battlefield 3 is a great game but not a perfect game. reason is that it still have some major flaw with the sound delay when reloading and sudden quiet during online gameplay.

I am reviewing this on the campaign only, which is soooooo boring. I played the Modern Warfare campaign before this and that was outstanding but compared to a game that is in the future it shows that Battlefield might have a great multiplayer but the campaign laxks something.

A good game. The multiplayer is just great, nothing to say about it... But the campain is just... it doesn't look like a "battlefield" game, it is short, to linear, some bugs... The scenario is good I think, but that's the only positive point, I think. About the co-op, it is more a stopgap than anything else.

To buy only for the multiplayer ! Do not expect something clean and beautiful

Battlefield 3 was one of the most anticipated games in 2011, and this reviewer can tell you that it is absolute rubbish. The campaign is garbage, as usual with the Battlefield series. The campaign lacks a storyline, and cannot be easily understood other than "Shoot everything you can see". The multiplayer is unstable and buggy, and causes major lag issues. I really hate to finally play a game when it has received the amount of hype Battlefield 3 has. Even if I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of the game, it's not hard to feel somewhat disappointed when the hype has reached a fever pitch. Fortunately, this is not the case for BF3. I will say that the single player campaign was not on the level I was hoping it would be. I will say that the single player campaign was not on the level I was hoping it would be. The visuals and polish were astounding but the story's length and coherency could have been better. But that's not really why I purchased the game is it? I am a relative newcomer to the BF series so I can't help but compare it to Modern Warfare at every level. The first thing I noticed was a glaring glitch of some sort. Every time I shoot an enemy in BF3, they seem to fall over and I am rewarded with points. That never happens in MW3. All kidding aside, BF3 blows away the competition in every respect. The gun play is tight and the bullets are deadly. The movement and animations give me a real sense of control and help to immerse me in the fight. Add vehicles and environmental destruction to the mix and DICE has far exceeded the latest in the COD franchise. I would have loved to see MW3 improve on the now 5 game old formula but at least the excellence of BF3 will force the issue next year. I'm sure many will disagree with my take on the winner of this battle, which is understandable, considering many people like to hide in corners and wait until someone runs past for an easy kill from behind. At least in DICE's offering you can achieve redemption by dropping a building on the sorry sap. I see Battlefield keeping my interest for many months, if not years to come. Bravo to DICE and to EA for recognizing the innovation crippling business model that they almost pioneered. This is a first hand account of what they avoided by letting the creatives do their thing. Battlefield 3 and Dice step up and in my mind easily top COD: MW3. The new Frostbite 2 engine enhanced the graphics and physics in the game. The story is good but it is to short to me and this is the main reason it got a 9 instead of 10. The multiplayer is great and is very easy to get into the game unlike COD were it has taken me over 10 minutes to join a COD online game. It is the better buy.

The best modern FPS hands down. That being said, the FPS is a tired genre in my opinion. Otherwise it would have gotten a 10. Most of the maps are great (the subway one is garbage) with the addition of the back to karkand expansion (wake island, you dirty beast) the game is just getting better.

There is a good mulltiplayer aspect to this game, but some flaws mage the game almos unplayable:

    1) A lot of people (me included) are experiencing an enourmous amount of input lag (some youtube videos measure more than 300ms); 2) Deadzone is too great (you have to move the stick much more than normal to start turning); 3) Aim acceleration is strange, when you move the stick just a little

Join these 3 things and you have a crapshoot, you can only hit stationary target with consistency. If a patch solve these things, it would make the best online experience to date, but for now, stick with BF3 on 360 or PC.

PS.: If you think you don't have the input lag issue, try playing any other FPS game (especially others with 30 fps like BFBC2) for about 30 minutes and then come back to BF3. You won't like the results.

What amazing, nice big maps, beautiful graphics, driving tanks and other vehicles. It's all so fun. But there is something that i don't like. This was worth a $3.00 rent at redbox. I played the main story for about 3 hours and was already bored of it. These games are really starting to get tiring. I have no intention to buy this game. There is nothing fun about the game and if you look at the story and game play from an arm length away, it seems like a cheesy B-rated action flick.

