    It's a great mix of puzzles, platforming, and shooting combined with great graphics. The Combat can get a little old and the towards the end the game basicaly changes to a survival horror game the goods far outway the bad.

    Loved this game. Very action packed, awesome graphics, great story, and alot of variety to its gameplay. You don't want to miss this one especially when part 2 maybe out by xmas 09 hopefully.

    Literally just finished the game. I found it to be very good all round including the gunplay which has a similar cover system to gears of war on xbox but done more discretely. Although as you have to use cover so much there are very few points of the game where the shotguns are of any use. The storlyine has some twists at the end that are a little out of context and a little odd but thereLiterally just finished the game.     Overall, this is a great game. It does so many things better than any other game out there. The characters and plot, while not exactly cinema standard, are the best of any game I've seen in a quite a while. The game is also excellently paced; gameplay varies between shooting, exploring and puzzles which keeps things interesting. Graphically, this game is top notch. The diverse and interesting locations are well presented. A few of the character animations look a small bit clunky compared to the new heights of smoothness seen in Assassin's Creed, but they're not particularly bad. Facial expressions in particular are well animated and really help convey the characters personalities. Because of this, though the story is related primarily through cut scenes, these are never annoying, as the characters are genuinely likable, and their actions are a pleasure to watch. When I got the game I expected something a bit more like Tomb Raider and while some sections are, know that the majority of time in Uncharted is spent shooting. For the most part the shooting is good but it often feels like it's artificially dragged out, with unseen waves of enemies appearing from no where. This is especially true when you first arrive at the island, after the introductory part of the game. Here the pacing falls down and you must persevere through several shooting galleries before another kind of gameplay is offered up. Furthermore, it almost makes no sense for the enemies to show up in some of the locations they do. All in all, an excellent effort from Naughty Dog, let down in places by small problems.… Expand

    This game will invariably be compared to Lara. Shame really, since its much, much better. Puzzles are fun and graphically its solid but by far the best part is the gun play. The snap to cover system work brilliantly making gun fights thrilling and exhilarating. With the added inclusion of PSN trophies this a definite must buy.

    The visuals are stunning, the storyline is engrossing and the gameplay mechanics are solid. Uncharted isn't revolutionary but it's not trying to be, it's just a well made game that happens to be the most beautiful game on consoles period.

    Overall great game a lot of fun. Big surprise in the end. The graphics, storyline and overall game play are great the only thing keeping this game from being a ten is that the game is relatively short. It took me just under 8 hours to complete and one more run through to get all the lost treasure.

What a great game! A lot of people complain that the gun battles are too repetitive, but if it wasn't the game would be a lot shorter! so its fine the way it is. Do not rent this game.     This was my first game for the ps3 and I must say that I really loved it. The story is a bit too short, but other then that it's a excellent game.

    Wow. What a game. Pure action, fun shooting segments and fun platforming. Sure the platforming might be easy but it fun. The graphics are amazing with a ton of varied environments above and below ground. The game gets really difficult near the end, but it builds in difficulty. I never want to go back and complete games and find all of the secrets, but I missed 21 of the 60 treasures the Wow. What a game. Pure action, fun shooting segments and fun platforming.     Amazing gameplay. this game made me a fan of shooters. in depth characters, action and story. this is what the ps3 was made to do. can't wait for the sequel.

    I love this game. It's a fun single player game that is great with platforming and combing shooter/action elements. I only wish it was slightly longer and had more of the horror elements.

    I can't believe I didn't play Uncharted until know. This game was so amazing to play the acting and voice acting was really y top notch. The cgam play refreshing to play I had so much fun!

    Best game I played in long while. Good amount of treasures to find, puzzles, good shooter mechanics and further more brilliant story telling. While I have some quirks about the game, it's so extremely minor and subjective It doesn't need to be included in the rating. While no game is perfect, this game hits all cylinders with what it does.     AI is fantastic, graphics are mind blowing, sound is right on the money. N.D. did a wonderful job bringing this game together. The only thing that could have been better is possible make the game co-op capabable.

    Yet another game for the PS3 that could and should be a system seller!

