My score so far is an 8.5, A great single player, A fun and enjoyable multiplayer and good graphics. Anyone giving it a 10 isn't right either. The game has flaws but that doesn't mean it's terrible. And by the way, I'l get hate. I'm fine with that. But this was needed to be said. I have played the game, Not the BETA, The actual GAME. And most people would judge this game off of 3 matches they played and less than an hour of single-player. If you disagree with my review, Then leave a "I didn't find this helpful" comment. The multiplayer is not your typical battlefield game, this is both good and bad. I have always like the huge scale of the battlefield maps along with all the different military vehicles you could use. it really felt like a battlefield and you could approach them how you wanted, either by running head in to where the fighting was or stealthily approach from a distance. in conquest you could move from point to point with skirmishes against the other team along the way.

In this games all the maps are so small compared to previous battlefield games that you really don't have time to breath. For instance in death match there are sooooo many people in such a small map that half the time you are literally spawning right next to players of the opposing team and getting shot from 12 directions at once, death matches really are not fun at all in this game. Conquest maps are better but still far too small in my opinion. Secondly the vehicles are no where near as good in this version as previous battlefields. They really made this version a lot more like call of duty but failed in doing so in a lot of ways.

There are some fun new MP modes though. I enjoyed both Heists and blood money modes, although again I feel the maps could be a bit bigger and at least in blood money, more than one pile of cash to go for in order to spread players out just a bit more.

Also Special targets to arrest in missions and the freedom to export the environment with grappling hooks and zip-lines witch can completely change your approach to battle. The ability to take it slow and arrest every target as you sneak around is very fun but on the later levels I found I still enjoyed the heavy weapons and their customization. But as enjoyable/Corny as the story was it's not why most people play Battlefield, It's for the multiplayer.
Multiplayer is even more fast paced compared to BF4, Slightly smaller maps and guns suited for more city combat make it a bit quicker to die but puts you closer to the action. In the new game modes "Hotwire" and "Blood Money" I find the most excitement with Hotwire's car chases and vehicle mayhem and Blood Money's constant back and forth struggle trying to steal the other teams money.
If you liked BF4/3 for it's vehicle based combat you maybe disappointed with Hardline. The "Cops Vs Robbers" Setup makes it hard to justify tanks and jets for battle. But in the classic "Conquest Large" and other game modes you can still find helicopters and armored trucks to cause destruction.
All in all if your a fan of the combat in the Battlefield series and BF4 is getting a bit old for you, Hardline maybe a good alternative. Grated it's not perfect but still enjoyable.

I just can't imagine people vote a negative score for this one. This one is way better than battlefield 4. Despite the fact it still needs some improvement!

    Pros:

    - Network code (bullets go now where you aim+shoot)
    - Good story on SP
    - in SP you can act like a COP "Shouting freeze to criminals"
    - MP modes like conquest large and team deathmatch are finally over after a longer playtime!
    - No more spawn kill, except on team deathmatch
    - Modes like Crosshair and Rescue (comparable to Search and Destroy)
    - When driving vehicles in MP you can turn on your radio! With some great music. Example; Whoop whoop sound of tha police + the enemy can hear your music!
    - Claymores/snipers are improved!
    - On MP the class Enforcer got a shield now! Good in blocking incoming fire!
    - I really like the fact this game is more based on shooting skills instead of people driving with tanks/choppers all days!
    - Its possible to destroy vehicles/choppers etc. with guns! Need alot of bullets though! Depending if you buy and equip some special bullets on your guns. Which deals more damage to vehicles!
    - Grapline hook & Zip line are fun and handy!
    - Some vehicles got a weapon in the trunk! RPG's!!!! handy against tanks or other vehicles!
    - Cop/Criminal feeling
    - Hacker mode->Commander mode
    - Respawn Vehicles
    - After you used a taser on your enemy its possible to interrogate with that person (revealing enemies on your map)

    Cons:

