Anthem is a solid concept misunderstood by alot of people. The problem I see most is people constantly comparing it to other games, "its not like mass effect" because it isn't, would be like me saying last remnant is bad because it isn't final fantasy. "There's not as many guns as warframe" its been out for a few days, it took 5 years for warframe to build up its current catalogue of weapons, you think it had that many on launch? My favourite is the complaints about dialogue options not impacting the story, thats because its a mmo, changing the outcome of events would lead to different mission choices, so if i chose a path different from my friend, we'd end up with different missions and could not play them together, Bioware cleverly kept the dialogue options there for us to have some kind of interaction with the NPCs but tied it to bonus faction exp depending on your choice. I guess what im trying to say is that Anthem is its own game and a player should enter it with that in mind.

Its a fantasic experience that my friends and myself are having a great time playing

I never felt like I was waiting long to get back in the action. The NPC's at the Hub are entertaining, though movement speed is still a bit slow there (though much quicker than in the beta).

In those 10 hours, I did have one crash, and one server disconnect, so hopefully stability is improved going forward (though I should mention that when I reloaded the game, I was able to rejoin the previous session instantly, and picked up right where I left off).

Overall, I look forward to seeing what this game grows into, as it has potential to be a solid ten.

This is an awful game and EA and Bioware knows it. The game feels unfinished, trashy, and is a bore to play. It just feels like a Destiny or Warframe clone with no passion or direction.

This game really deserves a chance. In normal situations, I would give a score based on facts, a fair score. But this is not the case. I'm giving 10 to help the game and its developers. Strong alone, stronger together !!!!

I'm not going to list the bugs present in the game because I'm fairly certain I'd hit the max character limit (I'm being serious), so I'll just say a few words about core game mechanics and gameplay. The gameplay is something quite new, that on top of beautiful graphics is definitely making a great impression, and that's as far as the positive aspects go. The first impression goes away within 10h, so you're left dealing with game that has a TONS of loading screens, short, shallow story, small map that's mostly empty, THREE STRONGHOLDS ("endgame"), uninteresting loot, and almost no armors. All you do is play with colors - that's pretty much as far as customization goes. Weapons are uninteresting, all feel the same. There's literally a handful of weapons and all that changes is their rarity and level. As far as I can see 3x weapons of each type, and there's like 6 or 7 types. Stupid and completely ridiculous design choices that are worse than all mistakes looter-shooter games in the past did (Destiny, Division). Question comes to mind what in the hell did they do for SEVEN YEARS!? You put in 10h, 20h max and you're done. You've seen it all, there's nothing more. Anthem is a strong contender for the worst game of 2019 and I'm pretty sure it will take the crown at the end of the year. I'm not even hating, I really had high hopes, and I really, really tried to like this game. I wanted this to be successful but it won't be, bugs aside - this game's core is so broken it's beyond repair. You had one chance bioware. Literally every single decision in this game screams incompetence. I'm officially done with bioware products. If you're still thinking of buying this, wait a bit, it gonna hit the lowest shelves with half price slapped on it sooner than Fallout 76. Expand

Fun game - i've played it for about 10 hours and am really enjoying myself. I'm a Destiny fan and like that another game has jumped into the arena. Flying is fun, the map is great, the missions are satisfying. I don't know if it'll keep it's audience in the long run like Destiny has but for now, i'm really impressed and excited to continue playing.

The graphics in this game are phenomenal some of the best I’ve seen on PS4 pro. The flying is extremely satisfying, the gunplay and general javelin play is also great, they nailed the aspect of each javelin playing and feeling completely different. I’ve put about 30 hours into this game on PS4 pro and have crashed 3 times. Which isn’t a big deal to me because even after those crashes I still want to play the game and see where the story goes. The story is the most “meh” part of the game to me, it throws a couple curve balls and plot twists that make it interesting if you’ve been paying attention to what’s going on which is pretty good at times and boring at worst. Facial animations are top notch. The game is a live service, if you like looter shooters flying around with friends blowing up enemies with cool ass abilities and are willing to stay for the long haul, which I know the game will become even better with future updates and roadmap already laid out. Don’t listen to the fools who gripe about the occasional bug and load times. If you can look pass that. You’ll be in for a very fun time.

