It's not tied to a film, but think of this as more of a Bond adventure when he's on vacation; a fun, action-packed ride, but not necessarily cool or clever enough to warrant a cinematic adventure.

Arguably, there isn't that much of a Bond feel to the game other than Craig's accent and a few familiar bars of the Bond theme music, but as action-shooters that mix stealth and melee, and a few car chases tossed in to spice things up, you won't find much better this holiday season.

Sometimes it is really refreshing when developers concentrate on the basics and do not try out some "revolutionary" things. The action in James Bond Blood Stone is solid and will entertain you nearly six hours in single player. The story mode is always motivating but won't be nominated for the award of innovation.

The gameplay of this game is a bit repetitive in the shootouts and the developer could have done a lot more with the many environments. The game is also too easy, except for the missions where you have to drive. That part is by far the best of the game and shows the real roots of Bizarre Creations.

James Bond 007 Blood Stone certainly doesn't do any damage to the Bond brand, and can actually be thrilling and exciting to play throughout its short campaign. It just sucks that there's so little content here that can be easily blown through in day.

In many ways, Blood Stone is a mediocre title. Graphically, characters look dull and frankly some PS2 and Xbox titles looked better.

Bizarre clearly set out to make Blood Stone feel like a part of Bond's movie canon, and it's certainly successful on that front. The weapons are anemic, and the driving sections can be dodgy, but it delivers a dose of spectacle and intrigue worthy of the character.[Dec 2010, p.114]

Blood Stone is a solid game that without the license most people would write off as just another humdrum shooters. Still being such a huge fan of the property I couldn't help but really enjoy taking down enemies and feeling like a complete badass at times.

It's almost too accessible, even on the regular difficulty setting.

But, in the end it is too easy and far too short.

Stylish combat and white-knuckle driving make this an enjoyable James Bond adventure, despite some pacing issues.

I am not sure if its because it was a good game, or because it was James Bond. The opening scenes get your blood boiling as most James Bond games and Movies do. For me this was enough to keep me hooked the entire game. The game allows you to decide the way you want to approach the enemy. You can use stealth attacks (my favorite), or you can use the duck and shoot type of firefight method (also fun). Even the normally boring part of walking around using gadgets to break codes was exciting to me. The story was very predictable. Joss stone would have never been my choice for a bond girl. Although the cars you get to drive were awesome, I would have liked to drive a motorcycle (just me). That said it was still a good game. In reality though the simple fact that its a James Bond game automatically gives it 5 points in my review. The good graphics and the modest length of the game add to its quality. That's why I give it a 7 out of 10 Full Review »

Short review - Fun and satisfying action oriented game!
Long review - Blood Stone is far from bad! It does many things right, a few things wrong, and a few things are not done at all. I'll elaborate.
Firstly, the game has a good mix of all out guns blazing action to stealthy and sneakier approach to a few missions and it has amazing driving sections which are actually sometimes more fun than the rest of the shooting sequences. The shooting is fun and the guns feel right! Getting headshots is pretty easy and well, satisfying! There is no melee in this game, but there definitely are plenty of takedowns, hand-to-hand that is.
But the thing here with the shooting is that its just not PERFECT as the rest of the games that have come out! The feel that you get is good, but not as satisfying as say in, Uncharted 2 or even Bourne Conspiracy for that matter! Moving onto the driving. Its the best part about the game according to me. And I'm not surprised since its by Bizzare Creations! It has amazing and intense moments and is fun till the end!
Now here is the complaint. James bond is about the gadgets, this game has ONLY the cell phone as the gadgets! I miss those Everything or Nothing days. That game had the perfect balance of shooting and driving and usage of gadgets! I was expecting the same from this game but was dissapointed over there!
Keeping that complaint aside, the gameplay is fun and pretty good.
The story is classic worldwide conspiracy Bond style. Nothing new here and nothing old. Its hard to care about the characters though. Its just all about Bond. The graphics are not revolutionary, but they aren't bad as well. The cutscenes look kind of stiff, but the gameplay is pretty smooth ad the framerate is constant and there are no other complaints regarding the graphics The game manages to pull of nice lighting and facial details. The animation can be clunky but that can be forgiven. The vistas in the game are pretty good. The variety of locations is a bonus to the graphics, although sometimes it can be bland and dull. But the other effects, such as snow falling or explosions, etc. look pretty good. There is a lack of destructible environments in the shooting sections though. The car sequences have a total opposite of that. Not one moment is peaceful and destruction free in the car segments!
So all in all, in short this game is no Everything Or Nothing of the Next-gen consoles, but its the best Bond game for this gen of consoles none the less!
Forgive the flaws and you have a nice fun rent. For James Bond fans, a purchase is a must. Its pretty fun when the action kicks in.
