PSM MagazineNew tactics, a well-delivered story, and, not to be overlooked, even better online co-op and competitive play not only make this the most intriguing game yet in the series, but easily one of the best games of its kind, period. [Holiday 2006, p.72]
-
Play UKIt really aims to offer a little something for everyone. [Issue#146, p.88]
-
Although you might expect the next gen version to shine the brightest, the current gen consoles actually turn in the brightest performance overall in my opinion, with the Xbox first, PS2 second.
-
The “best of the best” of the PS2 games out for the holidays. Featuring a kick-ass storyline, signature Splinter Cell gameplay and some of the best graphics on the console; it really does not get any better than this.
-
While many gamers have experienced or have heard about the next-generation version, the current gen version of Splinter Cell offers a meatier, gadget-heavy side that falls distinctly in line with "Pandora Tomorrow" and "Chaos Theory."
-
PSM3 Magazine UKThe best Splinter Cell yet and a top-notch stealth game. But Sam needs some new ideas to topple Snake. [Dec 2006, p.84]
-
Completely different from Double Agent for the Xbox 360, this version features its own exciting stealth-action campaign, plus a solid new multiplayer mode and some great cooperative missions.
-
A fine addition to the series, and the Trust Meter addition means that, for the first time, this'll be one spy game you'll go back to even after you've finished it. Sam going bad is good news for Splinter Cell fans.
-
It's one of the best multiplayer experiences on the platform, and the single-player is nothing to sneeze at. However, if given a choice, I'd recommend the Xbox version for technological reasons, or just suggest you go all-out next-gen with Double Agent on 360.
-
At its best, the 360 version is the standout, but if you add up all the features, pretty much any system owner can be proud of their version and how it holds up against the others, which seems to be what Ubisoft had in mind. And which also is very annoying for those who want the single best version across the board.
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKA slick game that demonstrates how great stealth can be when done right. It's just too damn murky to be a classic, though. [Dec 2006, p.88]
-
Galvanized by the well-implemented trust management system, Splinter Cell: Double Agent proves to be another great game in this venerable series. By delving further into the character of Sam Fisher, Ubisoft manages to keep the series vital, much to our delight.
-
The lack of multiplayer and online co-op, as well as less-than-average visuals makes this game only worth a rental, with almost no redeeming replay value.
