From a technical standpoint the game is mostly perfect. Glitches are rare and only minor when they do pop up. The voice acting is phenomenal, the soundtrack makes great use of licensed music, and it just all around sounds great. The area where it mostly stumbles is in the graphics. Character models look fantastic. Facial expressions and other animations are near-flawless. There's a great attention to detail in regards to things like clothing that really make these characters feel lifelike. The same can't be said for the environments. Everything has sort of a plastic look to it. The majority of the game's levels make use of generic and bland scenery. While the characters look incredible, the environments are far from current gen.

The new focus on police action actually breathes some new life in the campaign. The story is pretty entertaining and has some good characters. The way it's set up, with levels bring called "episodes," show that the game is trying to capture the feel of those police dramas we see on TV. However it quickly devolves into action-movie junk food that kind of throws logic to the wind. It's still hard to complain as it's still entertaining thanks to some solid writing and likable characters. The humor is also appreciated.

The campaign's gameplay also fares well. The change in focus from soldiers to cops also plays a role here as well. For one thing you don't have to go through it all guns blazing. There's a pretty satisfying stealth element to it. Catching enemies unaware let's you flash the badge and use the nonlethal option of arresting them. It's a pretty cool new way to play that makes the campaign feel different than the average affair modern shooters pop out. There are still plenty of action packed moments for the more explosion hungry gamers out there.

For all of the campaign's solid elements it doesn't change the fact that it has the same problem as every other modern, multiplayer focused FPS: it's really only good for a playthrough or two. Some extra collectibles are scattered throughout to entice you to come back at least once more, but it just won't last you long. However I still enjoyed the campaign. I would have preferred some actual teammate AI (they literally just stand around and don't help you at all), but overall I wouldn't mind seeing a continuation of the story in a Hardline 2.

As always with these types of games the emphasis is definitely on the multiplayer. Some new modes make their way to the series that tie into the police vs. criminals theme of the game. "Heist" and "Hotwire" are the standouts. These new modes focus on objectives that keep the action moving. The result is matches that keep players directly involved in the action and almost constantly moving. This type of gameplay is at odds with what longtime Battlefield fans have come to expect from the series. The more fast-paced, close quarters feel of these modes have already been accused of being more Call of Duty than Battlefield.

If that's not your cup of tea then don't worry. Hardline's new modes only comprise about half of the multiplayer experience. The other half is Battlefield 4. That's kind of an issue with this game. If it weren't for the campaign it's not hard to see that this very well could have just been a Battlefield 4 expansion on the multiplayer side. They just kind of stretched it out to make another full game. A questionable and controversial move. Whether or not you'll like the new parts of the Battlefield multiplayer experience just depends on if you've ever wanted your Battlefield matches to be more close quarters with constant movement that results in more immediate action. There's a noticeable difference between Hardline's new modes and the one's from Battlefield 4.

Overall Hardline does some new things, particularly with it's single-player content. We get a solid campaign and some fun new multiplayer modes. However, given that half of the multiplayer modes are just repackaged from Battlefield 4 is kind of a big issue. While not enough to kill this new spin-off, it is enough to make you wonder if it's really worth picking up just for a few new modes when you already purchased Battlefield 4. While I can't say if it will be worth it to you, I can say it's a solid and enjoyable game on it's own rights. Perhaps not a true new step for the multiplayer, but it's fun nonetheless and the new modes do a good job of changing up the standard Battlefield action. The fun campaign is also a nice treat.

    I give the game a 7.5/10.

