A single player, unfortunately the short term, however, knows retaining sequences with spectacular plays and good films that immerses players in a great atmosphere of war. Multiplayer, real heart of the saga will give you the feeling of being on a real battlefield with vehicles and maps from excellent destructibility.

Fantastic Game. The campaign is good, but not great. The co-op is good, but also not great. The multiplayer is the best part of this game. I've never played a game's multiplayer as good as this. THe is a must buy for competetive multiplayer fans.

You have to think about your every move, do you need an engineer in your squad is it time to be a sniper? It is up to you, but ultimately these choices as a team will win or lose the battle.
The graphics on the PS3 are much more impressive than I was expecting, the Frostbite 2 engine easily lives up to the pre-launch hype. Thank You EA for raising the bar for future FPS games. Battlefield 3 will be talked about for a long time. Hello you lot. So you want to know whether BF3 is worth the money? The short answer is absolutely!! However, as you can read in all the other reviews no game is "perfect". All i will say is that compared to MW3 which is criminally lacking in originality, EA have not sat on their laurels but instead made an even better game. SP>>>The Single player is NOT why you buy BF3. If you did, wellHello you lot. If you did, well maybe you are new to the franchise. Let's consider it an "extra" and leave it at that, it gets a 6/10 but it is by no means a bad SP , its jsut that compared to the MP it is linear, short and a little awkward - its just a different type of game a bit like when we all used to buy COD back in 2003 for the SP set in WW2, a little extra should not be so highly criticised in my humble opinion. MP>>>>>WOW. No other word comes close. It is at the same time, immersive, intense, exciting, rewarding and extrememly finely balanced. It allows you to adapt your skills, pick your way or charge in and the maps, which make or break an MP (see MW3 as an example of how bad maps can be the death of a game) are STUNNING. I dont want to bore you any more than this - for the first time in a while i dont feel ripped off, i feel like i paid good money for good work. It is a very rare thing to say that in the gaming industry these days....so pick up your rifle, your kit, get on that chopper and take the war to the enemy - you won't be disappointed. 9.5/10 Expand

First of all its good to know that any game that has flashbacks now copies Call of Duty (i sense a meme). The flashbacks from Black Ops were during, not an Interrogation/Debriefing surrounding and interesting conspiracy, but a TORTURE of a US marine surrounding a plot that has been used for ages, so stop trying to say the plot of sleeper agents with codes stored in their heads is original because its not. Also the plot of Black Ops was nonsensical and was basically a Michael Bay film with not so pretty graphics. I understand this game is going to get compared to CoD, its what the entire flame-war has been about, but the fact of the matter is that CoD has grown stale and has a plot that my nine year old brother predicted when i started MW2. The last good CoD in the series was CoD 4 (I have been playing CoD since the beginning so i am not a fan-boy so don't start with that). Its just that myself and many other gamers have grown tired of the same rehashed game over and over and want something new. This is where Battlefield 3 comes in to fill the gap. I'll start with the campaign since this is where I here the most gripes.
CAMPAIGN: This game has a VERY solid campaign, not one of the most original plots, but it was done extremely well. The story is believable, engrossing and full of tense moments that really get you on your toes. A lot of people seem to say that you can't get Graphics and Playability in one package and I call those people stupid. The PS3 version has fantastic graphics, I am very pleased with the way it turned out and understand why DICE said they play the PS3 version in the office everyday. The level when your teammate deploys flares in the apartment is a true justification to that, along with many more jaw-dropping levels (Thunder Run). I understand fully that Battlefield is a series not known for Single-player, but since Bad Company 1&2 they are learning to create an intriguing story that really does justice to a good campaign. The only issue I've had with campaign is that when the game saves, it sometimes freezes briefly, but comes right back. The way the campaign is also geared towards knowing that you are not Rambo-Jesus is great too. They really make you feel like you die quite quickly and that cover IS needed to survive. Also as opposed to Black Ops which had some of the worst AI I've ever seen in a game, both the enemies and team-mates feel smart enough to challenge and help you. Enemies move from cover to cover and pick and choose targets while your fellow squad mates will actually kill the enemies with you. Another thing that I have heard is that the directions in the campaign are not clear enough. Well...I guess that for the average CoD player being 12 years old, it may be a little hard to understand that when you team-mate says SHOOT THE LIGHTS he really does mean SHOOT THE LIGHTS, I mean seriously I have read so many posts saying, "I'm stuck on the sniper level i don't understand what he wants me to do". Its like wow really are you serious there's a prompt in the top left and there are subtitles so either you dumb, or just illiterate. I had a great time with the single player and really felt the power behind the vehicles, guns and explosions. The graphics and lighting are fantastic and the story is engrossing and fun. Don't skip the single player. MULTIPLAYER:
This is where the game truly shines and delivers the full package. The graphics are phenomenal and the gun-play is fantastic. The fact that CoD's only argument is 60fps hold no water at all. The frame rate is still smooth and jitter free even with so much action happening in one area. The multiplayer suffers from a few hiccups with lag and unbalanced weaponry, but DICE (actually caring about customer support) has already acknowledged the problems and is working to fix them as I type. The maps of Battlefield 3 are absolutely enormous and could fit all of CoD's maps into one. They are beautifully designed to soot all play-styles from Jet and Helicopter Pilot, Tank commander, Infantry grunt, Support gunner, Demolitionist, Sniper and much more depending on how you play. There are still plenty of buildings to destroy and to decimate so don't fret, the tradition of destruction remains strong. The guns all feel amazing and handle differently. Also not every gun is suitable for every map so adjust your class accordingly, and thanks to the traditional loadout screen after every death you can always change your class and weapon set so you never feel screwed. Again cover is a must so don't expect to play this game like CoD and end up MVP(kills don't matter, points come from working as a team) shocking I know. Battlefield 3 is a must buy for any true FPS fan tired of the mundane. You cant go back once your hooked.

