I played this on a friend ps4, the ps4 graphics are atrocious, I don't know if its the dev or the ps4 is weak (im a pc player) but there's no excuse for how bad this game looks, even by ps4 standards,

playing this crap with a controller is even worse , some people good at it unless they must be aimbots or something with a peice of crap controller in my right hand , taking turd's in

I'm a big fan of battlefield and mainly play it for it's great multiplayer experience. However, not Hardline. Everything from the level design to the vehicle physics is poor at best. If you like to wait along time before you spawn, an inability to swap teams to play with your friend, spawning in locations surrounded by enemies, waiting along time between respawning and very dull game modes. Then this is the game for you. Compared to BF4 (which also has a few issues but much improved since launch) this game is it's retarded cousin. The cops and robbers theme doesn't really work in my opinion and this game would be best left as a military theme. It's a shame as Battlefield titles seem to have got progressively worse over the last few years. BF3 had great gameplay. BF4 a little less. Hardline...well it should be shot and left in the desert like Atari's E.T.
If this game is ridiculously cheap or free, sure...try it but I'm sure you'll just end up playing BF4 again after 10mins of this crap.

Battlefield Hardline is exactly what you have come to not expect from a next-gen Battlefield title.

    1) The on-rails solo campaign is not bad, but feels like nothing Battlefield. The solo experience stretches realism with a fanciful cops versus robbers story that is outlandish and out of place in the a realistic shooter series. 2) Online multiplayer is a complete disaster: a) Weapons

    2) Online multiplayer is a complete disaster:
    a) Weapons and gear are purchased with fake cash that is earned through combat, and feel unrewarding and grindish
    b) The few unlockable weapons given for completing professional challenges are completely overpowered and extremely difficult to obtain unless you have a clan, guild, or a group of friends to assist
    c) Spawn points are close together, and enemies often spawn behind you, meaning that combat is not on frenzied, but often broken, position is impossible with the broken spawn system and poor maps
    d) Because of the poor map design and spawn points, experienced players can easily camp a spawn, which results in a dying the moment you appear in the game, this can go on up to 3 to 4 times before the server switches you to a new location
    c) The game modes are devoid of any good vehicles, and are chock full of made-up garbage cars that look like something out of the Simpson's road rage game, and are completely unenjoyable
    d) Gone is aerial combat, gone is tank combat, gone is vehicle combat of nearly any kind
    e) Because of the lack of mechanized combat, you essentially have a striped down Call of Duty game, with none of the variability of game play - if you get board shooting people you can instead try out one of the racing game modes and drive around in circles on a map

There is really nothing good I can say about this game. It is unredeemable. The concept itself is poor, the execution uninventive. It truly feels like a cops and robbers game mode for BF4 without any of the depth or addictiveness that we have come to expect of the series. Fans of the series look elsewhere, or at least wait until this game is heavily marked down before you purchase.

This installment of Battlefield is great if you ask me, lets be real its only so many storylines worth folks time to put out here on the market for FPS game. And all the other good story lines are currently held with an title associated to them, Hardline is the most complete of the series if I must say. The feel of the game is authentic physics are better than previous titles and maps are more relatable due presenting a time current environment. To me its a waste of time to talk graphics, if any aspect of having these next gen consoles would be to expect great visuals unless you have a X1. I purchased Hardline instead of new Mortal Combat and this is after I purchased the DLC for CODAW that was just released. Basically if your looking to send $60 on a game just be sure it will keep you entertained, as for the other FPS titles currently out Hardline out performs them and I would consider the COD series top of the tier of FPS and Hardline blows it out the water easily on all levels I highly recommend this purchase. Oh I know your like he didn't talk about online play, that's because unless your from the stone age or still using a 2 way pager to text you would know battlefield has one oh the best Multiplayer platforms period and leads in the FPS not opinion just fact. Do what I do review games here see screenshots and video and then I go over to Twitch and watch live gameplay from gamers just like me hope to see you on the Battlefield hit me up on PS4 ! Expand

despite the fact that cops and robbers having RPG's is just way over the top the game itself is a lot of fun and has great graphics. Its also way fun to play in a blow everything up kind of way. The only downside I have with this game is the ratio of map size to team size in team deathmatch. its hard to play with strategy when there are 64 players on a tiny map.

i'm going to put this simply. If you have Battlefield 4, you don't need this game. If you have never played a battlefield game, then this is for you. I think this is a game meant to attract all the worn out COD fanboys and try to bring them onto Battlefields side, and that's just fine for me. I have always been a COD guy. But this year I decided to give Battlefield a chance to win my heart. So I went out and bought BF Hardline. The single player campaign was kinda enjoyable. But I buy 1st person shooters for the online multiplayer features. Sad to say, but BF Hardline multiplayer is way behind COD. I don't think I'll buy another BF game soon.

This is the worst "Battlefield" game in the franchise. What about it says Battlefield? Absolutely NOTHING. This is unlike any other Battlefield in the sense that you are in close quarters, spawn trapped constantly, infinitesimally small selection of weapons, cops and robbers, etc. This game should not be purchased by any Battlefield veteran who has been a fan of the series within the last decade.

