    The premise was good, Moba arena fights for competitive play and a campaign mode to give lore and structure to the game without needing a bunch of out-of-game sources like Overwatch. That and it had a lot of my favorite anime VA's. Ultimately the game failed to the extensive character unlock process and loot box mechanics.     Ultimately the game failed to the extensive character unlock process and loot box mechanics. As of Feb 2020 you can no longer buy currency for loot boxes and at the end of the year the game will shut down. Since the game, even in single player campaign rely's on connecting to 2K's server the game will be completely unplayable, even if you own a physical copy of the game. I feel for people that spent good money and love this game to have it all ripped from them unceremoniously.    … Expand

    Boa ideia, péssima execução. A gearbox se esforçou ao máximo para o fracasso jogo, foi lançado sem hype, massacrado pelo lançamento do overwatch e ainda com um péssimo suporte.     A fun and colorful game that doesn't take itself too seriously. The character design and humor is on point. The campaign is okay, but it is the multi-player portion of the game that really shines. The characters are fun and imaginative and feel very different from one another.     Я очень сильно люблю эту игру, но я ненавижу разработчиков и сам жадную фирму 2К! Мало того, что мой аккаунт не стал Deluxe изданием, после покупки игры через аккаунт брата. Общался с тех поддержкой, сидит бот-девушка, пишет с ошибками, послала читать меня лицензионное соглашение на английском языке. Боже, это сущий кошмар, отдал 1.5к рублей (по скидке) за делюкс, получил "высер" (грубо, яЯ очень сильно люблю эту игру, но я ненавижу разработчиков и сам жадную фирму 2К!     What Kind of Adventure?

    There were 8 stages and I only played 5 before giving up. I actually enjoyed the first boss, ISIC the most.

    Would you play it again?

    No, I already sent it back to gamefly after playing about 6 hours.

    Any Complaints?

    Yes, you only get 5 revives for an entire chapter so if you die, you immediately respawn and keep the story going. I really like that game component until I hit the 5th final boss. I play with through the entire stage to get to the final boss, work him down to 25% and he heals himself. Lose all my lives and then I have to restart the entire level (which by the way, it took me an hour to get to the final boss). I take a break and come back the next day, next day is the same thing. An hour to get there, work the boss down and he’s heals himself. I lose all my lives and I would have to have restart at the beginning of level which meant another hour before I could fight the final boss. I didn’t have it in me and I had to stop.

    How many hours did you play it?

    This game was totally boring in my opinion! I got bored on the game in less than 2 hours. The creator of borderlands really took a huge step back with this one... though I can see why this game could be fun for some people, but it is not for me.

    I really did not like this game. It is boring at some point of the history and the online mode is not too good. It has pretty graphics and many characters to play, but I got bored playing it.

    I just bought it because it was really cheap, and it was from the same developers from borderlands... It was a really disappointment, Always online? Can i ask why?... To play "story mode" i need to be authorized by the #$%&/ing server?, when i saw this behavior on plants vs zombies garden warfare i thought it was a garbage resource from EA and now i find the same on a game that hasI just bought it because it was really cheap, and it was from the same developers from borderlands... It was a really disappointment, Always online? Can i ask why?...     If i had reviewed this game before the january update, i would probably have given it a 6. But 60 fps makes all the difference. Fun game, and now it looks and plays great, too. They really should have optimized it before release, its unlikely many people who gave up on it are going to give it another chance.

    Superb game, has a better quality sheen than Overwatch and Overwatch's superior version Paladins. Bravo Gearbox Studios, a game that will be remembered forever, known as the Overwatch killer, showing that a market for games better than Overwatch exists. Great characters, diverse cast (unlike Overwatch's poor oversexualized female figures) and the lore is exquisite.

    Love the game-play, hate the system setup. There are just so many things in the game that are glaringly obviously needing to be fixed, like the inability to play without sitting through a un-skippable 6 minute intro. Or the terrible matchmaking system, etc.

    The characters are fun, there's lot of strategic depth, lots of ways to enable effective cooperation. So now that they've pissed    Love the game-play, hate the system setup.     This game is awesome especially on split screen! Currently most of new games doesn't have split screen feature - in my opinion it's great feature!

    Heroes are well designed and I really enjoy playing with them and create combos / better setups with my girlfriend.