I really think this is the best FPS out there at the moment. COD doesn't even come close to how much depth this game has in the multiplayer. If you don't want to get around on foot, you have all the land and air vehicles. You can spend most of your time in vehicles if you want to. Without a doubt this is the best MP military shooter this gen. The control is the best I have encountered. The shooting and vehicle control is so natural. I have driven almost all the vehicles and they were extremely easy to control. I was afraid to try the helicopter because I had trouble with BFBC2 but to my surprise I lasted 10 minutes flying and strafing the enemy before I got to **** and crashed. Being an Attack Helicopter gunner is pure bliss!! I squad-ed into 2 players that were in an attack helicopter. I was on the machine gun and found out we were being attacked by a jet. Turned and luckily blew the jet out of the air and the next one. While we were waiting for the next jet to come we were strafing soldiers on the ground. The third one got us. Ended up in the water and committed suicide because it was to far to swim! :)

The graphics are right up there with Killzone 3 and Uncharted. They are very detailed and I am so impressed with the new Frostbite 2.0 engine's destruction!! The texture work is amazing for this scope of a game. Everything looks pretty but is still fluid. I haven't noticed any screen tearing which means if there is some the action is so good I don't notice it. The models are some of the best I have seen.

The audio is a major player here. The guns explode true to life. Explosions BOOM and the vehicles sound authentic.

I have to say the maps are fantastic! There are your wide open maps and your closed in maps. The subway map was unreal in it's destruction coming from close combat. Played in many wide open maps and that is were BF3 really shines. So many ways to get back in the action. This saves BF as having to run to the action can take a long time. Squads FTW!

PRONE!! This single addition has made the game more realistic to me. It's been fantastic using it and getting killed by it. I just sit after being killed thinking to myself that's what it would be like in real life. My enemies would go prone in that situation!! Love it! I am also very impressed with the lense fair! I have especially enjoyed the melee kills that are reminiscent to the Brutal Melee kills in Killzone 3. They don't have the Brutal aspect like no gouging the eyes but they do go into a little auto kill while you drive the knife home.

I haven't played the SP yet but I am sure I will enjoy it since it's not the focus of this type of game. I never get my hopes up for SP since BF is all about MP.

I am a little disappointed that the COOP is not full game. This doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe they can fix it in a future patch or DLC.

I did experience some connection issues. It took 5 connection tries to get into a match last night. I have had failures of 2 and 3 connection try attempts on separate occasions. However, once I am connected it's vary stable and I have not been disconnected in 8 matches so far.