    - Graphics
    - SP is easy
    - MP Modes like Rescue and Crosshair need more people in it (I would say 8vs8 or 10vs10). Max is 10 (5vs5) which makes it to easy with a proper squad/team. Takes 10min or less should be at least 20/30min each game.
    - Not much of a choice in guns on MP! I really hate this! Example: Sniper secondary pistols are all automatic guns! I love the single shot pistols:( all classes have around 6 weapons:S
    - No more squad death match:( I hope they bring this back!
    - Class Enforcer has crap guns!
    - MP mode Heist is to easy
    - MP team deathmatch is basically spawn kill. (maps are to small or 64 people is just to much)

As you can see most of the cons can be improved by a single update! What will happen in the future as they did that on the previous versions!
This is your battlefield if you like a more shooting based game(guns vs guns)!

Anyone who says that Visceral did not put effort in this game is a whiny little Fanboy/Troll that would rather complain than learn what it takes to make a game like this...which is a lot more then one would think. Also, there are the people who say that this is essentially a DLC of BF4....I must say that they are ignorant yet entitled to their opinion. You play BF4 for the Vehicular Warfare and Hardline is for the more CQ and urban warfare. That's it! You are meant to play both. BF4 is great but I have grown immensely bored with it. This game is just fine and the Net-code works great for me. If not for you then tweak you internet and router settings.....again, I have not had any issues with Net-code on this game. The feel of Hardline is faster, unlike the other BF titles. To be Honest, more players is what this game really needs at the moment. When BF4 came out everyone complained about how BF3 is superior in every way. Now they are doing the same thing again. If you are tired of being overwhelmed by tanks and other vehicles that you cannot damage unless you play as the only two classes you see around in BF4 then, this is for you. Quite simply, this is a game that will get better with age. JUST LIKE BF4. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You know, I think this game is getting a lot of flak because it wasn't mindless shooting like Call of Duty and it actually made an effort to be good. Battlefield: Hardline was the first modern warfare shooter that I have ever played through to the end. The story was a huge improvement on Battlefield 4 since it actually made sense to me. The shift to cop drama from war shooter was a huge risk, but I think it paid off. The story of Nick Mendoza was compelling and kept me engaged until the end. Difficulty didn't change much other than enemy bullet damage and resistance, but there was a new stealth element to the game. It does the Far Cry thing where you can throw something across the room to distract the guards to tactically take them out, but taking the barge in the front door and shoot everything on two legs wasn't that much harder, so I wasn't that compelled to take the stealthier route. The only reason that I didn't give this game a ten because there were a couple of plot holes one of which was that when you are disbanded from the police, why can you still arrest people? In an even bigger question, why can you arrest private police officers? Those points were not clear to me, but overall, the game was very well made and I look forward to buying more Battlefield games if they are going to be made like this. Expand

    Multiplayer:
Simply put, the multiplayer mechanics were developed by Dice, just like BF4, so its mechanics are similar. However, instead of tanks and warplanes, you are given patrol cars and heavily armoured trucks with mini-guns mounted on top!

    Campaign:
In the campaign, you are Nicholas Mendosa, a good police. Later, a lot happens which makes Mendosa's personality change, which can make for an unexpected ending which some may dislike, as it does not explain what happens to this protagonist. Unlike BF4, the campaign does not prompt you to fight, but rather lets you sneak past the opponents without them seeing you. However, you are able to see them on a mini-map. Funnily enough, you are actually given points for arresting them by sneaking up to them, and are NOT given for shooting them with your gun.

    Conclusion:
The Battlefield series was always considered a modern Warfare FPS. With Hardline, the series takes a turn from that, and rather than being an FPS, gives shooting less importance. The player is encouraged to arrest, take down or simply sneak past an opponent instead. The multiplayer mechanics are similar to those of BF4, but vehicles and some weapons are changed. Overall, this is quite a dramatic change from old Battlefield games, but one which is good enough to keep the relevance of the series.

despite the fact that cops and robbers having RPG's is just way over the top the game itself is a lot of fun and has great graphics. Its also way fun to play in a blow everything up kind of way. The only downside I have with this game is the ratio of map size to team size in team deathmatch. its hard to play with strategy when there are 64 players on a tiny map.