Battlefield: Hardline fails to bring anything "new" to the table like Battlefield 4 or Bad Company did. That being said, Visceral Games did a great job with the online modes. Also, the story mode or "episodes" play like a modern crime T.V. show (ex. Justified, CSI) and even have the "next time on Hardline" and "previously on Hardline" dialogues.
I'll start with multiplayer because, let's face it, that's why most of us are buying it. You won't be flying jets or driving tanks in this entry... But you'll be able to race to the scene in a variety of police or criminal vehicles like: vans, patrol cars, and even heavily armored trucks with .50cals on top (or even have your team-mates shoot out the windows of your vehicle. Conquest (large or small) returns in Hardline but many new modes make the online feel fresh like:
-Hotwire where the criminals are trying to steal a bunch of cars while the police try and re-possess them.
-Heist is exactly what it sounds like, each team is trying to infiltrate and steal the cash for their team.
-Rescue is where police must infiltrate and save a hostage from the criminals but, there are no respawns, the action is intense in this mode.
-Blood Money A huge pile of loot has been intercepted in transit. The criminals are battling for the money to steal and bank it, while the police are there to secure it for evidence. You can also raid the enemy teams base and steal money.
-Crosshair a former criminal turned state’s witness is on the run from his former crew. The criminals are trying to erase the VIP’s face from the world, while the cops are trying to get him out safely.

I feel like BF does enough here to make it fresh and exciting. I like that you get money now when you get kills, assists and for completing objectives to spend on whatever you like. The multiplayer works on launch which obviously, did not happen with Battlefield 4. Team-work is also a great idea in some of these modes especially rescue!

Single player: I feel like single player is one of the best BF has produced since Bad Company. The characters are all very well written and, like I said before, plays like a T.V. series making you wonder what will happen next. I also like how you can play however you like, stealth or guns blazing. Although, guns blazing isn't the best idea because you die much faster in this iteration. Something I didn't like is unlocks don't cater to both ways of playing the game (stealth or guns blazing), you are rewarded more for being silent and making arrests. It's also very cool how you can seek out evidence into cases and complete them, unlocking new weaponry and XP leading to leveling up and eventually get battlepacks.
Overall though, the game isn't worth buying just for the SP. I still very much enjoyed it though.
If you're a fan of Battlefield, pick this up. It's a great game to sink hours into and have a good time in single-player as well. It still feels like a lot like BF4 though and that's a bit of a drawback for me (having played 350 hours in BF4). I know I'll get dislikes for giving this a positive review but, it's just my opinion.

    Pros:
    + Fresh new multiplayer modes
    + Enjoyable single player
    + Stable servers

    Cons:
    - Graphics have not changed
    - Feels lots like BF4
    - Flashing your badge freezes enemies in their tracks for laughable arrests

    Overall: 7.5/10

You basically just get rewarded with cash for doing stuff, which would be fine but there isn't a lot to buy with the money so after a very short amount of time you will end up just sitting on hundreds of thousands of dollars with nothing to buy which is irritating and seems poorly thought out by the developers. The second problem is kind of the cause of the leveling system being bad and that is the lack of gun variety. Each class has three guns to choose from, which very very limiting in a regular multiplayer game but going from BF4's huge and interesting gun library to having three guns to choose from almost breaks the experience. Having close to(I don't have time to actually count so I'm making an educated geuss) 40 guns to choose from in any given class was a core pillar of what made BF4 special. Though despite this, the game remains good because of the battlefield franchises signature gunplay and a bunch of fun game modes. Expand

Quotes from the great intellectual sicfit92's review include: "3)cars running around like idiots!!! this is not a racing game goddamit!! its a shooting game!!!" Obviously dear sicfit hasn't experienced a Battlefield game before. From reading his compelling review, I have reason to believe he is in fact 12 years old and the only prior experience he has had with an FPS is Call of Duty.

On a serious note, COD kiddies should not be reviewing this game. They have no right to compare their garbage to a Battlefield instalment. These kids have barely the slightest idea of what makes a game good and blame the mechanics for their gameplay screw-ups. Reading reviews from these ill-informed idiots is painful. Is it the game's fault you have severe autism? No. Is the game responsible for your low IQ? No. If anything, go blame your parents.

Back to the actual review, if you look at this game as purely a spin-off for the Battlefield franchise and do not compare it to the previous instalments, it is extremely fun. I have played the Beta and the final version of this game and it is great if you don't let unfair comparisons to BF3 and 4 blind you. Hotwire by far is the most fun gamemode. The game may seem overpriced for something that is so similar to previous games, and after a while it can get boring. I admit there are not a lot of guns to purchase either. But besides all those minor quarrels Hardline is a great game. Not exactly what I would've wanted from a Battlefield game, but great nonetheless.