I was able to get a copy of the PS3 Limited Edition and cannot wait to get the Back to Karkand DLC! That will be fun going down memory lane!

Battlefield 3 is the epitome of War. This is what it would be like to be involved in a major conflict as far as I am concerned since I have never been in the military. I am thankful the military risks their necks daily for our security as I am only able to do it in fantasy. Thank you men and woman of the military for giving me an environment where I can enjoy awesome media like Battlefield 3!

This is a next gen shooter there are things in this game that no one has done before. Tell ya what stuff MW3 and go for this because this is officially the best game ever. Sorry Deus Ex but you have been beaten. The single player story has a real black ops vibe to it but in a fresh modern setting you are Sargent Henry Blackburn a first recon marine that has 'information on a terrorist that the CIA need. You are sent into flashbacks like black ops into modern warfare like settings with big buildings and even deserts in spec ops mission not the best game story ever but is has heart and some twists to keep you engaged. At first you might think the games controls are clunky but then you realize they are really fluid and better than other FPS configs. But I must add that this game really shines in it's engine. Frostbite 2 is the new benchmark for FPS and it's detail is incredible from the sound to the graphics and this is the best looking game I have ever seen everything has detail from the dust and water on your face to the small rocks and pieces of destroyed buildings. Each gun really has their own distinct sound with a hearty kick in them the sounds of explosions in the background to the close up firefights. But the most impressive thing about the engine is the animation finally an FPS where there is such things as hands and feet when you are moving prone you are actually moving. DICE said at the EB Expo that they borrowed the animation and physics from FIFA 12 and it shows. The gunplay is solid and you really have to shoot the enemy hard because they are pretty tough. When you shoot them they grab where they have been hit then crumble to the ground. But the best bit about Battlefield is the freakin fantastic multiplayer. I have to say I suck at this multiplayer. Im getting better but still I love it it brings out strategy and you are fighting not just for xp but because of the feel the glory of getting a headshot or the hilarity of you crashing your helicopter into the sea and killing your squad with you. To unlock gear you have to play that class to unlock attachments and weapon or gadget upgrades for that class this encourages you to use all your classes and unlocking the next bit of gear at the same time unlocking specializations for your character. You can even unlock abilities for vehicles it is really addictive and I can see myself playing this for hours. There is a facebook like service online called battlelog where you can create platoons or if your a pc gamer launch matches. It is really helpful but is still doing matinence so I haven't checked it out fully. There is Co-Op but I haven't tested that either. After all this I don't think you can compare Battlefield and MW3 because they are different games. COD is a fantastic raw shooter but Battlefield go's in depth to the shooter genre so really when someone asks you the question MW3 or Battlefield you say both because they are different games. This game is an excellent multiplayer and singleplayer game that has set a new benchmark for all games this is an undoubtedly 10 out of 10 game it is a must play. Expand

In my opinion, it would be nice to have some offline multiplayer or co-op capabilities like that in CoD, but no other game I've ever played comes even half as close to the immersive online world that Battlefield presents. In short, is the only FPS game I ever need to play online. It's just that good

I'm talking about the hit boxes they're great. The guns not-so overpowered the shotguns maybe -but hey they're shotguns. The Co-op I haven't really gotten into but it could be other peoples cup-of-tea, if you've played spec-ops on MW2 and liked it, then you'll like Co-op in BF3. All in all you should pick up this amazing game at a local retailer or online, its worth more than full priced. Expand

try to keep this short and sweet, dice has chose a different path as far as campaign, "flashback" interlaced story feeling very familiar, yes black ops. but this isnt a bad thing just not a story which will have you holding on to your seat waiting for the next mission, rather you just go through the motions, quick keying when cued and yes the nuke is in a brief case and you know the rest.try to keep this short and sweet, dice has chose a different path as far as campaign, "flashback" interlaced story feeling very familiar, yes black ops. but this isnt a bad thing just not a story which will have you holding on to your seat waiting for the next mission, rather you just go through the motions, quick keying when cued and yes the nuke is in a brief case and you know the rest. BUT this may be a very familiar territory as far as story/campaign but we are in uncharted waters as far as visuals and sound, brilliant. ive played it also on the p.c. and i will say that the console version is a masterpiece for such a enriched beautiful display of the frostbite 2, not bad for a 6 year old console. its groundbreaking in ways which allow one to see that although a console is limited , developers can find clever ways to work around the limitations, i applaud dice for this. well done. but back on track, the campaign is short and sweet. it almost feels like a "training session" for what is to be in my opinion, the best fps multiplayer exp ever. and i cant express how much it has to offer as well as the option to play any mode for the maps which is nice because is bad company 2 i wished i could play certain modes on certain maps etc.