The only reason why I would give this game a zero is if it was in a state like battlefield 4 at launch. But it is not. It is stable, it works, and most of all is fun. It deserves an 8 because it nails in gameplay, sound, and gun play. The graphics are not on par with battlefield 4 but graphics does not determine how good a game is. In example like the order 1886 or ryse. Ignore the people that gave the game a zero because this is not a broken game. Zeros are given by trolls who probably played one round of the game who have never played battlefield before. The game is hard to learn for new comers, especially for cod players who feel justified to give the game a zero because the mechanics are not copy and paste. Give the game a chance. Let's get single player out of the way first. It's fine. The story is pretty generic. If you've seen one cop drama, you've seen them all. The characters are kinda mehhhhhhhh, but they're voice acted brilliantly. What I love about the single player is that, for the most part, it's a stealth game. It almost feels like all enemy encounters start like Far Cry outpost missions. It has nonsensical, over-the-top action sequences that, for a cop game, don't make much sense, but I don't think they hurt the game for being there. In many of the levels, you can progress through it your way, finding different routes to sneak through and collect evidence for your "investigations." They're just basically a collectables achievement. Campaign is fine. Miles ahead of BF3 and BF4, but not fantastic.
Multiplayer is good, for the most part. It's extremely stables (I've had only one crash and a handful of disconnects, and that was mainly on the first day it came out). It runs smoothly at a good, stable frame rate, looks quite pretty, and sounds amazing. From a technical standpoint, it's one of the best battlefields. The new theme game modes, Heist and Bloodmoney, are great on most maps. Hotwire is ridiculous. It makes the progression system silly and pointless. It's a ton of fun and can be extremely tactical when people aren't exploiting the design flaws, but that's only 20% of the time. Most of the time, enemies and teammates alike grab the objective vehicles and drive around in circles in the back of the map. Is it a good way to get money? Hell yeah. Is it a good way to have fun. Absolutely not. They're going to have to fix the scoring system in Hotwire. TDM is a joke because there is literally no spawn system. It doesn't spawn each team on opposite sides, it doesn't let you spawn on teammates, it just spawns you randomly around the map, and most of the time you'll spawn directly into an enemy's field of view. Not some of the time. MOST of the time.
Weapon balance is atrocious. There might as well be only 3 guns in the game, (M416, M16, and K10). Nobody uses anything else because you're stupid not to.
Most of the problems with the game should be easily fixable. So if you're on the fence, wait a month or two until they patch the game into a better balanced state. If you love Battlefield, though, you should enjoy this one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here is my take on the newest game in the Battlefield series. Overall I really enjoyed this game, even with some of the drawbacks others have listed.
    First the good:
In the single player campaign you have an excellent story line with interesting characters and game play. I felt sympathy for the main character and enjoyed some of the ( somewhat predictable ) but excellent plot twists. I really enjoyed the "cop" feel to the game, rather then the typical military shooter. Previous BF and COD games pretty much have the same objective for every level : Shot the guys, move forward... maybe even occasionally pushing a button. This game relies heavily on a new stealth system with the ability to "arrest" enemies. Also in several levels there are high priority targets which if you arrest then you get to upgrade weaponry much faster.
    Multiplayer:
I HIGHLY enjoy the new game play options with hostage rescue ( rescue) and VIP escort ( crossfire ). If you like more fast pace shooting then try stealing drugs/cash from a vault ( heist. ) With new gadgets you can really explore the map and have many more exit/entry points to buildings. The game switches you between Cops and Thieves to switch up your play style. Also if you have a working mic you can strongly get a feel for team-play and coordinate breaches into buildings, holes in enemy lines to get past and host other options. While other shooting games have this Hardline really raises the bar for useful team interaction.
    However, now the Bad:
    Single player:
The leveling up system feels like it wasn't crafted to match the new game play. For the most part your stealth options stay the same from beginning to end while your access to the best ( loud guns ) gets better and better. To get better scores you play stealth, and your reward is better guns, that don't aid in stealth in the least. The gadgets you have access to in the game ( the tazer, evidence scanner, etc... ) could have a huge list of options for upgrades that were never realized. While the story line isn't your typical shoot I really felt that BF could have done more to play up the differences. Perhaps hostage rescue , bank heist that you plan, etc... Also at one point in the story you switch from a cop to a criminal, but keep the same character ( three year time jump. ) The game play however doesn't change with your options still being shoot the or arrest. This occasionaly made me wonder why he bothered arresting people, its not like he was leaving them for the cops. This did to much to bring me out of the story line. It would have played much better if you switched characters midway and maybe a different set of awards ( ie you get more points for killing the police chief, evading arrest being spotted... )
    MULTIPLAYER:
The best selling point for BF games for me is the interaction with environments. Being able to drop buildings and bust through walls was one of the highlights. Hard line really feels like it was a step down in this aspect from BF4. Also they keep helicopters in the game but took out the majority of ways to bring them down.

