Yes, even with all the visual improvements the original age is evident. But in an age, where every racing game wants to show off its realism, this arcade racer from a past rich with competition, where it was nothing but an insiders’ tip, is a welcome addition to your library, not least because of the four player splitscreen.

Baja: Edge of Control HD isn’t going to blow anyone away, but for racing game fans after some cheap off-road thrills it’s certainly worth considering. It’s got a decent rock-heavy soundtrack and its races are often full of thrills and spills, keeping you moderately entertained for well over 20 hours or so.

Baja: Edge of Control is anything but special, but at $29.99 it is hard to fault it too much. I had fun. I love off-road racing games and this one just scratched that itch. The track diversity is nice, I just wish it didn’t turn into such a grind as the game went on.

BAJA: Edge of Control HD offers a different bet to the players who enjoy driving games by offering a category rarely used in video games. We have to mention its great duration because if the game gets you caught, it will keep you glued to the control for many hours, as this is the biggest and almost unique incentive that the game enjoys.

Overall, and whilst Baja: Edge of Control HD isn’t anywhere near close to the “Forza-for-off-road fans” experience that many gamers have been clamouring for, there are still plenty of improvements to be found with a title that was overly disappointing on its initial release back in 2008.

Making a remaster of this game is nonsense. BAJA Edge of Control HD doesn’t offer a quality work on its technical side, it only shows a slightly improvement on resolution on a game that doesn’t accomplish what we remind of the original one.

The vehicle handling is very fun and challenging, and there's a bunch of moving parts during races such as the damage and sponsorship mechanics. Driving as fast as you can might cost you time in a pit stop, and ramming opponents might make you lose out on a chunk sponsorship money. They need to be factored in to your driving style and it's something that was very nice after playing a bunch of games that focus solely on finishing first. There's tons of content and things to do besides the career like invitational events or play split-screen with friends, a feature that could benefit so many other racing games like wreckfest or the upcoming forza motorsport game. Overall I absolutely recommend the game especially because it's like $30, nothing mind blowing but also no big disappointments which is more than you can say for any recent AAA racing game. 8.5/10 Expand

This arcade racer has really good gameplay. The way the car handles and rides along the track just feels really good.
