This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Anthem has been one of the best games I have played in a while. It reminds me of another game, in a suit and fighting on desolate planet. The story is very exciting to be able to play alone or with a group. The graphics are very good and help carry the ow of the storyline. Expand

I don't know why it is having so much hate this game.I played it now for 30+ hrs and i enjoying it.It is having aome technical issues on the base PS4,but besides that it is fun shooter. The story is also interesting with plot twists.I think it deserves better score but that's only me thinking that.

Despite its flaws, there's a good game at its core. It's a fun and beautiful game. The combat is solid and engaging, the landscapes are breathtaking and fun to explore. The only downside is the lack of endgame content, but hopefully anthem next (the planned rework update) can fix that.

Best gunplay of its generation, the only downside is the story isn’t stellar which is a shame for a bioware game, and the reason it doesn’t rate a full 10 for me

If you aren't lagging, the game feels smooth for me, but to be honest I don't really care much for graphics unless they are total crap. All in all, due to the markdown of the game's prices, go ahead and give it a chance. I would buy it actually for USD 4 more. Expand

I don't understand why players are rating this game so poorly. I thoroughly enjoyed the game. So much so that I pursued the platinum. Maybe it's because I'm predominantly a RPG player. Anthem was great for me, the graphics, the story, the voice acting, the actors, the game mechanics etc. The only annoying bit was the loading times, but even so it was not unbearable.

Would be tempted to give this a 9 since the dialogue can be tiresome and feels like too much story (for my taste) - that said you can easily skip that stuff and the controls and gameplay are intuitive and really good fun. The weapons are futuristic but it feels like you're firing bullets rather than laser bolts or whatever, and flying around in the javelins adds a layer.

The crap reviews it has gotten are a travesty so I'm giving it a 10 - I can only assume that it has been patched in a way that fundamentally altered the game or else the whole thing must be rigged because it's easily my game of the year for 2019.

Currently the game does not deserve a 10, it is a 7-8 game sincerely.
There are some technical errors, but I have not suffered any. I would rate as positive: -The gameplay is very very good. When you are flying or fighting is very frenzied while the game is very smooth. Gameplay of 10.

It's a pity they did not wait to get it out when fully developed. When it came out it could have been a very developed beta. Right now the game sinks content endgame in addition to failures in the loot system that would have been solved if they had tested it before.

The most positive thing is that EA is listening attentively to the community and they are adding big patches every so often.
It is a very ambitious project to abandon it so I am sure that in a short time we will be facing a huge game.

The graphics are amazing and the environment is one of the best I have ever seen this generation. Freely exploring this world in your own iron man type suit is absolutely amazing. Character models look good and the voice acting is on point, though I found myself not caring about the story at all. The loading times are obnoxiously long at times, and the customization of your javelin (appearance) is weak. Their are virtually no new helmets or other parts besides one or two. I was hoping for more customization besides simply changing colors. Missions can feel repetitive and fighting the same enemies over and over again can get boring. But I fought the same enemies over and over again in games like Zelda Breath of The Wild, Destiny 1 & 2, The Division, Far Cry, etc., so no big deal I suppose. Drops feel fine to me after the latest patch but prior they were weak. My biggest complaint is fire and getting hit by nothing. I will literally dodge attacks and they still connect somehow, and heaven forbid you get caught on fire. Fire will deplete your shields and health quickly, even if you are standing in knee high water. Overall this is a fun, but short game that they promise to add to for free with large team. Currently the game feels incomplete which is sad, but normal anymore. Expand

Despite what some have said, this is a big open world with plenty to do. Everything is GORGEOUS.

Very interesting lore, GREAT TO NOT SAY AWESOME mechanics. WONDERFUL VISUALS. This is a game with story. I really got immersive in this one. I really have no idea on how this game got so much hate. Looks like almost some sort of conspiracy against it. This game deserves even from the most skeptic and grumpy gamers a big 9!

