I would give this a negative score if I could. This game has terrible graphics, gameplay and everything else. Garbage game, for real. I would rather die than spend another minute playing.

I tried to like this game, but the voice acting was just very terrible. The storyline is very boring and linear, luckily though Steam was nice enough to refund this purchase so it could be spent on a game worth my time. I am glad that Steam refunded this terrible purchase and allowed me to buy the Pepe the Frog game along with Praise Kek!

This is an abortion of a game, the type of thing that would show up on android and only used as a front to install some type of malware or backdoor program. It's ridiculous time was spent on creating this. Avoid at all cost.

I really enjoy a good cyberpunk story, and i love good pixel art. This game has none of those things. The music is bland, the gameplay is repetitive. Overall, a **** game. Dont bother playing

My 11-year-old niece writes better stories than the story in this game, and I'm not even being hyperbolic. This game is an absolute embarrassment to the gaming community. It's so bad I can only assume the good reviews came from paid shills. Save your money.

The game was really bad. Don't waste your money on this! I can't believe they actually charge money for this boring game. I couldn't bare to play it for more than an hour.

A missed opportunity. 2064: ROM is a poster child for squandered potential. What starts out as an interesting concept is quickly lost in a myriad of inexcusable flaws that could so easily have been avoided with a little foresight, and better planning.

Any video game must fulfill two basic criteria to be considered an engaging experience; It must be FUN, and it must provide a CHALLENGE.

Any video game must fulfill two basic criteria to be considered an engaging experience; It must be FUN, and it must provide a CHALLENGE. 2064: ROM has failed in both regards, unfortunately.

The story is bland and the writing is disappointingly unrefined, even for a low-budget Indie title like this. Gameplay is mundane and repetitive, with not a single original concept being introduced at any point (despite my dogged perseverance to find something, anything, to like about this game!)

It's short, badly thought out, poorly implemented, and quite simply boring. The only time I'd recommend this game is as a working example of how to ensure failure for a budding game studio.

    Not worth the purchase. 1/10.

Proof that politics has no place in video games.

2064: Read Only Memories is a game that tries to be all things to all people, wrapped up in a story that ostensibly boasts love and tolerance of different ideals, but instead settles on a half-hearted concept that isn't a speck on other beloved point-and-clicks from a better era of gaming. 2064: Read Only Memories is a game that tries to be all things to all people, wrapped up in a story that ostensibly boasts love and tolerance of different ideals, but instead settles on a half-hearted concept that isn't a speck on other beloved point-and-clicks from a better era of gaming.

I wouldn't have given this game another thought, but after reading about the developers openly antagonizing anyone who didn't vote a certain way in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, I felt I might as well give it a shot and see if it has anything compelling. I knew I was walking into a political minefield, but I still wanted to try it just the same.

For the first half-hour, the concept of a cyberpunk point-and-click adventure with a robot buddy and influences from real-world issues is not only enticing, but delectable. The early setpieces of 2064 relish in allowing you to experiment with different combinations of items and details in the environment, with lots of custom responses for each pair you try out. The game's aesthetic and color palette heavily evokes a cross between a late-80's Sierra PC game (like the Laura Bow titles) and a mid-90s interactive novel for the Sega CD. Even though the prologue is on-rails, it does a good job introducing you to the wider world set-up in the opening cinematic, and it feels like there's the promise of a much wider exploration of gender issues as seen through the lens of individuals who genetically modify themselves.

Then the plot gets going, and that's when everything goes to hell.

The biggest problem with the game is that it seems to be a study in gender dynamics. The set-up of how and why Professor Webber disappeared takes a backseat to numerous scenes of NPCs and other characters talking down to the player because the latter doesn't understand the choice others have made to modify themselves. This doesn't even take into account that there is next-to-no player agency whatsoever, and the plot is built in such a way that Turing does most (if not all) of the decision-making for you. The entire experience feels like an on-rails story where you do very little except watch and listen as other characters play out the story for you. Compare this to titles like the aforementioned Laura Bow series and other Sierra titles, where you gave the player character agency and it was your actions and investigations that drove the plot.

I actually thought that the early-game choice to designate which pronouns you want to reflect yourself as in dialogue was a tongue-in-cheek joke towards the same real-world disputes about gender identity and self-identification. It turns out that it wasn't a joke, and that this moment is just part of an ongoing, more subtle attempt to bring the player onboard with a left-wing ideology that you can't discuss, criticize or confront in any way. Any attempt to play the game as a bystander or ask questions is met with resistance, insults and put-downs. Turing talks down to you and treats you like an idiot constantly, despite the fact that it voluntarily came to you and asked for YOUR help. As the player, I had no choice to criticize some of the choices the in-game NPCs were taking, like deliberately gene splicing themselves and attempting to have children despite the obvious challenges such a procedure would have from an in-universe standpoint.

The promise of the early-game setup doesn't bear itself out for the rest of the game, and the material becomes preachy and belittling as a result. The game just doesn't give you enough information to make an informed choice in conversations, and as someone who generally plays as an inquisitive, pious character in RPGs, I quickly found myself being insulted, belittled and yelled at because I wasn't playing the game the way it was "meant to be".

Even more confusing is the ending, which changes based on whether you've been overly loyal to Turing or not. I never made it through the rest of the game and ended up watching the rest on Youtube. Safe to say, I didn't really miss anything.

At the end of the day, 2064: Read Only Memories has a handful of compelling ideas and a promising start, but quickly devolves into a preachy, simplistic mess that wants to hold the player's hand and shovel a message down their throats at every turn.

    Avoid.

Unbelievable. I cannot believe a company would disrespect a large group of people. It shouldn't matter what political views a potential buyer has. I will never support a company that tells people to "**** off."

If you enjoyed Mass Effect: Andromeda's writing and Mass Effect 3's endings, you'll love this. Character's thrust their identities in your face with robot dialog. Attempt to move outside the agenda and you'll end up electro shocked until you're back following like a drone.

Probably one of the worst, if not THE worst game I've played... and I've played a lot of games. Especially the gameplay and user intereface are horrible. If you like Cyberpunk, maybe this is a game for you, but personally, I found the story and the setting lame and boring.

Low-G Man on the NES was a better game than this pile of garbage. I wish I hadn't spent the bandwidth needed to download this piece of tripe much less the time. Perhaps the only redeeming quality of this "game" is that I get some small enjoyment out of trashing it.

There is nothing new and inventive about this game.

Nothing creative. Nothing new. Nothing exciting.

If you want a new game to play, look elsewhere.

If you want another prototypical, cookie cutter, cardboard cutout shooter, this is it.

But that's all it is. A cardboard cutout.

It falls short of being a pastiche by appealing to a common denominator so low that it doesn't even exist. People don't play games while washing doing the dishes. The gameplay is overshadowed by one too many headbangers.

Bugs aside, I had a killer time with 2064. Although series like Phoenix Wright and Danganronpa have successfully reinvented the Japanese-style adventure game for the 21st century, there's a certain allure to the mysterious world of menu-driven microcomputer adventures of decades past. 2064 not only successfully simulates that feeling, it welcomes players of all backgrounds and orientations with open arms. 2064's future is one that belongs to all of us.

2064: Read Only Memories presents an interesting, if not predictable, narrative that is propelled by its strong cast of characters and excellent world-building. It’s refreshing to see a developer put so much care into creating a cast as diverse and interesting as this.

I alternated between enjoyment and stretches of indifference. I am genuinely glad, though, that we have this addition to our growing Western library of visual novel hybrids (!).
