Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is considered as a masterpiece the best in uncharted series well for me it ain't as good as uncharted 2: among thieves. all were best but this didn't had that spark and much variation in surroundings as uncharted 2 had felt a bit disappointed at the end. but multiplayer sale covered up my sadness. it's awesome but not a masterpiece for me :D

As Uncharted 2 is my favorite game, I was disappointed in 2011 when the third installment of the saga turned out with much less character and creativity than its predecessors. Although the game goes above and beyond in story-line, mechanics, and cinematics, it lacks quotability and ingenuity. Still a great game.

I didn´t expect Uncharted 3 to be a massive improvement over its predecessor, because I felt there was a balance between the plot and the characters, something that Uncharted 2 did not. Both Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan are fleshed out, as we see the origin of their partnership when Drake was a young kid and Sully was a thief. It was a treat seeing them like that! And unlike Among Thieves, I cared more for the heroes than ever. Nathan, while sometimes naive, is always spirited, and finally, Sully appears more in the game, which means we get to hear his awesome voice and dialogue. Chloe Frazer appears more stable in his change of personality, and Cutter was surprisingly entertaining for a character that´s new to the franchise, although Elena doesn´t take a big role like in Uncharted 2. As for the villains, while Marlowe isn´t as threatning or cold-hearted like Lazaravich, I did feel hatred for his assistant Talbot, who always seems to get his ways around the heroes, as he sometimes steals the artifacts that the protagonists worked so hard for. Now obviously, there´s a ton of action, involving lots of the same aspects Uncharted 2 had, but this time, a lot of things are improved: melee combat has been upgraded, allowing a more satisfying and quicker punchlines, unlike the more slower fist fighting from before. There´s a a ton of enemies in the game, but not in the same level of Among Thieves, and that´s the best change of the game: there´s no excessive amount of enemies. You do get a ton, but it didn´t me turn off from the experience. The graphics have improved: lots of detail in the enviroments and the characters, especially during the forest in France. Multiplayer in this game is somewhat the same as UC2, but it does include a Buddy System, where you get tagged with someone, and if you die, depending on if your buddy is getting shot or not, you get an option to spawn next to him, like Battlefield´s Spawn system, only less liberating. However, it was funny to see that there´s Unchated TV, where you get to see some videos about the weapons for MP and some parody vids. Overall, I loved this game: I loved the characters, the action, the detail, and it was more enjoyable than UC2 for me. I can´t wait for the next Uncharted game! Expand

Not as revolutionary as Drake's Fortune and not as good as Among Thieves. Drake's Deception is kind of like Indiana Jones if Michael Bay was in charge. It has terrific graphics and epic set pieces, however the story is cliched and too similar to previous titles and the gun play becomes tedious and repetitive. Its still a very, very good game and better than any competitors out there.

The game was fun, but more or less I think it was just Uncharted 2.5 honestly. Not much changed, and it probably was just a "quick break out the third one to make a lot of money" or deal.

Needless to say, it wasn't a bad game. It didn't live up to Uncharted 2 "which was a solid 10/10 in my book" but it wasn't as good.

What I disliked or better said what failed to impress me was the gameplay. For reference: This was my first Uncharted game and I started here because it was recommendation by a friend and also available for just 15 Euros. In short I was amazed and slightly disappointing at the same time. The Uncharted franchise is huge, well know and sold tons of games. I expected something like the Tomb Raider reboot but more cinematic and more action orientated. I say it is a fitting enough description for the game for me. The story follows Nathan Drake and his friend / partner / father figure Victor Sullivan on a quest that could lead to uncover the legendary lost city of Iram which is called “Atlantis of the Sands”. On a sidenote: This is actually a city believed to really have existed. It was mentioned in various sources and historians / archaeologist still debate where Iram was located. Back to the game. As other parties are involved too it becomes a cat and mouse game and a hunt around the world. Also you see more of the backstory of the characters like Nathan and Victors first meeting. The story is well done and I praise the ideas, pacing and characters. Be it the main character, Sully or the antagonist I wont / cant spoil. I think this is excellent material for a good videogame movie adaptation (My second thoughts were that they will screw this up the same way as other franchises). From graphics and technical side it is also excellent. The character models were excellent and for its time it was truly amazing. The motion capturing and voice acting is close to being a Hollywood movie and did impress me. For the gameplay: I enjoyed the puzzles and think there were some good ideas. However the battles / fights were not my cup of tea. It is nothing that distinguish it much from other games. I would also like more room for exploration. In short I often rushed through fights to continue the story. I want to again mentioned that the fights are excellently crafted and the presentation is good. They somehow fail to win me over which is a bit strange as other similar games succeeded. Cant exactly pinpoint this. Overall this was a really good game and I see clearly why it became a hit and has a loyal fanbase. For me it is not entirely my cup of tea. I say it is a masterpiece that I find good not awesome and I am curious how much negative ratings I get for this here on Metacritic. Expand

