With a ton of ways to play and a spiffy new upgrade, Edge of Control is a lot of fun and held my attention better than many other racing games.

Baja: Edge of Control HD is a remaster that may be head-scratching at first, but once you get your hands on it, there’s plenty to enjoy. Outside of some mixed texture work, the game runs and plays silky smooth. Given the game’s accessible price tag, off-road racing fans certainly have a lot to enjoy. There’s just something blissful about racing out in the open terrain, overlooking the land.

Baja: Edge of Control HD is a better game than what the original used to be; however, the lack of diversity among the tracks makes the game fun only in the short term, and even the multiplayer modes can't do much to help that.

Baja: Edge of Control HD is a decent, if uninspiring, racing title. The mechanics hearken back to a time when racing was simpler but the tracks can be boring with those mechanics in play. The modes are sparse, but they function well, and the presentation is decent, although it falls in the lower end of the spectrum for the current console generation. With the lack of competition in this field, Baja HD can look enticing, but don't expect it to compete with the bigger names in the genre.

Baja: Edge of Control, 2XL's 2008 sim-racing game, returns after nine years in a revamped HD version addressing the frame rate issues of the original game. A title recommended to fans of legendary Mexican competition Baja 1000 and dirt-track races.

This is a new opportunity to enjoy BAJA: Edge of Control after almost ten years from its release. However, even though this is a remastered version, the game still looks too old and lacks the functionality that other racing games have.

Baja is about as middle of the road as remasters get. While it’s great to see Nordic paying attention to its stable of dormant THQ properties, exhuming an average racing game from 2008 seems a tad misguided. Baja hasn’t aged particularly well, but it’s far from bad and there’s still some fun to be had taking to the track. You just have to question why this remaster even exists.

No. But I will tell you, if you're any degree of an off road racing fan, to date it hasn't been done better than this. I give this game an 8 because it is not without faults, but the sheer size of the maps and the challenge puts this game in a category of it's own. Physics are spot on. Gfx who cares, I'm sure the HD redux hasn't really change much. I used to play this game on the Xbox 360 and only wished more people played it. If you like off road racing, don't over look this one or you're missing out. Full Review »