This game does lack an end game, has good amount of bugs, doesn't have everything available for purchase in the shop from the get go, has a loot problem at the moment but is being looked into, sound bug, and buggy quick play with broken missions. But you cant ignore the other qualities this game has. The combat is really fun where the guns feel pretty balanced, all four javelins feel and play completely differently from each other as well as all fun to play, story has interesting lore, graphics are fantastic, and a good amount of other great things.
This is one game I can say I really enjoy to mess around in while not all the time but it is a title I would enjoy getting back into playing every especially after every update. I also love making new builds for every javelin which adds onto things to do in the game rather than have to have endgame constantly.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Anthem shows a lot of promise, but as it stand now (1 week out of launch), it's trying to use it great gameplay to hold up the other aspects that are lacking, such as mission/enemy variety and subdued narrative. The novelty will wear off and most players will be left with an empty game with untapped potential. This makes the support planned for the title all the more important. A variety of quality-of-life fixes, mission variety to encourage recurring players to keep completing challenges, and a strong, consistent dose of narrative expansions to keep the world front and center and not behind "codex" entries. This will ensure a strong and passionate community to capitalize on what Destiny was struggling with. This gameplay and this idea should not be squandered, because once things click, its a fulfilling and intense experience, and if the loot and lore reflects that gameplay, Bioware will have something truly special Expand

Learning the culture and history of this new IP is very interesting. Several memorable characters-- my favorites so far are the gossiping Neeson, and the Arcanist Matthias.

Freeplay mode is decent, world events spawn as you fly over or near, adding to the sense that you are on patrol and responding to emergent threats. But, unless you are pre-grouped with friends, you feel disconnected to the other three players in the shared space.

    Visually stunning game world.

Planned future content is a boon here, as we are just in the beginning of Act one of three announced. I look forward to what the future holds for acts two and three (presumably covering at least year 1 of Anthem), and hope EA/Bioware give Anthem time grow.

However, as noted by others: solo story and group play don't mesh well here:load screens are annoying; and loot could use a fix (which is pending).

I'd suggest giving this game a try, it has flaws, but also strengths. Given time, Anthem can become a very solid title and franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ll start by saying the game is not, I repeat, is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. There are bugs for sure. 99% of which I can deal with, the servers STILL being sketchy bothers me (please fix this BioWare). The main story is pretty run of the mill, good guys trying to stop bad guys from having unstoppable power (what rpg/action game/looter shooter doesn’t boil down to that) and isn’t anything to really write home about. I personally however have enjoyed the side characters and MANY conversations you can have in Fort Tarsis and learning about them. MINOR SPOILER ALERT Like the old lady who’s son is dead but she is still waiting for him and you can either tell her the truth or play along to make her feel better. The game play is VERY fast paced and I will admit sometimes there is too much happening on the screen (I’ll be investing in eye drops). The shooting feels solid and the abilities look amazing. The flying handles well and just feels right, which is another one of the stronger points of the game. Overall if you want a game with fun and fast action, with a decent run of the mill story that offers some interesting and sometimes deep side characters Anthem is worth the pick up but I’d pass on the Legion of Dawn version. There is no other game that can offer the same experience. The story is fantastic. Coming from somebody who never enjoyed dragon age or mass effect, I really got into the story in fort tarsis. Mainly because it just adds so much flavour to an already fantastic shooter. Whether it keeps up to those games in terms of storytelling is really irrelevant to me. The gameplay on it's own is enough to keep me going. I'm picking up contracts every day just trying to keep my home safe and to bring honor to the freelancer name. The shooting is very tight. I'm always refining my style, trying to find the best combo of abilities and guns to suit each javelin and the playstyle each is more adept at. I am frankly upset that so many people have problems with this game, and for a few reasons. Other than a few disconnects, I have had no problems playing this game. Of course the developers can refer to points from the gaming community to improve their game, but to you people out there slamming the game, especially old bioware fans, giving the game 0/10, 1/10, etc.. why? Power trip? Don't bury this game. If you want to play destiny? Play that. I want to support this game so content keeps rolling.