The only big complaint I do have is armor. It doesn’t drop. From what I can tell you can only buy it with coins you get from completing challenges and missions or with shards (in game currency) which I’m hoping they fix soon to allow armor drops even if it was from like impossible bosses and mission or challenges.

Game incomplete released. Missing end-game content. All missions are very similar. Very poor customization. Constant disconnections. Lots of bugs. Frame Drops in areas with many enemies is recurring and annoying. But the worst is that the game sold at full price is still full of micro-transactions. I do not buy an EA game again.

Sometimes I could get back in after several attempts and minutes, and sometimes I could not. Sometimes I kept loot and sometimes not. I stopped playing after it completely shut down my PS4 and I had to run through the diagnostics to start it up again. I can't risk mt PS4 dying because of the errors and build of this game.

Flying is fun, exploring new world is fun but not enough to overcome major issues
    1. technical errors/ problems
    2. mapping - where are events? where are team members? How do I know someone is down and needs to be revived? When I need to be revived all I can do is just sit there with no hope of coming back without revive and can't see anything except my downed prospective. Can't crawl towards a safe place to revive. Can't see through my team mates eyes, etc.
    3. I pick up a weapon and can't use it until getting through several loading screens and back to fort? Fat chance of me getting through those without getting kicked.
( I understand not being able to use armor pieces immediately, but guns? That I am obviously holding because I bring back to the fort? WHAT??!!?!!)
    4. very repetitive. I felt I was completing same mission over and over. kill, defend and fetch. over. and over. and over. I waited years for this game. It is not the game promised and hyped.

I am done with pre-ordering. I did it with Fallout and said never again for Bethesda, and now Anthem has finally got me to say no more to any game.

It’s certainly not the second coming of Mass Effect 2, but it’s addictive.

Pros: it’s an Iron Man simulator. All four javelins have vastly different play styles. Only the ranger feels like a “shooter” style game. Story was great. Certainly has the BioWare quality cast of characters. Looter mechanics are much more similar to Diablo than Destiny. Flight mechanics have been nailed.

Don't expect a rich story or deep characters, expect fun content and good visuals. My rating of a six is based largely on the fact that I found this game to be next to unplayable on Xbox One. I upgraded to an Xbox One X and the experience is much better. I full expect there to be some future support for Anthem, the 'games as a service' model has worked very well for Ubi and I think we will see EA on that bandwagon as well with this title. Expand

It seems that when they were acquired by Electronics Arts; many of their games have had trouble, due to EA’s thirst for monetization and demand for deadlines. EA is killing games and BioWare is one of their victims.

I buy my games, I do not rely on developers codes and I do not get paid to review games. For me, if a game is not fun, it is not a good game. If a game is unfinished, it is not a good game. If the game is a grind, it is not a good game.

I play games for entertainment and I am not beholden to being blacklisted if I give a bad review so here it goes.

The graphics of this game are a bag of mixed nuts. Some areas are simply beautiful, some areas are full of pop-ins, and for the most part, after the first hour I was frustrated. Additionally the loading screens are horrendous. Finally I found myself getting dizzy.

This game is unfinished with boring missions, boring and some unnecessary NPC who for some reason want to tell you their life stories. The enemies and basically the same and the main villain is treated poorly.

I want to go on, but simply put, I cannot get my money back so I am left with reselling the game or trade it in, which is a shame since again, BioWare did not deliver on its promise.

I end with one question: Why BioWare, why have you given us another vanilla shooter?

