Dec 6, 2013As ever, the depth of the game is truly breathtaking.
-
Dec 9, 2013Gran Turismo 6 becomes a must-have for those who really love cars and driving. Yamauchi has created a piece of art, where every sound, model, engine or circuit are extremely realistic. Player, are you ready to be a driver?
-
Jan 2, 2014Overall, Gran Turismo 6 is the Pièce de résistance of this series that boasts great graphics, flawless gameplay and a perfect swansong for the PlayStation 3.
-
Dec 13, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is the best driving game of this last generation.
-
Jan 31, 2014With this iteration you have something which although better with a steering wheel is equally playable with a Dualshock 3, a crowning achievement for the team. Gran Turismo 6 is something that will keep folk entertained for hours of in-game play over years of real-time whilst we wait for something bigger and better.
-
Dec 23, 2013With Gran Turismo 6 Polyphony Digital delivers a complete, truly new and massive racing game that will keep you occupied for many months.
-
Dec 12, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is certainly the most complete game of cars available on the market.
-
Dec 12, 2013While it presents itself as a racing game, the title's real heart lies in its details. It's a game that makes good on the promise of its PS3 predecessor, and restores a soul and energy to the series that has been missing of late.
-
Dec 12, 2013The simplification of the GUI, the easier, faster and better career mode and the inclusion of a bigger deeper online component make GT6 one of the best in the series.
-
Dec 11, 2013There is something to be said for the thrill of thinking you could feasibly put hundreds of hours into this game and still have new cars to unlock. Replay value here is through the roof, but if you didn’t get that into playing it the first time, it might not be for you.
-
Dec 11, 2013It remains a mammoth achievement because fans can tell, within seconds, just how much TLC has been put into this production. Into every GT production, in truth. That’s what separates this franchise from any other and if you know cars and racing, you’ve been saying this for years. And I’ve got your back.
-
Dec 10, 2013Gran Turismo 6 finishes what Gran Turismo 4 started. It's not a revolutionary game, but one that improves everything and adds a lot of content.
-
Dec 9, 2013Polyphony Digital keeps polishing its series, with a game that becomes more accessible, but still very deep. There's room for improvement, but as far as PS3 goes, Gran Turismo 6 proves that your "old" console still has a lot to give.
-
Dec 9, 2013Gran Turismo 6 isn’t perfect, but it’s frighteningly comprehensive.
-
Dec 9, 2013It's the best form a Gran Turismo can take and could be a fitting conclusion to 15 years of Real Driving Simulation. Now, the only thing that has to happen is for the "Driving" part of this equation to evolve into "Racing".
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 isn't perfect, but it's still the best videogame out there for driving enthusiasts. It's what Gran Turismo 5 should have been.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is a nice evolution over the previous chapter, Polyphony has learned how to deal with the interface and has upgraded the physics and the handling of the cars. It's a pity that the series still lacks in the AI and collision departments, but the content is king and GT 6 has plenty of it.
-
Dec 6, 2013As a foundation, it's certainly more stable than its predecessor - and as a way to explore the thrill of four wheels it is, despite its many faults, exceptional, brilliant and pretty much peerless.
-
Dec 6, 2013While Gran Turismo 6 isn’t as groundbreaking as it’s predecessor on the PS3, it’s still a worthy addition to any GT fans library.
-
Dec 6, 2013While some small flaws and occasionally dated features edge it closer to deposition, Gran Turismo is still the king of racing.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is a beautiful racing simulator that values the art and science of the race over the drama and theatrics that often make racing so appealing. While the game lacks in certain areas, namely in their complete lack of real collision dynamics, the overall racing experience is one of sublime enjoyment.
-
Dec 6, 2013A massive, passionate game and a fitting final lap for the PlayStation 3.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 rights almost all of the wrongs of its predecessor to deliver one of the most expansive, beautiful and enjoyable racing simulations ever seen. If only the AI and damage modelling were better, this would be the perfect racing game.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is an over-ambitious, huge, sprawling, messy masterpiece. It has its highs and lows. It has its perfections and its flaws. Sometimes it’s annoying. Sometimes it’s infuriating. But most of the time it’s simply the best driving game you can buy.
-
Dec 19, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is the best way to salute the old generation and the fans, from Kazunori Yamauchi and the Polyphony Digital team. A summary of all that has been GT in last 10 years.