Love the idea, pretty well executed, could've been technically better.
Everything you want in an FPS is here.
    Not as polished as BF4
    Graphics could've been better.
AI was weak to help with the "Arrest" feature.
The story was as cliche as any TV cop show but I still had a blast.
Highly underrated, would love to see a sequel with a bit more care put into it

Multiplayer feels like bf4, but there are couple nice new modes and graphics went a little to future.
If it went out before half of year, it was better, thought beta you could try this game and full game didn't bring to many things to suprise, now game feels like dlc more likely, than full game.
What about premium, i am not sure i will buy it, maybe for lower price later, because it really doesn't change gameplay and couple new maps get bored, after few hours.
Netcode is better, but still not good, dying behind walls is still here and there are some buggs, like passing wehicle and it threw me to 5 meters in air.
Battlefield needs some more, like when was released battlefield 3, it changed everything, this is not really game worth for 60E price.

Overall the campaign is a short fun experience layed out like a cop drama but still work to do to get a truely gripping drama.
As for multiplayer its hard to go from battlefield 4's large open maps with tanks and jets to suv's and bank vaults. The new game modes are nothing to get too ecited about, a quick look at the server list reveals the most popular modes to be the returning modes conquest and team deathmatch! The way you buy weapons with cash earned in game is interesting but their are hardly any guns to buy. Experimenting with other classes is also fustrating due to the fact that the operator (assault/medic) is pretty much the best and most important guy with the combination of health packs and assault rifles. Overall the multiplayer is nothing special and i honsetly cant see it having any legs in the long run, my reccomendation is battlefield 4s multiplayer with the dlc.
In conclusion Its an intersting prospect but lack of attention to detail on what cops and robbers actually would act like lets this game down. However its still battlefield and newcomers and veterans could appreciate the change in asthetic and theme.

Unlike Battlefield 4, Hardline focuses more on the smaller set pieces rather than giant skyscrapers collapsing, and these set pieces are really cool to watch happen. I wish there were many, many more weapons, but the weapons they give you are very good and easy to pick up and use. My one big gripe is that in both single and multiplayer, driving is extremely sluggish and needs to be improved. It feels like you're trying to drive a block of ice. I also don't like how other than the few new game modes, which are still very good, Hardline doesn't really sell the whole "Cops and Robbers" concept. With some updates and some expansions, this game can become much more than what it is now, but for what we got, at a full $60, is something that you may want to wait on unless you just can't wait to play, because this is still quite a good game, it's just not a very big one. There are positives though. I fully expect Hotwire to be a staple game mode in the series from now on because its a ton of fun, the heists are great too . Lastly the campaign is usually considered an afterthought in BF games but FWIW Hardlines is one of the better ones in the series.

Battlefield Hardline is one of my favourite Battlefield games to date because it's a welcome change in direction. By altering the series' focus from 'soldiers at war' to 'cops and robbers' lends a fresh perspective on modern conflict. Another reason why I enjoyed Battlefield Hardline is because it liberally borrows stealth gameplay elements from the Far Cry games - a franchise which I admittedly admire. However, in hindsight Battlefield Hardline didn't fully meet my expectations, in particular it's story.

From the outset (and the fact that Visceral were developing the game) I expected Hardline's narrative to be mature and sophisticated. Most importantly, I wanted the story to be 'different'. Unfortunately, Hardline's story is yet another typical run-of-the-mill cop story that features a predictable betrayal element to justify fighting on both sides of the law. Even despite the premises' lack of originality, I still think it could've been handled better. The only saving grace is that there is one side character who feels fresh and provides most of the humour through how witty he is (you know who I'm talking about).

