The actual driving element is minimal, but if you like puzzle or arcade-style games, Burnout CRASH! is right up your alley. It's certainly charming and addictive, and for $10, it doesn't get a whole lot wrong. I'm just hoping that the next game that comes along with the Burnout name sticks a little closer to the roots of the series.
  2. This instalment of Burnout strikes just the right balance between addictive and repetitive, especially as it features big bro's groundbreaking Autolog system for competing against your buddies.

A game that leaves mixed sensations. It is fun and quite original, and is challenging for some times. But after the first hours it gets too repetitive, and it lacks a multiplayer mode or even online rankings. It is enjoyable and fun, and also well made, but the idea becomes limited quickly.

This top-down arcade game based on Burnout's Crash mode is addictive, but it could've used a little more focus on mindless carnage and less on planning and repetition.

Everything a downloadable title should be: simple, addictive and well priced. Those still in a strop that it isn't the 'proper' Crash mode that we've seen in Burnout games previously are missing the point. It is what it is, and it is jolly good fun.

It's focused and confident enough to concentrate on a very small set of mechanics without drifting off to try to cover too many bases. It almost succeeds, too, but a few odd design decisions slightly spoil what could have been a really solid game.

Well-integrated social features fuel the competitive kinetic chaos of Burnout Crash.

But the new game types, cartoon graphics and on-rails acceleration turn it into a car version of the human slingshot PSN game Pain.

Burnout Crash! has some bizarre crashes, but other than that it has little to do with the franchise. It's more of a puzzle game now with a cartoon-like look, with the fun gameplay modes locked until further in the game. The birdseye view actually limits the variation in the gameplay.

Pretty dull. You'll grind rather than grin your way to victory in this limited ride. [Dec 2011, p82]

Don't expect much driving - the aim here is simply to cause the biggest pile-up. [Christmas 2011, p.87]

A few game modes and a neat Autolog feature that allows us to challenge friends to score-based competitions keep things interesting for a while, but Crash gets quite stale after a few spins around the block. [Dec 2011, p.77]

Burnout Crash is better served as a something to do when you have a few minutes to kill.

Fans of good ol' fashioned automotive mayhem with $10 to spare may want to give Burnout Crash! a shot. It can be repetitious at times, but the inclusion of autolog and the addictive gameplay make it a solid downloadable offering.

It's not a completely disappointing experience, but I felt like too much of my time with Burnout Crash was spent almost having fun. In a way, that's almost more frustrating than if Criterion had whiffed it completely, since you can see the game that you'd want to play right in front of you, and yet it remains just out of reach.

Enjoyable in the briefest of playtime. While the overall concept turns Burnout's Crash mode into an addictive, destructive puzzle game, the graphics and sound will have you reaching for your console's power button.

Burnout Crash is fun as a mini-game, but not as a full arcade game. Its repetitive nature and unimpressive visuals will bore you and turn Crash into a barely interesting one trick pony.

Burnout Crash's ability to underwhelm is actually rather frustrating. The game would fit right at home on an iPhone or iPad, and it can be rather fun. But with all the amazing games available for consoles, it's hard to see why anyone would choose to invest their time in Burnout Crash.

Was bad at launch, bad now. This game is a disgrace to the burnout series. Especially now. Just olay Danger Zone 2 if you want a crash mode game

The game only has about ~6 hours of playtime and is just at it's core burnout 3's crash mode from a top down view with a few twists. It's in no way a full game and you'd get a better experience from literally any other burnout game (even the original.) Full Review »