And unlike a lot of co-op games, we're not leaving each other behind by playing alone--everything scales and we can join each other's missions and freeplay sessions and help each other out. It is a glaring omission that there are no non-voice communication options beyond a couple of emotes--but BW has already made updates that *have improved* the game (being on PS4 w/out early access, I'm seeing a huge improvement from the Demo weekends to release and am really encouraged by the improvements). Is it a finished game? Probably not, but it has so much potential, and wasn't Destiny a disappointment when it first released too? And you have to pay out the ass for every xpack. This doesn't seem to be the case with Anthem... you can choose to get vanity items or not and it doesn't detract from the gameplay. My big fear is that they'll give up on this game like they did Andromeda--which was also hugely improved after release, and knowing no single player xpacks were coming for that just sucked my motivation out of wanting to finish it. Anthem's combat and mechanics are a lot of fun to play, co-op has a lot of potential (contextual communication wheel ala Fortnite maybe?) and I've even had a good time teaming up with rando's to defeat Titans in freeplay. I'm not giving up on it. Expand

You can craft the heck out of your gear to build your perfect symbioses for your weapons/playstile.
Same goes for your javelin. You can make your Javelin nearly uniqe with dozens of materials, colours, gears etc. I never saw 2 Javelins in the same Sqaud that looked exactly the same.
Also the dialogues are mostly very good. It has not the depth of a Mass Effect/ Dragon Age but thats ok. Nevertheless, you can talk to many of the resident in Fort Tarsis an advise them with diffrent things. Sometimes the Fort will change a bit.
The dialogues within in the Missons/Contracts are very nice to and they are able to keep the tension high in many situations.

I don´t know what´s the problem for so many people.

This game is exactly as advertised.

It get compares a lot to Destiny or Warframe....but to what version of that games? At launch, Destiny had not very much content (but many broken promisses (smaller maps as promissed, 3 strikes at start) but it changed over the months with the live-service. Same for Warframe. You compare a new game wich just startet with other games that had time over years to evolve an become what they are now. In the beginning, they where more or less at the same state, they where ok but had much space to evolve, and they did.

Please guys, remember, this is just the beginning. Let it evolve.

btw. sorry for my bad english :P

Oh, nd one more thing. I am not a "EA-Fanboy" or something. I dont like that company very much and try to avoid it. But this doesnt change the fact for me, that this is a great game.

I'll compare the game with destiny 2:

    1) Gameplay: Anthem > Destiny 2 because in Anthem you can use your abilities more often. Combat is more dynamic, user has to decide more often which ability is used when on which enemy. Destiny 2 feels like a boring shooter compared to Anthem. Anthem has no PvP so the game is not balanced around a stupid PvP mode. Its just designed as a great PvE game.

    2) Story: Anthem > Destiny 2. Both game's stories are standard: Something powerful (traveleranthem) is there, 2 fractions want to use its powers. But: Destiny story presentation is just bad. Anthem has many (skip able) dialogs, nice cut scenes and the story makes a bit more sense to me.

    3) Graphics: Anthem > Destiny 2. Well, ... its just as it is.

I don't think that Anthem is a masterpiece. Its a solid game. Any player who likes destiny 2 PvE should try Anthem. Players who don't like the looter-shooter-genre: just don't buy anthem (or destiny 2).

Destiny 2 was a boring game without any endgame content because the whole content was too easy. You don't need any high level gear for anything. Strikes are not a challenge at all. And the raids are just boring because it's all about learning mechanics, not about skill, timing,...! But destiny was ..."ok".

Anthem is a great PvE experience for those, who like Warframe, Destiny 2 and similar games.

If you like PvP: Don't buy anthem!

About loading times: I have a normal Ps4Pro with the standard HDD using day1 patch. Loading times are pretty short. Got many other games with longer loading times (Destiny 2 for example...!)

I buyed Anthem knowing that this would be a game that gets some live development and that needs a frequent userbase so the creators can learn, fix and adjust things.

The best thing in Anthem is how they make you feel you're wearing a Javelin by yourself. Just as good as Spider-Man made you feel you were slinging the webs by yourself, the DualShock4 transforms a very good feeling when you start flying around and everything else you do while being in your Javelin.