I really enjoy the mechanics, the gameplay and there is lore and background info if you look for it. I played vanilla destiny and frankly, this is much better than when Destiny launched. I think people's problem with it is that it was not what they were expecting when they heard "Bioware" and then tried to explain it as "Destiny with bioware choices". I played vanilla destiny and frankly, this is much better than when Destiny launched. I think people's problem with it is that it was not what they were expecting when they heard "Bioware" and then tried to explain it as "Destiny with bioware choices". I am playing on a PS4 Pro and I am only a few hours in but honestly, I am having a blast and other than one instance of enemies popping in, I have had no problems.

I don't have the time to play the game for multiple hours every day so honestly, I think the content and the planned schedule that the game has will be fine for me. I am having fun with it and I can't wait to play more.

I also wouldn't call this game a shooter, and so to compare it to more traditional shooters like Destiny isn't a fair comparison. Yes, you do use guns, and yes you are shooting but the combat is about a whole lot more than just shooting. Positioning, using skills, movement, these are the things that make Anthem's combat great and different. Since I am playing on PS4 Pro I like the controls but honestly, I don't know how anyone could play this via mouse and keyboard.

Overall, I like the idea of the lore being found via cortex and optional conversations. Is it an in-depth player-choice driven Bioware single-player game like Dragon Age or Mass Effect? No. Is that necessarily a bad thing? No. Look, if you just want to quickly jump from mission to mission with just short conversations in-between, you can! If you want to look for all the optional logs and information to flesh out the world, you can but you have to read about it. Which, quite frankly, was what original Mass Effect did and I loved it.

Are all the decision in this game perfect? no. The load times are mildly irritating but not horrible on my PS4 Pro and does it take longer to go from mission to mission because you have to load back, talk to someone and then go back out again? Yeah, but that just gives me an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere, grab a beverage, and then go back in. I personally like these decisions and as someone who isn't trying to simply rush to the end-game, I like the forced slower pace.

Overall, I think Anthem tried to combine so many different things together that it didn't fit into the traditional molds of what a bioware game is, or a loot-driven game, or a shooter and so a lot of people got upset. I play Anthem for what it is and I think it is great now and will get better in time. If you disagree, that's fine, that's your opinion. My opinion? 8/10

This game is far from perfect, but it is a very solid start and with some tweaks I'm sure it's going to become an excellent game. Once April rolls around and new content has been released and the game has had a couple more patches, maybe we will start to see a clearer picture of the direction BioWare are going with this. Right now, it's just a hell of a lot of fun, and addictive to boot.

Instead of writing a massive essay, I'll throw down some pros and cons:

    Pros:
    -Flying is delightful
-The game is absolutely beautiful. Graphically, wonderful.
-The battling is a lot of fun and not too complicated.
    -The physics are almost perfect.
-The teamwork aspect of it is great and, at the moment (on the PS4), everyone seems to be keen to join forces and work together to complete missions/objectives.
-Plenty of customization opportunities for each Javeling (exosuit)
-Each javelin plays completely differently and changes the way you approach situations. For example: I am currently spending most time in the Storm javelin which has mage-like abilities (elemental attacks etc), but is weaker than the others. The Storm javelin allows you to hover for much longer than the other suits so you can hover above the battlefield and rain down holy hell. very satisfying. The colossus, though, is the tank javelin and that's barging in and blowing the crap out of everything. It also has an ability to essentially taunt enemies and force them to attack it. As it has the best defence (by far), it can take a lot of punishment.
-Plenty of loot to go and find and plenty of variation (I think).
-Being able to customize your exosuit paint job is awesome (and no, not using microtransactions).
-No microtransactions for anything other than cosmetics (different suit parts which don't affect abilities).
-Story is interesting and I'm intrigued as to where they will go with it.
-BioWare already set out a 90 day road map of new content - starting in March with the next Act of the story plus other things.
-Bioware already released 3 patches over the weekend (one was 10gb) fixing some initial issues.

