Well my vote is actually 9.5 but there is no option for that so i will round up. This game is extremely fun to play, but what would be even more fun is if there were different heroes you can play with, for example a physic or a flame bender or something.

OK I have played the game and I loved it. But the people marking it down because of what? The controls are not inverted? You can change that via options menu as always. A dull city, Its had an explosion in it! People arn't going to be happy and there's not going to be rainbows everywhere. Still great graphics, great gameply, its repeatable and fun

The game revolutionizes open-world platforming by letting you scale and climb any structure with seamless and rewarding controls. I've had more fun just running around InFamous from roof-to-roof than I've ever had driving around Liberty City in GTA4. Brilliant Sucker Punch!

Amazing game, there are a lot of missions to do but you can choose to stick with just the main missions. Lot's of power ups and powering up your powers. Graphics are an 8.5 at best but the game play makes up for it in gold. You can easily climb anything without fear of falling off and eventually fly! Reason for my giving it a 10 is because it's pure FUN!

I really had my doubts about this game after playing the demo, but god was that doubt misplaced. After finishing it with all side quests done and most skills unlocked (didnt get the melee because the lightning power is just so great i couldnt help using it) in ONE sitting, i went to bed, slept 6 hours, then started it anew going for evil. Writing this, all i can think about is how much I really had my doubts about this game after playing the demo, but god was that doubt misplaced. After finishing it with all side quests done and most skills unlocked (didnt get the melee because the lightning power is just so great i couldnt help using it) in ONE sitting, i went to bed, slept 6 hours, then started it anew going for evil. Writing this, all i can think about is how much fun this game has to offer, wich in my opinion is rare, as i find most game "entertaining" rather than "immensly fun" and i cant wait to dive back in Cole's shoes.Collecting "dead drops" add to the storyline in a unique and amazing way, blast shards arent a chore to collect unless you ran past every single one and want the trophy after you finish the game. What i do feel is missing on the other hand is the split in the story when you play as good vs evil, it doesnt really have THAT big of an impact on it, except for some parts wich i wont spoil, and playing evil, might not make a difference in a relatively "good" dialogue from Cole. But the sidemissions are relatively varied, as you get new ones from time to time, but the some goes on throughout the game wich can be a bit tedious (im looking at you "counter-surveillance) and i wish i could give a 9.5 because of that. But the game itself seems more about "here have these powers, now go have fun and do whatever you like" wich i found incredibly liberating, compared to games like gta iv wich gives you the same premise, but annoys the hell out of you with that god awful phone ringing all the time "where are you, get over there now, i have a job for you, bla bla bla". Then there are those who say "it sucks because after your done theres nothing else to do!" well how many games do you get lots of new content to do after you complete the game thats not repetitive and uninspiring? And should that Cloud over the fact that you just completed a game that had amazing gameplay, intuitive controls (ok so gliding should have been X+X so you could use lightning and such easier while flying) fluid storyline, amazing characters that really got my attention, i even stopped to listen to those propaganda shows on tv every time, great graphics, and inventive narrative? i rest my case Expand

The free-roaming is such a great feel, and with being able to climb buildings, jump across to other buildings, upgrade and gain new powers, it's a unique and fun game and kicks spider-man in it's behind! It has a great story-line that has a nice little twist which I only guessed right at the end of the game in the final boss battle. The fact that it has a morality rate (karma) of being good or evil will change the outcome of the game and changes your powers completely and makes you at least play the game twice to get a feel of being good and then evil. It's good how each karma status gives you different effects on your power upgrades, such as good being able to give you energy and health, and evil being more destructive. inFamous also includes a nice set of trophies that aren't silly things like killing 500 pedestrians and killing 1000 enemies, but more like completed all stunts and traveling on a train for 2km, etc. It also has trophies as you progress through the story line, a set for being good and set for being evil. I would say it only has one flaw, and that's not being able to go inside buildings, the whole game is set outside, but it would of been better to be able to go inside buildings and trash the place instead of just blowing up cars. I would have definately given this game a rating of 10 if it included being able to go inside buildings. Expand

