mode "Rescue". Vehicles are a little too cut and dry, and it almost feels like they are used almost exclusively for travel purposes. The driving mechanics are solid and very reminiscent of traditional Battlefield controls and responsiveness. Gun-play is solid, not much in terms of evolution on the new engine, which is probably my biggest gripe. The game is incredibly detailed and the level design is gorgeous, but there is a TON of empty space in many levels. With the focus moving to more of a fast paced, CQC style play and vehicles being put on the back-burner, it seems strange to force these mechanics to be useful with the addition of vast, empty landscapes. However, it detracts very little from the overall experience, and having Ted Nugent belting out the lyrics to Stranglehold while I siege a mansion from the front seat of a cop car is a priceless memory I will cherish for some time. 9/10, Visceral proves they can run with a good concept, and re-imagines the world of Battlefield with great success. Battlefield Hardline proves that replacing the franchise landmarks (large maps, wide array of vehicles and weapons) for a narrow, twitch-gameplay, cops and robbers experience is as dumb as it sounds. Luckily the wait for Star Wars Battlefront shouldn't be long now and this miscarriage of the EA-Money Machine can hopefully soon be forgotten.

Dice really needs to get some new artists as this game was a far cry from what they've delivered in the past. I'm extremely disappointed in the effort on Battlefield Hardline

There's genuine long-term fun to be had in multiplayer modes, but it's not consistent. [June 2015, p.66]
