  1. While The Haunted Mansion can not be classified as a children’s game, it does have a genial, yet spooky feel about it and is easily accessible by both novice and veteran gamers.

Has great production values, is "spiritually" faithful to the look and feel of the famed Disney attraction, and is a very good action/puzzler to boot.
  3. Zeke is a cool character and the gameplay is enjoyable enough for a good weekend of gameplay.

Aficionados will even recognize specific details and fixtures from the "real" Haunted Mansion in this pleasing, spiritually faithful reincarnation. [Holiday 2003, p.46]
  5. It's imaginative, it controls well, and the puzzles are solid and challenging without being repetitive. It's simply that a basic weakness in the engine makes The Haunted Mansion a far more frustrating experience than it really needs to be.
  6. If you simply need a game to continue the style of titles such as "Grabbed by the Ghoulies" then The Haunted Mansion will definitely suffice, but don't expect the same level of graphics quality or gameplay.

It’s very enjoyable the whole way through and the puzzles are extremely well designed and varied, some being simple and some requiring quite a bit of thinking.

  9. The game expertly blends physical—mostly platforming—challenges with cerebral puzzles and, in the process, keeps players guessing throughout.
  10. Between its overall solid presentation, and its gameplay that keeps you guessing, this is one game that's worth taking a look at.

The game does a pretty decent job of retaining the style and spirit of the license without sacrificing on control mechanics or puzzle cleverness. For these reasons, parents looking for a safe, enjoyable title to play with their kids may find TDK's game a worthy selection.
  12. Fun fluff- here one minute, gone the next, but there was some fun had along the way. Some very cool puzzles are worth playing the game for, but this is not one I would voluntarily own.

If you enjoy puzzle solving and are looking for a way to kill an afternoon, there are worse ways you could spend your time. [Feb 2004, p.102]
  14. There was rich promise here, but High Voltage has dropped the ball with its sloppy approach to the combat.

From bedrooms containing clever and mysterious moving panels to a 'Land of the Giants'-style pool challenge, each section delivers something new and exciting to motivate deeper exploration. [Apr 2004, p.110]

Tragically, Haunted Mansion is mercilessly short, and combined with the singular solution to each room ensures a frustrating experience, especially as it's so completely linear.
  17. Play Magazine

The story is way overdone and weighs down the gameplay..., and convoluted specifics of progression are unnecessary given the game's linear structure. [Nov 2003, p.93]

If i can compare Disney's The Haunted Mansion with an existing game, that will be Luigi's Mansion... or I can simply describe it as that.

If i can compare Disney's The Haunted Mansion with an existing game, that will be Luigi's Mansion... or I can simply describe it as that.
The game was developed by High Voltage Software, a game company that i haven't seen too many games from them... their latest game was Zombieland: Double tap (which was a bad game by the way) but this game is... actually good!!!
Even though this game was released the same year as the Eddie Murphy film back in 2003, the video game is not a direct adaptation from the movie... instead it tells it's own original story inspired on the concept from the Disneyland ride. The story is about a guy named "Ezekiel Halloway" who's new job is to be the keeper of the mansion, he soon discovers that the mansion has been overtaken by a evil entity called "the order of shadows" now... it's up to him to set free the spirits that walk through the corridors from the house.
The game is play as a third person perspective with some shooting elements, the player has on his disposal a lamp that can be used to shoot evil spirits and to capture them as well, as the player progress through the game he will be able to upgrade his lamp with some crystals.
The Haunted Mansion is a really linear game... way too linear, doors will be locked with an spirit count, as the player enters to a different room he will need to capture souls, the more souls you got more doors will be open... but this rooms will be available in order.
Moving to the difficult, even that the player can choose the game's difficult, the overall game in not that hard or challenging, there will be some challenges like 2 that are a bit hard but they won't take too long to complete and they consist on trial and error.
Visually the game looks good and has a unique style that aims more to look like a cartoon but not too much, even for a ps2 the game looks good, the only difference it had between the gamecube and xbox version is that this one has no "dynamic shadows" but overall they look the same.
It's sad this game never got released on PC, but some day if you got the chance to play it... do it, it is a good game and you will enjoy it.

This game is awesome! For fans of the ride, it doesn't get any better. I don't think the Play Magazine guys played the game very long.
