Telltale’s Batman tale continues to impress and overcome its minor technical glitches to deliver one hell of a dark knight mystery.

Guardian of Gotham is consistently strong throughout its two hours, constantly presenting tense scenes that play off the choices you’ve made in previous episodes, with one major disappointment: It ends on an abrupt note that offers no idea of what’s to come in the final installment. Still, this episode packs enough dramatic moments, character development, and entertaining action sequences to emerge as one of the best episodes in the series and one of the best experiences by Telltale in recent memory, period.

A great chapter that leaves this story in a perfect spot for the last entry.

Episode 4 doesn’t work for any particular goal in of itself - it’s justification is almost entirely self-existent. If anything it’s merely sweeping the paveway for the finale.

Adrenaline and the strength of Bruce's will are at the core of Episode 4, which is shorter than the previous episode, but more action-packed and enjoyable. Will Episode 5 live up to the high expectations generated by the well-crafted first four episodes? It's up to Telltale.

It still boasts some great artwork and dramatic story beats while serving up a few interesting surprises, even if lacking in the action department.

As far as story and character development goes - not to mention cliffhangers and intriguing developments - Guardian of Gotham is easily the best episode of the series so far. Unfortunately, the technical issues that seem to plague every Telltale release nowadays are also present here. Shame.

Fortunately for players of Batman: The Telltale Series, Episode 4 is a lot better than Episode 3. Captivating, fast paced and full of famous characters (who are sometimes different from what comic fans are used to) the second to last episode of this episodic games is worthy of the player's time. It's just too bad that the game isn't fully translated for non-English speaking gamers.

For everything that Guardian of Gotham does right, it makes all the wrong moves to get there. The story reaches a precipice of intensity after a very slow burn over the last three episodes, and the dire situations at hand seem impossible to resolve within a single finale, with far too many threads left open after the conclusion of this penultimate episode.

Guardian of Gotham continues on downward trend of this rickety episodic series. The script is sometimes too hasty, full of omissions, insignificant moral choices and insipid plot twists.

A solid enough penultimate episode, but the overall quality of this series hinges on how Telltale brings the threads together to finish it.

Episode 4 of Batman’s Telltale series continues to tell a good story, but the lack of progression and pay-off does hamper it quite significantly.

This Batman game continues to be subpar, only offering so much excitement as easy quick time events and a slow story progression.
