Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

A labor of love in every sense, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock dares to try something new and succeeds in spades.

A quest mode that is fun and interesting, diverse set lists, and the inclusion of new power abilities will definitely find a special place with fans of the series.

As with every music game, it's all about the replay value, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock has plenty of that. I can't say enough good things about the quest mode, Party Play is shaping up to be more user-friendly than ever, and the amount of competitive and co-op gameplay options are all great fun.

Still the game re-ignited my love for the genre and I have already shredded far more hours into this one than I had planned to invest.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is a great game with a brilliant soundtrack. You can play the Quest mode where you have to unlock special powers to destroy a monster that has locked away the demigod of the Rock. Completely nonsense story wise, but nice to play. If you like the franchise, you can't miss this one.

Although it is not forgiving with those not going to devote themselves to the cause of saving the god of rock, this Guitar Hero may save the franchise from decline.

Better than expected, the new Guitar Hero offers a great rock/metal tracklist (2112 from Rush will be long remembered). It's a great return to the roots of the saga, yet it lacks some true innovation, which we'll be seriously expecting for in the next future.

By and large, in Warriors of Rock you've got Guitar Hero 5 with a goofy story mode and a metal-heavy soundtrack. For some that will make for a very appealing iteration in the series, but for others it doesn't offer a compelling enough reason to shelve Guitar Hero 5 in favor of Warriors of Rock. I'm sure you know which camp you belong to and can make your decision on the game at this point.

Warriors of Rock offers a great rock/metal tracklist to Guitar Hero fans. The inclusion of new power abilities and new gameplay styles are a great return to the roots of the saga.

With any music, the tracks included are what can make or break a game and those featured in Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock really bring out the best, and whilst the new approach taken by Activision and Neversoft doesn't really change the core gameplay much. The music helps make this one of the most compelling Guitar Hero games to date.

While the game doesn't bring anything especially exciting or new to the franchise, it's still a really great Guitar Hero game to play.

Overall, I liked the new direction of the franchise. Don't fool yourself though, this is still Guitar Hero, through and through.

Elsewhere, the full offering of Guitar Hero 5's multiplayer and party play modes return, as do the addictive mini-challenges for each track (there's even a challenge which uses the Quest powers).

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is probably one of the best games of the series, alongside Guitar Hero II and Legends of Rock.

Better than perhaps expected, Warriors of Rock offers a great setlist, a nicely corny story mode and a smooth quickplay mode.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is a new beginning for this franchise. After years of casual tracklists without any sign of the good, old, rock, Guitar Hero is once again funny and addictive. Play it and love it.

Fans of the Guitar Hero series can safely continue on with Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. The game that started the revolution might not be as revolutionary as it once was. However, it's nice to see the formula changed up to embrace the characters it has established over the years.

Guitar Hero is a franchise that's showing a lot of age. Plain and simple.

If you're still a fan of music games, Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is another good, solid entry into the series. However, while Neversoft is in a position of releasing serviceable titles every year, but don't seem capable of making real fundamental changes to how the game is played.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is a very strong attempt to do something different. With the many, many Guitar Hero games that have come out recently, this is a pretty good thing. And yet, even with all the differences, it still feels like the same old hat. Perhaps a huge fan of the series would get more enjoyment from yet another game where they can strum along to some of their favourite songs, but for others, it may just be more of the same.

It doesn't break any new ground, it just offers up a solid, fun, and still addicting package. If you're a long time fan, Warriors of Rock is a no brainer. If you're a newcomer, just be aware of what you're getting into.

Of course with all the features already being touted about for Rock Band 3 this year it's hard to think of Warriors of Rock as a really progressive entry into the genre, but I think there's enough fun to be had with the on disc content to make it worth a look for everyone that already generally enjoys these types of games.

For Guitar Hero fanatics, Warriors of Rock will be well received, although it may struggle to restore interest for those who stashed their guitars away after World Tour.