The multiplayer is wayyyyyy worse than Bf 4. Modes like hotwire and rescue are just jokes to be honest. The game recycled old Bf 4 ideas like the skins and not having vehicles like tanks in a game called BATTLEFIELD is really questionable. My honest opinion is do not buy......like really, save your money. Me as a big fan of the old battlefronts is scared because Dice somehow managed to make a game this inadequate. Finishing the campaign and playing 50 hours of multiplayer was a big waste of my life, and i'm not bad at mp either. It really became less likely after each other especially. To improve I suggest adding a modern day crime scenario like intense mysterious murder mysteries would have made a more cop like game.

now I'm not looking for a COD copy but when it takes 6 seconds to re spawn and when you re spawn right next to your enemies it becomes more of a stress to play than anything else (taken from my experience from team death match.) the set-up can become very confusing first time around. Magnum bullets. Cost 100,000 points yet offer no visible improvement at all.
Snipers - unless it's a head shot your rarely if ever get a one shot one kill Re spawning is so amateurish that it's pathetic, you get spawned right in front of or behind the enemy. Re spawn points are well known and are usually booby trapped or they are

Just play heist mode and drive a car around... and around...and around till you get 60k+ dollars in a match and then buy the best gun for said class.

Then go to Team Death match thats stuck at a 64 player server only cap on really tiny... tiny maps where you will be shot in the back of the head upon spawning! so if you are lucky to spawn and kill someone in front of you before you die, your doing good! you do this over and over to get weapon unlocks. After your weapons and mods are done.. game is boring as shi*t.

Literally a dumb down version of battlefield 4. I can see them adding more stuff since they did charge us a $60.00 price tag, but nope.. literally like 6 maps total and they took away like 80 percent of the gadgets and about 50 percent of the vehicles.

I highly recommend people just sticking to BF4 unless you just have to play cops or robbers.

AND if u dont want to play it, then dont come around here destroying hardlines image. And its because of u haters, the best of the games also get reduced to 6-6.5 on user score. So here's my opinion on the game:
    PROS
    1. Multiplayer is faster and is more simple.
    2. Maps are less but are wide ranged from short to long.
    3. Hotwire and heist are the best bf modes ever.
    4. Stealth mechanic in single layer is a bit comical and weird, but it allows players to have a different approach to every level.
    5. Progression system in cash is a good way to get good guns early.
    6. Guns feel stable and their recoil is well adjusted

    CONS
    1. Story is same from all crime dramas.
    2. Hotwire's money system is unbalanced as players can get cash easily by just sitting in a car.
    3. No. of guns are less.
    4. Xp boost system is complicated.

To the critics as well, u gave bf hardline 6 or 7 because u disliked its campaign, so bf4 deserves 5-6.5 score on the basis of the campaign, bcoz bfh campaign in MUCH MUCH MUCH better than bf4's then how does it get 8 or 9's? Multiplayer of the two is a debatable topic, but for me, hardline is faster and better. Yes, the cops and robbers theme sux, but it serves to lay a foundation for new modes and exept rescue, all modes are good.
P.S.: Critics and haters should see gamespot's lobby discussion on this game where the guy said that bf hardline's multiplayer is "more fun than bf4 ". Then i again ask gamespot, why bfh a 7 and bf4 a 8?

Multi Player is a fast paced, classic battlefield experience, minus the absence of tanks, which is acceptable considering this is not a true war-zone, and it is realistic that tanks were not added, i applaud this. The gun selection is minimal, This does not deter me personally, but it would be nice to see some DLC Packs include more guns in the near future, The classes are classic battlefield classes with a new name and feel, the customization is on an un-lock and buy with earned money basis, and i like this. it encourages you to do good and play a lot. I love the new cops and robbers inspired game modes, they are very addicting and are a new spin to the battlefield franchise. i have personally logged 40+ Hours into multiplayer and i still have a lot to do. the map selection at this time is minimal, and i would like to see more maps in the future, but the design is far superior to that of call of duty. I Hope to see this game grow and evolve over time, it definitely does not deserve the negativity that it has been getting, and i think a sequel would be the proper thing to do for DICE and Visceral.

Summary: This is a very playable and fun game, the story mode is exciting but could be a little longer, the multiplayer is classic battlefield multiplayer minus the tanks, and it has a cool new cops and robbers feel with the addition of new cops and robber inspired game modes.

I'm not great at shooters, but when I get killed, i would like to see what I did wrong. In this game, there is no such thing. You get killed, but half the time, u don't know why. The killcam in this game is one of the worst i've experienced in years. I don't care what a player does after he killed me, I want to know how he killed me. The multiplayer maps are nothing special, they are not bad, but not great either. In some cases, half of the map is never used, as players stick to the same area, making some parts of the maps useless. Luckily there are vehicles to quickly skip the empty parts and the spawing in a teammates location helps. I seem to have a hard time spotting other players from a distance. In my opinion there are not a lot of game modes and some of these game modes, just look the same. The graphics are good, but I would have expected a bit more from this title. I've seen a lot better on the PS4. I would suggest that people buy the game when the price goes down a bit, because the game feels overpriced for the content it gives atm. - MP modes like conquest large and team deathmatch are finally over after a longer playtime!
    - No more spawn kill, except on team deathmatch
    - Modes like Crosshair and Rescue (comparable to Search and Destroy)
    - When driving vehicles in MP you can turn on your radio! With some great music. Example; Whoop whoop sound of tha police + the enemy can hear your music!
    - Claymores/snipers are improved!
    - On MP the class Enforcer got a shield now! Good in blocking incoming fire!
    - I really like the fact this game is more based on shooting skills instead of people driving with tanks/choppers all days!
    - Its possible to destroy vehicles/choppers etc. with guns! Need alot of bullets though! Depending if you buy and equip some special bullets on your guns. Which deals more damage to vehicles!
    - Grapline hook & Zip line are fun and handy!
    - Some vehicles got a weapon in the trunk! RPG's!!!! handy against tanks or other vehicles!
    - Cop/Criminal feeling
    - Hacker mode->Commander mode
    - Respawn Vehicles
    - After you used a taser on your enemy its possible to interrogate with that person (revealing enemies on your map)

    Cons:

    - Graphics
    - SP is easy
    - MP Modes like Rescue and Crosshair need more people in it (I would say 8vs8 or 10vs10). Max is 10 (5vs5) which makes it to easy with a proper squad/team. Takes 10min or less should be at least 20/30min each game.
    - Not much of a choice in guns on MP! I really hate this! Example: Sniper secondary pistols are all automatic guns! I love the single shot pistols:( all classes have around 6 weapons:S
    - No more squad death match:( I hope they bring this back!
    - Class Enforcer has crap guns!
    - MP mode Heist is to easy
    - MP team deathmatch is basically spawn kill. (maps are to small or 64 people is just to much)

As you can see most of the cons can be improved by a single update! What will happen in the future as they did that on the previous versions!
This is your battlefield if you like a more shooting based game(guns vs guns)!