The combat is far from anything interesting as it tells you which button to press and it's repetitive and slow. Nathan Drake, Treasure Hunter, Hopeless Romantic, Well Intentioned, Completely Gullible, Genocidal Maniac. This is a great game. from Drake's first bar fight to his last skitzoid episode and everything in between. Naughty Dog is a studio that has mastered the art of immersion. The gritty streets of London, the dust of south america and the sands of the middle east still feel like places i have been too rather than levels in a video game I just beat. This music, art, and character development keep me wanting more and more treasure hunting, "go to hell me", uncharted fun.

It is a great story full of cutthroats, and I was constantly waiting to be betrayed by everyone but Sully. The acting in this series is great and it continues in this chapter. The only flaw if there is one is that in stead ofthe game ending in some sort of epic battle it ends as too many Third person action games do with a Quick time Event (see my Tomb Raider review). Seriously I've chased this bad guy twice through sprawling cities and I can't even have the blessing of fighting him one on one, it's gotta be a mash 0 hit triangle to dodge and now punch punch punch. Oh well, the story is amazing, and the QTE's seem to still be a necessary evil in these kind of games.

The game play is not what I would call fresh, but the gameplay here has always been to drive the amazing story. You are still Drake still fighting off countless random thug type 3 in lots of pretty environments. bad guys and puzzles rarely mix in this game and that's for worse rather than better. The mass murdering of nameless thugs has gotten a little stale and just giving one some body armor and shotgun hardly seems like creative new ideas. A couple of chapters in you will have seen %95 of the bad guys you face in the game.

I love the settings. The streets as young drake, the pirate captured cruise ship, the airplane; this is where the game feels fresh and alive again. the game does a pretty good job of mixing in lots of flavor to each chapter. I especially enjoyed the escape of the sinking ship and the hallucinogenic fueled chase scene near the end. With some pleasant twists and turns the suspense and action hold up right to the end. More Elana would have been nice, but she still knocked her performance out of the park.

The game slows if only for a chapter or two in the castle setting, but is brought to life in the final 7 chapters or so. Over at Naughty Dog they really know how to keep it going. I do wish that the villains had been made a little more interesting, but really this is a hero's story and the hero is Drake. in the city of gold fighting flaming spirit demons in the form of thug number 27 with tricked out guns is pretty hella gripping. All of a sudden I wasn't some gallivanting hero, I was a mad man fighting for my life. That immersion is what I hope for in every action game I play, and Uncharted 3 delivers.

Uncharted three keeps itself alive with interesting set pieces and scenery. The gameplay remains tight if not cookie cutter similar to Uncharted 2 with few new additions. The multi-player game modes were fun. My wife and I enjoyed some of the couch co-op options and while I don't play a lot online I found the multi-player matches to be balanced and fun enough for me to spend an afternoon with them but not much more.

Overall this is an amazingly crafted game that doesn't let up. It's not as good as Uncharted 2, but then again what is?

    In Conclusion
    + Settings and Characters
    + Functional game play
+ hella gripping hallucinogenic fire demons

The graphics are improved and this can be seen in more detailed environments and characters. The characters still look cartoony and not at level with what we expect games to look now. There are occasional spots where low quality textures can be seen. The lighting and water effects though have aged remarkably well. Uncharted 3 suffers from many of the story problems of the previous games by telling a simplistic story but features still the same amazing characters. Nathan Drake, Victor Sullivan, Elena Fisher, all return and are more well acted and performed. The game tries to go in depth about Nathan Drake’s background but fails to dig deep enough. The main villains are bland and come to a weak closure. Uncharted 3 does not do very much to change the series formula in terms of gameplay but has made tweaks and improvements in a few areas. The melee combat which was there in others games but was often not very useful is fully utilized and expanded here to make for some great fights. The shooting controls are improved and handle much better. Platforming another staple of the series returns here and is better than ever and much smoother and easier to control. The gameplay does make regressions though such as more difficult puzzles that were more frustrating than fun and increased difficulty spike that led to unfair deaths. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is an overall fun game that suffers from technical problems and a lack of innovation.