But when I heard About Uncharted Drake's Fortune in June of 2007 and learned that Naughty Dog was making the game it sparked my interest. Not only did I buy a PS3 this last summer not knowing wheather the game would be good or not. I also pre-ordered it and did as much reasearch about the game as I could. I used my thinking skills about how well this game was being made compared to some of our recent games that have come out such as Halo, CD4: Modern Warfare and other titles. I discovered that hey this game is going to be PS3's Halo game. Then when I played the demo gosh! The game is just as good as the Game previewers tell me and it well excieds my expectation. No to mention I don't usally buy games that depict blood but hey Indiana Jones has it so why not? The game play is wonderfull and the graphic possibly on par- with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within(Movie) if not better. Buy this game it is worth it and all the reviewers who praise it are true and correct which doesn't happen much with a title such as this one. Sound is just like watching a Star Wars movie or even on par with the sound in the Transfomers DVD by Micheal Bay. It's the Halo of PS3 and it's not even rated "M" only T which may make is more popular with the younger crowd.… Expand

    One of the best, most cinematic, intense games i've ever played! After you finish it your left wanting more, therefore you play it through again. But im not sure how many times one would play through this game, but it's something nobody should ever miss! Better than Gears of War on my list!

    This is easlily the best looking game to come out on any console this past year. It plays a bit like tombraider meets Max Payne. I really enjoyed this game, the story was great, the game play was fun and got better and better as you played through the game. The visual look of the game is absolutely incredible, there are moments in this game where you cannot believe it is a game.     One of the most immersive games I have ever played with an incredibly realistic presentation. As close to a blockbuster hit as you can get. It's the little things that really make this game stand out (e.g. Drake flinches behind cover when shot, clothes get wet in water, etc.). A must buy for any PS3 owner/action-adventure fan.

    This is the first single player game that I've actually played through 4 times in a row for new unlockables that make the game fun. It takes me back to when Perfect dark had time limits set for cheats, but this time its attached to certain limits in killing and collecting hidden treasures.

(You can skip any little cutscene and you are already playing the next level without running into a load screen; Sure you may see textures load after skipping the cut scene but, it makes it a whole lot more fun to play it through.)

    the mechanics of the game feel like a simplified version of Tomb Raider and Prince of Persia, however you aren't sweating each jump to time it correctly or hitting a certain button to perform an action. you just run n' jump. Yes it is that simple, but very fun.

    The [cheats] you gain for your efforts makes the game more fun to play a second time.

    From the very beginning I knew I was going to love this game. Naughty Dog(the makers of my personal favorite game of last generation, Jak 2) have metaphorically hit another one right out of the park. When you realize that the movie you just watched is actually gameplay, you are hooked. GOTY for sure.

    This game is the perfect compliment to your ps3 library. It is by far the best exclusive title on the console. Meshing great graphics, gameplay and story all in one makes this title a must buy for any PS3 owner.

    This game is a diamond in the rough that is the PS3 game lineup. This one actually delivers on what it promised, unlike Heavenly Sword and Lair. Best graphics I have ever seen in a game and as fun as watching a supermodel on a trampoline. BUY THIS GAME because the PS3 is now a contender!

To the thundering waterfalls and ancient fortresses you adventure through, to the subtle way the fabric of Drake's shirt shifts as he runs, your eyes are in for a visual feast that runs at a constant, smooth framerate even when the action heats up. The extensive motion capture work Naughty Dog used on this title is evident in the way Drake To put it bluntly, this game is beautiful. To the thundering waterfalls and ancient fortresses you adventure through, to the subtle way the fabric of Drake's shirt shifts as he runs, your eyes are in for a visual feast that runs at a constant, smooth framerate even when the action heats up. The extensive motion capture work Naughty Dog used on this title is evident in the way Drake an Co. move and interact with the environment, adding a level of immersion that goes overlooked in most games. However, in their quest to strike a balance between response time and character movement, the developers seem to have missed the mark. Platforming movements aren't seamless and tend to be too rapid to be believable, making things seem sort of canned. Technical elements of the story also stray a little to far from reality, adding to a sort of out-of-place feeling. The story as a whole is pretty solid and fun to play through though, and the time you'll spend having fun greatly outweighs the few discomforts. An excellent game overall.… Expand

    Really great story, graphics, control, and everything else I'm missing. I'm currently in chapter 8 and I'm pretty surprised that critics say that it takes approx. 8 hours cause I'm pretty sure its not gonna happen at the rate I'm having. Def must buy or at least rent if you own the ps3.

    The best PS3 game, period. Phenomenal graphics, awesome gameplay, and a story you wish they'd make into a movie. Uncharted has it all. If you're in the field for a Playstation 3, Drake's fortune should be considered without a doubt, and it will warrant that purchase. This is the game to play this year, it's that simple.

    You know, there are some flaws in this. Like the camera angles didn't always agree with me and the gameplay got a little repetitive but when there's a story that's this compelling, it compensates for it. The gameplay, though as I said repetitive, is remarkable. This is fun

    One great adventure game.
    Characters were interesting as well.
    No multiplayer mode, but the adventure sure was one hell of a ride.

