    I still cannot find another RPG game like wild arms 4, the battle system HEX is so unique for me.
    The BGM is pretty good, the battle BGM is so epic i love it.
    STORY= 09/10
    BGM= 10/10

    I really, REALLY liked this game. Quite possibly my favourite for the PS2. The story wasn't great, but everything else was astonishing. The characters and their development truly touched me, the game was mature and thought-provoking throughout and the ending brought me to tears with its representation of the bittersweetness of life. The platforming elements were my favourite in any RPG to date, the ability to turn off encounters a masterstroke, the tools fun and inventive, the battle system awesome in its tactical implementations, the sidequests too numerous to count and the rewards were constant. So it may not be very difficult and the enemies were half-baked. This was perhaps the funnest 80 hours (there really are a lot of sidequests) I've had with a game, and it had that RPG magic that the next installment was unfortunately unable to capture.… Expand

    I'd agree with the other user review. I'm having a lot of fun so far with this game (don't ask me why OPM gave it 30). At the very least give it a rent if you like RPGs.

    game looks makes u feel good has NEW tory line everything about the game is great is the BEST wildarms ever so far.

    What the hell is this? Where's the amazing story, likable characters, smart puzzles, fast-paced battles, beautiful soundtrack, just right difficulty and tons of side quests that WA3 made me come to expect? All I see is a bland, overly childish storyline, characters that seem almost mentally challenged, a world that has no Wild Western feeling at all and simple, short, boring, overly What the hell is this? Where's the amazing story, likable characters, smart puzzles, fast-paced battles, beautiful soundtrack, just right difficulty and tons of side quests that WA3 made me come to expect? All I see is a bland, overly childish storyline, characters that seem almost mentally challenged, a world that has no Wild Western feeling at all and simple, short, boring, overly easy and absolutely not compelling level design. I commend Media Vision for trying to innovate, but it just went all wrong.… Expand

    I'm not sure if most of these reviewers were just grumpy or not big RPG fans, but I have played through the first few hours of this game and so far am quite impressed. I could even say that this is a RPG that fans should be stoked for. Ok so here's my take on the game so far. The story is some what cliched, but what else are you expecting from a Japaneese RPG. I could even say that this is a RPG that fans should be stoked for. Ok so here's my take on the game so far. The story is some what cliched, but what else are you expecting from a Japaneese RPG. Typical boy of destiny, meets friends goes on quest to figure out who he is. It is the setiing and the cast of characters though that make the game stand out. All of them that I have encountered so far are fun and interesting. The main charecter Jude is a little annoying, and he is dressed like a total tool bag, but his powers are cool so it makes up for it a bit. The rest of the cast is still dressed "different", but for the most part they are tolerable to look at. The world is definatly not Wild West this time. It's more like the middle ages meets a post war Neo Tokyo,(think FFVII) I think it's kind of cool actually. The game play is the best part of the game. Durring your exploration you have a lot of platforming and puzzle solving to do. It is all very simple, but it is better than wandering around hittng the radar button and waiting for one random fight after another. The battles themselves are fantastic. There is a new hex system that utilizes postion durring your turn based battles to give you the advantage. It too is quite simple, but fun. It gets more complicated the further you get into the game. Some of the best improvements of this game is that there is no wandering on the world map. You just highlight your destination and then your quest continues in the selected area. The world map exploration in WA3 and WAalter F. was HORRIBLE. Thats gone. So to is the migrant seal thing. I hated that. Now after you reach a certain area in a dungeon and complete the required acomplishment, you get the option of turning the random encounters on or off. This is something that every RPG should have included. I hate when you are trying to focus on exploring,puzzles, or treausre hunting and you have to fight the same repetative random battle over and over. This feature is great. All in all I would say that this game is a great game for any one who enjoys RPGS and wants something new with just enough familiarity to be confortable. If you just loved Wild Arms the way it was, then you might be disapointed, but I think that even with the changes even a hard core WA fan will like what this game has to offer.… Expand

    I have been playing Wild Arms since it's release in 96 (before the Alter Code F remake which i loved) and this installment doesn't sit to well with me. Innovative as the battle system may be there are a lot of elements about it that are just wrong especially the ley point hexes. Although a lot argue the story doesn't sync it does, play Wild Arms 3 ( those people have no memory of why Filgaia is decaying) these people waged war on how to restore Filgaia so i think it fits perfectly with continuity.… Expand

    Des combats au tour par tour pas trop mal faits sauf qu'au 30ème ennemi, on en a déjà un peu marre, car c'est le syndrôme Final Fantasy qui touche l'ensemble du jeu : le caractère répétitif (des combats justement, bien trop nombreux) et l'histoire superficielle et générique sans parler de ce genre de monde mi-fantasy mi-technologique vu et revu.

    Quant aux "héros", il s'agit de chiards débiles toujours à chialer pour un pet de travers, bêtes à bouffer du foin, la touche "manga" accentuant encore le phénomène. Graphiquement, ma foi, on a vu pire et au moins (c'est appréciable) les temps de chargement sont réduits au minimum. L'interface, selon les habitudes japonaises, est assez vilaine et pas toujours pratique ; la caméra est fixe et la carte brille par son absence.

    Par ailleurs, le jeu est tout en anglais (rien de rédhibitoire cela dit) avec des voix aussi niaises que leurs personnages en carton mais assez rares puisque les dialogues se font par des vignettes comme dans une BD -ou plutôt un manga- bas de gamme. Enfin, si vous êtes encore réveillé après toute cette dégoulinade japoniaise, la musique atrocement mièvre ne manquera pas de vous achever.    … Expand

    Wild ARMs 4 seems to be the complete opposite of the standard RPG, as it's the gameplay, not the story, which kept me playing.

    Story problems aside, I really enjoyed Wild Arms 4. It is one of my favorite games in the series, just for the gameplay alone.
