Apr 10, 2013Provides co-op fun in its purest form. But the game not only scores with its fantastic co-op mode, but also with the variety of playable weapons, the sound and its thrilling atmosphere. The only minor disappointment comes from its visual realization, which appears a little bit antiquated. Nevertheless this is another superb entry in the Army of Two franchise.

Apr 8, 2013While I like my shooters, and I enjoyed playing The Devil’s Cartel for what it was, there is nothing there to set it apart from all the others on the market. It’s violent, fast paced, looks fine, and plays okay. But you can’t hi-five in the game anymore. Maybe that’s because when they finished making it EA decided there wasn’t any reason for a hi-five.
-
Mar 28, 2013The game sticks too close to its inspiration at times, but it still offers a meaty campaign loaded with non-stop action. If you enjoy Gears, you will enjoy this.
-
Apr 1, 2013Surprisingly fun, this Army of Two is likely to go unnoticed because of all the games launched these weeks. However, it delivers what it promises: loads of fun.
-
Mar 28, 2013Intense shooting gets your adrenaline going. Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel just is solid and fun. Don't expect surprises or originality.
-
Apr 1, 2013Sometimes despite itself, AoT3 proves that a fun co-op experience can go a long away in masking flaws.
-
Apr 8, 2013Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel is a worthy addition to the Army of Two franchise. Third person shooter fans will feel right at home here and as a fan of the series I enjoyed the story. There are some issues with the game and it lacks replay ability other than to unlock more gear or playing on higher difficulty settings. The Devil's Cartel is a solid shooter with some key differences from most other shooters on the market.
-
Apr 3, 2013This is is obviously not the best co-op game to buy. However it must be said that the second part of the is much better and funnier then the first part. But still: the graphics are ugly and there are too many bugs and shortcomings to be a strong game.
-
Apr 1, 2013There are many reasons for Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel not being a really impressive game. The total absence of an interesting plot and lack of charismatic characters hinders any chance to provide a context for the gameplay. Coop will be our major motivation to give this adventure an opportunity, as the solo campaign won't be of any interest for anybody.

Playstation Official Magazine UKMay 22, 2013Sometimes ugly, often stupid and always unoriginal, but it still does 'shooting men with guns' well enough to be fun. [June 2013, p.100]
-
Playstation Official Magazine AustraliaMay 21, 2013What you’re left with is Max Payne 3 if it was stripped of half its budget, created by Michael Bay and forced into a co-operative experience. Fans might get a kick out of the fire and limb filled explosions, and the cameos from older characters in the series, but make no mistake, it will be short-lived. [June 2013, p78]
-
Apr 21, 2013The Devil's Cartel could have been a better game in almost every aspect. Rarely exceeds the best arguments of the previous games and if this limits the pretensions to take the lead of the franchise, it does not mean that it is a bad game.
-
Apr 16, 2013A game that seems more than satisfied with being entirely average in all respects. Does make for decent co-op fun, though.
-
Apr 3, 2013Comfortably familiar game-play contrasts against badly written and possibly fan-upsetting story. A bit too buggy and repetitive and loses much of its charm when playing without a human partner. Sadly, the best parts by far are the mask-painting tool and the possibility to play it with a friend.
-
Apr 1, 2013It’s generic to the core and wholly uninteresting, as the AI isn’t anywhere near good enough, the developers didn’t do enough with the co-op concept (a huge disappointment), and we don’t even get a drop-in, drop-out feature.
-
Apr 12, 2013Well, Army of TWO: The Devil's Cartel is a little bit of a letdown. Long loading times, invisible walls, dumb AI and a lot of graphical glitches takes away from the experience. Thus, it's not as good as the previous games in the series, which doesn't mean it isn't a fun shooter. Especially when playing with a friend - and let's face it, that is the way you should play Army of TWO - the game might just be worth your while.
-
Apr 15, 2013A decent action game that entertains for the moment. There are mechanics that encourage cooperation, but other than that there's not much to praise as characters, level design and AI (amongst others) are sub par.
-
Apr 8, 2013A splendidly colourful game with a confused tone and too many bugs, Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel will at best briefly amuse then disappear from memory.
-
Apr 6, 2013A game that could’ve been so much more, and barely does enough to justify its existence.
-
Mar 30, 2013The elements that made its predecessors interesting have been all but destroyed, making Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel a functional shooter but little more.
-
Mar 29, 2013The humour has been drained and long-time fans might feel aggrieved by the decision to sideline Salem and Rios in favor of these lame characters. If you absolutely must experience the mediocrity first hand, Army of Two: Devil’s Cartel is still probably best played with a friend... but friends don't let friends play tedious mediocre games.
-
Official PlayStation Magazine BeneluxAug 25, 2013Not every game (or player) needs a riveting story, sometimes some fun gameplay is all it (and the player) needs. Unfortunately nobody told Visceral en EA that. The Devil's Cartel is nothing more than “Duck, Shoot and Reload”, until the end of times. [May 2013, p.80]
-
May 12, 2013The Devil's Cartel takes what made the original Army of Two intriguing and replaces it with quick and simple gameplay that doesn't require much skill. Together with a weak script, this shallow experience is only for the most devoted of fans and trophy hunters desperate for another Platinum.
-
Apr 12, 2013Scaling itself back for a more "pure" co-op experience just doesn't work for this franchise that benefited so greatly from borderline parody. For that reason alone, The Devil's Cartel is an awkward one to recommend.
-
Apr 2, 2013The very definition of a mindless shooter, EA Montreal’s latest — the third in the middling Army of Two series — is a stripped down, by-the-book, bereft-of-imagination bang-bang that left me less satisfied than a parched man served a salt lick and an empty glass.
-
Play UKMay 27, 2013A humdrum shooter that runs on unabashed machismo and is completely devoid of imagination. [Issue#231, p.68]
-
Apr 1, 2013We'd have hoped that if a third iteration in the series was done, it was with the overall goal of surpassing the quality of the two average previous games. But the Devil's Cartel ends-up being a sub-par TPS, bugged, limited, uninspired and even lazy in its game design.
