The Eye of Judgment

Eye of Judgment is unlike anything the gaming world has seen yet. Eye of Judgment is aimed at a specific audience so that doesn't make it for everyone.

Makes use of the pretty interesting technology from the PS Eye. Although it’s essentially a multiplayer experience, it stands out as the most different game in PS3 Xmas catalogue. [Nov 2007]

Somewhat of a niche game, The Eye of Judgment nonetheless makes the whole trading card game genre accessible and graphically entertaining.

As if card games weren’t enough of a niche market, a video game like The Eye of Judgment complicates matters by seeping into an even deeper crack within that crevice. But for what it’s worth, the game is a steal--especially if there’ll be more use to come of the packaged camera in the future.

Those like me that are a sucker for a card game are getting one hell of a deal.

A decent collectible card game that can be picked up by players of all stripes in a relatively short amount of time. The game’s mechanics as they relate to the eye itself can be clunky at times but the overall experience is a lot of fun online, against the game’s AI and especially against friends who want to have a traditional sit down battle.

It's not for everyone, but the game is certainly worth eyeing if you've enjoyed collectible card games in the past.

Eye of Judgment will appeal to a very, very select audience, but that audience will get a lot of enjoyment out of the title. I personally had a great time with it, although not everyone in the office had the same reaction.

It's the easiest way to indulge your collectable fantasy penchants and delivers a surprisingly approachable, completely unique PS3 experience. So go geek out.

I’m a big fan of collectable card games, but Eye of Judgment is probably the most fun I’ve had with one since Magic: The Gathering. It’s easy to get into, the games go quickly, and seeing your powerful monsters come to life onscreen to crush a foe is a dream come true for CCG fans.

The game gets a great deal right and brings collectable card games to the casual player, but there are a few things that really hurt it, like the short USB cable and a finicky eye that relies heavily on overhead lighting.

EOJ's longevity will depend largely on the planned release of new cards (building your own deck is crucial to the fun), but this is a solid start to a potential phenomenon. [Dec 2007, p.110]

The game, while not as deep as something like Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh (thanks to fewer cards), transcends the competition, thanks to the cool technology. You'll still look like a dork playing it, but don't deny The Eye of Judgment's addictive pull.

One for trading cards fans that have large wallets, Eye of Judgment is an entertaining and unique experience, but one that lacks any genuine substance to make it worthwhile for anybody else.

a game made for geeks. Even ignoring the steampunk and fantasy element, the whole process of collecting cards and doing battle with them is incredibly dorky, but to be honest, the game is so much fun to play and after about an hour of futzing around, fairly easy to understand that you'll take any lumps just to find someone to play a game with online.

It definitely deserves a chance, and we hope it gets one.

Addictive.

The game is actually an engaging card based battle game that requires a lot of strategy to win. I give a lot of credit to Sony for showing gamers out there how their new peripheral can be used to play good games.

I’m sure it won’t appeal to everyone, but go on, admit it; you kind of want to try it.

Although there are lots of areas to explore, there is too little to do. You can just swim, feed the fishes, pat your dolphin and stare at the ocean. Though the soundtrack is nice and game has a nice atmosphere, I would call my feeling of the game “bored” rather than “relaxed”. [Jan 2008]

It’s a neat little distraction and cool as a screensaver or distraction for those awkward dinner parties, but when compared to the real thing it’s boring, dull and the limited number of fish available make the cost far outweigh the benefits.

The game definitely passes, but it belongs to a niche favorable to genre-addict gamers.

If you’re a lover of card battle games, then this title is an absolute must – especially if you have mates to play it with.

Spreading out your map, setting up your PlayStation Eye, and getting your cards ready is a cool addition to the usual card-battle preparations, and in that context, the game is a real winner.