dont be fooled by the ratings judged by campaign. if you are buying this for campaign alone it is still better then alot thats out there anyways but the point i am making is that the exp is in the multiplayer, one which will devour you and one that can not be overlooked or dismissed as just another fps re-hash. no... this game has officially set the bar in my opinion. so as far as mw3, well thats another game which is a different style, so when the time comes this game will also have a rating based on what it offers. im tired of hearing about the mw3 vs. b3. and even more so when hearing about how much one is better and you know what im getting at, and this is a biased way to judge/rate a game. if one can not place a disc in, play it and strictly talk about what they saw and how they felt w/o comparing, well then there is a conflict of interests for lack of a better term. this game deserves to get rated on the good and the bad, and not rated by comparing. thats why the scoring system is out of whack now a days. well i try my best to play a game with an open mind and then tell my fellow gamers what i thought and how i felt. nothing more or less. w/ that said..

the good: graphics are top notch, lip sync done well, sound is amazing ( headset recommended!). the gunplay feels great , the lighting, changing weather and day to night is wow, guns are pretty much the same loadout as the last installment w/ a few new additions but new gadgets/toys make an appearance and unlocks seem endless (at this point), maps are scaled nicely some are average sized (bbc2) few are huge, couple smaller and couple big so a nice balance. the bad: yes there are some bugs, but ive been so captivated that its isnt as bothersome but they are there. story is a been there done that and took very sim route as black ops did w/ flashbacks and sgt blackburn stuck in an room while interrogated. sometimes the controls do feel a bit clunky especially when alot is going on ( clunky like having jump 3/4 times in order to vault over object, the on screen cues may have to be done a few times although you are following the god of war like quick time, climbing ladder falling off and then can not climb again so restart check point) , cutscenes are present in a way which it slows the pace of the campaign which is never really on full steam to begin with.

so yes the campaign is the worst part of battlefield 3, but its still good but i was hoping 4 something a bit more creative but i must say that i enjoyed every minute and the atmosphere which made my eyes smile and gun fire which gave my ears as close of a taste of the sounds of war as i ever heard in a game. from the roar of the jets to the tanks fierce thunder, i could give you a list from now til next tuesday. this game is a must own if you enjoy military fps multiplayer games , if you are new to this type of game then the campaign is like a training mission preparing you for the online war. so end result, yes the campaign is a place which ive visited before and felt familiar but what didnt was the beautiful graphics, sound and pure beauty of what is on the tv while playing. its a brilliant game, and its brilliance is w/in the mp. and the campaign is just a warm up. but battlefield was and always will be based on mp. this is why i bought it. and the replay value is infinite. awesome

The gist of it is this: Co-op was terrible and the campaign was equally terrible. Essentially in co-op the connectivity was poor and the gameplay experience was unspectacular. It's just you and some friends slogging through set piece moments. Blah. Then the campaign, which I played for about an hour, did nothing to draw me in. Bland story, yadda yadda, why bother? The reason you all came is for multi and it is great. If you played BFBC2 and loved it, then pick this up. The movement is greatly improved, the gameplay is similar but on a larger scale with more vehicles, improved physics, etc. The guns seem to have more recoil this time around. The stealth takedowns are great. My only real beef is that I can't seem to get my sticks adjusted to the proper sensitivity to suit all my needs. This is either the games fault, or I'm just struggling with my PS3 controller which is terrible for FPS games. Whatever. Pick it up. It's enjoyable.

