Oct 27, 2010For gamers who don't enjoy the realism from EA's Skate, Shaun White Skateboarding delivers an enjoyable break from reality. However, hardcore fans of the genre may not find their fix here. Still, Shaun White Skateboarding adds its own unique twist as well as much needed innovation to the skateboarding genre.

Oct 26, 2010In skating terms, this game's success is more than just dropping in on a vert ramp for the first time without eating it face-first. Shaun White Skateboarding has some tricks in its back pocket, and I look forward to it expanding its arsenal in the future.
-
Jan 9, 2011A different take on the skating world: wide exploration and customization of the environment make this game interesting if you're looking for something different from the usual grinds.
-
Jan 10, 2011Ubisoft deserves credit for its effort to create a different skating experience. Bending rails and ramps in succession feels like being on a morphing rollercoaster ride, and the shifting cityscape is a treat for the eyes. Unfortunately the rest of the game plays it safe with missions and features one could find in any other skating title.

Play UKDec 25, 2010Despite all its flaws and its ludicrously over-thought setting, this is actually a pretty enjoyable game. [Issue#198, p.90]
-
Dec 20, 2010Though it lacks the direction to make itself a pure arcade skateboarding title it has enough humour, self-awareness and interesting gameplay to be worthwhile.
-
Dec 20, 2010Just don't expect it to be all skate parks and vert ramps, this is a third person story-based game with you at the centre, it just so happens that in this case you're balancing on a bit of wood with four wheels attached.
-
Jan 11, 2011A nice skateboard game that can't compete with SKATE, but it's way better than the latest Tony Hawk game. The gameplay is cool and unique at the same time, mostly because of the shaping features in the game.
-
Dec 20, 2010From stunning snow-capped mountains to grey, oppressed city, Shaun White keeps inspiring guys like the one you control in the game, who has the ability to change the reality by doing some tricks with its skateboard. Shaun White Skateboarding's premise is great, but fails to deliver due to boring mission-based gameplay.
-
Jan 12, 2011Shaun White Skateboarding is a very unique skateboarding game, with an arcade style which is much more about platforming than about sport. Skateboarding fans will have mixed feellings. But its light story, accesible control and fantasy make it an interesting option for those who know well what to expect from this title.
-
Jan 13, 2011Shaun White's latest appearance isn't good enough.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKDec 28, 2010It's better than Tony Hawk: RIDE, which isn't really saying much. [Christmas 2010, p.90]
-
Dec 20, 2010But the platformer/puzzle aspect flops and the overall feel of the game drops a few notches on the overall appeal meter.
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaJan 24, 2011Shaun White Skateboarding just feels a bit limp. The skating itself is competent but not tactile, and trekking back to a skate shop, rather than just an in game menu, to buy moves wears thin after a short while. Kudos for finding a way of distinguishing the game from its competitors, but Skate 2 is still chairman of the board. [December 2010 p75]
-
Jan 12, 2011Quite an enjoyable skate game⦠if you're a total newcomer to this genre. This is neither Tony Hawk nor Shaun White Snowboading, but a weird mix of both games.
-
Jan 5, 2011In terms of technical performance, this game is fairly solid. But you aren't getting the simulation style gameplay found in the Skate series or even the all-arcade style of the Tony Hawk series.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKDec 25, 2010Much like Laser Quest this is theoretically brilliant but a disappointment in reality. [Issue#51, p.109]
-
Dec 20, 2010Shaun White Skateboarding tries valiantly to inspire players by allowing them to transform grey settings into colorful scenes, but the mediocre gameplay, boring quests, and poor visuals ultimately leaves things feeling decidedly uninspired.
-
Dec 20, 2010Shaun White Skateboarding is a genuinely disappointing endeavor that had potential to nab the Tony Hawk fans that simply didn't graduate to Skate.
-
Dec 20, 2010It's a title only advisable for those who did not like EA's Skate and liked the style of Tony Hawk games.
-
Feb 24, 2011There just isn't a whole lot going for Shaun White: Skateboarding. It's a game that's, at best, bland and uninspired, and stuck in the past. With the quality of skateboarding titles that are out today, this game just doesn't do enough to stand out from the crowd.
-
Jan 6, 2011The psychedelic skateboarding premise is fairly interesting, but the actual skating mechanincs are bland and boring. The game quickly becomes more about navigating the terrain than actually pulling off tricks, so skateboarding fans are better off sticking with Skate 3.
-
Dec 20, 2010Shaun White Skateboarding isn't worthy of your time, your patience or most importantly - your money.
-
Oct 28, 2010Quotation forthcoming.
-
Jan 11, 2011It is obvious that the team behind this game had some sort of crazy fun vision, but the execution is lacking to say the least. Sometimes you just have to accept that some games are genuinely bad.
-
Dec 20, 2010Skate taps into a state of mind. Shaun White is just a succession of awkward obstacles posing as challenges in a game with bad controls and clunky animation.
