Looks okay, plays okay, but psychic enemies with perfect aim, almost boring powers with ludicrous limitations, and poor facial animation during 'talk' scenes bring it down hard to the level of 'crap original xbox game from 2000'.

What I do not like, is the idea of, essentially, TO NEVER LET YOU REST A SINGLE MOMENT OF THE ENTIRE GAME! I really...REALLY hated that the game won't let you rest a moment and enemies will keep trying to kill you over, and over, and over, and OVER again!!! I was almost killed right when I woke up at the hospital, and when enemies would die, more would appear to replace them! However it's a good thing that you can shoot at them from the distance even though the controls are bothersome, but won't take long before you get used to it. However...WHY NO ENERGY BAR?! The idea of not putting an energy bar wouldn't be bad if the enemies wouldn't keep stalking the hell out of you and give you no rest, especially since this game isn't an fps, but an action, and even if not a bad idea in total in this game just ruins the experience, because you'll NEVER know when you're going to die exactly, not because of the colors fading, but because you're not gonna understand how much damage you're receiving, and in an free-roaming action game that information might be useful. This might be more of a rant, but as I said I DID like this game a lot: the fact you're a superhero is great, the powers are great and splitted in good and evil trees, the controls are loose but works just fine. I really couldn't stand the constant fightings in the street and the senseless idea of not giving you an energy bar...and if the energy bar isn't that much of an issue, the enemies will still be an issue and even if you try to escape, they all seem to be sniping with their rifles (no kidding, their aiming is very precise: you'll take more damage on the air than being on the streets). Maybe it's just my bad luck and I'm very sorry I couldn't rate this game higher: if you can pass over the flaws this game is going to be a lot of fun, but if you can't well I say..."if I want constant fighting to upgrade my skills in order to go on with the story and fight better, I'll play an RPG". Infamous is a great superhero game. Just understand that you are designed hero. If you get that and you like electricity as a power then, this is the game for you, otherwise you will hate this game. Really it comes down to that.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a good game, just can be hard to get into. Its got fun moments, but the need to recharge powers can get old quickly. I personally had a hard time getting into it, and it occasionally felt like a chore to finish certain missions. However it also has great moments, and the ending is great (although their are two). Definitly rent it, i just personally didnt find it to be fantastic. Expand

Constantly spawning enemies instantly dodge your electrical shocks, so combat feels like the game is trying to resist its own mechanics in lieu of fun or challenging gameplay. Upgrades are just Metroid-vania type time wasters which don't really make your abilities more interesting, and progress on a two short trees based on your alignment. So, basically, the only choice you get, gameplay wise, is when to acquire your slightly upgraded abilities. Still, its a pretty fun game. Its just not something you'll want to spend a lot of time on. It plays like a mash between The Force Unleashed, Crackdown, and DC Online. The side quests are so bad, they might as well be MMO grind missions. I just found it to be a waste of time, and that the mechanics were designed to slow you down. Expand

InFamous may have some character inconsistency and the missions may be slightly repetitive, but it earns huge bonus points for having a creative premise, truly awesome abilities, fantastic gameplay and an unforeseen twist ending that pays off. For any Playstation owner, this is a must-have!

    Graphics:The graphics are great.

Notes:Some of the side missions are boring and there is some poor level design in some main levels. In the end inFamous is a good game but I think a price drop should be expected before you buy it.

Kind of surprised that this held up as well as it did. The traversal is still pretty fun and the combat is neat. It is irritating that every enemy takes a lot of hits to bring down, but it did lead to some harrowing moments for sure.

My only real problem is the way the story is presented. Not the actual story itself-that was excellent. But the most important story beats are restricted to storyboard cutscenes that are told in the past tense. Cole explaining what happened with his Will Arnett knock off voice completely ruined some real important scenes.

Also, I was not prepared for the amount of escort/protection missions. Those did get pretty frustrating.

Overall, I did enjoy it and I'm looking forward to giving the sequel a try.

I earned 100% twice in just a week and I found myself finding nothing else to do. There is a massive lacking to how your actions actually affect the city itself. At the most, the citizens will react to your karma, but the city will not change. This really disappointed me. Karma is also underdone. This game must be great to people who loved the "variety" of missions in MMOs. (In fact, Infamous feels a lot like City of Heroes, with its handful of enemy clans and catwalks in the sewers missions.) Personally, I wanted to do more than just mash buttons; I seldom felt engaged with the story at all. Mostly I was just following waypoints.

The much-lauded moral choices are so blatant and black-and-white as to be laughable. You are explicitly prompted to choose the good or evil action. In addition, while there are some differences in the side missions, the power upgrades you receive, and the epilogue, there is really no difference in the storyline depending on your choices. In fact, the evil path oftentimes makes no sense.

Ultimately, though, the biggest problem is the gameplay. In addition to all the random glitches, like invisible barriers that prevent you from proceeding forward on seemingly flat terrain, cameras that move for no reason, and so on, much of the gameplay and control is poorly designed. For example, while in aim mode, the right stick is used to pan and tilt, but all but the basic attack are on the right face buttons, which means that you cannot aim and fire at the same time with anything but the basic attack. Oftentimes the supposedly more difficult foes are far easier to defeat than the random footsoldiers, frequently due to the fact that they are much larger and the aiming is so twitchy.

That said, it's not a bad game, it's merely mediocre. But it gets incredible reviews, and I really just don't understand why.

While not wholly original, the game's blend of open world ideals with superhero powers is done with a verve that’s unsurpassed, and the mesh of platforming and freeform combat is uniquely satisfying.