9.5! In Hd this title really shines. Unlike titles like Prototype that have no substance to the atmosphere and look like they take place in a flat textured vacuum inFamous gives a better sense of distance and height than any other game I can think of. Fighting enemies is very fun because the main character acquires many awesome electricity based powers, such as Shock Grenades which cause massive explosions and stick to enemies so that they become the center of the blast, Megawatt Hammer which is a power that lets Cole fire electricity orbs that act like rockets and by the end of the game he can create a lightning strike from the sky which can kill any enemy when they get into contact with it. He also gains powers which help him traverse through the whole city in the game faster, such as the induction Grind which lets him grind on rail tracks, wires and the like. I've been able to enjoy the game very much but there are a few problems with it. Like for example, the game has no new game+ option so you can't complete the game and restart from the beginning while retaining all your powers. After completing it you're left to explore the city and complete the side missions, get all the dead drops and blast shards, assuming you haven't done those before completion but most of the side missions aren't very fun and trying to acquire all the dead drops and blast shards get boring real quick. It blends some of the best known features in the world of consoles and does it well. You have the rural climber aspects of games like Prince of Persia and Assassin's Creed. You have the Force powers style of Star Wars games. As your character evolves you get in to rail grinding at high speeds like SSX and traversing city-scapes at high speed like in Mirror's Edge. You will even get an ability to semi fly after jumping. You fight gangs and bosses, and accomplish missions like in Crackdown. All of this in an open sandbox city full of unique looking and unique voiced citizens, who dynamically change their dialog and actions based on how you behave in the game. For example, if you are a champion in the city, and the people love you, they will seek you out to help heal those who have fallen. Cheer you on and give words of encouragement. Take pictures of you as you go about your task of making the city safe. You will get powers to aid and help the citizens of the city. The controls are tight and responsive. All you need to do is think it and your hands seemingly get you there with ease. Simply amazing how smooth and in control one feels when playing. Even things like finding collectables become fun as you get a radar that locates them (there are over 300), powers to help you get to them, and a reward of more power as you find them. The fighting is fluid. You can stomp a baddy fist to boot, zap him from mid range, blow them up with grenades, toss them like leaves in the wind, throw cars at them, deflect their own explosives back, or even slow down time and snipe them from afar. There is a lite cover system implemented as well. The story is told through missions, npc contacts, cut scenes, television news stories, outlaw radio stations and hacked communication dishes. Voice acting is superb and convincing. You actually like the guy you are playing, an important bond in any sandbox game. A must buy game for any video game fan of the above mentioned games. A very good start for a IP we are sure to see more out of. Some sort of territory war DLC add on would make this game complete. A rare 10 out of 10 from me. Expand

The combat is fun and there are several ways to handle any combat situation (the game rewards you for being creative). The story is a little lackluster, but the immersion is there. As perfect as it seems at first glance, I do have a few complaints. First off, sometimes the motion animations are a little wonky, this isn't a huge deal but sometimes I wish Cole would just stand up straight. Some of the sound effects (namely the running sound effect) are also a little... odd, especially the footsteps sound effects (which unfortunately you hear all the time). Those complaints are very forgivable and only skindeep. My biggest beef with the game is it penalizes you for playing realistically. Upper level skills are unlocked via the karma system, which only has 2 options, play as a saint, or play as the devil. If you try to take the middle road the game slams you by not letting you unlock the highest rank abilities. While that might not be a problem for some, for me it kind of hurts the immersion of the game. In one mission I might want to kill the guy who just called me a terrorist, but that doesn't mean I want to kick puppies later on, however the game gives you no choice if you want those amazing shock grenades. There should be an option to be neuteral and still be a badass. Those flaws aside, the game is ridiculously fun to play. The side missions are diverse and plentiful (and fun to boot) the story missions can be challenging at times but overall the game is at a pretty low-moderate difficulty. A very fun game none the less, if you have a PS3 you won't be disappointed buying this game. Expand

This game is addictive and fun, period. It isn't perfect in terms of graphics and some controls, but the sheer joy I get playing it makes up for this. To me, that's what makes a great game: something you think about playing even when your not.

