While it presents itself as a racing game, the title's real heart lies in its details. It's a game that makes good on the promise of its PS3 predecessor, and restores a soul and energy to the series that has been missing of late.

The simplification of the GUI, the easier, faster and better career mode and the inclusion of a bigger deeper online component make GT6 one of the best in the series.

There is something to be said for the thrill of thinking you could feasibly put hundreds of hours into this game and still have new cars to unlock. Replay value here is through the roof, but if you didn’t get that into playing it the first time, it might not be for you.

It remains a mammoth achievement because fans can tell, within seconds, just how much TLC has been put into this production. Into every GT production, in truth. That’s what separates this franchise from any other and if you know cars and racing, you’ve been saying this for years. And I’ve got your back.

Gran Turismo 6 is a nice evolution over the previous chapter, Polyphony has learned how to deal with the interface and has upgraded the physics and the handling of the cars. Gran Turismo 6 is an over-ambitious, huge, sprawling, messy masterpiece. It has its highs and lows. It has its perfections and its flaws. Sometimes it’s annoying. Sometimes it’s infuriating. But most of the time it’s simply the best driving game you can buy.

There are a few things here and there that can become nagging at times, but for all intents and purposes, Gran Turismo 6 is a fantastic racing game that fans of both racing and the series should check out.

Gran Turismo's biggest weakness is its inconsistency. Its best parts are so great that it's shocking to come across elements that are so far below standard. Still, many of its faults are purely cosmetic. Where the rubber meets the road, it's still fantastic.

Gran Turismo 6 is an improvement over its predecessor. The career mode has received a better structure, the physics are more realistic, the loading times are shorter, etc. It's everything you could expect from a Gran Turismo game, including a severely incompetent AI and disappointing damage mechanics.

If you're keeping your PS3 and are looking for a good, casual racing game, you could do a lot worse that GT 6. If, on the other hand, you are moving to a PS4 and/or are looking for a good hardcore racing simulation, give this one a pass.

Gran Turismo 6 is the game GT5 should have been. The biggest annoyances have been ironed out, it's made huge improvements to its physics and with an abundance of cars and track it warrants keeping your PS3 plugged in for another year or so. Even if it only is to experience the future patches, because Gran Turismo 6 is not yet the game Polyphony promised it would be.

In its fundamentals, Gran Turismo 6 is still the best simulation racing game on consoles. The visuals bring the game to life, but the audiovisual cracks in the ceiling are becoming noticeable. If you can accept certain limitations, as well as the fact that the game will need a few updates, you'll keep your PlayStation 3 plugged in longer than you might've thought.

Gran Turismo 6 is the best in the series, but it's not perfect. It's as good as it gets in terms of racing games on the PlayStation 3; no game comes close in terms of car count, track variety, or handling physics, even if the vehicle sounds are still off.

Gran Turismo 6 is a true success even if the game still tows some flaws like the lack of damages or the dull AI, the work done by Yamauchi-san and his team on the car behavior and the tire grip is just staggering. The grip is more accurate than ever and the slightest mistake sends you to the side. The time variations are brilliant as they introduce night driving, making the knowledge of your track a crucial point. The last big hit on the PS3, Polyphony Digital gives us a very good Gran Turismo which should seduce players with its massive content and its serious gameplay, more than a game it's a love letter to cars.

Gran Turismo 6 is a title where opinions will differ. There are a few changes, but overall it looks like Polyphony choose quantity above quality. The cars and their sounds seem like a copy paste from Gran Turismo 5, but the loading times and a few challenges are refreshing enough to keep you playing.

Gran Turismo 6 is a nice farewell for Sony’s ageing hardware, as the company begins to move to the new generation of console gaming.

GT6 offers a roster of cars that borders on overkill, a wide variety of tracks and tried and solid gameplay. Despite some minor flaws it is simply the best racing experience available on the PS3.

Gran Turismo 6 feels like a last-generation model car with premium parts. It's certainly no slouch, but there's only so much room left for improvement, where an upgrade would finally mean moving to the most current edition.