    Cons
-Long loading times. This needs to be remedied really. It doesn't bother me as much as it appears to be bothering others, though.
-The characters have no base stat information so I'm still a little unsure of what my character's overall stats are after customizing them.
-Could do with a few more mission/objective types, but I'm sure that will come. Really missed a beat not having some kind of flying chase mission. Maybe later on. It's so much fun battling and flying around that, for now, there's enough variation for me. It reminds me of Diablo 3 in this sense. It's Diablo 3, with guns and flying (but much more beautiful and, dare I say it, fun!). Diablo 3 really is just fighting through hordes of enemies and collecting loot. Very few other things going on in that game. Very few puzzles or anything like that, but it's a hell of a lot of fun. Same with this, except there are a few different types of mission that you have. Protecting people, putting a relic back together whilst fighting off a Scar horde, collecting data for someone etc. It's mostly about the loot and, for now, there's more than enough of that. They will need to add to it though eventually!

I've seen too many reviews from people who haven't even played the game. Absolutely toxic and pathetic. Rent the game if you're not sure whether to buy it and see for yourself. If you like it, great. If you don't, there are plenty of other games out there for you.

The problem I see most is people constantly comparing it to other games, "its not like mass effect" because it isn't, would be like me saying last remnant is bad because it isn't final fantasy. "There's not as many guns as warframe" its been out for a few days, it took 5 years for warframe to build up its current catalogue of weapons, you think it had that many on launch? My favourite is the complaints about dialogue options not impacting the story, thats because its a mmo, changing the outcome of events would lead to different mission choices, so if i chose a path different from my friend, we'd end up with different missions and could not play them together, Bioware cleverly kept the dialogue options there for us to have some kind of interaction with the NPCs but tied it to bonus faction exp depending on your choice. I guess what im trying to say is that Anthem is its own game and a player should enter it with that in mind.

Its a fantasic experience that my friends and myself are having a great time playing

The graphics in this game are phenomenal some of the best I’ve seen on PS4 pro. The flying is extremely satisfying, the gunplay and general javelin play is also great, they nailed the aspect of each javelin playing and feeling completely different. I’ve put about 30 hours into this game on PS4 pro and have crashed 3 times. Which isn’t a big deal to me because even after those crashes I still want to play the game and see where the story goes. The story is the most “meh” part of the game to me, it throws a couple curve balls and plot twists that make it interesting if you’ve been paying attention to what’s going on which is pretty good at times and boring at worst. Facial animations are top notch. The game is a live service, if you like looter shooters flying around with friends blowing up enemies with cool ass abilities and are willing to stay for the long haul, which I know the game will become even better with future updates and roadmap already laid out. Don’t listen to the fools who gripe about the occasional bug and load times. If you can look pass that. You’ll be in for a very fun time.

The only big complaint I do have is armor. It doesn’t drop. From what I can tell you can only buy it with coins you get from completing challenges and missions or with shards (in game currency) which I’m hoping they fix soon to allow armor drops even if it was from like impossible bosses and mission or challenges.

It’s certainly not the second coming of Mass Effect 2, but it’s addictive.

Pros: it’s an Iron Man simulator. All four javelins have vastly different play styles. Only the ranger feels like a “shooter” style game. Story was great. Certainly has the BioWare quality cast of characters. Looter mechanics are much more similar to Diablo than Destiny. Flight mechanics have been nailed.

Also, I had a ton of bugs in the "demo"/beta weekends, but most have been resolved.

Overall, I think this is a very fun game with limited content and story at the moment.

