There's a lot to like about this vastly improved sequel to the Assassin's Creed franchise, Ezio is a more charismatic and like-able protagonist, the story and setting are still very interesting, the environments look great, the side content is more varied, a larger weapon pool increases the creativity in which you can assassinate a target and the introduction of currency makes completingThere's a lot to like about this vastly improved sequel to the Assassin's Creed franchise, Ezio is a more charismatic and like-able protagonist, the story and setting are still very interesting, the environments look great, the side content is more varied, a larger weapon pool increases the creativity in which you can assassinate a target and the introduction of currency makes completing tasks and optional objectives rewarding.

However, the sword combat, while improved from the original is still not very satisfying. There is no real depth to the combat besides just waiting for an opening and enemies can take too many hits which can drag on some fights, this issue is amplified when the expensive swords I was buying didn't seem to improve my damage output like they said they would. Climbing is faster than the original which is nice, but climbing in and of itself as a game play mechanic is still not fun. AC2 is at its worst however during tailing missions, these are lame missions where the player must follow a slow moving NPC character. They pop up way too much and drag on for ages, easily the worst thing about the game.

Assassin's Creed 2 is an improvement from the original in every single way, but improvements to the Assassin's Creed core game play loop still doesn't make up for how boring AC game play can be in the first place, improved or not.

Its really good game. Definitively one should play it. It does not look top-notch for the first glance , especially on PS3 where framerate drops frequently , but through the all game you can feel that developers wanted to do their best about world design , characters and plot.

+ The parkour is so fun but sometimes doesn’t do what i want to do
    + Good Characters especially Ezio
+ The game is like a wikipedia page of the Italian history, u will learn alot though out the game about important historical monuments.

    - The ending is so bad, through all the game i assassinated alot of characters just to get to Rodrigo (the main villain) but at the end the Ezio says your death will not bring my father and brothers to back! Then how about the previous assassination! It was really a very bad ending of the story, I don’t how they though about that.

The story is always interesting from start to end. But the story is being slowed down and immersion broken by some repetitive missions like freeing prisoners or collecting all of certain collectibles in the game for a mission, though these can be excused because they are integral to the story. Another problem is that I don't think the stealth is really that developed, sure there are places you can hide, but it just doesn't feel like a stealth game to me. What I did like is the world building after all these years that this game was made it's still very immersive with musicians on the street and the carnival celebrations and architecture it feels really like you are there. Also the gameplay still very much holds up even though the climbing can be kind of annoying sometimes it's still very fun. Expand

AC II might be my favourite game of all-time to this day, but objectively, even if this is not a perfect game 14 years later, it's hard to find many flaws in it. Once again, it delivered thanks to incredible settings all over Italian Renaissance, characters, with Ezio still being the best AC protagonist ever created, music, with the main theme still being reused in every following games after that, gameplay mechanics that were improved, story that was enriched, a lot of fun things to do and great new ways to approach assassinations during the missions.

The Pazzi conspiracy arc was unforgettable, and I still remember to this day how it felt 14 years ago to advance in the story, through the eyes of Ezio, from its birth to his adult days, trying to take revenge on the people who betrayed his whole family.

An adventure of a lifetime for sure. Please, if you never played this game, do it. You won't regret it.

[Games are] about delivering a world that you want to invest your time in, full of characters you can have an emotional connection with, and Assassin's Creed II does that almost perfectly. [Dec 2009, p.102]
  3. Assassin's Creed II is such an improvement compared to its predecessor that it feels like a completely new game, rather than just a sequel. The varied missions really shine and the narrative is very effective, in all it's Forrest Gump-esque glory. Despite the quite slow start, Ezios adventures in beautiful Florence and Venice both look and feel amazing, and are well worth experiencing to the very end.