However the multi-player is always the selling point for me on the BF franchise and I was not disappointed. The way you rank up your player, vehicle, and weapons is well done. The amount of free-range you get per level is something I personally love! I can be tactical in this game with my squad or I can go Lone Wolf once in a while. I came into Battlefield 3 with high expectations and I will state this: I came into the game looking for something to satisfy my multiplayer cravings; not the single player, I knew the single player would probably be redundant so those who look at a game for its single-player experience, stop. This is not the game for any single player lovers. Has BF3 satisfied my multiplayer cravings? II came into Battlefield 3 with high expectations and I will state this: I came into the game looking for something to satisfy my multiplayer cravings; not the single player, I knew the single player would probably be redundant so those who look at a game for its single-player experience, stop. This is not the game for any single player lovers. Has BF3 satisfied my multiplayer cravings? I think so. It's insanely addictive, the teamwork that this game requires is a massive reason why I like it so much. I can still rank up just from resupplying, healing, spotting, piloting, and etc. A bit slow to rank up but I'm having a fun time ranking up, so why not? I saw the review that was complaining about the fact that the game doesn't remember your favourite map settings? Seriously? There are only 10 maps (soon to be 14 with BtK) and 5 game modes; if you can't remember what game mode you like best and the map you liked best, I pity your memorization capabilities. I have no problems; I know what combo I like best: Conquest and Kharg Island. Done. Simple as that. If you can't adapt to what they've given you by complaining about the difficulty of the game's targetting, man up. Don't expect everything to be given to you on a silver platter even if you paid 60+ dollars. It's called taking some time to actually adapt yourself to the game. There are a lot of things to say about this game's multiplayer but I can safely say that as long as you have an open mind, you will not be disappointed. Are there some short-comings? Sure. I have it for PS3 and the multiplayer gets incredibly slow-paced in the much larger maps like Caspian Border and Kharg Island due to the small amount of players. I'd like it if DICE could improve this somehow even if it means removing some of the destruction aspects of multiplayer. Any other disappointments? I know that some specializations for the vehicles don't work very well (TV Missile) and the forsaken Godlight (I'm sure that they're going to nerf this soon anyways). Rush is kind of a disappointment too, but mostly because if your team isn't very smart, they'll run through the same old gauntlet, die, rinse and repeat. Sniping is also a pain, but who knows? I will say that I suck at sniping but some of the sniper rifles are better without scopes. Jets? Difficult to fly but I do believe that learning how to fly it is incredibly rewarding. In the end, Battlefield 3 is a game made for the multiplayer freak inside of everyone. I can't completely demote it because it doesn't have a worthwhile single-player experience. I was so grateful that I pre-ordered this game; worth it. It does have some bugs and issues that it still needs to fix but I have trust in DICE, it will happen. So in the end, this is a very worthwhile game. I mean, it's not like we got a rehashed game made for a cash grab, right MW3? Expand

Great game, but the removal of bots means it is not perfect. It is absolutely perfect for people who love strategy based tactical shooters. the maps are large and battles are intense. It has great sound, graphics and one of the best FPS i have played. Once again, DICE have made only one mistake, the removal of bots for people who want to take it easy, practice, or have no internet connection.

Boring campaign, but after playing all CODs since MW i really liked the multiplayer offering DICE put up with MOH. I enjoyed the tactical pacing as opposed to COD's frantic running and gunning. Also, LOVED the sound. Personally, i became better at COD after playing MOH because i learnt to move better. Of course this may only apply to me.
Anyway, two days ago, i get my copy of BF3. i fire it up and it throws me into Rush on Caspian Border. As soon as i spawn i'm looking at a tank standing on the asphalt. Immediately there's a loud boom; the tank recoils and kicks up dust. A second later i hear another muffled explosion as the shell hits. i'm already thinking WOW, when a chopper buzzes overhead, machine guns spitting fire. There's a shout over the radio about an enemy fast mover, but i'm too preoccupied with the audio visual assault to catch it. A second later a jet buzzes low, chasing after the chopper. Its now that I start running for cover. DICE has thrown me straight in to a war zone. Welcome to Battlefield.
I have seen very few sights since i started gaming in the early 90s that made me just sit in awe. This was one of them. And many more followed. I've only played the multiplayer so far, so i cant comment on the campaign. i dont play FPS games for campaigns any more, although i did till MW2. i even played the MW3 campaign, but it didnt have that spark anymore. I'd already seen the washington monument destroyed. Manhattan was just more of the same. And the story was flat out cliched. I dont dislike COD. i've spent many enjoyable months on it, prestiged etc. I even played MW3 multiplayer. But it was almost more of the same. Enjoyable, yes. Amazing, no. Now i'm not especially good at online multiplayer. just average. But a day later, im still enjoying every minute of BF3. i cant wait to get back in the game. And not only because of the visuals. BF3 makes you feel like you're contributing with more than just kills. Spotting, repairing, healing; that's you being part of the team. And you get rewarded for it. IW is good at giving you small, frantic and personal gun fights, DICE is great at making you part of a team. MOH made me feel like part of a squad waging a small tactical battle. But that was just an appetizer for Battlefield 3. This, this is war.

The nine multiplayer maps seem to be designed specifically to let players come up with their own creative strategies. Compared to COD, this gives the player a real sense of freedom. There is no such thing as a perfect strategy or a trotten path. [December 2011, p.74]