And unlike a lot of co-op games, we're not leaving each other behind by playing alone--everything scales and we can join each other's missions and freeplay sessions and help each other out. It is a glaring omission that there are no non-voice communication options beyond a couple of emotes--but BW has already made updates that *have improved* the game (being on PS4 w/out early access, I'm seeing a huge improvement from the Demo weekends to release and am really encouraged by the improvements). Is it a finished game? Probably not, but it has so much potential, and wasn't Destiny a disappointment when it first released too? And you have to pay out the ass for every xpack. This doesn't seem to be the case with Anthem... you can choose to get vanity items or not and it doesn't detract from the gameplay. My big fear is that they'll give up on this game like they did Andromeda--which was also hugely improved after release, and knowing no single player xpacks were coming for that just sucked my motivation out of wanting to finish it. Anthem's combat and mechanics are a lot of fun to play, co-op has a lot of potential (contextual communication wheel ala Fortnite maybe?) and I've even had a good time teaming up with rando's to defeat Titans in freeplay. I'm not giving up on it. Expand

You can craft the heck out of your gear to build your perfect symbioses for your weapons/playstile.
Same goes for your javelin. You can make your Javelin nearly uniqe with dozens of materials, colours, gears etc. I never saw 2 Javelins in the same Sqaud that looked exactly the same.
Also the dialogues are mostly very good. It has not the depth of a Mass Effect/ Dragon Age but thats ok. Nevertheless, you can talk to many of the resident in Fort Tarsis an advise them with diffrent things. Sometimes the Fort will change a bit.
The dialogues within in the Missons/Contracts are very nice to and they are able to keep the tension high in many situations.

I don´t know what´s the problem for so many people.

This game is exactly as advertised.

It get compares a lot to Destiny or Warframe....but to what version of that games? At launch, Destiny had not very much content (but many broken promisses (smaller maps as promissed, 3 strikes at start) but it changed over the months with the live-service. Same for Warframe. You compare a new game wich just startet with other games that had time over years to evolve an become what they are now. In the beginning, they where more or less at the same state, they where ok but had much space to evolve, and they did.

Please guys, remember, this is just the beginning. Let it evolve.

btw. sorry for my bad english :P

Oh, nd one more thing. I am not a "EA-Fanboy" or something. I dont like that company very much and try to avoid it. But this doesnt change the fact for me, that this is a great game.

I'll compare the game with destiny 2:

    1) Gameplay: Anthem > Destiny 2 because in Anthem you can use your abilities more often. Combat is more dynamic, user has to decide more often which ability is used when on which enemy. Destiny 2 feels like a boring shooter compared to Anthem. Anthem has no PvP so the game is not balanced around a stupid PvP mode. Its just designed as a great PvE

Destiny 2 feels like a boring shooter compared to Anthem. Anthem has no PvP so the game is not balanced around a stupid PvP mode. Its just designed as a great PvE game.

    2) Story: Anthem > Destiny 2. Both game's stories are standard: Something powerful (traveleranthem) is there, 2 fractions want to use its powers. But: Destiny story presentation is just bad. Anthem has many (skip able) dialogs, nice cut scenes and the story makes a bit more sense to me.

    3) Graphics: Anthem > Destiny 2. Well, ... its just as it is.

I don't think that Anthem is a masterpiece. Its a solid game. Any player who likes destiny 2 PvE should try Anthem. Players who don't like the looter-shooter-genre: just don't buy anthem (or destiny 2).

Destiny 2 was a boring game without any endgame content because the whole content was too easy. You don't need any high level gear for anything. Strikes are not a challenge at all. And the raids are just boring because it's all about learning mechanics, not about skill, timing,...! But destiny was ..."ok".

Anthem is a great PvE experience for those, who like Warframe, Destiny 2 and similar games.

If you like PvP: Don't buy anthem!

About loading times: I have a normal Ps4Pro with the standard HDD using day1 patch. Loading times are pretty short. Got many other games with longer loading times (Destiny 2 for example...!)

I buyed Anthem knowing that this would be a game that gets some live development and that needs a frequent userbase so the creators can learn, fix and adjust things.

The best thing in Anthem is how they make you feel you're wearing a Javelin by yourself. Just as good as Spider-Man made you feel you were slinging the webs by yourself, the DualShock4 transforms a very good feeling when you start flying around and everything else you do while being in your Javelin. Looking forward to how the game continues to transform!

