The one downside to a gorgeous, fast-paced whirlwind of constant activity is that there's not much of a story to go along with it. I don't know about you, but when the end result is as much fun as Assault Android Cactus, that's a trade-off I have no problem making.

This is easily one of the best twin stick shooters I’ve played in years.

Assault Android Cactus manages to vault beyond its classical inspiration to manifest as a genre effort that expertly marries deep mastery with instantly accessible simplicity. Furthermore, here’s another bit of simplicity for you; Assault Android Cactus is simply one of the best twin-stick shooters ever made.

With a core gameplay loop that is this utterly intoxicating, it's hard not to love AAC. It's an addictive and elegant score-chaser that has the power to bring newcomers into the shmup genre, as well as the legs and tail to truly satisfy shmup veterans.

Even with that ridiculous level of challenge aside, every chunk of Assault Android Cactus feels like it's almost more than I can do, and it feels great to overcome the challenges Witch Beam threw my way. For those who think they're up for the task, this one comes highly recommended.

Undoubtedly Assault Android Cactus is a must for any dual stick shooter lover. It's fresh, frantic, challenging, creative, full of replayability and well designed, one of the best games in its genre among contemporary indie games.

It's great to see developers continue to pour their best effort into twin-stick shooters, even if the concept seems dated compared to other genres. Assault Android Cactus is a quality entry in the genre, filled with personality, excitement and creativity. The amount of characters available is impressive; the co-op factor is insane but fun; and the gameplay doesn't stop when it comes to challenging your high-scoring skills.

Assault Android Cactus is a solid, memorable twin stick shooter. It has mechanics in place that make it accessible and fun for all. Its visuals and story unfortunately though, leave a lot to be desired.

This is a twin-stick shooter that adds complexity and depth to a genre that typically has no use for either.

Android Assault Cactus is a complete blast. While a lengthier campaign would've made it even better, there's still a ton of fun to be had in this quirky shooter.

There’s replayability in the different modes like Daily Drive, Infinity Drive, and Boss Rush for those that like to buckle down and test their skills to get top scores on leaderboards. There’s the campaign, which has an interesting story with different dialogue per character. There’s extra stuff to buy with credits (earned by your scores per level) like game altering fun features, or concept art and codex entries to further learn about the characters and enemies.

Assault Android Cactus is a very well-polished, entertaining arcade twin-stick shooter. Its only prickles come in the form of some poor level design, occasional difficulty spikes, and a little too much repetition. If you cast these issues aside, what you're left with is a short but sweet experience that's perfect for some competitive couch co-op with your friends.

A fantastic little twin stick shooter, that is well designed, full of character and has some good variation. The characters you play as feel unique and varied as well as the enemies you face. Boss battles mix gameplay up and offer some challenging moments. I appreciated the extra modes and ranking at the end of each stage.

I played demo of PC version first and was super excited for this game to come out on PS4. Game offers dynamic twin-stick shooter gameplay with tons of enemies appearing on screen, accompanied with superb soundtrack. Every android has unique weapons and character, some of them are unlockable by beating bosses. Story is simple but interesting to follow, spiced up with funny situations and dialogues. Game also offers infinite waves mode and up to 4 players couch co-op (online play is not included). There is also some unlockables to keep you busy, if you into such things. I quite pleased with this game overall and recommend it to anyone who love dynamic twin-stick shooter gameplay and cute characters.