    This game is dead, don't even bother picking it up. You won't find anyone playing this boring crap online. It's sad when see the fanboys defending this game. Some of the fanboys are trying so hard to get more people to buy this game. Don't buy it, you're going to waste your money if you do.

    guaranteeing a playstyle match for anyone…
    it’s just a shame that the rest of the game isn’t as well thought out as these characters are…
    Battleborn is unique from most first person shooters in that, every story mission or competitive multiplayer match your character starts at level 1... And as you level up to a maximum of 10 you are given a choice in a perk to enhance your shield, cool down rates, health, damage, or to enhance one of your 3 special moves... the third being unlocked once you reach level 5…
    The story mode consists of 9 episodes and depending on whether you go in alone or play with 4 other people for a total 5, these 9 episodes will take you anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, making this story mode a hefty 6-9 hours long…
    I definitely recommend you play with friends though, as I found these missions to be insanely challenging playing on your own..
    And while there are checkpoints, there is no saving so you must play through these 1 hour missions in 1 go…
    You also have limited lives... so if you lose all of your lives you fail the mission and have to start all the way from the beginning…
    These lives are frustratingly shared when you play co-op,
    so it’s very possible for 1 bad player to cost you a final boss fight win... but thankfully you can revive fallen players…
    This story mode is the best part of battleborn, aside from the characters..
    and that’s not saying much as it all feels so uninspired…
    Every mission has a self-contained story that leads to a final conclusion but all 9 feel exactly the same…
    Kill these bad guys, get to the next checkpoint, kill a mini boss, do this 2 more times, get to the main boss.. Get close to defeating him but oh no he has an annoying shield... disable it…defeat him for real, oh wait a surprise 2nd shield that you totally didn’t expect because every boss before this one totaly didn’t also have a surprise shield…
    just kidding, they did.
    needless to say, this story mode quickly becomes a grind…
    There are a few good jokes from the characters... but after a few hours, it’s just not cute anymore…
    They’re background noise in a grind fest…
    And there really is no payoff for grinding rather than ranking your character up for a new skin, or to unlock another character...
    There’s no real loot here, so there’s no incentive to explore these levels or grind these levels…
    you’re literally just playing until you unlock a different character to do it all over again…
    or of course to play in competitive multiplayer…
    And remember how I said story mode was the best part?
    I meant it.
    Competitive multiplayer consists of 3 modes…
    A capture, incursion, and meltdown mode...
    These are capture and hold 3 different points on the map, get to the enemies sentries and destroy them, or an escort battle, where you try to stop the other team from getting their robots from one spot to another…
    Each mode has only 2 maps, and these modes are even more lifeless and filler feeling than the campaign..
    Your standard boring stuff...
    id say its fun for a little bit, but id be lying to you.
    No team death match, which I think would’ve been insanely fun with the leveling up systems, and the different character feels…
    but it’s not here... the mode that would be the most fun and makes the most sense is not here…
    While the story mode does have its moments of fun, and the characters are a blast to play around with and figure out..
    There’s ultimately not much here to keep you entertained for more than a few days.
    A deep system of characters, with a shallow arena to play in.

The campaign's story is sort of whatever, but it is told enthusiastically and provides a nice cushion for PVP, in terms of leveling up your character and farming for items, which can be used in PVP.     I would like to start by saying I've sank a lot of time into this game. I've been playing since day 1 of the beta and preordered the Digital Deluxe. I've mastered several characters and feel that I am finally confident enough to give a proper opinion, take it as you would like.
    If you buy the game expecting Overwatch, Borderlands, or anything else, you're going to have a bad time. This is    I would like to start by saying I've sank a lot of time into this game.     If you buy the game expecting Overwatch, Borderlands, or anything else, you're going to have a bad time. This is honestly one of the most unique and compelling games I have played in the last decade. It has an appealing blend of unique gameplay and characters that keep me coming back.
    Those complaining about the graphics simply don't understand the art style.
    I will admit that the game may have some minor issues at the moment, but what you need to understand is that this is a LIVING game. Weekly hotfixes, monthly patches, and free DLC's being released regularly with new games modes and characters.
    Albeit the game is discouraging to new users with the lack of proper tutorials and guidance, but the devs are very involved with the community forums and are working to constantly make the game more fun.
    Best advice I can give you is hang in there! If you find yourself lost constantly or struggling to accomplish anything online, simply youtube or visit /r/battleborn on Reddit and learn a little more about the game. Also, finding the right hero to main may be part of the issue. It's all about finding someone you just click with and suits your personal play style.

    TL;DR - Don't be discouraged. There's a hero and game mode for everyone, and if something isn't clicking with you try to research the game a little more. Once you have the hang of it, the game is truly fun and addicting. Happy hunting!    … Expand

    The one thing that's nice with mixed reviews, is that Gearbox is adapting to the pressure. They've dropped the price (I paid $60, I'm not bitter) have performed numerous hotfixes, and have already released one character. I would like to see a better rank system and penalties for quitting.

    The game Battleborn is trying to blend First Person Shooter with MOBA's like SMITE and they did well in my opinion. The game has 25 characters(5 being free DLC characters) with each of the characters being different. The game offers COOP Story mode(Loot will carry over to PvP) and 3 PvP modes called:
    - Incursion: Destroy the 2 sentries from the opponents with your team, while defending your own.
    - Meltdown: Escort your minions to their objective, while preventing the opponent's minions to reach their objective
    - Capture: Typical capture and defend game mode alot of FPS has.

