It's a long game whose simplistic but satisfying combat can be quite addictive, but mostly for meticulous players who don't get frustrated easily.
-
The key to a game like this is to make combat feel really good, which is something Shining Force Neo does a lot better than those middling Champions of Norrath games. When you swing your sword, it feels like it has impact, even if you're only hitting a barrel.
-
If you're a fan of hack-n-slash button-mashing in your RPGs, Shining Force Neo offers a load of challenge and a long campaign.
-
Shining Force Neo does its job, but it’s a bit too tough considering that you pretty much have to wait for your character to get stronger rather than improving it on your own.
-
When it comes down to it, Shining Force Neo is an average title with a couple of nice game mechanics.