Overall I think this is a solid game. The possibilities for replay are high ( really want to go back and find some of the evidence in single player I missed, and now that I have the big guns I want to play with them rather then focusing on stealth. ) Multi player has enough game types to match most play styles and keep you from getting bored. I really hope they explore this game in the future and would love to see what they can do it. For now I think this is an excellent addition to the series and would recommend buying it.

Instead of people just sitting in tanks or jets and just picking people off while they spawn, Hardline only really gives you the vehicles available to cops and or robbers. The classes are well balanced and the money system where you can purchase guns, attachments and etc is just a great system and more games should use it. Nicely written SP campaign with complex characters and moments of laugh-out-loud humor. MP is a riot, of course....fast....fluid....frenetic. MP alone would have been worth the price of admission, in my opinion. Yes, not nearly the high graphical fidelity, at least on PS4, as BF4....but also, and very important to note.....I haven't had a single glaring issue in terms of stability ofNicely written SP campaign with complex characters and moments of laugh-out-loud humor. I've snapped onto a server within a couple seconds of trying every time....and have seen little to no significant lag/rubber banding since logging on. I have been disconnected from a single. We'll see how this evening plays out, but if things to continue to remain stable....I'm a happy gamer :) Expand

Really enjoyed the game had a blast, I think it was well worth the purchase plus there are some great game modes introduced which give a fresh feel to the series.

Online runs really smooth without any lag or server issues not noticed any hit detection issues which when compared to BF4 at launch is a massive positive. I think this will be my go to game for quite a while and anybody who

The maps are a good mix, there are a few huge maps like what we are used to and there are also some smaller maps which brings a nice change gameplay wise as its action packed. Level progression I enjoyed much more with earning money and being able to spend it on whatever upgrades I like.

The only negative I can give this game is that it is not a massive step from BF4 gameplay wise, but with the new modes etc. it is much more worthy than dlc as some have suggested.

My views are based on multiplayer as I have not tried single player yet, although I have heard it is one of the best in the series to date.

If you are hearing anyone say this is a payday ripoff then you can go ahead and just know they never played the game. There are police in this game so if that is ripping off payday then there you go. Its a FPS shooter, nothing more and nothing less. If you like those kind of games then you will enjoy it. No it doesnt reinvent the wheel but does it really need to? Crazy, I swear I thought I was done with FPS shooters. I bought this on impulse, bored, not much to play ATM and I am oh so happy I did. This is hands down the best multiplayer fps ive played, the new gamemodes are a breathe of fresh air, the guns feel real and finally we have a decent campaign, I'd go as far to say a GOOD one.

If you dont like FPS why even review this? as most of you

When you go to play this game, keep in mind that it's battlefield in name only, the focus here is on fast paced claustrophobic intense gunfights versus spectacular large scale open combat. Having said that, Battlefield Hardline tries to do something different and it mostly succeeds, from it's campy but well polished campaign to the overhauled multiplayer, it's a very different game than 4 was. Some people might think this is a bad thing, personally as someone who's played hundreds of shooters in their lifetime, I appreciate the new direction. It keeps battlefield from getting stale, although if you're looking for the more of the same, you probably won't like it, in fact you might hate it.