That aside, I can give you an honest opinion of the game.

if you're looking for a great story filled with memorable characters and NPCs you will be very disappointed. It's lacklustre and very predictable. There is only one city (if you can even call it that) and I find it a slow boring chore walking up to each unimportant shop keeper or drunk just to give you fkn faction points. Theirs choices to be made in the conversations and I found it completely useless and lazy. It's not like the Paragon choices you had in Mass Effect. The main characters don't interest me one bit and I find that Owen guy unbearable.

The game truly shines on it's gameplay and detail. The world is completely beautiful and its sandbox is just amazing to travel through by air. You can fly around with your chosen javelin through dense forest weaving trees, through caves, shortcut your way across the map through wormhole tunnels and even take a quick dip under water to cool your engines to extend your flying.

Combat is fast and intense and I suggest you always play on the HARD difficulty even when just starting and with a group to maximise experience and get better loot.

The javelins are well designed, some are different from each other some are very similar. I prefer to use the Interceptor which is a rogue class. Very fast, jump in jump out type class with a range of different skills.

You can try the Storm javelin which is the mage class which can cast devastating elemental damage from afar but can't take many hits and will be at the back of the pack.

The Colossus or I call him 'Big Boy' is the tank of the group which has the taunt skill and carries a shield to jump into the party. You can also use him afar and use artillery fire to devastate.

If you still on the fence you can opt back to the starter Ranger class which has a balance of offence and defence and probably the easiest to use.

Yes there are loading screens and they are annoyingly long. I hate it when I have to jump menus to gear up my javelin...loading screen...then go to the mission select...loading screen...oh sh..t forgot to equip better guns....loading screen...start mission...you guessed it. Hopefully some patches can reduce this especially during gameplay when you go into dungeons. Really breaks immersion but I'm not too pissed at that...yet

Will be interesting what endgame content they'll have and how they overcome content when there's no PvP. The strongholds which is the 'Raid' equivalent are challenging enough on Hard is the best way of getting the best loot.

Overall it's a good game, not great even though they had the 'allstar Bioware' team and so much time to perfect it. My real score is a 6-7 but i'll give it an 8 to boost it's score from the stupid haters.

Not as a single player story based game, as that is not what it is, I’m not going to rate it as mass effect 4, as that isn’t what it is. This has more in common with a game like Diablo than it does a classic Bioware story based single player adventure. I will be giving my honest opinion from playing the game over this weekend, around 12 hours and I will amend should my opinion change further in.i

Firstly, the presentation of this game is great, the feel of movement, flight, combat are all strong and although I suspect built on the building blocks of ME’s third person shooting but a fair bit tighter. The setting is large, sprawling, beautiful and interesting. This large scale area can be a bit empty, but there are rare chests, hidden areas of interest, codex entries and lore for places of interest should that be something you want to delve into.

The player hub which is a town to pick up missions talk to NPC’s to get some more info on the world and access your javelin to customise it and equip different skills, weapons or buffs which are all loot picked up from enemy drops or chests found dropped from completed events. One thing I found jarring from this is playing a mission with friends, you all go back to town, talk to people, amend your loadout watch a cutscene, but your squad may all be at different parts of the story, meaning there can be a lot of waiting, and whilst the plot interests me and the conversations I want to be engaged in I do find myself distracted worrying about holding up my friends while they wait for me. But the town is where you find the story and interesting characters you may expect from single player bioware titles but much in simpler form mainly because this isn’t an epic single player bioware game but a looter shooter with bioware flavour. This shouldn’t surprise anyone.

The game is really fun to play, the loot is varied and interesting a good number of skills to interchange and combo with eachother, components to boost damage types, weapon types, and all gear including weapons can bolster your skills too so with some gear some great combinations can be equipped to suit your build or compliment your allies abilities. Which for me is enough to say that this game is enjoyable, it’s fun to play and I truly believe I will be playing it for some time.

