Anthem is a good game. It needs work and since it is a 'live service game', it should get better over time. Was it released in a perfect state? No. but I have been playing about 30 hours and am having a great time. I have bought plenty of games where I spent nearly as much and didn't get that much play time.

I'm enjoying the game as are a lot of my friends, not too glitchy for me, decent story ,fluid gameplay and plenty to do. Not sure where all the negativity is coming from to be honest.

The game is super fun and I would hope people and all the YT "celebrities" would find some other kid to beat up so this game can gather a player base it deserves as now most people don't want to touch it because of all the hate it gets. Really disappointed in the gaming community right now. Expand

Very interesting lore, GREAT TO NOT SAY AWESOME mechanics. WONDERFUL VISUALS. This is a game with story. I really got immersive in this one. I really have no idea on how this game got so much hate. Looks like almost some sort of conspiracy against it. This game deserves even from the most skeptic and grumpy gamers a big 9!

By no means is this a perfect game. This has many issues, I mean like so many problems wrong with it. I loved Too Human and it had a similar problem. Promises that were made but never delivered, but I respect Bioware for still trying even with all this backlash. I mean they can't win. Anthem is quite a unique game, its absolutely visually stunning and actually pretty fun to play. The problem with it is I just don't want to play it. I don't give a single care at all about the story and once I put it down and stopped playing for the day, I just haven't had the gumption to pick it back up, thats 2 weeks now...

Anthem is a shared-world action-RPG in which players delve into a vast world teeming with amazing technology and forgotten treasures. The world is also filled with savage beasts and ruthless marauders where Freelancers are called to defeat the forces plotting to conquer humanity

O gameplay está muito divertido, o futuro do jogo parece promissor. Apesar das políticas controversas da EA, a Bioware consegue me deixa otimista quanto ao futuro do jogo. Tomara que um dia ela consiga se livrar da EA.

Bought this game June 2019, I played through the whole campaign and all of the strongholds. Missions all feel largely the same and uncreative. I would say that the game crashed back to the opening screen approximately 50% of the time after mission end leading to even longer load times to get back in than they already are. The story is uninteresting generic sci-fi loaded with overt and subliminal SJW propaganda (like most EA games) which you may or may not enjoy. I never felt the desire to customize my character at all after the initial build. The guns are generic as well, I found the LMG to be the only useful one. The character voice acting is good but it's hard to care about any of it and the choices made in the conversations do not seem to greatly impact anything. It is unclear what the motivation is to continue playing this after the credits role. It was a chore just to get that far. Expand

And I gotta say it's quite sexist against men. But what I wanted was basically Warframe but better, and that I feel I have gotten. And with that said I'd like to point out the positive: the traversal part of the game is the best ever in a game. They auto-correct flight, auto-correct landing, every detail and polish in that part is beyond incredibly done! And the feeling of getting something great is amazing and really jumps up your strength. The environments, even not very varied, are amazing and believable. For now, it won't sustain your attention for longer than a few tens of hours, but if they keep going at it there's such a strong base that it has the potential to become of the best looter-shooters out there. Learning the culture and history of this new IP is very interesting. Several memorable characters-- my favorites so far are the gossiping Neeson, and the Arcanist Matthias.

Freeplay mode is decent, world events spawn as you fly over or near, adding to the sense that you are on patrol and responding to emergent threats. But, unless you are pre-grouped with friends, you feel disconnected to the other three players in the shared space.

    Visually stunning game world.

Planned future content is a boon here, as we are just in the beginning of Act one of three announced. I look forward to what the future holds for acts two and three (presumably covering at least year 1 of Anthem), and hope EA/Bioware give Anthem time grow.

However, as noted by others: solo story and group play don't mesh well here:load screens are annoying; and loot could use a fix (which is pending).

I'd suggest giving this game a try, it has flaws, but also strengths. Given time, Anthem can become a very solid title and franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Anthem shows a lot of promise, but as it stand now (1 week out of launch), it's trying to use it great gameplay to hold up the other aspects that are lacking, such as mission/enemy variety and subdued narrative. The novelty will wear off and most players will be left with an empty game with untapped potential. This makes the support planned for the title all the more important. A variety of quality-of-life fixes, mission variety to encourage recurring players to keep completing challenges, and a strong, consistent dose of narrative expansions to keep the world front and center and not behind "codex" entries. This will ensure a strong and passionate community to capitalize on what Destiny was struggling with. This gameplay and this idea should not be squandered, because once things click, its a fulfilling and intense experience, and if the loot and lore reflects that gameplay, Bioware will have something truly special Expand

The demo was no demo but a beta, they were tons of bugs, load times, crashes (the story about the PS4 crashing is simply not acceptable). Yes they probably launch this game too soon especially for hard core gamers. But again I did not had those or simply said I do not play enough to be bothered about it.. - Graphics, just state of the art not more (seen better on PS4)
    - A lot of bugs and crashes (still not fixed!) - The iron-man like fly is very funny and is very cool - Loading time is okay when you have an SSD installed in PS4, otherwise it is a joke - Fighting/Shooting compared to Destiny 2 feels not so well - Menus straight out of hell Currently I’d recommend

Currently I’d recommend to spend your money for one of the many other coop shooter.

First of all, I was about to just skip Anthem, because of the bad critics. However, a friend came up with the idea to play it as squad of 4, team of friends. We played other looter shooter or coop games in general in our 4 men static party. So we bought Anthem for 20 Bucks on PS4. So we were about “just let’s have some fun.”.
And we tried to have it, but the point is that the game is still not finished, it is full of bugs and unstable. There was nearly no session where not one of us had a game crash or stuck in loading screen. Sometimes one of us was not able to join the squad. It happens several times that the “connection to server was lost” during some kind of boss fight. Funny thing, it happened 3 times at the same boss.
We don’t care for the story, looter shooter… the game tries to tell an epic story, but it isn’t at all. It is annoying to run from npc to npc in town just to get ready for the next mission. They should replace the town for a text-based menu.
Menu, next point. I don’t like the menu in this game. It is too bulky, slow, never had issues with menus in games, but this is just annoying.
We played it for about 30 hours. And we stopped for another, real AAA Looter Shooter.

This game has potential. The games graphics are good and the shooting is solid. It is a bummer the game is broken, and repetitive. The looting is also broken. If you have friends to play with it is much more enjoyable. I think it will get better with time. I recommend you get it if it goes on a sale for anything less than $35.