The story and characters are about what you'd expect but are still pretty good. The story is pretty easily the best of the trilogy feeling just a bit more personal than 2s thanks to seeing young Nate. The characters are equal to 2, better than 1, and weaker than 4. While no one will ever beat Tenzen, Cutter was a good addition and the villains felt like they had more of a presence than 1 and 2s. Not enough Chloe tho :/
The gameplay is about as good as 2 with the only improvements being better combat and the gun fights felt a little more fun and challenging than before. Tho 4 is still better in this category as well.
The music is great like all the games, the performances are top tier like all the other games too. 3 for sure has the best theme for Drake too.
Can't say much about the graphics as a played the PS4 trilogy but from what I've seen it looks pretty good for a PS3 game.
This game holds the title for best set pieces. Only thing it beats Uncharted 4 in imo
Overall this is definitely my favorite of the trilogy, even tho it just barely beats 2. If you've played the first two you're really doing yourself a disservice by not playing it.

Uncharted 3, the final chapter of the series Naughty Dog on PlayStation 3 is very nice. This time there wasn't a surprise effect, as when I played it I already knew very well the series, after playing the two previous chapters, especially after playing Uncharted 2 that was the real change.

The plot of Uncharted 3 is fantastic, maybe not to the levels of the second chapter, but definitely higher than the first chapter. However the story of Uncharted 3 has its strong points, compared to the previous two chapters: the discovery of the past Nathan Drake, his meeting with Sully and the friendship that binds them, the unbridled passion that Nathan has for the danger , his relationship with Elena. The whole story feels more "human", than the previous stories. I also really liked the return of journeys of Sir Francis Drake, the references to Thomas E. Lawrence, and the fact that the ring of Drake plays a key role in the story.

As for the gameplay, there's not much to say. After Uncharted 2 is difficult to create something better in terms of gameplay. Despite everything, however, there have been significant improvements to melee combat even more fun and articulated, and in general to the characters, the way they move or react that are structured much better, seem more "alive". Personally I loved so much the crash of the plane, and the arrival in the desert of the Rub 'al-Khali, where in those sequences the gameplay has been pushed to levels virtually perfect. However a heavy criticism goes to longevity: obviously shortened, in favor of the multiplayer segment of the game. And I absolutely can not tolerate it.

The technical sector of the game is extraordinary. The graphic is perfect and has been significantly improved, although as usual, after Uncharted 2 is difficult to perceive the change.

Uncharted 3 is a fantastic game, amazing, and closes in a great way the saga on PlayStation 3. Unfortunately Uncharted 3 is a little victim of the second chapter and of the improvements it gave, among other things, the longevity of the game has been reduced in favor of the futility of the multiplayer, and this is unacceptable.

The story and the atmosphere is amazing. The music fits the adventuring theme of the game perfectly.
One of the best things in the game are the characters. Each and every one of them has charm, that fits the game. And the differences between them creates one of the best comedy situations during the playtime. The villains are a bit flat (they are just evil - no questions asked) but I believe that is the franchise-wide problem.
The gameplay is decent. The game forces you to change your weapon after you run out of ammo and I think it is a good decision. Thanks too that you can try out every weapon in the game instead of sticking to the just the favorite ones. I really liked that they reduced the amount of shooting comparing to previous chapters. There is more climbing and fist-fighting, which I think was a great decision.
Some may say the second one was better, but for me, this is the best Uncharted before Uncharted 4 came out. Maybe I just like a desert setting more than a mountain one? Maybe. Hard to choose between two so amazing games.

And even so it is a great technical improvement over the second game, I simply hate how Naughty Dog tries too push too hard on somethings that they clearly couldn't finish in time and ends up delivering half-assed mechanics to their games. Like the whole section of the starting from when Drake gets a horse up until the end. The horses movements were awful. And as you get closer to the end various bugs begin to pop up.