    Gameplay wasn't that smooth that was all.
    Great game, 8.5/10.

    I think that Drakes Fortune is an excellent game, and one that has a lot to offer most gamers. There is plenty of problem solving, adventure and "bad guys" to shoot at to make most gamers happy. Overall, I would say this is a "must have" for most gamers' collections!

    Love it. If you agree with the Onion AV club you are a tool! Negative reviews are from people who cannot play video games.
    I like the fact that the control scheme is complete. There are a ton of possible moves and the bonus potential is great. The modifications to the game based on rewards is really nice too. I am looking forward to playing Uncharted 2!

    Love the story, plot, pacing. For its time, my favorite game. I'd say a 10, but things have improved since then so much in its sequels. Either way, you owe it to yourself to checkout the first in the series as it is unique, and harder difficulty in crushing than UC2 and UC3.

The story is amazing and the gameplay has a pretty cool mix of 3rd person shooting, platforming and puzzles. The graphics do look great and it still does today, but you'll notice that it's a bit dated after over 3 years. This is a stellar PS3 title andI got this game over a year ago and this game still pretty cool to this day. Naughty Dog has made one of their best games they've made. The story is amazing and the gameplay has a pretty cool mix of 3rd person shooting, platforming and puzzles.     I got this game with my PS3 when i brought it and it sat there for a few months gathering dust, Read a few good things online and decided to give it a crack. Well what a suprise i got, the best game i had played at the time. Graphically great with excellent characters and story. Playing this through a third time now.

    Tomb Raider meets Indiana Jones! I like the third person perspective for console games. (PC for first person) I am almost done with this one and have already purchased the second and pre-ordered the third. Graphics are good and action is challenging but not so much that it's frustrating. (I play on easy.) Great adventure game.

    There are several extremely arbitrary "do this or else" forced deaths in the climbing sections (one spot kills you if you do a 10 foot drop instead of take down a hard-to-see and glitchy rope), the jetski driving    The story is corny but gripping in the first 90%, the art design is top-notch, and the simple gameplay is easy to drop into - but holy hell this game has NOT aged well.

    There are several extremely arbitrary "do this or else" forced deaths in the climbing sections (one spot kills you if you do a 10 foot drop instead of take down a hard-to-see and glitchy rope), the jetski driving sections are ATROCIOUS, and many of the canned animations can glitch out your character into a frozen T-posed mannequin who can't move or do anything.

    Worst of all, the end of the game contains a large plot twist that is... *incredibly* stupid. I won't spoil it, but the drop in quality in the final few levels is just unreal, and I even found myself saying "This is SO BAD" out loud several times. Slog through it, and the end of the game is still very rewarding and worthwhile... Just, try and pretend that twist never happened.

    In spite of its flaws, this is the kind of game I would have loved to pieces when I was younger, and even though I'm only playing it just now, I'm definitely enjoying the experience. I can absolutely see why it was groundbreaking 11 years ago - the animations and voice acting are leagues ahead of most modern games - but at the same time, it absolutely, thoroughly feels like it comes from the mid-2000s both for better and for worse.    … Expand

    The graphics are very good, but the jungle setting grows old fast. The cover-based shooting isn't as fluid as the second game, and neither is the climbing and jumping. That being said, you get a sense of potential while playing the game, and the characters of Nate, Elena, and Sully carry the whole game. Still, it's a bit too repetitive to live up to its amazing sequel.

    I see a lot of people/critics that praise Uncharted 2 for being such an amazing game, and I realize that Uncharted 2 has an amazing cinematic feel and does all these other wonderful things with multiplayer, co-op, and all that other good stuff; but Uncharted is definitely in my top 10 games of all time list.     The must play action game on the PS3 and of 2007. This is a true action adventure game with amazing cinematics, great graphics, good cover system, intense shoot-outs, fantastic voice acting and an appealing story. However, the story is only up to 7 hours on normal difficulty, on crushing: 10 but there are treasures to collect to keep you busy for a few more days/weeks.

    6 days from release of uncharted 3 and im stuck playing the first two over and over until that amazing day comes, and both uncharted and uncharted 2 are amazing. This game started a series that will sure stay with us for a very long time. A sure contendor for one of the best games ever made!

    3rd Best game this gen (after Uncharted 2 , 3), its Very underrated too! I dont get how some people hate it, if you actually played the game you will know its one of the best adventure games this gen! I recommend it to everyone who like action/adventure games

    This game was great, it gave an awesome movie hero feel and it was really fun just jumping around with Drake. Of course I feel like I would love to know Drake more, and thank god Naughty Dog decided to make a sequel for this one as I can only see this series getting better and better.