Another point of criticism is the game's reliance (or more accurately, over-reliance) on stealth. Now, I know I said I liked how Hardline liberally borrowed the stealth gameplay elements from the Far Cry games and I really dig that, but when I finished the game and recalled how much of the game's missions and scenarios focused on sneaking around and taking enemies down silently, I was genuinely surprised when I realised how much of the game's total length I had spent doing just that. Approximately 85% of Battlefield Hardline's campaign gameplay revolves around stealth. The real problem with Hardline's over-reliance on stealth is the simple fact that the stealth gameplay never really changes or ever truly evolve beyond the stealth gameplay formula established by the Far Cry franchise. This leads to A LOT of repetition and subsequent fatigue and boredom. Especially given the fact that I basically played the game for 8 hours straight.

Battlefield Hardline isn't great, but at the same time it isn't awful. While I liked how it borrows from Ubisoft's FPS juggernaut, Hardline's cop premise hangs by a thread to the point where it feels like window dressing until laughably even that gets ditched in the final mission where the game literally goes full Far Cry 3. And when something fully becomes the thing that it's imitating and abandons it's identity, nothing more needs to be said.

I've experienced plenty of kill trades which are amplified by the fact that the guns hits you very hard. TDM is a mess with the poor spawn system and it's extremely luck based, depending on whether you see your opponent first or vice versa.

Campaign was descent, even though it has some cringy moments. There are nice missions, interesting enviroment. But the main character is so forgettable..And other characters,also..They dont leave any impression on you.It is far from a bad game,it has ups and downs, but after all,if you are playing it for the campaign, you should try it

I actually like the campaign of this game. It's better than other bf games. It's not very good but entertaining.
I like the multiplayer too. Again it is not very good but enough for a bf game. I don't know what people were expecting.

Hardline Battlefield game was a beautiful, spectacular and finishing game, but it did not have good graphics and characterization, and this is why I deducted 2 points from this game, 1 point, because it was not as beautiful as Battlefield 4, its story and battlefield It was out of sight until 2016, when Nebar Square 1 was released

A simple shooter, or rather a game with shooter elements.Honestly, you can say the same thing about it as about call of duty black ops 3, they are the same in terms of semantic load zero. But hardline is a little better in the atmosphere itself than call of duty

Multiplayer - This is surprisingly barebones for a "Battlefield" game. 7 modes where 4 of them are only minor variations of the same thing. Has the worst things I hate about Battlefield games amplified: lots of sniping and lots of walking to action. Nope.

Singleplayer - This is the best singleplayer in a Battlefield game ever. That is not saying much. It is actually a poorly implemented

Singleplayer - This is the best singleplayer in a Battlefield game ever. That is not saying much. It is actually a poorly implemented stealth game for the most part. It is basically crappy Hitman cop edition. The story is pretty good for a videogame story but it isn't groundbreaking. I enjoyed it for what it was enough to want to finish it. Eh?

After putting in a decent amount of time on multiplayer, and completing the single player I feel this entry in the BF franchise has definitely been CODified. And not for the better.

To start with, the single player campaign is ridiculous. The story makes no sense and the writing is on par with cop shows that last half a season. Terrible writing. The action is a bit better and compels

To start with, the single player campaign is ridiculous. The story makes no sense and the writing is on par with cop shows that last half a season. Terrible writing. The action is a bit better and compels the game onward, although it's just a reskinned BF4. It's a military shooter with a cop theme, it doesnt really work all the time. Flashing your badge after you've been kicked off the force? Doesn't really make sense...

The multiplayer however makes this a decent ride. New modes like hotwire and hostage rescue absolutely kick ass. It's addictive fun. I can't help but feel that this is a much more scaled down version of battlefields past, though. Each class has between 3-5 weapons to choose from compared to dozens from games past. The action has been much sped up and things move at a COD style pace. Deaths come quick in this one.

Overall, I come to BF for a more methodical, slowed down shooter. Not the frantic mayhem of COD. I feel let down by this entry and hope that they return to form on their next entry.

Superficially it might look like a reskin, but Battlefield Hardline is no cop out. [May 2015, p71]

There's genuine long-term fun to be had in multiplayer modes, but it's not consistent. [June 2015, p.66]

Its new modes offer a lot, but certain elements feel marginalised. [May 2015, p.89]