Dialogue is poor as they swear in campaign aswell as on multiplayer(in addition to other online people), otherwise good. Gameplay, in campaign you are assigned certain tasks, jet gunner, sniper, tank driver. Always has lots of action to keep you going and entertained. The campaign makes little sense at first but you eventually begin to understand what's going on. The last level really makes up for a lot of the campaign. Co-op(online only), it's difficult to get past the 2nd mission/fire in the sky, due to the incredible difficulty of flying a helicopter. Otherwise okay, but best played with a friend and have a mic each. Now competitive multiplayer, although not as balanced with the pick up and play ease of Team Fortress2, (you will find quick-scoping nigh on impossible), it reminds me of star-wars battlefront a bit due to large maps and style of multiplayer. It is addictive and tricky at first to get started but getting the physical warfare pack for free of ps-store helps with a access to a semi-auto shotgun(dao-12) and a sniper that helps start you off.
Multiplayer really made this game, recommend purchase(pre-owned/rental will require a pass for multiplayer access). 9/10

Either way, the fps is not an issue, it runs great no matter what, though there was some slowdown and a bit bit of screen tearing. As for multiplayer, it makes up for any other problems the game may have. It's simply amazing. While the 24 player limit is a bit disappointing, if you stick to Rush mode on the larger maps, you will have a blast. The perfect firing mechanics and physics, combined with the tactical team-based and vehicular gameplay, Battlefield 3 sets itself apart from any other shooter on the market. However; the amount of polish DICE has accomplished from the beta to release with Battlefield 3 is astonishing. Because the standard of both the AI in singleplayer and the players in multiplayer are hugely superior to that of other franchises. With hundreds of unlocks, vehicles, and the best sound design and graphics available to a PS3 user, I'm struggling to see what can actually be better. Sure, the singleplayer could be longer, but that's the joy of Battlefield. You keep playing and playing and playi - oh wait, I'm waffling...
But one feature of this game I will always admire is just how extensive it is. Singleplayer has left me stunned, and wanting to play more. Co-op is like SP but with friends and randomised events changing both tactics and play-styles. Multiplayer is almost faultless. It will be said that this game will fail. But the only failure I can see, is that more people are obnoxious and buy Call of Duty than other games. But then that's also a good thing - it means those who do make the leap of faith and choose the other game are much more professional, better gamers who use team-work and tactics to win. For me, this game, and the series, will always be the one to buy.

The singleplayer is not that great and it is comparable to COD in aspects of linearity and blockbuster type action and yet I'd say superior writing and atmosphere. CO-OP is a bit better with 6 missions that are pretty fun with a friend.

What it shines with is multiplayer. You just don't find a shooter with team orientated framework built into its design anymore with the last one I remember being Team Fortress 2, although it's not that heavy. It's balanced and skillful with deep weapon progression and long term investments in unlocking new gear and ranks. Vehicles are an important force and staple on the field, but not instant death machines and they also require some work to use properly. You can be 4 different classes and all of them have helpful items for your team and you play in squads and feel part of a unit instead of people in a map killing each other.

I love Battlefield and the unique experiences it offers in a sea of modern shooting games. You just won't find anything else like it unless you like simulators like ARMA.

I can't think of a way to finish this, but I really recommend picking it up.

Players will appear out of nowhere and kill you even though you were sat waiting for them they suddenly appear in the death camera right in front of where you were looking. The menus are awful. Why cant I see my ping? Why cant I see the conquest score at the end of a game? The flashlight on guns is too bright, as bright as the sun. But saying all this, its still damn good battlefield fun. It just needs some tweaking, come on Dice sort it out!! Expand

I spent five hours playing the MP now - and it's a great game. You need some time to get used to the recoil but then it's so much fun you don't want stop playing this game. Finally a game that needs some skill again. For anyone else who doesn't hit anything because of that, grab yourself a copy of MW3.

A Game that does not dissapoint at all. A First Person shooter should primarly consist on Multi player, Graphics and Of course Sound. BattleField has all 3, and if we are to compare this game to the other First Person shooters out there, it is clear which is the superior one. I recomment this game if you are a War fan gamer, I am sure it will not dissapoint at all.

Its multiplayer is the most enjoyable, visually pleasing experience. Its not without its faults, little things like objective markers take up a little too much space on screen, the aiming needs a little tweaking, and some players expected a little more destruction (well the can look forward to what that little team at DICE who did the Back to Karkand maps because they have promised full on destruction so can't wait for that), but these faults are completely overshadowed by how good the rest of the game is, the sound, the graphics, the destruction (thats there), the maps, the teamwork, the add ons, how every weapon acts differently with every different attachment... its just the ducks nuts... I went out this morning (Tues 8th November) to buy MW3, and I did... brought it home, saw it was THE worst game/biggest disappointment I've ever experienced, took it out of my ps3 put it back in its box and returned it traded it in for batman, so hopefully someone buys that game second hand just so those money grubbing d**ks don't get any more money...