The multiplayer is not your typical battlefield game, this is both good and bad. I have always like the huge scale of the battlefield maps along with all the different military vehicles you could use. it really felt like a battlefield and you could approach them how you wanted, either by running head in to where the fighting was or stealthily approach from a distance. in conquest you could move from point to point with skirmishes against the other team along the way.

In this games all the maps are so small compared to previous battlefield games that you really don't have time to breath. For instance in death match there are sooooo many people in such a small map that half the time you are literally spawning right next to players of the opposing team and getting shot from 12 directions at once, death matches really are not fun at all in this game. Conquest maps are better but still far too small in my opinion. Secondly the vehicles are no where near as good in this version as previous battlefields. They really made this version a lot more like call of duty but failed in doing so in a lot of ways.

There are some fun new MP modes though. I enjoyed both Heists and blood money modes, although again I feel the maps could be a bit bigger and at least in blood money, more than one pile of cash to go for in order to spread players out just a bit more.

Take a seat and let me explain why Battlefield: Hardline is a terrible terrible game. As a disclaimer I have played about 20+ hours of this game.

Take a seat and let me explain why Battlefield: Hardline is a terrible terrible game. As a disclaimer I have played about 20+ hours of this game.

    Cons;

    1. The graphics are (somehow) worse than Battlefield 4. A reskin/DLC game of a better game with worse graphics...wut.
    2. The storyline became stale and predictable after about 2 episodes. It's genuinely just a bunch of cop dramas melded together into some badly packaged and barely cohesive storyline.
    3. The car physics are just completely woeful, I mean c'mon DICE, you made Need For Speed. Seriously...I can take down a lamp post, yet a bush nearly destroys a car?
    4. The multiplayer now feels dangerously close to an arcade shooter instead of a tactical shooter (aka CoD). I started playing BF more because I got bored of the arcade feel of CoD, well done DICE.
    4. The multiplayer maps now feel small and cramped in my opinion.
    5. There is 0 immersion in the maps or storyline whatsoever (unlike BF3 & 4). The whole game feels empty and soulless, like they were going through the motions making it.
    6. The spawns points are sometimes ridiculously terrible. Spawning into defend a point, lolnope just straight in front of a camping enemy.
    7. The weapon mechanics are horrid. Barely any bullet drop anymore and I'm pretty sure they've included magnetic bullets now, just saying.
    8. Numerous times I'm being shot and killed behind cover or walls. This happens far too often and I don't understand why, I mean if they included it in the game that bullets travel through walls, then I wouldn't mind so much. That'd actually be pretty cool!
    9. The fact you can't change weapons between classes is complete balls...I always liked levelling all the classes but now I have focussed on just 1. Also, the fact that there's no fast firing automatic weapons really grinds my gears. I was used to using weapons with at least an 800 fire rate in BF4.
    10. The "destructible terrain" is a load of tripe. They added in some cheap "levelution" features and gave up after that. Literally how hard can it be to make everything destructible...Red Faction 2 done it and that was over a decade ago, sort it out. I don't want to throw a grenade at a chair and see it still there after, it really isn't much to ask for.
    11. The fact you have to buy weapons with money now is just beyond stupid, I get the linkage between stealing money and all that but seriously...it's just a woeful idea. I'd rather spend the money I earn on battlepacks or something that would benefit me as I play.
    12. Limited vehicles. I get that there isn't exactly going to be attack choppers, stealth bombers or tanks rolling down the street for a burglary but still, maybe even a riot van that fires rubber bullets or uses water canons or something? Pretty sure SWAT teams have APC's that they use in riots.

    Pros;

    1. The cops & robbers theme is cool for all of about half an hour.
    2. um...the patches are cool looking?
    3. The new game modes are quite nice to play for a few hours.
    4. The grappling hook and zipline are cool (although I think I've used them all of about 2 or 3 times in total).
    5. I like that they brought back the screen to customise your player before joining a game, that really annoyed me in BF4 that you couldn't do it.

In conclusion, this should have not been sold for £45 and instead either been sold as a DLC or for A LOT cheaper. If you disagree with me or think I'm a hater, then fair enough. I

To start with, the single player campaign is ridiculous. The story makes no sense and the writing is on par with cop shows that last half a season. Terrible writing. The action is a bit better and compels the game onward, although it's just a reskinned BF4. It's a military shooter with a cop theme, it doesnt really work all the time. Flashing your badge after you've been kicked off the force? Doesn't really make sense...

The multiplayer however makes this a decent ride. New modes like hotwire and hostage rescue absolutely kick ass. It's addictive fun. I can't help but feel that this is a much more scaled down version of battlefields past, though. Each class has between 3-5 weapons to choose from compared to dozens from games past. The action has been much sped up and things move at a COD style pace. Deaths come quick in this one.