The storyline is not as as cohesive as it used to, and it gives the impression of being a mere excuse for offering the gameplay. In addition, I have not liked the fact that you do not to the desert till the last chapters of the game; this should not happen, taking into account the desert is precisely the cover of the game! The previous chapters are OK in general, but almost never brilliant; and the puzzles are extremely boring and tedious to me.

Still, it would be unfair not to give this game an 8 or a 9, since gameplay is fantastic as always and almost no game has better graphics than Uncharted.

However, any of the first three Uncharted games (which are the ones I have played up to the moment) can be considered a top-quality game in my opinion. As I usually say, a masterpiece needs more than just a very good gameplay and an Indiana Jones-like storyline; it needs truly idiosyncratic art and a more memorable storyline. Once I beat an Uncharted game, I always have that feeling of having played a great video game, but which will not leave a mark on me.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is a very good game that I go back and forth on when comparing this to Among Thieves on which I liked and thought was better at. I like Marlow and Talbot as villains, but their mysterious nature is never revealed clearly beyond being a ancient order. Talbot in particular never explains how he is able to manipulate or outsmart Nathan and his friends throughout the entire game and even at his death nothing is gained.

The visuals are still as impressive as ever. Still using 30fps, but still maintaining without much drop. It pretty much is 2 just in a different setting. Still great voice acting, good set pieces, barebones story, solid gunplay and cover and nothing really raises the bar. That's fine because the second was pretty good for what it was and playing it safe after achieving massive success from 2 was a smart move for Naughty Dog. I like Cutter in this game alot because he feels like the fan who gets to guest star in one of Nathan's adventures. The voice actor really nails his British accent and mannerisms.

The biggest issue I have now for the Uncharted series is not having the balls to kill off characters. In a scene where Cutter could easily have died by Marlow and her men, he instead just jumps and breaks his leg instead. Even when Sullivan gets shot in the exotic city, it was merely a hallucination by Nate when he drinks the djinn-corrupted water. The dialogue and delivery really makes the player feel like Nate is in over his head and should stop before something bad happens. Having this and bait the player into thinking someone will die and not follow through is incredibly ****

Uncharted 3 is definitely a blast to play and I would recommend people to check it out if you like a big dumb action movie. It's plot sucks, but its acting and setpieces are definitely fun to watch. The pirate ship, airship and cargo truck/horse trek is very wonderful to be apart of. The multiplayer is still not that great, but for fans and newcomers it might be a distraction. Very good game in the end.

Out of the four Uncharted games (so far, anyway), this one is the most uneven. This game has a few other technical quirks that were absent in previous games, mainly as a result of Naughty Dog's ambition. For example, while walking through enclosed areas, Nate will occasionally put his hand on the wall to stabilize himself. However, half of the time, this fails completely, and he just ends up putting his hand on, and propelling himself off of, absolutely nothing. The highs of this game far outweigh the lows, though, and it's exceptionally rounded out by a bevy of absolutely excellent puzzles and glorious, interactive set pieces. Expand

Up until this point in the game Naught Dog did an outstanding job of balancing shooting, platforming, and puzzles but abandoned all that for frustrating shooting galleries until the end. Expand

That being said, the game is stunning and ranks on the same level of the first game as far as overall enjoyment is concerned, but far below the second as far as overall enjoyment is concerned. Still, Uncharted 3 is a must-play and even though it doesn't come close to U2, very few other games come close to this one. Expand

What made me little bit irritated is show right joystick moves when gun-pointing. It's not gradually fluent, as expected. At the end of the game it definitely didn't bother me any longer.
Other control mechanics are great. Cover, melee fights, and many other.

The biggest knock that UC3 has against it is that its predecessor was UC2. The 2nd biggest knock is that it's kind of janky and the melee combat is highlighted but doesn't feel very good. The 3rd biggest knock is that part of the story starts feeling contrived and as unbelievable as a Michael Bay movie.

Some of the set pieces and missions will stick with you forever, and absolutely great character interaction including fan-favorite Chloe, and Cutter, one of my personal favorites of the series. Despite the unfortunate things UC3 doesn't hit the nail on the head, the sheer joy and evocative sequences and chapters and puzzles in this game more than make up for.

I mean it's not trash, but it's boring. I'm more into western mythology and history, which made this one boring to me.
The multiplayer however was just simply amazing, I loved playing it day after day, even well into 2012. Loved the KillZone Helghast characters you could pick for the villain side. Sadly the last good Uncharted.