-
Dec 17, 2013There are a few things here and there that can become nagging at times, but for all intents and purposes, Gran Turismo 6 is a fantastic racing game that fans of both racing and the series should check out.
-
Dec 11, 2013Gran Turismo's biggest weakness is its inconsistency. Its best parts are so great that it's shocking to come across elements that are so far below standard. Still, many of its faults are purely cosmetic. Where the rubber meets the road, it's still fantastic.
-
Games Master UKJan 14, 2014Bigger, better and slicker - GT is back, but it's brought some of its old foibles with it. [Feb 2014, p.67]
-
Mar 4, 2014In some ways GT6 feels like a robust expansion pack, but there are enough general improvements and additions that you'll find this release makes GT5 obsolete. A fine return to form at the tail end of the generation.
-
Pelit (Finland)Feb 13, 2014Gran Turismo 6 continues the familiar path, not taking any risks but delivering solid, fun driving experience. Standard cars still really need a major update though. [Jan 2014]
-
CD-ActionJan 10, 2014GT6 might have seemed dead on arrival – it’s built for an 8 years old console and even if it looks great for a PS3 game, it can’t even be compared to Forza Motorsport 5 in terms of visuals. But the key to Gran Turismo’s success is its wonderful driving model. There was no better driving game on Sony’s platforms and there won’t be a better one on PS3 ever. [01/2014, p.54]
-
Jan 6, 2014Gran Turismo 6 is an improvement over its predecessor. The career mode has received a better structure, the physics are more realistic, the loading times are shorter, etc. It's everything you could expect from a Gran Turismo game, including a severely incompetent AI and disappointing damage mechanics.
-
Dec 19, 2013If you're keeping your PS3 and are looking for a good, casual racing game, you could do a lot worse that GT 6. If, on the other hand, you are moving to a PS4 and/or are looking for a good hardcore racing simulation, give this one a pass.
-
Dec 18, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is the game GT5 should have been. The biggest annoyances have been ironed out, it's made huge improvements to its physics and with an abundance of cars and track it warrants keeping your PS3 plugged in for another year or so. Even if it only is to experience the future patches, because Gran Turismo 6 is not yet the game Polyphony promised it would be.
-
Dec 17, 2013In its fundamentals, Gran Turismo 6 is still the best simulation racing game on consoles. The visuals bring the game to life, but the audiovisual cracks in the ceiling are becoming noticeable. If you can accept certain limitations, as well as the fact that the game will need a few updates, you'll keep your PlayStation 3 plugged in longer than you might've thought.
-
Dec 10, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is the best in the series, but it's not perfect. It's as good as it gets in terms of racing games on the PlayStation 3; no game comes close in terms of car count, track variety, or handling physics, even if the vehicle sounds are still off.
-
Dec 10, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is a true success even if the game still tows some flaws like the lack of damages or the dull AI, the work done by Yamauchi-san and his team on the car behavior and the tire grip is just staggering. The grip is more accurate than ever and the slightest mistake sends you to the side. The time variations are brilliant as they introduce night driving, making the knowledge of your track a crucial point. The last big hit on the PS3, Polyphony Digital gives us a very good Gran Turismo which should seduce players with its massive content and its serious gameplay, more than a game it's a love letter to cars.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is better than its predecessor and a very good racing simulation.
-
Play UKJan 16, 2014The best driving sim on PS4. [Issue#239, p.62]
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaMar 3, 2014Without a doubt the best GT in the series thus far, but held back by aging game design and time-delayed DLC features. [January 2014, p70]
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jan 23, 2014THE racing package for every PS3 owner. Although there are dips in overall quality, it still offers tons of content and is simply fun to drive. [Issue#238]
-
Jan 21, 2014Gran Turismo 6 is a very good racing game that simultaneously improves upon its predecessor and fails to live up the high standards set by the series.
-
Dec 27, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is a title where opinions will differ. There are a few changes, but overall it looks like Polyphony choose quantity above quality. The cars and their sounds seem like a copy paste from Gran Turismo 5, but the loading times and a few challenges are refreshing enough to keep you playing.
-
Dec 23, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is a nice farewell for Sony’s ageing hardware, as the company begins to move to the new generation of console gaming.
-
Dec 19, 2013GT6 offers a roster of cars that borders on overkill, a wide variety of tracks and tried and solid gameplay. Despite some minor flaws it is simply the best racing experience available on the PS3.