Overall, I come to BF for a more methodical, slowed down shooter. Not the frantic mayhem of COD. I feel let down by this entry and hope that they return to form on their next entry.

The multiplayer game is what holds the game to the Battlefield line, and continuing the trend from BC2 BF3 and BF4: Hardline is successfully the worst. For no reason at all, the same experience unlocking progression and class system are back. The secondary weapons are now locked by class rather than available throughout all classes.
The worse thing yet is the new weapon progression. Money is given like points, which is then used to purchase weapons and upgrades after they have been unlocked by experience. Although the money is pooled, the unlocks are completely separate. The progression per side is separate as well, creating an imbalance of power as one side gets access to specific weapons before the other. Knowing that on the 'police' side a player can get their favorite SMG, but the 'criminals' side has the best assault rifle, then being forced to choose between the two because the player doesn't have the money for both, just seems ludicrous.
It seems like EA didn't learn anything from the maps its players didn't enjoy on BF4. Returning elevators, more predictable spawning, and even smaller choke-points make the fast and camping players even more annoying than ever. Vehicles are also more annoying, as the helicopters have taken a step backward in stability, while some anti-vehicle weapons must now be found on map (which can then be camped).
Overall, this is another in a line of downhill replications that force longer grinding out of less content, all put in with a pretty picture. This game may end up being the last Battlefield title I ever buy.

Unlike Battlefield 4, Hardline focuses more on the smaller set pieces rather than giant skyscrapers collapsing, and these set pieces are really cool to watch happen. I wish there were many, many more weapons, but the weapons they give you are very good and easy to pick up and use. My one big gripe is that in both single and multiplayer, driving is extremely sluggish and needs to be improved. It feels like you're trying to drive a block of ice. I also don't like how other than the few new game modes, which are still very good, Hardline doesn't really sell the whole "Cops and Robbers" concept. With some updates and some expansions, this game can become much more than what it is now, but for what we got, at a full $60, is something that you may want to wait on unless you just can't wait to play, because this is still quite a good game, it's just not a very big one. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here is my take on the newest game in the Battlefield series. Overall I really enjoyed this game, even with some of the drawbacks others have listed.
    First the good:
In the single player campaign you have an excellent story line with interesting characters and game play. I felt sympathy for the main character and enjoyed some of the ( somewhat predictable ) but excellent plot twists. I really enjoyed the "cop" feel to the game, rather then the typical military shooter. Previous BF and COD games pretty much have the same objective for every level : Shot the guys, move forward... maybe even occasionally pushing a button. This game relies heavily on a new stealth system with the ability to "arrest" enemies. Also in several levels there are high priority targets which if you arrest then you get to upgrade weaponry much faster.
    Multiplayer:
I HIGHLY enjoy the new game play options with hostage rescue ( rescue) and VIP escort ( crossfire ). If you like more fast pace shooting then try stealing drugs/cash from a vault ( heist. ) With new gadgets you can really explore the map and have many more exit/entry points to buildings. The game switches you between Cops and Thieves to switch up your play style. Also if you have a working mic you can strongly get a feel for team-play and coordinate breaches into buildings, holes in enemy lines to get past and host other options. While other shooting games have this Hardline really raises the bar for useful team interaction.
    However, now the Bad:
    Single player:
The leveling up system feels like it wasn't crafted to match the new game play. For the most part your stealth options stay the same from beginning to end while your access to the best ( loud guns ) gets better and better. To get better scores you play stealth, and your reward is better guns, that don't aid in stealth in the least. The gadgets you have access to in the game ( the tazer, evidence scanner, etc... ) could have a huge list of options for upgrades that were never realized. While the story line isn't your typical shoot I really felt that BF could have done more to play up the differences. Perhaps hostage rescue , bank heist that you plan, etc... Also at one point in the story you switch from a cop to a criminal, but keep the same character ( three year time jump. ) The game play however doesn't change with your options still being shoot the or arrest. This occasionaly made me wonder why he bothered arresting people, its not like he was leaving them for the cops. This did to much to bring me out of the story line. It would have played much better if you switched characters midway and maybe a different set of awards ( ie you get more points for killing the police chief, evading arrest being spotted... )
    MULTIPLAYER:
The best selling point for BF games for me is the interaction with environments. Being able to drop buildings and bust through walls was one of the highlights. Hard line really feels like it was a step down in this aspect from BF4. Also they keep helicopters in the game but took out the majority of ways to bring them down.

Overall I think this is a solid game. The possibilities for replay are high ( really want to go back and find some of the evidence in single player I missed, and now that I have the big guns I want to play with them rather then focusing on stealth. ) Multi player has enough game types to match most play styles and keep you from getting bored. I really hope they explore this game in the future and would love to see what they can do it. For now I think this is an excellent addition to the series and would recommend buying it.

Also Special targets to arrest in missions and the freedom to export the environment with grappling hooks and zip-lines witch can completely change your approach to battle. The ability to take it slow and arrest every target as you sneak around is very fun but on the later levels I found I still enjoyed the heavy weapons and their customization. But as enjoyable/Corny as the story was it's not why most people play Battlefield, It's for the multiplayer.
Multiplayer is even more fast paced compared to BF4, Slightly smaller maps and guns suited for more city combat make it a bit quicker to die but puts you closer to the action. In the new game modes "Hotwire" and "Blood Money" I find the most excitement with Hotwire's car chases and vehicle mayhem and Blood Money's constant back and forth struggle trying to steal the other teams money.
If you liked BF4/3 for it's vehicle based combat you maybe disappointed with Hardline. The "Cops Vs Robbers" Setup makes it hard to justify tanks and jets for battle. But in the classic "Conquest Large" and other game modes you can still find helicopters and armored trucks to cause destruction.
All in all if your a fan of the combat in the Battlefield series and BF4 is getting a bit old for you, Hardline maybe a good alternative. Grated it's not perfect but still enjoyable.

