    If you enjoy Nazi murder simulators as much as I do, you will love this game. The single player game is short but somewhat replayable as the difficulty levels affect bullet physics and how much the game handicaps you. The co-op multiplayer modes are fun and require teamwork. It is very difficult to follow the stealthy approach in this game, and if you aren't careful, you risk turning the game into a mediocre third person shooter experience. Setting traps, timing who you kill and when, and luring the survivors into your trip mines is extremely satisfying. The game performs a CSI style kill cam highlighting body parts in x-ray vision that you've nailed with your bullets. Testicle shots are included to much glee. All in all, great co-op game, good single player game. Recommended despite the stale WW2 setting.… Expand

Enemies are generally psychic: if they find a dead body, they are automatically alerted to your precise location. Shadow and darkness count for nothing.     Sniper Elite V2 is living proof that great gameplay trumps pretty visuals and useless gimmicks every time. If like me you are just sick of COD and all the soul destroying nonsense that comes with it, then give SEV2 a go. While playing it I was cast back into my PS1 and PS2 days, in a good way, I was deeply immersed by the gameplay and that is something that is sadly lacking in shooterSniper Elite V2 is living proof that great gameplay trumps pretty visuals and useless gimmicks every time.     GREAT GAME!!! Graphics are up to par, bullet physics are wonderful, coop is fun. Love the xray bullet cam. Simply awesome

    A change from the normal. Good graphics, some sound issues. Its not prefect,but extremely fun but in singleplayer & it's online multiplayer. A fun game for sure!

    Played this game on this console after I played the pc version and it's not even feeling as the same game.Graphics and physics are both of a different world so it seems...I'm sorry. Hail to the pc!

    Most underrated game of all time! I love the bullet time in Max Payne and the graphics of the likes of Max Payne and other tripple A titles, yet this game is far more appealing. The graphics are standard, and for a gadget buff that is a big acceptance, this game reminds me of the old Hitman games. You can have fun sniping, more then one way to complete the levels (map is free roam) thenMost underrated game of all time! The slow mo bullet time is amazing and I love that bullets can follow through two people with the slow mo view, also like the skeleton view. A great game and what a game is ment to bring is FUN! When I play this I don't think of trophies/achievements or even try to rush and play the next released game. Honestly I find this to be one of the best games on the next gen consoles. Yes uncharted and bioshock have great graphics, metal gear solid is an all time classic, but hands down if they released a sequel on the same day as the likes of god of war 4, I would buy this! All I ask for is more levels or a sequel. I stopped playing Max Payne 3 for this...BUY IT!!!… Expand

    A game of truly challenging trials, Sniper Elite takes your lust for blood beyond the enemy line and into their skulls (or balls if you're so intimidated). As far as stealth games go from MGS, this one strives to be different, with it's incredible physics system, awesome x-ray kill-cams and level design it is truly badass and snipereffic!

    You can do cool ball shots, use stealth to go on a killing rampage and you can invert the language to French. Win. You may end up killing Nazis in a sympathetic manner while getting cool clues about the origin of humankind. Win. You never die. Win.

    This is a fantastic game with very well done levels. Bullet kill cams never get old either. All this game needs is for publisher 505 games to step up and add tdm for console versions.

    Very fun shooter. The x-ray kill cams are cool. Graphics are good not great. The game is definitely worth a look if your in the market for a shooter.

    Excellent game, they developed what no one ever did right, the feeling of being a sniper, but not realistic enough for it to be boring. Pretty dumb some times but still very fun.

    The biggest frustration of this game is the lack of decent control customization, you can only choose between two controller configurations neither of which are very good. It is not possible to have the gun scope on L2 and the sprint on L3, you can choose one or the other.

    Luckily the player moves pretty fast when not aiming/crouching so sprint isn't really needed, so I just picked Layout B as this offers both crosshair at half press and scope on full press with L2 which is much more playable than with Layout A.

    Aside from that, this is a good game. The plot is simple but ok, though no one really plays this for the plot. It's a 3rd person game, but you have a first person view with the scope, so you essentially sneak around levels trying to get to decent snipe points and then pick everyone off and repeat. Once you complete a gunfight with a couple of dozen enemies, you move to the next checkpoint and start the next.
    The game has strong Spliter Cell vibes, which is great.

    Sniper Elite v2 is pretty hard to play fully stealthy due to the linear nature of the levels, you end up in a lot of gunfights with waves of enemies that you have to take out before progressing. The moment you kill one enemy they all know where you are, and you're pretty much stationary in snipe points and can't really sneak around due to the linear tunnel-like levels. There is a mechanic for masking gun shots with atmospheric sound but this isn't particularly useful when you need it, as enemies will see you quickly in gunfights with no obstacles to hide behind, and the sounds aren't there except for specific levels. There are only two levels that allow you to properly make use of sound masking, a church with a bell and a castle with fireworks. They were great, but sadly other levels don't really offer you sound masks, so you pretty much have to go loud on them.

    The game is fun and balances stealth with gunfights fairly well, but the game is essentially impossible to do completely stealth. Because there's no way to save manually and automatic checkpoints are very spaced out, sometimes you get hit and you die on the third wave of enemies and have to restart the entire gunfight.

    This keeps the game very challenging and means you have to really nail what you're doing to succeed, but some levels are just insanely hard and can get pretty frustrating sometimes as you can kill dozens of enemies, and move from one strategic position to another, but if the last enemy is hiding on a roof or behind something and you can't get him to show himself, you're stuck moving yourself into a vulnerable position and likely getting yourself killed and having to restart the entire level.

