    The game didn't aged well and many mechanics does not fit well nowadays. When compared with the serie new releases it didn't make sense to be played.

    This game really switched up the borderland mechanics with the low-gravity aspect in outer space. Although nothing can compare to the story from BL2 this game created one hell of a good story. The boss battles were riveting and exciting, the guns were badass (as always) and the playable characters had awesome abilities.     Another finished game from Borderlands universe. Where shouldi start. Maybe it was a mistake to play this game immediately after Borderlands 2, but hey over all this game is well developed.

    It's a really interesting game, but it doesn't give anything new to the Borderlands series series.     About new features : Oxygen - it should be more important, it should take more of your HPs or at least do some damage, because when you are out of O2, you can still iive at least for another 5 minutes (maybe more).
    Low gravity ? Ok this feature is very interesting and i´ve enjoyed it.

    But what was most awesome thing in this game are definitely boss fights. Man... i will skip all of them and jump straight to the end. All ending storyline and all of their bosses are simply mega ultra top quality awesome!!!!
    The Sentinel was the pain in my ass, but i enjoyed it as well.

    This third episode of the franchise chose not to follow the events of Borderlands 2 but to tell us the rise of Handsome Jack, the charismatic villain of this previous episode. It also was one of the last game made exclusively for the old-gen. Does it live up to the expectations ?

    Technically the game is alright with no major issues except some minor framerate drops but nothing harmful    This third episode of the franchise chose not to follow the events of Borderlands 2 but to tell us the rise of Handsome Jack, the charismatic villain of this previous episode. It also was one of the last game made exclusively for the old-gen. Does it live up to the expectations ?

    Technically the game is alright with no major issues except some minor framerate drops but nothing harmful for the gameplay. The graphics keep the same art direction of the franchise and it doesn't brings a lot of improvements or new visuals with the same design of monsters, weapons and characters.

    Gameplay wise it's the same than the previous games with an open-world FPS with an emphasis on loot and coop, they tried to innovate with the low gravity (obvious given the fact that the action is on the moon) but it really doesn't change much (you'll never have oxygen troubles and the high jumps don't serve for anything ). But once again the main feeling is that it could be an expansion for Borderlands 2 and not a new episode.

    The story is certainly the most interesting point of the game, I think everybody loved Handsome Jack and his background was interesting but they relied too much on him and it lacks more charismatic characters. But at least the side quests are developed and full of pop culture references and you'll want to do them. To finish the game (campaign and side quests) you can expect around 25 hours which is good for the genre.

    In conclusion Borderlands The Pre-Sequel is certainly a fun game, specially with friends, but the lack of innovations is a major let down and if you already played the first two games you might end a bit bored despite the funny writing. I'll advise it only for big fans of the licence, if it's not your case you better expect Borderlands 3 on PS4/Xbox One.    … Expand

    I didn't like the game when I first started playing. I thought the missions were drawn out and boring and that the overall story was pointless. By the end of the game all that completely changed. I played through the game with Athena, Wilhelm, and Nisha. Athena and Nisha I thought were great new characters with unique skills but Wilhelm played too much like Gaige from Borderlands 2. LaserI didn't like the game when I first started playing. I thought the missions were drawn out and boring and that the overall story was pointless. By the end of the game all that completely changed. I played through the game with Athena, Wilhelm, and Nisha. Athena and Nisha I thought were great new characters with unique skills but Wilhelm played too much like Gaige from Borderlands 2. Laser and cryo weapons have replaced the slag weapons and personally I think they're much more fun. The new Oz kits allow characters the ability to double jump and butt slam enemies. Also the game allows players to use the grinder to combine three useless weapons to make a better one. My biggest complaint would have to come from the fact that a lot of the side missions take forever to complete due to the fact that there is a lot of walking between waypoints. Also I find it weird that the game looks worse than Borderlands 2 which came out over two years ago. If you're a hardcore fan of the Borderlands universe I think that you will enjoy the Pre-Sequel although I would recommend waiting for the price to drop.… Expand

Borderlands 2 is easily my favorite game of all time, but this is a slap in the face to any real fans of the series. They should have never made this, and focused all their attention on making borderlands 3.

    The only reason this game gets a 5 is because it does still has the same formula that made borderland 2 great. If they had even just changed the HUD i would have given a higher score, but they couldn't even do that. I've spent 2 years playing borderlands 2 and loved every second of the 1000+ hours i spent leveling up every character to 60 and even getting krieg and axton to 72.

