This is a game that got low ratings for changing up the formula from the original game. It's not a bad game when viewed by its own merits and I actually thought it was a decent tie in to the original. I can see why it got trashed though everyone wanted more beat em up rioting action and this game is just another shooter, no beat em up. It's not a bad game when viewed by its own merits and I actually thought it was a decent tie in to the original. I can see why it got trashed though everyone wanted more beat em up rioting action and this game is just another shooter, no beat em up. It's actually a very decent shooter that I enjoyed quite a lot. The guns are a little bit clunky but I found the worse of the game to be excessively spaced save points. Apart from this the game was quite fun. I actually prefer this game over the original but honestly these two titles don't belong in the same genre. The first game is mostly arcade beat em up with secondary gunplay choices while this second game is pretty much third person shooter all the way with adaptations and tie ins to the characters within the first game mostly. I thought they did a good compromise with the map making this linear game feel more open worldish to make it feel more like the first game. Expand

  1. A well done blast of intense action gaming that should keep genre fans occupied for a while. The plot isn’t going to win any awards, but its twists and turns are compelling enough to keep you playing throughout the tougher sections.
  2. At least it's not as purely unbearable as the first, packing a few neat ideas like the ability to use vehicles to mow down enemies and the balancing between different freedom fighters in your crew.
  3. State of Emergency 2 replaces the first game's ultraviolent and fancy-free nature with a cavalcade of lame trial-and-error-based missions, a lousy plotline, and dated technology.
