  1. Smash Hits was just the breath of fresh recycled air that we needed.
  2. Guitar Hero: Smash Hits is an incredibly fun game and one that will definitely keep you entertained until Guitar Hero V arrives.
  3. Foo Fighters, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Ozzy, Pantera, Slayer, Queen, Rage Against the Machine, Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age, The Police, Lamb of God, Nirvana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Boston, Incubus, Ratt, Alice in Chains, Deep Purple, Wolfmother, Stone Temple Pilots, and Rush...I simply cannot resist.

Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits is actually a bit too expensive for the relatively small track list. You might wonder why it's a totally new game in stead of downloadable songs, furthermore it's all too similar to Guitar Hero: World Tour. However de game is still strong and once you start to play you don't want to stop singing or drumming, because these new features are now possible.
  5. Guitar Hero: Smash Hits is the perfect compilation disc to pick up if you have missed some of the other editions along the way.
  6. If this is your first Guitar Hero experience, then indulge. If you've played these songs before, wait for new songs in the upcoming Guitar Hero 5.

Guitar Hero: Smash Hits is a great collection of tracks from previous games, re-constructed for the current evolution of the genre. If you are ok with that, and don't mind swapping discs to access this content, then do not hesitate purchasing it.
  8. Guitar Hero: Smash Hits is not a new game. It's old stuff with new bits.
  9. With Guitar Hero 5 shipping in less than three months and being touted as “the ultimate Guitar Hero experience”, it’s a bit odd that Activision decided to offer this compilation on a retail disc instead of going with the downloadable content model. Still, any fan of Guitar Hero won’t overlook the fact that you can now play the most popular tracks of the franchise with more than one instrument and won’t hesitate to add the game to their game collection.
  10. Smash Hits does absolutely nothing to advance the GH brand in any way, but if you’ve long since packed up your PS2 it’s a great way to get your hands on some old-school favorites.
  11. Guitar Hero Greatest Hits doesn’t add too much to the GH franchise when compared to World Tour, Metallica and Aerosmith, although its pleasant cosmetics, made of cartoon-style characters and colorful effects, and a well-known control system are a guarantee. Either you are a huge fan or have never played at GH before, this is your meal of the day.

Magnificent for those who are new to the series. [Issue#182, p.74]
  13. Smash Hits is certainly not for the die-hard GH fan that probably already has all the releases from which the song list was culled; however, for those who got their feet wet in World Tour, this is a great revisit to songs from earlier releases now configured for entire bands to play.
  14. Smash Hits is just a glorified track pack, but at least it's a damn good one.

It would be a tough buy decision for a series veteran, but is a more than recommended acquisition for those who want to jump into the music genre.

Game has a great setlist that has everything from alternative rock to metal. Mastering all the instruments takes time but is very rewarding. Full Review »

The soundtrack on this one favors heavy metal music over any other genre, especially as you progress to the later stages of the campaign. All of the songs here appeared in previous Guitar Hero Games. I guess that's why they're "Hits". Full Review »

The graphics are great on this game, but the good old classic appearance on Guitar Hero 1, 2, 80's and 3 are much better.

Remember that Guitar Hero 1, 2 and 80's don't exist on Playstation 3, so i think it was very positive that they made the Greatest Hits setlist on this console.

You can have much fun with this game, especially with your friends!
