The comments made here by these folks are very unfair. This is a cool game. It has an interesting environment. You'll have many hours of fun! Guaranteed.

I haven't played a game I disliked this much in a while. While AV2 shines quite a bit in presentation, mechanically it's a desert in terms of fun and really seems to miss its own genre. Once more a cool unique take on the metroidvania genre. I did a 100% playthrough.

Absolutely adore this game! It has great graphics and amazing story, would recommend, its one of the best metroidvanias of recent memory!

Very good sequel. There is a mystery as well as atmosphere from the previous title but it's slower this time - game gets weirder and more mysterious with every hour you play. The gameplay and mechanics are more refined.

If you loved the first game for the story - you'll love this one as well (probably even more).

    Only cons:
    - Too easy
    - Could use more bosses
    - No multiple endings???

It lost all the atmosphere, mystery, character and combat difficulty of the original masterpiece, and offered very little in return. Still very good metroidvania, but very disappointing for a fan of the original.

Thomas Happ has done it again. The first Axiom Verge game is an all-time favorite of mine, so I wasn’t quite sure how the sequel would live up to that standard. But boy howdy, does it deliver. The DNA of the original game is intact, but the sequel offers creative and surprising takes on an already fantastic formula. This is a serious GOTY contender. Do not miss this, and play the first Axiom Verge if you haven’t already! Expand

The games has great music, controls and its own visual flair, Thomas App once again created a world that is inviting to explore... Maybe next time make an "explorer" mode for those who want to uncover the map without too much challenge and create a well balanced main experience for those who like a mid-tier challenge (like the first game by example)... or give serious rewards for defeating the bosses (they are not bosses if you can just walk by them).

I'm very disappointed, because I loved the first game and I am only just lukewarm about this one.

There are many steps forward, and some small half-steps back, and while Axiom Verge 2 is certainly worth your time, it was on the verge of being something even greater, and just couldn’t quite get there.

Axiom Verge 2 is a stellar follow-up to one of the original indie Metroid-inspired titles. It is worth checking out even if players haven’t dove into the first game. Also you should totally play both games. They are some of the best in the indie genre. I can’t wait until the game drops on Xbox as well so all platforms have a chance to experience such an amazing experience.

Axiom Verge 2 is a great game with undeniable flaws. The combat lacks focus regardless of what kind of player you are. Still, exploration manages to be enjoyable and engaging. This game is catered for Metroid fans. Anybody else might have a difficult time embracing its charm. At the end of the day, though, Axiom Verge 2 is a delightful time, deserving notable acclaim and overall success.