    As far as character development, this did a great job telling the story of Handsome Jack, but if that's all gearbox and 2K were trying to do, then they should have priced it at $30 and called it a dlc, not make us pay full price for a terrible version of borderlands 2    … Expand

    This installment of Borderlands doesn't get enough credit. For starters the company that developed this one did a great job expanding the Borderlands universe and they also included much...much better playable characters this time around that are more colorful and alive than the last two games had.     This was a very fun game with some cool features introduced in the series, but it didn't equal up to the quality of the first two games. I really liked the story and Handsome Jack's dynamic role in this game, but the game itself needed more polish.

    -The gameplay is almost completely indentical, the sole change being the oxygen mechanic. Which is entirely worthless. It's only purpose is meant to serve as a leash, forcing you back to designated points. This is immensely annoying near the beginning of the game. However, at the end of the game it swings in the other direction and enemies drop so much oxygen that it's not even a thought any longer.
    -You can use your oxygen to boost yourself up an inch or glide for a second. It adds almost nothing, except more and more annoying jumps
    -If you ever thought some of the characters from the first two games were annoying or flat, believe me, it's worse. Every character is throughly boring or just flat out unlikeable. There's no real reason to care about them other than whatever sob story the writers drew from a hat.
    -I really have nothing to comment about the plot. It didn't interest me, that's all I'll say.
    -Again, difficulty and balance it completely all over the place. There's not much I can say about it that hasn't already been said. Hope the RNG doesn't hate you, or no fun for you.

    I can see only bad things in this franchises future. It seems pretty inevitable that this game is going to wrung for all it's worth, until the last penny has been drained.    … Expand

    I'm a bit mixed on my opinion of this game. I guess I'll start by mentioning all things I liked and didn't like.

    Didn't Like:
    1) Why on earth are Lilith and Roland in the game? Granted the intro it is understanding, but this felt like a wasted opportunity to introduce new characters. Heck it would have been ideal for the BL3 protagonists.
    2) Not enough Tiny Tina! MORE TINY TINA!!!!!
    3) Like with BL1 and BL2, BL:TPS's main controllable characters are barely relevant to the main story, aside from moving things along. There is VERY little variation in dialogue and character interactions. For BL3 the characters need to feel different, not just in ability and appearance,but also need the world around them to recognise their individuality.
    4) Lack of easter eggs. There were quite a few, but nowhere near as many as in BL2.
    5) Why isn't the intro patched to include the DLC characters?
    6) No trophies for DLC characters action skill usage.
    7) The main story is far too short.
    8) Not enough interesting side missions.

    There is more for both sides, but that's most of what I can think of for now.

    There's not to much to say about visuals and gameplay as they are on par with the previous games. The low gravity and atmosphere/no atmosphere aspects were a welcome addition, giving this game its own feel.

    While the story and character were all deep, enjoyable and thought out, it still felt like there should have been more.

    Overall:
    Borderlands: The Presequel feels more like avery big piece of DLC or stand alone spin off title. Critique aside, it's still a ton of fun and has everything you could expect from a Borderlands game.

    Note to 2K:
    I have bought and played every Borderlands games on all platforms. Bought every DLC, guidebook, any relevant paraphernalia related to this series. So I'm a huge fan. That said, if Borderlands 3 is in development, here are acouple of things I'd like to see:

    1) More Tiny Tina (or taller Tina depending on where in the continuity BL3 happens.)
    2) Have a different themed corporation running things. Dahl, Hyperion, Torque and Jakobs have made appearances, have someone else be the focus in the next game.
    3) Controllable characters that are relevant to the story.
    4) Raid bosses that are possible on Solo without having the rarest and best gear. Their difficulty should be proportionate to the number of players playing.
    5) More mini holiday themed DLCs like BL2 had.
    6) Lilith, Mordecai and Brick have had their moment, now let the BL2 cast lead the NPCs in BL3.
    7) Keep Cryo weopons.
    8) What happened to Aurelia?
    9) A giant statue of a red smiling cat. Don't know how or why, just make it so! *please* :)    … Expand

    Played through with friends, then went back to BL2 which has a better cast, bigger and better maps, story & missions. I didn't care for Handsome Jack's backstory. He can never be forgiven for what he does in BL 2, every time I could, I was shooting him for Bloodwing's sake.

    Well, It's a really fun game, but it doesn't give anything new to the series. It even recycle some voices from Borderlands 2 (like Marcus in his vending machines) and use a lot of old texture from the same previous game. Just buy it if you are a Borderlands fan (Like me) if not then check another games.