I can't say how I'll like the ending or the remainder of the story, but after 9 or so solid hours of playing, I can say that inFAMOUS has bumped Crackdown a notch down on my "superhero sandbox" games list. Although the power leveling system isn't as robust and interesting, the format of the game has really kept me going. I agree that a few of the side missions are a bit tedious (following the courier comes to mind), but what game HASN'T had tedious side missions of some sort? The replayability is a tiny bit above Grand Theft Auto 4, with a whole set of new missions for an "evil" playthrough, Cutscenes, while sparse graphically, are still interesting and fit the story perfectly. The "comic book" feel is really prevalent and I enjoy it thoroughly. Combat and controls are EXCELLENT. While still challenging when thirty people are shooting at you from surrounding rooftops, it's easy to feel like a superhero when you do a charged drop on a group of bad guys and spin around shooting bolts of electricity everywhere. Incredibly satisfying too. Honestly, I'm a bit wary of people who have rated this below a 7.5. Not that I don't believe that they have their own opinions, but out of all of them, Eurogamer is the only site that has had any sort of justification other than "I don't like it, it sucks" generalities and various nitpicks. The story works well also. I do have a couple of complaints with the slightly cartoonish, repetitive enemies, but I believe this has always been Sucker Punch's style, and it doesn't take much from the overall quality of the game. He gains superhero like powers from the explosion,in which you can decide whether to use for the good,or for the bad,in other words be a goody two shoes and help others,or be a selfish bastard and blast everyone and everything in your site. Its great that you have a choice, but what pisses me off is that what it means,is that you need to play through the game twice,in order to get the full use of the story. Which is ok for most gamers, but not for me,See i'm not a great gamer im ok,but im the kind that will die eight times in one mission, just to work out what to do,lets just say im a trial and error gamer. Its a bit of a wrong start for me,i call myself the HarshGamerCritic but the first review i give,i'm not harsh at all,oh well. One thing that annoyed me,is once you have saved the game whenever you put the disc in to play again, there's no start menu so it just loads from the ps3 main screen, all the way into gameplay, which i wasn't aware of when i played it for the second time,i put the game in the console, went to the toilet with the game manual since i was still getting used to the game controls,so obviously i was shocked when coming out of the toilet,to see cole getting his irish ass handed to him by a bunch of reapers. That's the only thing i can really moan about, well apart from Cole's fat annoying fat friend Zeke and his ugly girlfriend trish, who was unfortunately dropped from a high storey building by kessler,in which i could have saved her but why would i,its not like she even gave Cole any sex since the explosion selfish bitch. Infamous is an action game that puts the emphasis on the ''action'' rather then faffing around. The game is so fun because there is so much to do and the game is so long. The story is rather subtle because, you know, it gets in the way of the ''blowing **** up'' part of the game. So what do you do the entire game? you electrify, fry and zap everything that's in your way. The missions are varied so you usually don't do the same thing twice. The dialog is simple enough and has it's charm. The comicbook style of the game is very cool and the characters are interesting. The fact that you can choose how to play the game(evil or good) isn't that importent, except that you get a few different powers and moves and the story barely changes. of course, it's stil a nice touch. The free roaming in the game is really fun and intuitive. I really think ''Sucker punch'' did a fantastic job with this game, just as they did with the sly games. OK, lets start with the bad. It does look a little dated, the graphics are a little ill-defined and could use some better anti-aliasing. Some of the voice acting is a bit stereotypical/dodgy and sometimes the "grab onto anything" parkour movement system can be a little iffy, sometimes you can't grab something you want to because you miss by a half inch and sometimes, like when you're trying to dodge a bulletstorm by jumping off a roof... you'll grab an edge and end up full of lead.

