MX vs. ATV Untamed is a solid game, but one that will eventually lose its hold on you. If you haven't played an offroad racer in a while, this is the one to get, but don't hold your breath for something that will entertain you for hours and hours on end.
  2. MX vs. ATV Untamed is a fun off-road racing game that will tide you over until the next racer comes out, which looks like it could be a while.

If anything, it's these human train wrecks that help separate Untamed from other racers out there. The only game that comes close in terms of pure racing mayhem is probably Flatout: Ultimate Carnage.
  4. Custom Events can be fun, and a few of the game's minor features are nice, but in the off-road racing landscape, MX vs. ATV Untamed just doesn't rev our engines.

The franchise makes its next gen debut but with some out of date visuals, especially if you look at other off road racers already released. Even so, the diversity of events and good track design can still offer some “good old fashion” fun. [March 2008]
  6. MX vs. ATV is a pretty good game. It has high points and low points, but sadly, being average doesn't really cut the mustard in the industry today.
  7. Yes, MX vs. ATV Untamed is more of the same. But at least it's a lot more.
  8. Untamed ends up being plagued by far too many seemingly small problems that, on their own, wouldn’t be game-killers, but here, because there are so many and they’re so frequent, end up sucking the fun out of the game.
  9. MvA doesn’t do anything wrong per se, it’s just not the game that’s going to bring new fans over to the sport of motocross.
  10. If you are waiting for some innovation, then you are probably better off in waiting a year.

"Motorstorm" does off-road racing better than this. So do "Dirt" and "Sega Rally Revo". [Jan 2008, p.94]

The game's not realistic enough to satisfy sim fans...and it's too realistic to be as fun as Rainbow's previous games. It tries too hard to be a jack-of-all-trades, and masters almost none.
  13. If you didn't get weened on the genre by Rainbow Studios' previous installments, there's little reason to start now with better offerings already available elsewhere.

In just about every way "Motorstorm" bests this one, particularly in the feeling of intensity.

Nothing about MX vs. ATV Untamed really sets it apart from other off-road racers.
  16. While Untamed may be the first step into the next generation territory for this franchise it feels like it showed up about a year too late to be acceptable.
  17. It ticks all the boxes for those fans though, with only the slightly underwhelming visuals likely to disappoint.

Untamed is resting on its laurels and it shows. [Apr 2008, p.82]
  19. As for the gameplay, it’s a mixed bag, ranging from the hilariously entertaining to the mind-numbingly boring.
  20. As a motorcross game MX vs. ATV Untamed would have been nice to play. But the quality of the game has really been lowered by adding vehicles like buggies and monstertrucks. These could better have been removed from the game. When it comes to graphics this game can't cope with its competitors. It's a disappointing feeling to have a game in your possession which feels like an oldy.

There might be loads of courses, events and vehicles, but most of them aren't that entertaining, while some are downright frustrating. [Issue#164, p.89]
  22. At the heart of things MX vs. ATV: Untamed is an ambitious title whose execution fails to live up to the lofty standard set by previous entries in the series.
  23. All in all, MX vs. ATV Untamed is not a product you want to spend $60 on. In fact, it's not even a product you'd want to spend $20 on. The bottom line here is that this is a very poorly done game, that suffers from uninspired gameplay, poor track design, redundancy, and a lacking online component.

    A spectacularly unpretty game. [Apr 2008, p.108]
  25. A passionless racing cocktail that’ll fail to start your engine.

I have played through both MX Unleashed and MX vs ATV unleashed and MX VS ATV is just as fun with a few more features and events with I have played through both MX Unleashed and MX vs ATV unleashed and MX VS ATV is just as fun with a few more features and events with slightly improved graphics. The controls are very good for veterans of these games and as for new comers, you just need to practice because it is a big learning curve at first. The bottom line is this game is fun. Full Review »

Strictly amature Hour! If there is a worse game on the PS3 I've yet to see it. I bought it because I liked the first person view form Strictly amature Hour! If there is a worse game on the PS3 I've yet to see it. I bought it because I liked the first person view form the bikes, but each time you crash it resets to a third person view and you need to press the select button 6 times to get it back! Too late for the next corner. Graphics and frame rate are so bad it looks like a very early PS2 game. Don't get me started about the physics! Full Review »
