Yeah, both games are a bit too talky, and somewhat short as well, but they deliver high octane giant robot action with grace and skill. Both games hit the ground running, give the player a ton of power, and don't let up on the energy until done.

Zone of the Enders HD collection features high-speed robot action with a great overall story - oh, and it has another Metal Gear demo too!

Whether you still harbour fond memories of the franchise or never played it back in the day, Zone Of The Enders is definitely worth another look and the HD remaster team have done a sterling job. Oh, and did we mention the Revengeance demo? You'll want that too.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection has become a beautiful package. Both games offer original gameplay. Even though they are eleven years old, a surprising fact. The barrier between the two games can be pointed out as a negative thing, but both games are good enough to enjoy them throughout the full ride. This package belongs in your collection, no matter what.

ZoE2 is worth the price of admission alone just for being a fantastic standalone action mech game (and that's not including the extras included within like the special missions), though ZoE1 is a decent introduction to the series if you really want to invest yourself into the series and the backstory.

The Zone of the Enders HD collection is a very rich package: the perfect opportunity for both old and new fans to experience a great classic from Kojima Productions.

The 2nd Runner also helps make up for a regrettable lack of extras in this set with the EX modes and additional content created for its special edition release.

There isn't much out there quite like Zone of the Enders. The first game is the weaker of the two, serving as lukewarm appetizer for the main course. The Second Runner, though, with all its refinements and polished battle system, is certainly worth the price of admission.

It may not be Metal Gear, but it's still one of Kojima's best works, and this is a great way to experience it all over again. Not only that, but it's worth picking up the game with the hope that sales will finally push Kojima to make Zone of the Enders 3.

The bargain price(along with the Metal Gear Rising: Revengence demo)might make it more attractive to gamers new to Zone of the Enders, and it's definitely worth it for old fans. [Dec 2012, p.81]

Zone of the Enders ultimately doesn't offer much, but then it didn't really promise much either – it's a great, if short ride for any mech fans, and even those who just enjoy fast paced action games should get a good kick out of this as well. Here's to Zone of the Enders 3.

Zone of the Enders HD is a great collection. The first one feels a bit dated and simplistic, but the second one is definitely one of the best mech games ever made. If you've never played these and find yourself intrigued by the concept, don't hesitate to buy it.

As a product for the fans who loved the original episodes is good, but as an HD remake there's a lot of room for improvement. Recommended for those who want to (re)live the experience, taking into account its reduced priced.

Part two has miner Dingo Egret (best name ever!) stumbling upon Jehuty, the mobile suit of his predecessor, Leo. Everything is better this time around: better story, better graphics and most of all: better gameplay. [January 2013, p.84]
  17. Overall, an uneven, slightly flawed but nontheless enjoyable collection that offers a particular brand of gameplay and storytelling you're hard pushed to find from a current release.

Though neither of these games can eclipse the love and attention lavished upon other Kojima projects, they're still decent examples of their genre. [Christmas 2012, p.74]

Until now we've got plenty of HD collection, remake and reboot, but it's still a good thing that sometimes an old masterpiece comes back for the sake of gamers. This is the case for Zone of the Enders: HD Collection, a good game which again presents one of the best sagas of the last console generation. Unfortunately there is not much to play for for those who bought the original game, but the games themselves are worth the cost.

The first game is absurdly weak and offers little more than a look into the world before it ends abruptly after five hours.

The Zone of the Enders HD Collection is once again a perfect way for fans of the original games to get a nostalgia fix, but this collection would have to be the weakest release thus far. A choppy frame rate, inconsistency between games and a lacklustre presentation prevent it from being as satisfying for fans as it should have been.

Time sure wasn't kind on the first Zone of the Enders and the HD remastering of the collection isn't perfect. Luckily the 2nd Runner remains a PS2 Classic and this, coupled with the feeling of nostalgia, are the only reasons you should care about this package.

Certainly not the worst HD collection so far but considering only one of the games was ever any good it's unlikely to be enough to garner many new fans.

A poorly made port of two titles among which the second one reached near-cult status. Still something to be experience, for sure, but it could have really been much better remastered.

The aerial combat is still thrilling, but some inexcusable issues make Zone of the Enders HD Collection a disappointing repackaging of two cult classics.

Its incredibly short stature makes ZOE an almost pointless re-release, and the de-evolved frame rate handling of 2nd Runner isn't much to pine for unless your PS2 copy was lost, stolen, or destroyed. If this is an effort to get people amped and ready for the recently announced Zone of the Enders 3, fans certainly deserve better than this.

The title "High Speed Robot Action" doesn't fit too well with this HD bundle as both the games fall short due to their framerates. ZOE 1's framerate keeps up and doesn't let the experience die down, but ZOE 2 lacks in speed due to the framerate continuously dropping during its shinnying moments. Zone of the enders is unplayable mess from every point of view.

Plot is non-existant, main character makes me want to kill him every time he opens his mouth.

Worst of all are awful gameplay mechanics and fact that this is unplayable without a strategy guide, because game NEVER explain what needs to be done next so its up to you to decide which of 5 already finished levels you must visit for 5th time to get another "password" to progress further.