    So to summarize: the game is great but the levels are quite linear, and some missions are very hard due to the inability to remain stealthy or checkpoint/save after waves of enemies in gunfights.
    The missions are pretty simple (although I'd say more memorable in SE2 than SE3), and the default control scheme is disappointing with little options to customize (but Control Layout B is far better).
    One small thing to also note is the silenced handgun makes a lot of noise, and you even hear enemies audibly react to the noise, so initially I thought it was an unsilenced weapon, but the enemies don't actually seem to hear it s it does act as a silenced handgun.

    However, the game is still great to play and recommended. The PS4 version calling itself Remastered version is a bit of a joke as the game is almost identical to the PS3 version but it's still nice to have a ps4 port.

    It's worth noting, all of the issues I have highlighted here are fixed in Sniper Elite 3 (however the levels in SE3 aren't as memorable), also as the levels are open you can completely reposition and flank enemies or place yourself nearer to ambient noises to try to mask your shots.     Great game, very underated. It has great graphics, excellent bullet physics and is a nice change from other shooters on the market. It has great multiplayer modes, but could be better with more single player and multiplayer modes as the game can be finished very quickly. Overall a great game but needs more game modes like team death match etc.

    It is a wonderfull feeling when you execute a perfect headshot after measuring wind speed and bullet drop. You also get to see a slow motion bullet travel into your foes devouring their flesh and bones making you cringe in response. This game is amazing. It can be a bit linear at times but ignore it and hunt some crouts.

Sniper Elite V2 ISN'T a masterpiece, but still, if you like sniping the game will be fun for you. Unfortunately the sneaking is bad since all the mission maps have only a single path and you have nothing to lose by killing everyone, however, the snipingIts not like the developers of this game had great resources to create it, but I still think they did a good job with this disadvantage. Nothing beats the thrill of sneaking into a building, setting trip mines at the entrance points to cover your back, then crawling into an overlook to scout and pick off enemies from afar.     Very good game, but too short. Multiplayer is terrible and nobody plays it, Graphics are great and bullet cam is awesome too. This game is too easy (expect Sniper elite AI)

    I played this game after hearing about it by a friend that played it on PC. This game was so good I couldn't believe it. If you love WWII games than this is the one you should get. Great TPS with great missions and fun (those slow motion kill cams are great). I had a big struggle to plat this one, but I did it! :D Great game!

    I found the game to be filled with nice little touches that added atmosphere. The original version had muddy graphics, even for the time it came out. SEV2 has cool touches such as having bricks fall from the second floor of a burned out building (I actually jumped when it did that as I was being hunted by a team of snipers at the time). At one point I passed by a small fireplace clock lying on top of a pile of rubble but it was still ticking! Ash floated gently to the ground as I passed through a burned out cathedral, making my way to its highest point so as to eliminate a primary target. I actually stopped at times and looked around at the Gothic design of the building. I whispered "wow" on more than one occasion on that mission. Kudos to the developers for the extra touches they put into the game which includes the background noises of battle.

    While atmosphere can be very important to drawing the player in to the game, for myself, the number one rule is whether the game is fun. That is, do I find the missions I am sent on satisfying. I will forgive the game's bugs if I remember the game a year later to be fun and want to play it again. Over and over I have found the missions of SEV2 to be so. I am very pleased to have stumbled on a cheap copy of the Silver Star edition of the game which included all DLC perks including the assassinating of Hitler mission.

    Drawbacks - the control of the main character at times can be sluggish; especially if one has played smooth operating games such as those in the Halo or COD franchises. Once I got over that issue I was able to focus on the game. There were also moments when I thought I should be able to climb up onto an exposed floor while climbing up some rubble but wasn't allowed to do so. Then there would be other spots in which I was able to do so (which I appreciate the developers making this available at least at certain times). Lastly, and I know I am in a minority when I say this, I do not enjoy the "x-ray kills". In the PC version of this game a player is allowed to turn this option off. In the consoles versions it was not an option (fortunately it was made an option in the equally excellent SE3 - suggesting there were others who were not a fan). I look away or close my eyes just before the x-ray kill occurs. Obviously many would not see this as a weakness of the game and many have called it the defining feature. To each his own.

    SEV2 is a thinker's game that requires patience. I am 51 years old and do not have the reaction time (nor impatience) of a 17 year old player. Therefore this game is not for everyone. If a player gets impatient with having to sneak around and carefully pick off their targets, then they should probably play another game and get the urge to shoot everything that moves out of their system. Overall I would give the game an 8.5/10 but the scoring system doesn't permit me to do so.    … Expand

    This is one of the best games I have ever played. I really do not understand why more people don't play this game. The gameplay is so satisfying and it leaves you wanting more. slow motion sniping is totally awesome.

    Never before has a game so gruesomely represented the impact that 9.3 grams of lead travelling at almost one kilometre per second has on the human body. Thanks to this game's disturbing X-Ray Killcam, players are treated (subjected?) to a clinical view of each bullet passing through their target's vital organs whenever they pull off an especially good shot – and by 'good' we mean 'life-ending'. It's brutal, it's disturbing, and we're not quite sure how it got past Australia's over-eager censors. [June 2012, p76]

    Great sniping and robust multiplayer do a lot to offset the awful non-sniping sequences which there are far too many of. Rebellion and 505 should stick to the rooftops if they revisit this series.