-
Dec 18, 2013Gran Turismo 6 feels like a last-generation model car with premium parts. It's certainly no slouch, but there's only so much room left for improvement, where an upgrade would finally mean moving to the most current edition.
-
Dec 16, 2013It is fundamentally not an innovative package, and hopefully Polyphony Digital will decide to make a few significant steps towards the future next time. But this is an enthusiast’s dream and very much the game that series vets have always wanted it to be. A slightly rusty old banger perhaps, but also the most reliable motor in town.
-
Dec 16, 2013Some pop in and loading issues aside, Gran Turismo 6 represents a return to form for Polyphony Digital.
-
Dec 13, 2013As a driving simulator, Gran Turismo 6 excels at bringing you an unparalleled driving experience, but as a racing game it falls short in a variety of ways that while still good, hold it back from being a truly great modern console gaming experience.
-
Dec 12, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is a big and expensive DLC for Gran Turismo 5, a game strictly true to itself, firm in its silly idiosyncrasies, with some technical issues and yet full of passion for beauty and extraordinary magnificence. As usual , this is not the The Real Driving Simulator, but a game with substantially effective DNA which is further refined here. Great to drive.
-
Dec 12, 2013Polyphony's latest may be burdened by familiar shortcomings, but Gran Turismo 6 reaches its greatest heights yet as a driving simulator.
-
Dec 12, 2013You should definitely pay attention to Gran Turismo 6, even though there's a new PlayStation on the market. GT6 may not have some key features present in the previous installment, but right now it's the most versatile, rich and interesting console racing game. There are some minor issues, but all in all, it will keep you entertained for dozens of hours (mainly due to tons of content and a great new driving model). It's a worthy farewell to the PS3.
-
Dec 10, 2013It makes me think of what Luca di Montezemolo said, as he rated Fernando Alonso’s season in Formula 1. “My eight is worth a ten because it’s a score I give as an incentive.” He was speaking of brilliance when handed imperfection, and GT6 deals with aging hardware and limited time, when trying to deliver on near limitless ambition. So I give it an eight, as an incentive to push on from here and deliver on the promised potential.
-
Dec 9, 2013There is plenty to do and plenty to explore in this racing world. For content alone Gran Turismo 6 pulls ahead of its competitors. Stunning graphics will keep you guessing which system you’re actually playing on.
-
Dec 9, 2013There are more cars, granted, and the feeling of speed and tinkering with vehicles is as good as ever, but that's to be expected given how little has changed. Don't get me wrong, Gran Turismo was already the top of the heap when it comes to hardcore console racing simulations – the additions presented in Gran Turismo 6 just push the top of that heap a few feet higher.
-
Dec 9, 2013At first sight, Gran Turismo 6 looks like an updated version of its predecessor. But as soon as you take the wheel, this episode drives you to a whole new world of racing sensations.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is the epitome of this series at its most base; it lacks any substantive new features, yet is more committed than ever to its original vision.
-
Dec 6, 2013Accomplished as GT6 is, the team will need to revisit some fundamentals if future iterations are able to stand wheel arch to wheel arch with the Forzas of the world. Indeed, the prospect of how the developer may be willing to evolve the franchise for PS4 is a riveting one. But knowing Polyphony Digital, that's a few years down the road yet.
-
Dec 6, 2013It's not a huge leap forward, and is slightly overshadowed by the launch of next-gen systems, but there's enough content to keep petrolheads busy until the inevitable PS4 sequel.
-
Dec 6, 2013As good as the series has ever been. The franchise is almost always a safe bet and they won't let anyone down with this installment. Gran Turismo 6 doesn't really introduce anything too new, but it will give you little snippets of fun to offset the tension that can accrue over hours of playing a serious racing game where every turn could make or break the race.
-
Dec 6, 2013Playing it after experiencing Forza Motorsport 5 makes it feel like, well, going back a console generation. The mechanics and features are as impressive as ever, but now that we’ve seen what cars can look like on the current generation of consoles, it’s hard going back. Still, it’s hard to fault the game for being released too late and it remains another thoughtful, expertly crafted racing experience. - See more at: http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2013/12/06/review-gran-turismo-6/64753/#sthash.bsOa86kF.dpuf
-
IGNDec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6’s problems are baggage the series has been carrying since 1997; the second you thunk into a wall at 200 kilometres per hour and drive off scot-free, or hop into a belching V8 that sounds more like a wheezing milkshake maker, the glass shatters and the illusion breaks with it. But...it’s not hard to see why this series is deservedly regarded as one of the best of its kind, and this one is no exception.