A few online bugs here and there, but that is to be expected with a big FPS ip. A patch which I'm sure is incoming will fix most things. Then we have the map-pack which is getting released in december.

And don't listen to what critics are saying about singleplayer and bringing the score down. The fact that they even added singleplayer should be a treat enough. Battlefield is and always will be a multiplayer game.

I have to compare it to MW3 as it is the biggest rival. MW3 doesn't even come close to comparison in terms of strategic gameplay, sounds, map quality/size and realism. I don't think they should even be in the same catagory. MW3 is an arcade shooter with the same old stuff as the older games, where as BF3 combines a lot more with a brand new engine. MW3 is just run, shoot, die over and over again. BF3 is: flank, hide in building for a bit, kill some guys, try to find more cover, find a nice sniping spot, help your team mates. The vehicles are quality as well, not to mention all of the equipment like EOD bots. MW3 is a childs version of BF3. Play MW3 if you want to train in ultra fast close combat that may assist you in BF3. When you think you're ready to be a man, get BF3 and get your tactical head on. Buy BF3. I have played both games and used to love both COD and BF. But it seems COD has nothing new, where as battlefield has. Destructable buildings/walls are also lovely in BF3, the shooting realism of actually shooting in front and above a distant running enemy is so good.. Buy it... See for youself. I had my fair share of getting a bit annoyed at dying a few times in a row, but, who doesn't? Yes, most of you out there will be saying "Who buys a Battlefield game for the story, for the Single-Player?", well, I do. Not mainly of course, mainly its for the Multi-Player. Speaking of which, the Multi-Player is what you would expect from a Battlefield game, pure awesomeness. There are some bugs/glitches, but none that are game breaking or make you think "this game was rushed". The sounds are fantastic and really feel real, especially in 5.1 Surround sound. I actually died a few times the first time I played, with Helicopters and jets flying over, and the sounds that came out of my speakers held me speechless.

With the shear amount of unlocks, and for me, replay-ability of the Single-player, I don't hesitate one second to give Battlefield 3 a 10/10

I'm a BF2 vet who sold Black Ops less then 24 hours after purchasing. WHY!? Because Battlefield fits MY style of play and enjoyment. Now that that is out of the way let us talk about BF3. It's a great game but like any other game, has issues. The single player is ok, but is basically no different then any other FPS single player. The story line doesn't feel real unique, but is enjoyable. The single play is worth playing for just the sound though! The sound in this game is phenomenal!!!!! I am an individual who has been in the military and fired plenty of guns. The gun sounds, explosions, tank shots, etcetera in this game hit you in the chest. I can't say enough about how great the sound is in this game. Graphically the game is wonderful, with a few (very few) head scratchers every now and then. Graphics for me isn't a big deal though. Yes graphics are awesome, but I'd much rather have a game that plays good and has a good gaming experience, then a game that blows my mind graphically. What DICE has done with the new engine in this game works very well though. My only real complaint with the graphics though, is the lighting. It's not that the lighting is bad, sometimes it's just too much. This stands true in multi-player too. Which helps move this review to the meat, bones, and potatoes (now I'm hungry) of BF3. The multi-player!!!!! This is where BF3 shines the most and the best. First and foremost, it feels like BF2... but different. I know that may sound odd, but that's the best I can explain it. Of course you all probably know that there are guns, explosives, tanks, helicopters (get to da choppa), planes, and destructible environments. But that is just the beginning. BF3 is the ultimate package of multiple experiences in one sitting and/or one round. In one round of conquest or rush, you can launch morters, drive a tank, fly a plane, arm an m-com, get in a fire fight with another team/squad, and I could seriously go on for another 10 minutes. This right here is what makes BF3, BATTLEFIELD 3. To surprise, this isn't for everyone. If you are a run and gun type of person. Then steer clear of BF3, it's not for you. This is a game where strategy means everything. Just because you can shoot faster then me, doesn't mean you or your team is going to win. Now that I've rambled on and on about this game I'm going to rate it based on the two following scores: Single player = 8.4/10 and Multiplayer = 9.4/10. With an overall score of roughly 9/10. Last but not least I want everyone to see this last comment: WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING THIS GAME, SPOT PEOPLE! SPOT! SPOT! SPOT! Expand