I always thought part of the problem with the way games are received by their audience is that player's expectations skew and tarnish the experience, for me I was expecting a reskin of BF4, what I got was a game that maintains the same general tone, of the series, but the mechanics are just different enough to feel fresh and new to me. Most notable is the sound design and the chaos of indoor gunfights, everything from the default pistol to the light machineguns has a rich hearty boom to it that's unsettling when you're in the middle of a gun fight and the environment reacts to bullet impacts in a satisfying way throwing debris in the air while you hear muffled shouts from your assailants. The difference is the focus on the single player game is more one of stealth, and while it's completely optional, it's the fastest way to unlock bonus items, and there's also an evidence gathering scavenger hunt thrown in as well. The battles are like well choreographed scenes from a tv show or movie, and the entire plot is presented like a binge session of a show on netflix. Levels are "episodes" and if you quit to the main menu, scenes from the next episode are played as a teaser. It feels mostly polished and in a few levels the designers get away from the linear scripted campaigns that have become so popular lately. The open levels are reminiscent of the multiplayer maps, which is a really nice touch, since this series is known for its multiplayer, and it flows at a quicker pace than the other games.

When I booted up multiplayer, there are a lot of noticeable changes, the progression system has been overhauled, and the unlocks are done mostly through cash earned through play. The xp bonuses have also been changed to only grant bonuses for specific actions, such as team actions or assists, or vehicle support. It seems complicated and bloated and unnecessary, and both sides of the law have specific unlocks that you can only use when you're on a certain team. My first few games were amazing, the default classes were all set up to be enjoyable right off the bat, except maybe the professional, and the game ran perfectly. The next time I played it was a horrible laggy mess though. My character rubber banded constantly, weapons would delay when firing, or not at all, the whole thing ran like a joke, even the menus lagged. Granted this was the weekend it came out and the servers were most likely clogged, but still, after beta testing I didn't expect it to run worse than 4, and at least in 4 if you had a crap connection you could still pull off a few decent kills if you change your playstyle. In hardline, it's all about close combat though, and time to kill seems significantly quicker than the previous games. The other issue is the spawning system, you have a sort of kill cam showing your attackers next few moves, then a cooldown timer that seems to increase your time out depending on how well you did prior to being killed. At first I liked this idea, however it became aggravating when the game spawned me on top of a grenade, then I watched my killer, then it made me wait on the timer. If I haven't even spent a second playing the game, I shouldn't have to wait another 10 to respawn, on top of watching the kill cam, it seems like a poor design choice to me in that sense. Also the hint system is horrible. Obvious things are pointed out repeatedly and you have to close the hint to proceed, but non obvious things are never explained in the new game modes and you're left wondering how to play a specific objective while the enemy team rushes you and kills you.

When it works though, it's amazing. It reminds me of counterstrike, and the emphasis on secondary weapons reminds me of modern warfare 2, the pacing is fast and the close quarters battles are adrenaline pumping. It's not perfect, and I do have a few gripes about it, but it's playable and enjoyable enough that I'm glad I picked it up.

Bottom line is if you want a different style shooter in single player or a counter strike style experience in multiplayer, pick this up. It fills a weird niche in the shooter market, but I feel like it might not stand up well enough on its own for people who aren't up to date on the series or are looking for the next copy paste game.

Tho the unlocks are little wonky but game play is amazing. I have fun on every game mode. This isn't military shooter. Don't get mad and compare it to the other BF games. I love hot wire, rescue, and cross-hair. Team death match is 32 vs 32. Zero server issues. Single play campaign i was skeptical but ended up being very good. I try to arrest the bad guys more than shoot them. The tazer isTho the unlocks are little wonky but game play is amazing. I have fun on every game mode. This isn't military shooter.