When you think of "Battlefield," most people think of large scale maps with infantry and vehicular combat over Frostbite destructible maps. Well, take what you know about previous Battlefields and throw this out the window.

    Campaign -
I have not completed that much of campaign, but enough to get a feel for it. I do like how it is made into a TV News Broadcast/Series. When you leave the campaign, you are departed with a "COMING UP ON HARDLINE" snippet. When you join the campaign back, its "PREVIOUSLY ON HARDLINE," just to get you caught up.

What rubs me the wrong way about the campaign is, the gun selection is pretty bland. You get a few pistols and a few rifles. The pistols are your primary weapon. If two cops are conducting a drug bust, first off do you think it would only be two cops they send in? How about arming them with pistols as primary weapons.

Second, you have the opportunity to go "covert" with the missions. You can throw shell casings or rocks to distract your enemy and get them to look the other way, to great them with a POLICE. DROP YOUR WEAPONS. They drop the weapons and you can handcuff them. This has a downside to it though.

When subjects are complying, your gun freezes and you are not allowed shooting them. So.. with that being said, you come up behind three people and display your badge to them. One complies, the other two are about to shoot you - you can't shoot them because one subject is surrendering. Mediocre at best. The campaign is predictable, but its what you make of it in my opinion.

    Now, the best part. MULTIPLAYER.

For a general multiplayer overview, you have to purchase all your weapons with in game cash that you get from getting kills, revives, objectives, all the fun stuff. With the cash, you can buy equipment, camos, guns, and battlepacks. Each "class" has 4 different load out options that you can create. The bummer, each class has maybe 5 guns max that you can use. The robbers and the cops have different classes of guns, in which you have to purchase on both sides. The game has been glitchy since I have gotten it and when I start multiplayer, all my guns are locked, INCLUDING the one that you start out with. I've had to join a game multiple times with just a baseball bat. The guns then unlock after you get the first kill.

Lets break down the games accordingly.

Team Deathmatch - Now runs on 64? 66? 60-something players... RIDICULOUS. The map sizes are smaller than prior battlefield team deathmatch maps so there is constantly enemies spawning next to you and behind you. Its rare that you survive more than 20 seconds.
It takes a full clip to kill somebody and half the shots don't register.

Hardcore mode is no longer hard core. The bullet damage is not increased, only health regeneration is remove, friendly fire is on, and the HUD is removed (including the list of people that are in your squad.) It still takes a clip to kill an enemy.

Heist - This game mode is typical cops and robbers. The robbers break into a safe and steal money and have to escort 2 brief cases to an extraction zone while cops attempt to prevent this. This game mode was in the beta and ran almost flawlessly. Not in the real game. On half the maps, the briefcases are in the same building, if not, the same room. Team mates are always spawning on each other and the whole map becomes a cluster. Its not long before your team gives up trying to play the objective and just run around and try to get kills.

That games that do get going and you're kind of having a decent time (which is a rare occasion), you're greeted with a black screen followed by a message "you have lost connection to the server."
Blame it on my internet would be the typical response I'd expect, only it happens to everybody I play with. Read the facebook comments on their page if you don't believe me.

The maps look like garbage and remind me of something Call of Duty would make.

A night map with street lights and your team is on the hill makes your character cast a shadow on to the street. You don't see the hill you are standing on, just a floating shadow back and forth.

The same night map has a burning fire in the distance. The fire does not move, but the smoke has a ripple effect to make it seem like flames.

In the maps where a dust storm hits or a hurricane, the trees and bushes don't "blow," they trees bend and the leaves on the bushes and trees flap back and worth, like you're playing with a picture in paint.

In the campaign, there's a laptop that you are "skyping" a main character in, the laptop is missing the number 6. Laziness? Or just ignorance.

Overall, I do not recommend this game to anyone. Ever since E3 and during the Betas, I promoted the heck out of this and now I feel like I've been lied to. I bought the premium when I bought the game and I wish I could take it back. This is not Battlefield.

The single player i have to say is very very good, a welcome change to what is usually something that's just stuck on last minute nowadays in a multiplayer centric genre but single player is nowhere near long enough to save this game and make it a recommendable purchase,

The characters are kinda mehhhhhhhh, but they're voice acted brilliantly. What I love about the single player is that, for the most part, it's a stealth game. It almost feels like all enemy encounters start like Far Cry outpost missions. It has nonsensical, over-the-top action sequences that, for a cop game, don't make much sense, but I don't think they hurt the game for being there. In many of the levels, you can progress through it your way, finding different routes to sneak through and collect evidence for your "investigations." They're just basically a collectables achievement. Campaign is fine. Miles ahead of BF3 and BF4, but not fantastic.
Multiplayer is good, for the most part. It's extremely stables (I've had only one crash and a handful of disconnects, and that was mainly on the first day it came out). It runs smoothly at a good, stable frame rate, looks quite pretty, and sounds amazing. From a technical standpoint, it's one of the best battlefields. The new theme game modes, Heist and Bloodmoney, are great on most maps. Hotwire is ridiculous. It makes the progression system silly and pointless. It's a ton of fun and can be extremely tactical when people aren't exploiting the design flaws, but that's only 20% of the time. Most of the time, enemies and teammates alike grab the objective vehicles and drive around in circles in the back of the map. Is it a good way to get money? Hell yeah. Is it a good way to have fun. Absolutely not. They're going to have to fix the scoring system in Hotwire. TDM is a joke because there is literally no spawn system. It doesn't spawn each team on opposite sides, it doesn't let you spawn on teammates, it just spawns you randomly around the map, and most of the time you'll spawn directly into an enemy's field of view. Not some of the time. MOST of the time.
Weapon balance is atrocious. There might as well be only 3 guns in the game, (M416, M16, and K10). Nobody uses anything else because you're stupid not to.
Most of the problems with the game should be easily fixable. So if you're on the fence, wait a month or two until they patch the game into a better balanced state. If you love Battlefield, though, you should enjoy this one.