-
Dec 5, 2013With Gran Turismo 6, Yamauchi adds some features without really listening to his fans. The new variable weather and daytime work in a great way and the brand new physics engine is more realistic than ever, but the lack of a good damage system and the infamous “bouncing effect” are still big holes in such a great franchise.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 is an enjoyable game and a truly interactive car encyclopedia. The number of cars, events and locations is really impressive, but old problems are still there. Ridiculous damage model, weak AI and a tons of low quality cars make the title very far from that level of perfection that Yamauchi promised us in recent years.
-
Dec 6, 2013GT6 feels like a rushed effort, and many problems from GT5 remain unresolved. But the classic GT base remains intact, since the actual act of simulation driving remains very tight—and it’s coupled with a tremendous amount of choice when you consider the 1,200 cars that come on the disc.
-
Jan 21, 2014Gran Turismo 6 is a massive game, and it is fantastic in its best moments, but the shortcomings of the series are getting difficult to ignore. Most notably the awful sounds and the lack of a proper damage model.
-
Jan 2, 2014Gran Turismo 6 is a Gran Turismo XL, for better and worse. The core concept with gathering cars is still great fun and at the same time the amount of time you have to put into the game is poorly managed.
-
Dec 28, 2013By far the biggest and the most famous racing simulation video game ever. But it does not deserve further superlatives. It knows how to entertain, how to amaze. But it does not know how to cover its semi-finished state. Again, it's a must for hardcore fans. However, racers of the mainstream will more likely roll their eyes than their wheels.
-
Dec 20, 2013The tough part about judging Gran Turismo 6 is that it's clear that Polyphony Digital put an overwhelming amount of effort and love into their latest game, and the challenge between you and the road is better than ever. But much of the effort put in is not what its millions of fans will appreciate or value, especially when it comes at the cost of leaving some of the game's most frustrating issues almost completely untouched.
-
Dec 12, 2013In its single-minded effort to deliver the best console racer handling the world’s seen, Polyphony lets a number of technical issues drive on by for yet another game.
-
Dec 10, 2013Yes, it's nice to have that attention to detail poured into the physics simulation itself, but when the likes of Forza are heaping on the features, it's hard not to feel shortchanged by GT6's lack of vision. Maybe we'll see the makeover the series sorely needs when it inevitably hits the PS4, but until then, Gran Turismo 6 remains a fantastic simulation; it's just not a great game.
-
Dec 10, 2013Polyphony has produced a handling and physics model that is unmatched by any other racer, but failed to provide AI competition capable of showcasing it to its fullest.
-
Dec 6, 2013Polyphony Digital had three years to truly work on this game and they delivered the same experience as Gran Turismo 5 just with some minor tweaks. Gran Turismo 6 feels more like an expansion rather than a brand new game. It's very disappointing for true racing fans.
-
Dec 6, 2013A useful improvement over the last game but one that still avoids instituting any of the serious changes that the series now desperately needs.
-
Dec 6, 2013If you haven't bought Gran Turismo 5 then - unsurprisingly - this is the one you should opt for if you have any interest. However with Gran Turismo 6, much like a dying swan, the PS3 won't be making an elaborate splash but, instead, quietly fading out of existence.
-
Dec 6, 2013Everything about Gran Turismo feels functional but a bit soulless. Lonely, even.
-
Hyper MagazineFeb 12, 2014Boring for normal people. Add [10 points] for each minute you can hold forth on the torque output of 1990s Skyline variants. [March 2014, p.72]
-
Feb 5, 2014GT6 is a bit old fashioned in its execution, to be sure, but what Polyphany has done better than any other developer since the late '90s, much like a master mechanic, is routinely apply oil to the squeakiest of gears.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo is no longer the superstar it once was, as we are no longer impressed by tons of cars and lovely polygons, just like most of us no longer think poodle-hair and Def Leppard are hot stuff. The world is a different place today, as is the racing genre, but Gran Turismo remains stuck in the past.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 ends up feeling stubborn to adapt to modernity. Its myriad landscapes are barren and unexciting, while the music sounds like it’s been ripped straight from a Ron Jeremy compilation VHS.
-
Dec 6, 2013Gran Turismo 6 feels like a relic of the past and the gameplay hasn't evolved to today's standards. There really isn't anything real about the so called 'real driving simulator', just an old fashioned Japanese game that isn't all that fun to play.