    The reason why I like this game is because of the freedom in personalizing the hero you're playing combat-wise and the support of the developers. You've alot of freedom to personalize your own hero. Increasing the attributes of the heroes with different loadouts and changing their abilities during combat.
    The support is also great with a DLC character already being play-able. Also they already changed the map lay-out, since some people played with unfair advantages.

    I also like the complexity of this game compared to your other FPS. You need to incl. alot of different things like managing your economy, building turrents, buying gears, recruiting mercs, etc.

    So to summarize it. Battleborn is underappreciate for what's trying to do and is being compared with the wrong games. It's a complex game with freedom and great support. The complexity is something not everyone will like. So do you like a complex, yet fun First Person Shooter? If so, Battleborn will most likely be a game you would want to try out. If you know someone who has Battleborn, try it out with him/her by playing Coop story to feel if you like the settings, characters, etc.    … Expand

    The game is amazing and very fun. It has a ton of content, like serious replay value. The PvP you are used to in games is similar to the capture mode which is a vamped up king of the hill, but then it has 2 other modes that are more moba influenced which give you completely different experiences. The moba aspects aren't overwhelming at all unless you play the meltdown mode, where you follow minions to try and lead them to the other goal, or defend your goal. All in all though, it plays very easily, you just have actual goals instead of blind killing. Theres so much store and lore with an amazing raid-like campaign that I've already played through a good couple times! The characters are so interesting and you can unlock more of their backstory through completing certain challenges. It's been a blast and I highly recommend it. It's definitely more enjoyable with friends, but don't fear because it was super easy to make and add new friends due to the integrated steam friend list!     This game has a lot of depth; some characters are easy to learn, some are hard. Mastery is a whole different matter. There is a lot of challenge and fun PvP game modes to complement a witty, Gearbox-Borderlands humor filled story campaign.

    This is by far the best video game I have ever played. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun and dynamic. So much better than overwatch. Play this game!!!! its truly one of a kind

    At first I wasn't sure I liked this game much, but once I figured out the nuances of the game everything changed. It took a few hours of play before I really started to enjoy this game big time. I have yet to play multi-player, but I'm really really enjoy the campaign. Just a fun game that doesn't take itself to serious.

You go out, shoot, get killed. And you respawn and start over. That's it. Over and over. Everything is a mess. Sometimes I won't even know how I end up being best player or or close. Sometimes I won't even know how I end up being best player or or close. For no reason or no intention. I was just spamming buttons. WTF.

    The graphics looks like PS3 but I suppose it could be the art style they're going for.... Not terrible but I cannot say the game has good graphics. You will get a headache after 15 minutes because you will be seeing bright colours flashing everywhere, numbers, particles all over, explosions, lasers, players jumping up and down..... it's all random and you won't know what's going on half the time.

    This is a game that feels new in the first match, and anything after you will feel the repetition. There is a wide range of characters with wacky design. There's this one penguin operating a mech. Lol. So some props shall be given to the character design. But what is the point of designing your characters when you are fixed to first person?? This game would work so much better if it was third person. Trust me.

    So all in all, this game isn't fun. It's overly repetitive. No idea how people are giving it 10 out of 10. There is no honesty. Please I implore you to watch Youtube gameplay vids before going ahead and buying this. Don't just look at scores. I returned this game in 2 days. FAIL!    … Expand

    this game is amazing and fun BUT one thing destroys it to the point of being a 6 or not as good as overwatch and that is most gamers dont have a clue what there playing as 4 out of 5 matches turn into a team death match , its horrible and the reason i returned the game after a week for overwatch . maybe one day it will get better but people have to get this game is not COD and the devsthis game is amazing and fun BUT one thing destroys it to the point of being a 6 or not as good as overwatch and that is most gamers dont have a clue what there playing as 4 out of 5 matches turn into a team death match , its horrible and the reason i returned the game after a week for overwatch . maybe one day it will get better but people have to get this game is not COD and the devs should release a plain mode of team deathmatch to keep the gamers out of the other modes so they dont wreck the game for us who want to play the moba style with out having most of the team running around doing nothing that helps… Expand

    Funny, beautiful and with plenty of content. This game has barely released and I already have hundreds of hours of gameplay. It is indeed a Moba Hero-Shooter with a sweet lore unlocked by missions and gameplay. The two main PVP maps require a good amount of map awareness and decision making to keep things interesting every match.

    The game does have a few issues though. The lack of a    Funny, beautiful and with plenty of content. This game has barely released and I already have hundreds of hours of gameplay. It is indeed a Moba Hero-Shooter with a sweet lore unlocked by missions and gameplay. The two main PVP maps require a good amount of map awareness and decision making to keep things interesting every match.

    The game does have a few issues though. The lack of a draft mode and ranked matches, although Gearbox is constantly listening to the player base and those mods will be released 100%.    … Expand

    We wish the story had a stronger narrative, the online restrictions weren’t so frustrating, and the humor had more variety. But the diversity in everyone’s abilities and playstyles should be enough to keep the light of this last star shining for dedicated Gearbox fans.
