The titular character Scarygirl is an abandoned child with a tentacle arm who dresses like a pirate, and is haunted by a strange man in her dreams. She sets out into the world to discover the meaning behind her bad dreams, but Scarygirl is hardly helpless, as she has a tentacle-powered arsenal up her sleeve.

    During her adventure, Scarygirl will be aided by her friends and guardians from the graphic novel, Blister the giant octopus and Bunniguru the mystical, kung-fu rabbit. Her friends and an ever-improving arsenal of combat moves will help her face down enemies like the adorably deadly hedgehogs of the Owl Woods, the violent Goat Clan along the Old Man Mountains, Hairclump spiders deep in the Stinky Swamp, and the most enemiest enemies of all: the clueless crossing guards around Bad Town!    … Expand

    The mechanics are solid, the quest is meaty, the graphics and animation are beautiful, and the world is a pure pleasure to spend time in. Plus, we're talking about a game based on the voyage of discovery of a badass little girl with an octopus for an arm – what's not to like?

    An artistic, entertaining game that doesn't quite reach a necessary level of accomplishment and refinement. The adventure feels a little too repetitive and the extra moves don't necessarily add depth, as they feel more cosmetic than anything else. The control and camera can be iffy and even frustrating, and you may feel overmatched. But I urge those who enjoy the art style and presentation seen in available media to give it a try.

    If you're a fan of the Scarygirl TPB or of Jurevicius in general (see I can refer to him without making his name possessive) then this game is right up your alley. Highly recommended for any awkward teenage gamers with just the right sense of style, or if you're looking for a cheap, creepy diversion and the local side show has rolled up its bearded lady for the season.

    Scarygirl really isn't worth the $10. I expect that if you're a loyal follower of the Scarygirl franchise and of Jurevicius, then you'll probably get something out of it.