    Very very very good story. The enviornment is beautiful the voice acting and sound are great and it's just fun to play. Now, the gameplay it self is very...retroish and it can sometimes feel old and at times a bit akward but it'r really hard to fault this game on alot

    Haven't enjoyed an action/adventure game this much in a long time. Since I've played Uncharted, pulp action movies have not been as enjoyable as this game. While the controls are not as tight as some games, this is a great game for someone who only has a few hours a week to enjoy a video game and wants to make the most of their time.

    A great single player experience can be had with this game, the graphics at times are pretty good, some of the level design is mostly ok althoguh the platform elements are extremely easy. The only challenge the game offers is from the combat which becomes very tiresome and repetitive. Overall the game has a nice adventure feeling but would have greatly benefited from some more open levels.

    An awesome treasure hunting story with a perfect combination of great characters, good gameplay, and interesting puzzles. The pacing is very smooth and you will find some surprises near the end. What else is there to say? It’s a suburb game. Now go play it!

    All in All, for me this game is just absolutely great and amazing and I definitely recommend every1 that want to start the adventure with Drake to start from the first game as its just a must have and must finish the game in order to have 100% fun from other 2 parts of Drake's journey. Don't listen to trolls that say that the game is bad. The game is marvellous. Trust me and check it out. You won't regret a single minute sitting in front of a TV and enjoying the spectacular adventure.    … Expand

The thing is that those delays are caused by the AI having a better hand (literally) enemies have the precision of baseball players when it comes to lobbing grenades! I kept on failing because of the damage caused by enemy attacks, a very few shots and you're a goner. I'm not bad at uncharted, but it seemed a bit unfair at some points. I was playing on normal BTW. There are a few other things I should mention about these bumps, but i wouldn't want to spoil anything.

They had clear stories and simply steps wat to do next in the game. but Tomb Raider is like a game really have to get ur brain thinking and sovle problem. i cant really stick to this game for too long though ,maybe it s me idk.

    Aside from that the story feels amazing the easiest way that i can compare how the story make me feel is probably comparing it to movies like Indiana Jones or James Bond 007, is just excellent you have all your elements, the cute girl that you can't wait to kiss at the end, your older extremely likable friend, the bad guy, and an even badder sidekick bad guy. What surprised me about this characters was just... well how important they were for the story at times they even felt more important that Drake himself.
    This is done by an amazing voice acting from everyone it just really adds a really cinematic style to it, having such wonderful voices in a game where the story and the gameplay is just beautiful.
    The only reason why im not rating this game a 10 is just because it can definitely become repetitive at times and the difficulty of the game is pretty unbalanced i mean normal just feels extremely difficult at times, luckily it can be changed at any time without any loading screens in the middle this was an amazing option that strangely enough not so many games till now have incorporated, but...
    In conclusion an amazing voice acting cast, beautiful stunning graphics, and a gorgeous combination of gameplay that so many games before had tried and have failed miserably with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune having so many good things done the right way i can just let this game get a lower score than nine.

And it bothers me how Nate can get shot three times and walk it off, but its a video game so I guess I should stop complaining. The story was really interesting and at the end the story becomes friggin' I Am Legend because there are monsters trying to kill you and which was scary and fun. Overall, it was a great game.… Expand

    Played through the remastered version and it has a really great story and good voice acting, while the rest is pretty bad. It hasn't aged well in most aspects of the game. I've heard that this is the worst one so hopefully the others are better!

    Though this game to be rather boring and cheesy and uncreative. Maybe the fact that i'm playing it over ten years after release has something to do with it, but i'm playing older games every now and them, and it hasnt happened all that much.

    The final sum is far greater than the individual parts. Maybe you don't dig the combat or maybe the pop-in gets you down, but the overall package of an endearing story, outstanding score, great performances and fun gameplay should put this title on the top of your holiday wishlist.

    This game is one of the most immersive gaming experiences I've had this year, and it's definitely a great reason to own a PS3. The mix of platforming and gunplay worked really well and left me craving the next title in the series.

    By starting with a great control and camera system, building on that with excellent combat and a wonderful spin on Ico's platform adventuring, and then topping it off with a decent storyline, Naughty Dog has cooked up one of the most relentlessly entertaining, fat-free games to emerge in ages. Topped off with the most stunning use of the PS3's underused technical prowess yet, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is, for my money, the first must-have PlayStation 3 title.