Singleplayer: The singleplayer is blockbuster style, with a story about Srgnt. Blackburn being interrogated about his actions as a U.S Marine soldier. As you play the singleplayer, You play through Blackbourn's flashbacks (and some other soldiers as well). You fight against an army named the PLR. Overall, the story is good, but not the best. It feels a little like "cod", with most of the firefights being in close quarters. The story is not the best, but still worth playing.
Co-Op: This is a new mode to the battlefield series, wit most missions about completing objectives.
With only two players and no med packs and ammo to deal out though it feels like the element of teamwork is practically nonexistent. The mode though was extremly fun and tense.
Multiplayer: Ah yes, the multiplayer, I have played a decent amount of conquest and it is amazing, although some maps have more close combat gameplay like Operation Metro and Grand Bazaar. The leveling up system is brilliant pulling me back to the multiplayer every time. Not only that but the sense of teamwork, gun play and vehicles brings me back as well. The guns feel great and are balanced perfectly.
Presentation: Let't get this out of the way: the graphics are brilliant. They are really immersive and they set a whole new standard in fps. The sound is outstanding, making me feel like I am in an actual warzone. Aside from a coulple of glitches, brilliant presentation. Final score: Brilliant multiplayer, good Co-oP but a rather disappointing singleplayer. 9.6/10

Since picking up my copy I haven't been able to put it down. I'll be honest though I only bought it for the multiplayer, which I'll get to later but the single player and the added co-op missions have been surprisingly good. At times the single player campaign can be frustrating with death coming regularly, often out of no where which leaves you wondering how you got killed in the first place? A stray grenade? An RPG? One of the games many explosive set pieces? Very little do I think I was just shot and killed for being out of cover too long. The co-op on the other hand is a welcome addition to the BF series but still has its flaws which can be frustrating also. For example the second co-op mission, Fire from the Sky has you pilot or be the gunner of a helicopter, now unless you have a friend you can do this with who can fly the hard to handle helicopters it will drive you crazy. Relying on someone else to fly it is a frivolous task which ends in them crashing almost immediately and ending the mission. I must have searched for someone to do the mission with at least 5 times and each time I was the gunner and each time the other player crashed and ended the mission. The one time I did get to be the pilot I crashed. Leaving me with a bitter sense of despair. Now knowing I would probably never find anyone online who can pilot a helicopter. Now let's get talking about Battlefields main focal point, its multiplayer. BF's multiplayer is quite simply amazing, holding the top spot for the best multiplayer experience ever. BF comes with 5 different game modes, TD, Squad Deathmatch, Rush, Squad Rush and Conquest. The first two speak for themselves but I'll explain a little about Rush and Conquest. With Rush you either start out as an attacker or defender switching at the end of the match depending on which one you started as first. You need to destroy the enemy M-COM stations or defend your own. It is a very rewarding game mode and demonstrates the full scale war fare that Battlefield has to offer. Whether you're lone wolfing it to try and get that last pesky M-COM station or you're defending your lines holding off the enemy, it is as good as a game mode can get. Conquest is equally as pleasing but can fall short at times when one team dominates, leaving the opposition with very little they can do to get back in the game. This game mode is similar to Gears of Wars annex mode, which sees you trying to capture and hold 3-5 flags spread across the map. Teams start on 200 points and the game ends when one team has sucessfully held the flags long enough to gain the points. All in all the multiplayer is very addicting and if you have played any other game in the BF franchise it will feel familar but with enough new additions and added gameplay tweaks for it too not get repetative. If you're new to the BF franchise then you should be able to pick this one up and get right into the action without feeling like you need hours of gameplay to enjoy yourself. It is well balanced and there is enough for new players to feel comfortable playing. I recommend to anyone who is a fan of FPS or even war games to pick this one up, it won't disappoint. 9/10. Expand