HOWEVER, everything else about the game is brilliant - the parkour movement system (other than the odd foible) works very well, you can climb pretty much anything - you're a free-runner who can leap off tall buildings without suffering injury AND you can shoot "lightning bolts" out of your hands... what's not to love! So it's a little dated now, playability-wise it's probably still one of the best games going - it's just, well, fun - lots of fun. Definitely a game every PS3 owner should have - I'd give it a 95, closer to 10 than 9 anyway :)

A brilliant game that lets you choose if you want to be a hero, or one of the bad guys. The gameplay and the looks of the game are solid, and it is great fun to just walk/run/climb/hover through Empire City, whether you are saving or electrocuting its inhabitants in the process. Obtaining new powers is fun, and the XP system forces you to prioritize which you really need.

Minor faults haunt this game though. For weird reasons I randomly dropped through the level or was able to climb on unclimbable objects. It is also hard to feel real sympathy for the characters, as they are not quite recognizable.
Still, playing the game is great fun, and highly suggested if you own a PS3.

Amazing game. Awesome storyline. Gameplay wise is fun and platforming is great (better than assasin's creed). Graffics are decent for a sandbox game with fascinating details everywhere. You will never see the ending coming, trust me.

I also really enjoyed the soundtrack, it changed whether you were good or bad and it had a very industrial/city feel to it, tip of the hat to Amon Tobin. The side-quests are actually fun which I think is a rarity in today's games. I especially liked the parkour/timed satellite uplink missions. In retrospect, yes the karma system is a little flawed, it is very black and white, but that didn't detract from the fun I had playing both sides several times. Expand

Its really fun, the story is also AMAZING! You will really like Cole as a character.. I highly recommend this game to everyone with PS3!

They were short, and not very time consuming so that was nice, so in a way, it evens out. Story: A take on the superhero genre, InFamous is set in the fictional Empire City, in which a massive explosion causs the rise of superpowered beings known as Conduits. Cole MacGrath is one of the people who turned into Conduits. Armed with electirc abilities, Colde must deal with the threats on the city in the forms of three Conduit factions, led by the aging Alden Tate, the deadly Sasha, and the mysterious Kessler. Now, he can choose to be either the city's savior, or its greatest enemy. - InFamous tells an amazing story of a man with superpowers who can decide if he wants to be a hero, or a villain. While the first half of the story is very good, the second half is simply outstanding, packed with emotional tones and enjoyable action mixed together so well. The characters themselves are well-written as well, from protagonist Cole to his BFF Zeke to the antagonists. 9.5/10.

Graphics: InFamous uses an in-house engine. Honestly, the game is somewhat inferior to other 2009 titles such as Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2. Thankfully Cole's powers look so good and the city, while a bit too brown and grey, is very well-designed. 8.5/10.

Sound: Top-notch voice acting alongside matching soundtrack done by the joint effort a five-man team. Some of the sound effects are rather hit-and-miss. 9/10.

Gameplay: Think of GTA mixed with super-powers of thunder and lightning. Throughout the game Cole will learn and upgrade more abilities. For the most part, it work, great. The boss battles are fun and well-designed to test the player. Platforming works very well and is easy to execute. There are, however, some AI problems, and the city itself feels somewhat lifeless at times, compare to GTA IV and AC2. 9/10.

Lasting Appeal: Story is 20+ long and has good/bad paths, so players can replay the game at least twice. There's a lot of side stuff to do after the main quest is over. Plus, it's just fun to be dicking around in Empire City. 10/10.

Verdict: Powered up with huge playground, enjoyable gameplay and powerful story, InFamous is a superb title in Sony's PS3 family, and a must-own for sandbox-genre or comic book fans.
    Final Score: 9.2/10

Then as the story progressed I understood of why everything was happening and during the last cutscene, my mind was blown. It was genius. Anyways, without any spoilers, inFamous is a fun game as you take the role of Cole Macgrath and it is up to you to defend....or destroy your city. The choice is yours, have fun.

Who doesn't love to have the options of just going crazy on the baddies or the civilians/police.. and now we get to do it using the most electrifying moves ever invented. It takes a while to get all the powers, but that is when it truly gets entertaining. Having evil and good powers and endings make you want to play it over and over again.