Great game, very polished. The new game modes are fun, addictive and chaotic but retain the teamwork ever present in battlefield. Dont miss out on this because of battlefield 4s launch, it has less bugs than bf4 even when bf4s had over a year to fix them.

Overall the campaign is a short fun experience layed out like a cop drama but still work to do to get a truely gripping drama.
As for multiplayer its hard to go from battlefield 4's large open maps with tanks and jets to suv's and bank vaults. The new game modes are nothing to get too ecited about, a quick look at the server list reveals the most popular modes to be the returning modes conquest and team deathmatch! The way you buy weapons with cash earned in game is interesting but their are hardly any guns to buy. Experimenting with other classes is also fustrating due to the fact that the operator (assault/medic) is pretty much the best and most important guy with the combination of health packs and assault rifles. Overall the multiplayer is nothing special and i honsetly cant see it having any legs in the long run, my reccomendation is battlefield 4s multiplayer with the dlc.
In conclusion Its an intersting prospect but lack of attention to detail on what cops and robbers actually would act like lets this game down. However its still battlefield and newcomers and veterans could appreciate the change in asthetic and theme.

This isn't a bad game. BUT. there just isn't enough to justify the 60$ price. The campaign is just painfully average. There are fewer game modes, and guns, which is the biggest problem with this game, there isn't enough. Overall, if this game was a dlc for under $25 I would say pick it up, but since its not, don't buy it, but when the price drops to under 30 to 25 dollars, I'd say pick it up.

This is a game that will inevitably let down anyone that isn't a Battlefield hard fan.

The story is really sketchy. It. doesn't propose anything interesting for the players to immerse into. The characters are unreliable. The game montage looks oddly like CSI (I can not say how much of a bad thing this is). The music is alright, although it seems like hip-hop is automatic with criminals.

Online is awful. I was looking forward to the police/criminal duality and I shouldn't have. The gameplay is unbalanced, weapons are locked until you play heck of a lot and are SO BROKEN. A sniper will kill in 4-5 shots and a handgun will instakill you... It's frustrating and unpleasant. Not recommended.

But take down all the bad guys with a shotgun and tazer the guy you need to arrest. Not bad. Also, you look around the rooms for clues to unlock more loadout options.

But I'm not sure if this was just growing pains for Dice trying to get a decent campaigh into the game but its the best effort to date in terms of single player, its worth a once over no need to go back,

however the MP has been cut in half and i don't just mean in map size, i mean in every sense of the world

    less maps
    less weapons
    less vehicles
    less point

the game launched almost perfectly with no server issues no game crashes no issues there but my god how can they charge you what they are charging especial in the UK and Europe for HALF THE GAME of battlefield 4, we need to wake up and stop paying for this because we are telling them it's OK to do this every time we spend that kinda money on chopped up games like this they are getting the message its ok to do it,

if the game didn't function properly i would have given it a 4 but it does and that is its only saving grace on a mechanical level its the smoothest launch since bf2 but there is nothing here to keep you going nothing to work towards, reward rates on hot wire are so high you can just drive around a map unlock most the stuff you need and happy days you win, nothing to see here move along until the next dlc pack is out which is still only going to consist of 4 maps and if your lucky you might get weapons

Head shots from 1000 yards with a sub machine gun and iron sights?? No problem at all! Not only are head shots routinely carried out by every assortment of weapon as you are in a car or pretty much anywhere else, but you will also find that you are constantly shot down by someone whom you put half a clip in just to see them with 100% health after you die. Now I dont claim to be battlefield elite, but I have played since battlefield 2 and do consider myself a decent player. Trust me when I say if you are buying this game because you enjoy the thrill of a good "even ground" hunt you are completely screwed. Buy this game if you enjoy aiming in the general vicinity of someone and letting the computer take over for you. Just give it a slight bump upwards for automatic head shots every time. Not to mention inconsistent bullet damage. 3 shots from certain rifles into someones head routinely led to them turning around and killing me with 1 or 2 shots to the chest from a pistol. I am actually a police officer so I was excited to hear how good the story was supposed to be...wow letdown number 50. The "pop your badge out and everyone drops their guns" was amusing at first. Having said that, Battlefield Hardline tries to do something different and it mostly succeeds, from it's campy but well polished campaign to the overhauled multiplayer, it's a very different game than 4 was. Some people might think this is a bad thing, personally as someone who's played hundreds of shooters in their lifetime, I appreciate the new direction. It keeps battlefield from getting stale, although if you're looking for the more of the same, you probably won't like it, in fact you might hate it.

I always thought part of the problem with the way games are received by their audience is that player's expectations skew and tarnish the experience, for me I was expecting a reskin of BF4, what I got was a game that maintains the same general tone, of the series, but the mechanics are just different enough to feel fresh and new to me. Most notable is the sound design and the chaos of indoor gunfights, everything from the default pistol to the light machineguns has a rich hearty boom to it that's unsettling when you're in the middle of a gun fight and the environment reacts to bullet impacts in a satisfying way throwing debris in the air while you hear muffled shouts from your assailants. The difference is the focus on the single player game is more one of stealth, and while it's completely optional, it's the fastest way to unlock bonus items, and there's also an evidence gathering scavenger hunt thrown in as well. The battles are like well choreographed scenes from a tv show or movie, and the entire plot is presented like a binge session of a show on netflix. Levels are "episodes" and if you quit to the main menu, scenes from the next episode are played as a teaser. It feels mostly polished and in a few levels the designers get away from the linear scripted campaigns that have become so popular lately. The open levels are reminiscent of the multiplayer maps, which is a really nice touch, since this series is known for its multiplayer, and it flows at a quicker pace than the other games.