One criticism I do have from playing is the mission types seem similar, it’s fight several waves of enemies, guard an area for a time/pick up objects nearby and collect them together, defeat a boss. Mission complete, this is also similar in free roam with the random events so it’s not very imaginative. But the core gameplay is fun, and the bosses are interesting so far, so that doesn’t bother me much.

In Summary, I do not think this is a 10, but I know this is not a 0, this is a 7-8 in my opinion with the potential to grow with its evolving world and planned free additional content. I am basing my opinion on my enjoyment of the game and not out of nostalgic loyalty to Bioware, politics or a general dislike of EA. Some pro’s and con’s.

    Pros
Beautiful local with points of interest to explore.
Tight and challenging combat that encourages teamwork.
A decent loot system including skills as loot.
Interesting Javelins that play and feel different.
A good fun multiplayer looter shooter.
Town parts and conversations are interesting and a bioware seasoning upon this different style game

    Cons
Town conversations cutscenes make multiplayer awkward at times.
Not good variation of mission types, only 3-4 formulas that are repeated

Rewarding this an 8 on light of the above comments and based on my own experience of the game. I will edit this once further in should the above change as I progress.

The critics are crazy and you should feel free to ignore them. This is a great game that if you like looter shooters, Borderlands, Destiny, Warframe, or Division, you will also enjoy Anthem. Even Monster Hunter World is comparable though obviously more set apart due to its structure. Let's go through the critical issues one by one.

Bugs - Many of the bugs critics complained about are already squashed and the rest obviously will be squashed. There's no way Bioware is going to let them be. Comparisons to Fallout 76 are a downright lie and whoever spreads those lies should be ashamed of themselves. I've experienced some minor bugs and so the game does lose some score for that.

Story - Look, it's not Mass Effect but mainly because it's linear, not because it is any less quality. I am very much enjoying getting to know the colorful cast around Fort Tarsis and there is at least one twist I didn't see coming. Now sure, not everyone has to love the story, everyone is allowed to have their opinion. However, the story of Anthem leaves Warframe, Destiny, and Division in the dust and that's indisputable. Anyone saying otherwise is lying to you.

Graphics - Everyone agrees these are great.

Sound - Everyone agrees this is great.

Gameplay - Everyone agrees this is great. It's super fun. The combo system is a joy and unlike Destiny you can make some actually diverse builds with the gear in the game. None of the 4 Javelins plays the same. I stomp around the battlefield like Hulkbuster Iron Man in my Colossus and am constantly cycling between all my abilities. From sprinting through mobs with my shield, to air slams, to mortars, to flamethrowers, throw in some auto cannon and grenade launcher, and just keep on going. Anthem is an Iron Man simulator and it is a glorious one.

Endgame grind - Is pretty typical for this genre. Now, grinding isn't for everyone! That's cool. However, the grind is absolutely comparable to anything in Destiny, Warframe, Division, etc. If you don't like the grind in this game, you just don't like looter shooters.

EA hating - I mean, I'm totally with you that EA is a bad company but I'm not going to drag down a good game just to hate on EA.

Microtransactions - Are only for cosmetics, and all DLC is free. Yes, it sucks to have micro transactions in paid games but we crossed that bridge a while ago and it's a thing now. I won't drag down a good game to hate on micro transactions.

Day one patches - Yes, it sucks that games release and need day one patches. Again, why should we drag Anthem through the mud to complain about that practice? It is also a lot more forgivable with a game like Anthem as it is a live service that will evolve over time. You don't like these new live service games? Bully for you, don't play them, Cyberpunk is being worked on as we speak, doesn't mean Anthem deserves to be dragged down. Personally, I enjoy the journey we take with these live service games, still have fond memories of the Year 1 Triumphs from Destiny.

Overall, the core fundamentals of this game are solid and a blast. There are some minor rough edges that need polishing, some UI fixes, some bug squashing. You skip this game because of the critics, you're missing out.