It is fundamentally not an innovative package, and hopefully Polyphony Digital will decide to make a few significant steps towards the future next time. But this is an enthusiast’s dream and very much the game that series vets have always wanted it to be. A slightly rusty old banger perhaps, but also the most reliable motor in town.

Gran Turismo 6 is a big and expensive DLC for Gran Turismo 5, a game strictly true to itself, firm in its silly idiosyncrasies, with some technical issues and yet full of passion for beauty and extraordinary magnificence. As usual , this is not the The Real Driving Simulator, but a game with substantially effective DNA which is further refined here. Great to drive.

Polyphony's latest may be burdened by familiar shortcomings, but Gran Turismo 6 reaches its greatest heights yet as a driving simulator.

You should definitely pay attention to Gran Turismo 6, even though there's a new PlayStation on the market. GT6 may not have some key features present in the previous installment, but right now it's the most versatile, rich and interesting console racing game. There are some minor issues, but all in all, it will keep you entertained for dozens of hours (mainly due to tons of content and a great new driving model). It's a worthy farewell to the PS3.

It makes me think of what Luca di Montezemolo said, as he rated Fernando Alonso’s season in Formula 1. “My eight is worth a ten because it’s a score I give as an incentive.” He was speaking of brilliance when handed imperfection, and GT6 deals with aging hardware and limited time, when trying to deliver on near limitless ambition. So I give it an eight, as an incentive to push on from here and deliver on the promised potential.

There is plenty to do and plenty to explore in this racing world. For content alone Gran Turismo 6 pulls ahead of its competitors. Stunning graphics will keep you guessing which system you’re actually playing on.

There are more cars, granted, and the feeling of speed and tinkering with vehicles is as good as ever, but that's to be expected given how little has changed. Don't get me wrong, Gran Turismo was already the top of the heap when it comes to hardcore console racing simulations – the additions presented in Gran Turismo 6 just push the top of that heap a few feet higher.

At first sight, Gran Turismo 6 looks like an updated version of its predecessor. But as soon as you take the wheel, this episode drives you to a whole new world of racing sensations.

Gran Turismo 6 is the epitome of this series at its most base; it lacks any substantive new features, yet is more committed than ever to its original vision.

Accomplished as GT6 is, the team will need to revisit some fundamentals if future iterations are able to stand wheel arch to wheel arch with the Forzas of the world. Indeed, the prospect of how the developer may be willing to evolve the franchise for PS4 is a riveting one. But knowing Polyphony Digital, that's a few years down the road yet.

It's not a huge leap forward, and is slightly overshadowed by the launch of next-gen systems, but there's enough content to keep petrolheads busy until the inevitable PS4 sequel.

As good as the series has ever been. The franchise is almost always a safe bet and they won't let anyone down with this installment. Gran Turismo 6 doesn't really introduce anything too new, but it will give you little snippets of fun to offset the tension that can accrue over hours of playing a serious racing game where every turn could make or break the race.

Playing it after experiencing Forza Motorsport 5 makes it feel like, well, going back a console generation. The mechanics and features are as impressive as ever, but now that we’ve seen what cars can look like on the current generation of consoles, it’s hard going back. Gran Turismo 6’s problems are baggage the series has been carrying since 1997; the second you thunk into a wall at 200 kilometres per hour and drive off scot-free, or hop into a belching V8 that sounds more like a wheezing milkshake maker, the glass shatters and the illusion breaks with it. But...it’s not hard to see why this series is deservedly regarded as one of the best of its kind, and this one is no exception.

With Gran Turismo 6, Yamauchi adds some features without really listening to his fans. The new variable weather and daytime work in a great way and the brand new physics engine is more realistic than ever, but the lack of a good damage system and the infamous “bouncing effect” are still big holes in such a great franchise.

Gran Turismo 6 is an enjoyable game and a truly interactive car encyclopedia. The number of cars, events and locations is really impressive, but old problems are still there. Ridiculous damage model, weak AI and a tons of low quality cars make the title very far from that level of perfection that Yamauchi promised us in recent years.