When I booted up multiplayer, there are a lot of noticeable changes, the progression system has been overhauled, and the unlocks are done mostly through cash earned through play. The xp bonuses have also been changed to only grant bonuses for specific actions, such as team actions or assists, or vehicle support. It seems complicated and bloated and unnecessary, and both sides of the law have specific unlocks that you can only use when you're on a certain team. My first few games were amazing, the default classes were all set up to be enjoyable right off the bat, except maybe the professional, and the game ran perfectly. The next time I played it was a horrible laggy mess though. My character rubber banded constantly, weapons would delay when firing, or not at all, the whole thing ran like a joke, even the menus lagged. Granted this was the weekend it came out and the servers were most likely clogged, but still, after beta testing I didn't expect it to run worse than 4, and at least in 4 if you had a crap connection you could still pull off a few decent kills if you change your playstyle. In hardline, it's all about close combat though, and time to kill seems significantly quicker than the previous games. The other issue is the spawning system, you have a sort of kill cam showing your attackers next few moves, then a cooldown timer that seems to increase your time out depending on how well you did prior to being killed. At first I liked this idea, however it became aggravating when the game spawned me on top of a grenade, then I watched my killer, then it made me wait on the timer. If I haven't even spent a second playing the game, I shouldn't have to wait another 10 to respawn, on top of watching the kill cam, it seems like a poor design choice to me in that sense. Also the hint system is horrible. Obvious things are pointed out repeatedly and you have to close the hint to proceed, but non obvious things are never explained in the new game modes and you're left wondering how to play a specific objective while the enemy team rushes you and kills you.

When it works though, it's amazing. It reminds me of counterstrike, and the emphasis on secondary weapons reminds me of modern warfare 2, the pacing is fast and the close quarters battles are adrenaline pumping. It's not perfect, and I do have a few gripes about it, but it's playable and enjoyable enough that I'm glad I picked it up.

Bottom line is if you want a different style shooter in single player or a counter strike style experience in multiplayer, pick this up. It fills a weird niche in the shooter market, but I feel like it might not stand up well enough on its own for people who aren't up to date on the series or are looking for the next copy paste game.

I brought it home at midnight on release, downloaded the surprisingly small (128 mb) update, and played some single player while I waited for the rest of the game to install. In BF3 and BF4, i just stopped playing the campaigns after about an hour. This one is the best written one since the Bad Company games. The set pieces also work well, and the stealth gameplay is solid.

But as for the multiplayer? Its much faster paced and will win over the more mature COD players. Don't expect to die at the hand of an autistic five year old (little **** in COD). But if one side controls a certain point in the large 64 player conquest mode, the other bases will turn over much more quickly for that team. Not like COD Advanced Warfare. Which was retarded. That multiplayer was unplayable in domination. But you'll strategize to defend one point more instead of going on the offense if that key point is being attacked.

The upgrade system for soldiers is much more simple. Gone are the days of unlocking a scope for a rifle you will never ever use or even unlock itself. You purchase each weapon and then unlock sight, accessory, and muzzle attachment categories after 30, 60, and 90 kills respectively. Love a gun? Hit 90 kills and you can easily buy anything for it. Be prepared to have a cop set up and a robber set up though.

Also, most reviewers miss this. You can set different load outs up based on the type of multiplayer you're playing. Those modes are varied enough this aspect makes a huge difference.

And yes. No tanks. Heavy trucks with machine guns on them though. Still take a few hits with grenades and rockets, but they're best used in conjunction with infantry as an added boost instead of the main assault.

The selection of game modes available isnt vast but offers enough variety to keep the player entertained for hours, the new heist and hotwire modes are very welcome as they give new life to old ideas.

The gameplay is slick and fast-paced, I havent encountered any glitches or other problems with the gameplay. The only issue I do have is the rather annoying habit enemies have of spawning behind a position you are trying to hold down without having a squad member to spawn on or any reason to spawn there.

Im a big fan of the player and weapon level progression with both assignment completion and individual weapon leveling needed to unlock more advanced weapons and gadgets, this offers the player a reason to expand their play to include a wider range of weapons and classes in order to unlock specific weapons they may want to use.

The single player so far has kept my interests up, offering a typical action motivated cop vs crook story line, the introduction of the cop abilities really makes for more interesting gamplay, offering the player the ability to arrest and taze enemies. This gives the chance to play the game in a stealth style which is a great option to have.

Overall Id say Batllefield Hardline offers and fresh innovative look at a genre that has lost somewhat of its edge as of late, its definitely a more well rounded campaign experience than has been on offer from its rivals in recent years and has multiplayer that will remain exciting for a long time.

First off I'll start this review by saying I'm a battlefield fan . I put in a couple hundred hours on battlefield 4 and loved every minute of it ( when it worked ) . This is battlefield alright . Battlefield for folks with ADD . Yes the single player is better than that of titles past . This however isn't saying much . Video Games are governed by a ratings system . The level of violenceFirst off I'll start this review by saying I'm a battlefield fan . I put in a couple hundred hours on battlefield 4 and loved every minute of it ( when it worked ) . This is battlefield alright . Battlefield for folks with ADD . Yes the single player is better than that of titles past . This however isn't saying much . Video Games are governed by a ratings system . The level of violence pretty much guarantees this game a mature rating . That being said knowing the game will be played by an older audience do they make a hard boiled in your face "cop drama " as was billed ?.

