If you've played these games already, then there's no point of buying them again, they don't even look better (except for 1080p 30 fps - why not 60, by the way?)

If you've never played any game of the collection, then buy it. They're really good. Though I'd wait for it to drop to 30 bucks or so.

Simply, it's f*cking Ezio Auditore da Firenze. One of the best things that has happened to the AC franchise and to Ubisoft and it's been brought to the new generation of consoles. That for some may not be enough, however it's enough for me and yes, I know "I just payed 50 dollars to the mighty evil of the gaming industry and I don't deserve to live, blah, blah blah." You know what? It's my money and I can do whatever the f*ck I want. :-)

To end this, I'd just say.. Now it's up to you, EA, please, don't act like you don't want easy money from remasters and just remaster that Mass Effect trilogy ASAP!

I'm loving this I have to say. I've already played and completed them on the 360 so to play them again and for them to feel like brand new games is special. Apart from the cutscenes which haven't been touched up enought this remake looks great on the ps4. It plays amazing too and all 3 games on 1 disc.....perfect ). Wish return to arkham had managed that!

After Unity I thought it was just an anomaly but now I can see it's starting to become a trend. Despite Assassin's Creed II being the best game in the series bar-none, it doesn't escape this sketchy remaster's myriad of issues. The game is streamlined and focused enough to escape most of the trouble, but Brotherhood and Revelations suffer from game-breaking issues such as missions being broken and unable to be completed, weapons failing to work properly, the camera refusing to cooperate, animations locking up, and the game occasionally just straight-up crashing. If you already played the originals, there's no reason to get this version. You won't even be able to tell the differences between resolutions unless you got a side-by-side comparison or when the faces inevitably break. Expand

The story is decent but the controls are some of the worst in any game I've ever played. It's particularly painful after playing AC Origins. Your character keeps constantly clinging onto surfaces you don't want to grab, and jumping in directions you don't want to jump. It's infuriating!

Ubisoft could have fixed the godawful controls and release an improved version of the trilogy, but

Ubisoft could have fixed the godawful controls and release an improved version of the trilogy, but instead they just dumped the games on one disc and called it a day. If you're new to the series like me and you want to experience the story from the beginning, be aware that it's going to be very unpleasant.

With the failure of the hyped Unity as the game was flooded with bugs, a monotonous pain the ass of a story, unlikable protagonist, and an uninteresting setting. Syndicate was the after child of Unity with it improving the visual aspect of the game, a more interesting setting, 2 likable characters( Evie being my favorite ), a improved stealth mechanics, and a far better payoff than Unity, but due to the failure of Unity, the attention span of the franchise faltered and sales for Syndicate were in the all time low. Now Ubisoft is taking a year off of making a new Assassin's Creed game to re-examine the franchise to better in the future. For the time being, Ubisoft released the Ezio trilogy to satisfy the hunger for fans at the time-being. So is reliving the memories of Ezio worth it or did it scatter into the abyss into a faded memory?
NOTE: I'll be doing this review differently since I bet most people played at least one or all of the Ezio trilogy, being the first one came out in 09 and the rest came out a year after.

Story- If you played the Ezio trilogy before it came out as a remastered, then you know the gist. If you haven't, it's a fairly simple revenge story, taking down the power house story, and finding relic story. What makes the game narrative great to play though is the main character Ezio. He is one of Ubisoft best well written characters in the whole franchise as he was first a brash teenager turned into a wise Assassin mentor throughout his life-time.

Gameplay- The gameplay still fair the same as the 6th generation version but after playing Blackflag and Syndicate, you can tell how much the series evolved its game as it was fluid. The Ezio trilogy isn't as fluid as I remember because the free running isn't connecting well. It's still a great joy to play, especially in Revelations.

Graphics- The trilogy has been optimized in increase of resolution up to 1080p and increase in texture. They look "alright" but Assassin's Creed 2 really did not age well, compared to Uncharted Drakes Fortune remastered, Don't expect the trilogy to look like Blackflag or the newer titles in the franchise.

The trilogy is worth at buy after a price drop under 40 dollars. At 60, it is asking a bit much since I could just buy the other trilogy version for ps3 under a better price and still get the same experience. for under 30 dollars but with less of a better quality.

The first Assassin's Creed (AC) game I played was the AC IV Black Flag, on PS3. Of course I knew the franchise before that but it had never appealed to me. Black Flag had something different that caught my attention and made me want to play. And I really liked it.

Many years later, I became a fan of the whole franchise. I've played all titles since then and I just didn't like AC Odyssey, for several reasons. However, there were still games to play released before the Black Flag. And that's what I tried to do last year.

I took AC III (PS4) to play in 2019. Although I liked the place and the age where it takes place (American Independence), the game has an unbelievable number of fails. The game that I had the most problems playing in my entire life so far had been The Witcher 3. The amount of bugs made me miss some missions (I have a video showing a side quest that I couldn't complete due to a bug). But The Witcher is excellent, even with the problems. I could not speak the same for AC III. It overcame The Witcher 3 in bugs by far. But a lot them, really!

And why am I quoting AC III or The Witcher 3, games that I had problems with bugs, in an analysis of AC II? Well, it's because I can't play AC II due to the massive amount of problems. I bought the Ezio Collection (PS4) two months ago in a great PSN's Flash Sale. And yesterday, I tried to start AC II. I'm giving up now that I'm writing this review.

For many years, I have heard many fans of the series saying that this is the best game in the series. I always thought it was an overrated opinion and today, I have no doubt that they say that because of nostalgia. The game is worst by far from Black Flag, Rogue, Unity, Syndicate or the great Origins. It's very weak, really bad. The plot is interesting but its mechanics are so fail, but so fail that it becomes unplayable many times.

Gameplay like fighting, climbing or jumping are completely randomickly. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. And for no apparent reason not to work. NPCs appear out of nowhere, much worse than I faced in Unity. Enemies appear and disappear from the minimap and in front of you during the game. More than once, I failed the mission "Judge, Jury, Executioner" simply because enemies appeared and disappeared from the minimap and even in front of me, in a mission that you cannot be identified, you have to play in stealth mode.

My last straw to quit the game came on the "Arrivederci" mission, in which I was supposed to escort Ezio's mother and brother. At the end of the mission, I must protect them from attack by enemies. The gameplay just didn't work. The mission failed several times because my character commands didn't work and the worse thing, the few times they "worked", it still hit Ezio's sister whom I was supposed to protect.

Anyway, the frightening amount of bugs made AC II the game with the most bugs I have ever played in my whole life (surpassing AC III and The Witcher 3), without even being close to the quality of The Witcher or even the possibility of overcoming the bugs like in AC III. A horrible experience that just didn't make me ask for the money back because PSN doesn't accept it after winning the first trophy.

Expand

So if you've never played the Ezio games before the AC games took a little turn for the worse, then honestly, this is worth your money. However, it'll make you sad as these are actually the best games in the series, and it sucks to see that Ubisoft has taken such a beautiful series down a couple notches in terms of story quality. Though dated, as the gameplay of these games may be, the story is still just as beautiful as I remember it.

Having the ability to play arguably three of the best games in the Assassin’s Creed universe on a current generation console is brilliant, although don’t expect much of a significant impact in terms of upgrades for gameplay or visuals. Improved upon? Yes. Reinvented and completely remastered? Not really. Still worth the money, though.
