We already had the good feeling during our preview session two months ago, and it is now a truth : Asterix & Obelix Slap them All! is indeed the little nugget that Microids and Mr Nutz Studio have promised us. Mind-blowingly beautiful (and regardless of the medium chosen, no downgrade, even on Nintendo Switch), the game also enjoys solid gameplay with a hint of strategy quite unexpected.

A competent 2D brawler with excellent graphics straight out of the comic books and satisfactory action and gameplay.

One thing is certain, this beat'em up is the fruit of the work of true enthusiasts and it can be felt in the game.

We’ve really appreciated the return of Goscinny & Uderzo’s creature in videogame with this Asterix & Obelix Slap Them All. Choosing an arcade beat’em up was a fitting idea, and the decision to merge it with an exquisite hand-drawn graphic was the best way to start a new beginning for Asterix in modern gaming. However, the game reuses too much assets throughout the adventure and it's victim of its own repetitiveness, which prevents him to reach higher scores. Perhaps the masterpiece is not on sight, but the Gauls have taken the right road to reach it.

A game of contrasts. If you look at it as a tribute to the Uderzo and Goscinny comics, it has a lot of charm; If you look at it as beat'em up, it looks like a Gaul who forgot to drink the magic potion before messing with a Roman.

Simple, but effective. Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is the perfect option to play in company thanks to its cooperative mode and have fun with friends or family. Its shortcomings, such as a repetitive development, are solved by having someone next to enjoy the experience and deliver cookies to the Romans. In addition, at a technical level, the work done by its creators is exquisite, and we will feel that we are inside a comic book that has come to life.

Slap Them All is by no means perfect. It's shallow, even by genre standards, lacks the all-but mandatory four-player option, has been balanced for two players to the point that it doesn't really work as a single-player game, and fails to give players any reason to give it a second go once powered through. And yet at the same time, it is the best use of the beloved Asterix & Obelix property that we have seen in years and for us long-suffering Asterix & Obelix fans, for that reason alone Slap Them All is a gift.

Asterix and Obelix Slap'em All is a charming beat'em all which still lacks of depth too keep the enjoyment on the long run. Despite its gorgeous look and animation, the repetitiveness of the 50 levels and simple gameplay aim for a young audience more than the average street fighter.

A not-so-exciting scrolling beat-em-up, due to repetitive levels and poorly honed game mechanics. The beautiful graphic setting and local multiplayer raise it from total lack of interest.

Asterix and Obelix: Slap Them All is a pleasure to watch, not as much to play. The main problem of the title developed by Mr. Nutz Studio is a too simple gameplay, repeated without any changes level after level. Excellent graphics, whose main limitation is the constant reuse of the same assets.

Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! is best suited for younger players and casual audience. Everyone else will probably find the game extremely boring.

A nice tribute to the comics, but the gameplay remains too light and repetitive to keep us interested until the end.

Fun for a while, but incredibly limited and repetitive, Slap Them All is a beat ‘em up that could and should have been much better.

Not the best beat 'em up game you can play but it is still a right choice if you are a big fan of Asterix & Obelix.

The structure of the stages is similar and the diversity of the enemies you encounter is pretty low. That being said the two characters have fun and individualized moves in a game that looks absolutely gorgeous. The adventure takes about 5 hours to complete. So if you are a fan of the genre you should have fun playing it online or with a friend by your side. Full Review »

However the game is very loyal to the comics, meaning the characters, art style, humour, story and pretty much everything. The music is incredible by the way. All in all they should have given it more time and fix some things and then it would really be enjoyable for everybody. I am giving it an 8 only for nostalgic reasons.