Nope the developers and their crack ( or cracked out team of writers ?) go the network television safe route and manage to make the crappy writing seen on those shows seem like Pulitzer prize winning stuff compared to the consulted asinine crap you'll be exposed to here . Video games have far more lenient standards than tv does . They could have made this truly special . Instead they made a steaming pile of cow dung .

Everybody knows battlefield games are known for their multiplayer . Fear not though as visceral has managed to screw that up as well . Remember how in BF4 , if someone was playing junior bird man all you had to do was get a stinger and shoot them down ?. Someone there made the excellent decision to keep aircraft in the game but give you nothing to neutralize them with . Now that is stellar game design . Remember the tanks in bf4 ?. Remember how you had mines and at launchers to neutralize the threat?. Don't worry because visceral has replaced them with " command vehicles " . To destroy them all you have to do is run up to them and place a breaching charge on them . All while you're getting lit up the whole time trying to approach the damn thing . You could take cover if there was cover present and the levels weren't as barren as the saharra .

Now let's talk hit detection . I have been playing shooters many years. Without aim assist and my accuracy usually is in the 40 percentile range . This is the first game I've ever used a shotgun that should tell you what you need to know .

If you have battlefield 4 that game is running perfectly at the moment I suggest you keep playing that . The greatest thing about battlefield games ? . Destructible environments . Remember people camping structures ?. How would you handle that ?. Usually by anti tank weapons and c4 turning the building to rubble right ?. Well visceral in their infinite wisdom decided to remove those options from you as well . It's okay though cuz look bullets make holes in things !!!! Gee I'm impressed .

This game is complete garbage and it plays like it . Any user giving this game high marks is on their daily 800 milligrams of adderall . This is complete garbage and very much a cash grab dressed up as reviloutionary gameplay changes in the single player .

On a completely separate subject . Let's talk about all bleeding heart professional reviewers saying this game is making a statement about police in this country . That Is crap this game played it safe and made no statement at all . I live in one of the most violent cities in America and am a police officer . If you want to know what it's like or think we are all out to hurt people , I invite you to wear the star . Just for a day you have no idea . For the police haters out there next time you're in trouble call a crackhead .

This is not battlefield and I will not let visceral disparage the name of this great series . This game belongs in a bargain bin or better yet should have never seen the light of day . I'd rather shoot myself in the face with a large caliber handgun than play this tripe ever again .

Quotes from the great intellectual sicfit92's review include: "3)cars running around like idiots!!! this is not a racing game goddamit!! its a shooting game!!!" Obviously dear sicfit hasn't experienced a Battlefield game before. From reading his compelling review, I have reason to believe he is in fact 12 years old and the only prior experience he has had with an FPS is Call of Duty.

On a serious note, COD kiddies should not be reviewing this game. They have no right to compare their garbage to a Battlefield instalment. These kids have barely the slightest idea of what makes a game good and blame the mechanics for their gameplay screw-ups. Reading reviews from these ill-informed idiots is painful. Is it the game's fault you have severe autism? No. Is the game responsible for your low IQ? No. If anything, go blame your parents.

Back to the actual review, if you look at this game as purely a spin-off for the Battlefield franchise and do not compare it to the previous instalments, it is extremely fun. I have played the Beta and the final version of this game and it is great if you don't let unfair comparisons to BF3 and 4 blind you. Hotwire by far is the most fun gamemode. The game may seem overpriced for something that is so similar to previous games, and after a while it can get boring. I admit there are not a lot of guns to purchase either. But besides all those minor quarrels Hardline is a great game. Not exactly what I would've wanted from a Battlefield game, but great nonetheless.

After paying top dollar I have a poor excuse of a battlefield game and I will not even bother to retain. The story is largely predictable and is not engaging enough to warrant interest after a while. I loved ghost recon, splinter cell, even uncharted. The reason I mention these titles is because hardline is trying very hard to be like these games. While call of duty - AW was a major let down, keeping to tradition it's still ahead of hardline.

One more thing, while the developers are constantly saying they build this game with our feedback to develop this game, they actually cannot take a bit of polite criticism at launch (I really wonder how they took user feedback in spirit). When I pointed out some bugs on day 01 on a forum, they deleted my comments. If they have a good game, why are they afraid to acknowledge basic gameplay issues that their customer is facing. Very poor show.

What a waste of time, money, and gaming entertainment. I am off battlefield franchise permanently.

It kills the atmosphere and just doesn't look like a modern game.

Gameplay wise this is just OK. Not incredible or innovative. It feels more like CS or CoD than Battlefield, big time. That Battlefield feel is barely there. I understand this is a spin-off, but it doesn't have that epic all-out war feel. It just feels like very quick skirmishes between police and robbers. There is a ton of camping, too.... a ton. People just wait by a road with an RPG in Hotwire and they get instakills way too easily. Netcode problems are still rampant: I had 4 trades in my first hour of play and I died behind cover twice, as well. Vehicle physics improved by about 3%--yeah, hardly anything, really. Vehicle movement and physics are still unrealistic and poor.

Campaign isn't too bad. The story is very cliche, but it's occasionally funny. Visuals still suffer in campaign.

Hardline brings some new things to the table (modes, etc), but overall it lacks a Battlefield-feel and a comprehensive sense of quality and care. I'm not sure this is Visceral's cup of tea.

Netcode is better, but still not good, dying behind walls is still here and there are some buggs, like passing wehicle and it threw me to 5 meters in air.