    Overall I thought The Pre-Sequel was a fun game to quench my thirst for more Borderlands before Borderlands 3 comes out. If you are a fan of the series I recommend, but keep in mind that this is just a filler game so don't expect Borderlands 2 level of fun.    … Expand

    Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is nice way, if you're a borderlands fanatic, to hold you over, Until Borderlands 3 anyways. If, however you want to try borderlands, I recommend Borderlands 2 as it as more story as well as gameplay. In general, Borderlands: Pre-Sequel has no new things to offer really. Worth the price, No. Waiting for a deal or sale up to 40 dollars would be more worth this game.

    Foi um jogo que eu esperei bastante pra sair pq eu sou completamente apoixonado pelo borderlands 2 e gosto muito do 1 e nao bem como explicar mais esse faltou alguma coisa tipo aquilo que faz viciar assim como o borderlands 2.

    I enjoyed this entry into the Borderlands series, but the style and look of it are aging to me. It feels a bit like they are riding the popularity rather than expanding the game outwards. I am glad this studio has a new title out, because they need to keep developing new I.P. They are good at it.

    While the story was somewhat good, I can't help but notice plot holes, not going to mention them, but, there are. Now, on to the discussion of why such a low score.

    First, it's a much shorter game than Borderlands 2, that includes the world and the pain that is moving trough many maps without a fast travel station nearby.

    Second, stupid side missions, nonsensical and downright stupid side missions are back.

    Third, weapons, many of the "legendary" or orange weapons are back, and while they do say that there are millions upon millions of weapons, at the end of the day, you will just want the rarest weapons.

    Fourth, story, while it was somehow new of how the story was being told, it would have been better if the character you choose did some narration or had a special ending, not told by drawings. Everything is centered on Athena, even if you do not choose her as your character.

    Fifth, ending (no spoilers), this game was released with content that may as well could have been dlc for borderlands 2. Also, I can't help but feel that this game only existence is to mention yet another borderlands game coming at some point in the future.

    Bottom line is, don't pay full price, wait for a special sale with all the dlc (that will come) at a better price of ... $5 dollars, that's what this game is worth anyways.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's good... not great by any means, but pretty enjoyable. Better than Destiny, but not as good as Borderlands 2. Most people aren't big fans of the low-grav system but I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and it is not nearly as difficult to control as they would have you believe. Sure the world has less fast travel and lots of walking around, but you can move much more quickly than in the previous games with low-grav. This does have its downsides though. I went through most missions with little to no combat, and even with doing all the side missions I was pretty underleveled at times.

    I did enjoy playing as recognizable characters, and the addition of character specific dialogue was wonderful. Wilhelm is a lot of fun, sure his active is essentially the same as Gaige's, but slowly turning into a robot (and his voice changes all robotic) is really cool. Claptrap is really great if you are playing online, and the dialogue responding to him, particularly from Jack, is often pretty funny.

    I did not run into any major bugs other than one where some enemies fell through the floor. Luckily Wolf was more than capable of taking care of it.

    The humor is all pretty much intact, but there is far too much sexualization of characters. Pretty much every character you are introduced to in this game is gay or a child, and it is fully up to your discretion to decide on if some are both. Did anyone need to know if Hammerlock was gay or not? Definitely not, it doesn't add anything to his character, and is overall worthless information. Then there is Janey Springs who every time she is involved with dialogue is either saying she's a lesbian or hitting on any and every female character in the game. As a whole I do like her character, the children's stories are enjoyable. I just figured they were building up to some joke or something with the overt homosexuality, but it didn't go anywhere.

    I am waiting anxiously for the DLC, and lets hope Gearbox edges out 2K australia as time goes on. Not that the game isn't enjoyable, but as far as Borderlands titles go this is a pretty weak entry. I would say it is better than the first one if say both came out at the same time, but this game should have shown many years of progress that the first one didn't need.

    To me Australian accents can sound abrasive.

