Even though there has been some strong competition, Skylanders is a wonderful example of pursuing substance over the flash of a few extra characters. At least I can continue supporting at least one franchise, knowing that it focuses on a progression of substance.

Vicarious Visions sets a new bar for the Skylanders series with Swap Force. They give you more characters, better level design, improved looks and a larger library of Skylanders to play with. It's definitely the best game in the series so far.

A classic recipe, elevated to a “gourmet” level: with Swap Force Activision produced a visually stunning game, an engaging experience, perfect for a father-and-son gameplay experience. And the statues are amazing.

Skylanders keeps getting better, and your budget for figures has to keep getting bigger.

The technology used in Skylanders games and the overall experience of the portal and the toys is great. On top of that, with Swap Force we have an awesome videogame that is more than ideal for young gamers and their parents.

Provided families can restraint their children’s desire to collect them all, Skylanders Swap Force not only offers a huge amount of toy and video-game, but does so at a reasonable price.

Despite the slightly higher cost of admission ($75 versus $60), and the addictive yet very wallet-unfriendly collectible aspect, Skylanders Swap Force is still a great game and a great value for the content and replayability you get right out of the box.

As a fan of the series and also as a father who's always looking for quality games for his kids to get into, Skylanders: Swap Force is easy to recommend. It looks great, it plays great, it's appropriate for all ages, and it's a genuine improvement on what the series has delivered in the past.

Skylanders: Swap Force is very good.

Swap Force is another winning entry in the Skylanders series, proving once again that games aimed at children can provide fun for those that detest them. Deep pockets will be required to get the most out of the game, but even the vanilla version still represents value for money.

Swap Force is not only a new chapter of the best-selling video game of all time: it is a genuine stroke of genius.

Skylanders Swap Force is a consistent step forward for the franchise, raising the bar of the family-oriented genre.

Skylanders Swap Force is probably the most complete and successful installment of this franchise for children from Activision. The possibility of combining different Swap Force figurines widen the options. Furthermore, we can even use our Skylanders Spyro's Adventures and Skylanders Giants figurines, and both would include playable options.

Developer Vicarious Visions doesn't change the winning team, but adds a rather interesting swap mechanic to the already interesting gameplay elements from its predecessors. The challenge is at times perhaps a bit too steep, but other than that this is once again a fine entry in the Skylanders franchise.

Again, Skylanders is interesting for kids, a big and great beat'em up adventure this time full of minigames and challenges. The 16 SWAP Force figures let to switch the bodies and form new characters. This is a wonderful idea for the varied gameplay.

More than anything else, Skylanders is just fun – but to get the most out of it, you'll end up paying the price of the game a couple times over.

Based on the great idea of swapping character-parts and -skills you can have a lot of fun with the new Skylanders. Provided you are willing to spend a lot of money for the new creatures. But if you do, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful and entertaining game for the whole family.

Swap Force is the best game in the series to date, has a lot of content to offer and covers a wider range of audience. Even experienced players will be lost in the rhythm and variety that sometimes looks like a marriage between Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. You need a serious amount of money to make the most of it, but at the same time, when you decide to buy another Skylander, you know how much value it represents to your own adventure on the television.

SWAP Force is in many ways a surprise. It remedies a raft of the series’ biggest issues whilst adding its own twists.

Skylanders SWAP Force is clearly the best episode in the series. The new SWAP Force figures represent a good addition in terms of fun and gameplay, the graphics are much better than in GIANTS, and there's also a lot more variety inside every levels. The only problem is still the same though: everything is done to make you want to buy new figures again and again... and buying them will cost you a lot!

If Vicarious Visions has proven one thing with Skylanders Swap Force, it's that the toy-to-life genre is showing no signs of becoming another ephemeral fad. The game takes the series to a new creative peak without compromising the level of fun and charm that has helped Skylanders attain the status of global phenomenon.

SWAP Force is a terrific game that offers so many new things to keep the series fresh. A great and humorous story, colourful environments, deep campaign and swappable characters make this a great game you shouldn't miss.

Yes, SWAP Force could prove to be the most expensive thing you buy this holiday season (and that’s including a PS4 and launch games), but it’ll pay out in hours of playtime with children or non-gamers who are turned off from gaming’s penchant for violence.

After expanding the stable of available figures with two-piece toys, it's clear that Swap Force's best asset is its versatile delivery of fun. It's not limited by the M-rated audience gaming typically caters to. Kids, male and female gamers of all ages, and even my SO can find something to like in Skylanders and everything to hate in the virtual killing fields of Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto.

Time is running, and Skylanders now has some competitors to fight with. The new weapon of the brand is called SWAP Force. With its new figures to combine, the game takes a fresh start. Variety is expensive though: you'll have to buy again and again to avoid to be frustrated. Even with a certain amount of new features, the adventure keeps being very straight forward. But it's the most interesting episode anyway.

Arguably, a triple A game made for kids, a solid product that's fun and entertaining but not that unforgettable.

Just like earlier titles Skylander Swap Force is firstly a well made platform game fitting for most age groups. It’s sorta simple and the level design is nothing special but the use of figures and creative thinking is great. Even though the solution to the games puzzles is sometimes obvious.

Even if you just own the Starter Pack models there’s still hours of fun to be had levelling up in the returning Arena modes.