The humor was there and the story was there. However, the game play was not. A stupid learning curve for the gravity mechanics, bad level balancing, and boss battles that were either too hard or too easy brought it down for me. While I enjoyed it overall, I can tell that Gearbox did not make this. I hope when Borderlands 3 comes (which it has to be) Gearbox takes the mantle back up. 2K Australia has whetted my appetite for Borderlands, but not satisfied it.… Expand

    Great game, more of the same doesn't make it bad. It's a better version of Destiny in my opinion except with out the MMO features. I bought since I didn't buy Borderlands 2, I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

    I bought this game day one and am not disappointed, as a fan of the previous 2 games this felt like a catch up on what happened between the first 2 games. The positives are if you want a well designed shoot and loot with tens of thousands of weapons, a fair and balanced system for joining peoples online games with plenty of action from start to finish then you will most likely enjoy it. Negatives would be a slightly less than good framerate, textures can take a while to load in game and a few glitches that can get you or your car stuck in the scenery.… Expand

    Upon hearing Pre-Sequel was being developed by 2K Australia and not Gearbox, I had my reservations as to whether or not this would be a title worth investing in. Unfortunately, those reservations were fully justified.

    Pre-Sequel gives one the impression of a lackluster DLC stamped with a full $60 price tag. The game world is smaller than any Borderlands past, and even smaller than some    Upon hearing Pre-Sequel was being developed by 2K Australia and not Gearbox, I had my reservations as to whether or not this would be a title worth investing in. Unfortunately, those reservations were fully justified.

    Pre-Sequel gives one the impression of a lackluster DLC stamped with a full $60 price tag. The game world is smaller than any Borderlands past, and even smaller than some DLC-added zones, which 2K compensates for with vastly extended enemy spawn times (6-8 packs of enemies spawning instead of 3-5), far shorter respawn timers, less fast travel stations, less vehicle availability and quests that send you back and forth over the same two zones over and over and over and over. This is exacerbated by the addition of low gravity, prompting 2K to decide it was necessary to cram pointless jumping challenges into a game with infamously terrible physics and jumping mechanics in an effort to artificially pad game time.

    This is really my key complaint about Pre-Sequel: Far too little content (and the content that is there is uninspired, frustrating and/or just plain boring) painted over with horridly transparent efforts to artificially extend the campaign's running time. The bland skill trees, forgettable characters, generic storyline and a slew of bugs (glitchy hitboxes, loot and enemies falling through the floor, forcing you to restart entire quest lines, etc.) on top of the blatant lack of content make for a poor excuse for a $60 price tag. Add in the copy-paste loot and enemy types and you have an experience I would struggle to even accept as a Borderlands 2 DLC.

    All-in-all Pre-Sequel comes off as a cynical attempt to license out a well-known IP to a developer who clearly phoned this one in an attempt to bilk customers out of the price of a full game when this game barely qualifies as a DLC because they think we're too stupid to notice. Judging from a lot of the scores I've been seeing, I fear they're right. It's definitely not so horrible as to deserve a zero, but I really don't feel like it deserves more than a four, especially considering the precedent set by the previous two games in the series.    … Expand

New players would not need to buy it because them can pay less to get more from bl2 goty. It's sort of like Destiny: Like it or hate it. Except this game has content.

    pros:
    4 very interesting classes as you probably already know;
    Good-ol' shoot and loot. (did i spell that right?);
    Its Jack! this time he Is the good guy and you will get to know more about him! (for new players, you will get many interesting characters);
    Player characters finally got dialogues with NPCs;

    This game reuses gears from bl2. idk if there is new legendary or unique gears for weapon classes other than laser, but this is definitely upsetting as it robs old player of the novelty, the best part about getting awesome loots. maybe except killing stuff with them.
    Graphics is not improved. at all. or maybe its the console port.
    Texture sometimes takes time to pop in, and I have experienced mysterious frame rate drop once. Hopefully will be fixed soon.
    Low gravity can be a pain, as the game deliberately ask you to do parkour (or really double jump) by putting mission trigger points at high places. But the double jump mechanic is bad. The boost is slow and you cant reach very high (2 times the height of jumping once at best) and gets old really quickly. It takes a bit of getting used to to reach higher platform, and also make you unclear whether some terrain is reachable or not.

    Other things you should know: the entire game is actually a story told by Athena to Lilith, meaning she, Brick and Mordecai will sometimes commentate on the situation, much like Tiny Tina dlc in bl2.
    Some ignorance on basic physics, eg everyone hang around in vacuum with arms and legs exposed. But borderlands isnt a game about making sense anyway. Because... reasons!    … Expand

    If you’re not on board with the series’ mashing of shooting and RPG elements, there’s nothing here that’s going to dissuade, and even casual fans might not feel the need to pick up this interquel after they’re still stuffed from Borderlands 2, but for the hardcore fan it’s hard to deny the formula is still plenty of fun and taking things to the moon provides enough of a difference in the mechanics to justify a play-through.

    If you like Borderlands, then you'll like Borderlands The Pre-Sequel. It's simply more Borderlands.
